The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A guard came in and escorted him out of his cell and into a room. Once in the room he was left alone. The room didn't have much in it either. It was solid white and only had a table, another mirror, and a chair. The chair didn't look to comfy. It looked more like those chairs that you see at High School graduations. The really uncomfortable metal folding ones. He decided to sit. Finally, after what seemed like hours a woman appeared.
She was wearing a lab coat and a pair of jeans with a button down shirt. Aside from the lab coat she could have looked like just about any teacher that Teddy might have seen away from the school. Her brown hair was done in a tight bun above her head and her glasses rested on her nose. She was carrying a few things that Ted couldn't see from the box and she set it down in front of him on the table. Teddy didn't know what she wanted but he was pretty sure that she wasn't here to give him a math lesson. The stuffed animal shifter kept his eyes on her and she stared daggers into him with her icy blue eyes which had just the slightest flecks of gold in them. Teddy couldn't hold her gaze and eventually started looking at the floor and counting the white tiles that were there.
The lady smiled and cleared her throat. She looked at him and her smile faded as he was once again looking at her. She didn't look disgusted. On the contrary, she seemed curious with him like he was a monkey in a science lab about to be experimented on. And boy did he have no idea how close to right he was. She didn't say much except. "I'm Kara your handler. We're going to be spending a whole lot of time together so don't try and run away." With that little statement, she walked out leaving Teddy not only confused but worried as to what was really going on here. In the silence he started to get curious about the box and its contents. As he made his way up he could plainly see a file sitting on the top of everything in the box. What lay beneath the file he couldn't tell from the distance but he was going to find out. Or at least he was until the door opened again.
This time it was another lady that entered. Someone different. Up to this point the only interaction he'd had was with the guard and Kara. "Hi Theodore. Do you prefer Ted or Teddy?" This new lady was a little different in her approach with Ted. She was a little warmer. Maybe they were trying the classic good cop, bad cop, routine. "Ummm... Ted. I guess." He wasn't sure how to react to this woman. How'd she know his name? Was whatever was in the box about him? Did they have a file on him? Had they been studying him for a while and Sam was just the culprit they chose to abduct him? The room might as well have been spinning again, with as many questions were flying around in his head at the moment.
"My name's Amanda. You just met Kara your handler. She works for me and I just felt that since you were sooo unceremoniously scooped up and brought to our special facility that it was only fair that I talk to you in person. Please take a seat." She said in as friendly a voice as she could. He didn't know why but he felt compelled to listen to her. So he sat. Once he was in the chair Amanda began explaining things to him. "Ted..." She began slowly. She was about to spin a lie so thick that even a con artist would believe it. "I'm sure by now your wondering why you're here." He didn't reply but he slightly shook his head. "Well, Ted you have a special gift. So we've brought you here to our Top Secret facility to train you so that when you are ready for this mission you will succeed without even the slightest hesitation."
Teddy had no idea that she was using her powers to get inside his head. She would need more than that to get to him. His powers require a lot of focus so he was good at using his brain. Even so, he was still having a hard time not believing her. As she was talking he started imagining himself as a spy in a Mission Impossible movie. Ok maybe he'd seen to many spy movies but it was still pretty cool. "Kara is a little unorthodox but we support her because her results never fail to impress us. If you want, feel free to take a look in the box. It may just help you out during your training. Good luck, I'm sure we'll be seeing each other often." Without giving him time for she left. Just like that he was alone again with just the box and his thoughts. What was going to happen to him? What did they need him to do? This was too much for one day. All he wanted to do was sleep and hope this was a dream.
Teddy's eyes fluttered open. The first thing he registered was looking at a cement ceiling. The room was cold and all he had was a blanket, a very uncomfortable bed, a book shelf that seemed to be filled with only a few of the more popular books that were out at the moment. He wasn't much of a reader but if this room. No scratch that...cell was going to be his place for only god knows when then he may actually read them. Ted tried to sit up. The room immediately started to spin. He laid back down for how long? a few minutes? Half an hour? There was no telling. There was no clock. No sound. The only thing that could be heard was his heart beating, and the buzz of the lights around.
Slowly, oh so slowly, he got up. When the room began to spin again he closed his eyes. When that was done he swung his feet around and onto the cold tiled floor. He looked around for the first time and noted that aside from his bed and the book shelf the only other thing that was there was a mirror. Teddy staggered around and looked for something to drink. Nothing. His mouth felt like part of the Sahara and his head was throbbing more than a dub step beat.
The door was solid. No jail cell just a slat that didn't open from his side. There was a window but it was to high for him to see out of, even if he stood on the bed. The slate slid up and a tray of food appeared in his room with a couple of pills. They looked like Tylenol so he took them and ate the food hungrily. The pain in his head began to recede and the food and water helped with the lack of saliva in his mouth. Perhaps Sam would come soon to explain everything.
Sam. Teddy bolted to the door and started banging on it. He yelled. "Sam! SAM!" Nothing. No answer. Eventually he stopped banging on the door and sat back down on his bed. What was going to happen to him? Why was he here? What happened to the other kid that he saw with Sam? These questions and more flooded his head and his hands clutched his head around his ears and his headache started to return. Teddy was startled when the door opened.
“Ah, I see," "That’s pretty much why I’m here too. To learn how to control my mutation...†“But you feel like you haven’t learned that much?†Why’s that?â€
Ted was silent for a minute. He'd never really thought about why he hadn't learned much. Finally he supposed that he had an answer for her. "Well..." He began. Ted was still trying to get his thoughts in order. "My power is very interesting. And it's not one of those that you can easily train. It's not dangerous... Just odd."
He smiled. There had to be an easier way for him to explain this. "I can transform into any stuffed animal I can touch." He didn't want her to feel like there was no one around to help learn about powers and that she'd been fed a bunch of lies so he continued.
"There seems to be more kids here with dangerous powers that might require a little more... personal attention, than some of us others. I think the school favor, not in the sense of they hold some at a higher sense of purpose than others, but favors in the way that there seem to be many more teachers available for training the more dangerous mutations than some of us, less than lethal's, as I like to refer to myself." Teddy smiled.
Maybe her mutation was dangerous, but that's what he'd seen in the time that he'd been around the place. He was still trying to get with some of the other shape shifters to learn about how to expand his powers. It was tricky to find people with like powers, because they didn't go around with a tag on their shirt saying what they could do. Teddy only hoped that she had better luck learning about her powers than he'd had so far.
Ted continued to look around for Sam. His little dissapearing act was an extraordinary thing. He certainly didn't know that Sam could do that. There was literally no trace of him. The only trace that he'd left was some ice that was still on the floor. Ted was still trying to avoid that. It was then that he looked upa nd saw Sam flying down at him like a spider jumping on its prey.
They landed with a silent thud and hit his head on the ground. Teddy's air was forced out of his lungs and his head was spinning. He was seeing stars and those stars were starting to get darker. Sam's weight didn't seem to be getting any lighter. Pretty soon Ted was unconscious and he was soon lying on the floor like a limp noodle. What happened next he wouldn't know until it he awoke again.
Teddy continued walking. Unfortunately, he wasn't really paying much attention to where he was going. He slipped in a sheet of ice. Busting his butt in the middle of the hallway was not the thing he wanted to do in the middle of the night.
Ted had a little trouble getting up. He was never any good on the ice anyways. After slipping a few more times on the ice he managed to get up. Ted backed up a few steps, being very careful not to slip back on the ice again.
When Teddy looked around again he'd lost sight of Sam. There was no sign of him. He didn't know that Sam could pull off an invisibility trick. Of course there was a lot about Sam that Ted didn't know. This probably wasn't the best time to hang about though. Teddy shrugged and began slowly waking back to his room. He was pretty tired and was really hoping to get some sleep tonight. Teddy yawned and rubbed his eyes. What was going on? Was he already dreaming?
Teddy was groggy from all the school work that he'd been assigned recently. It seemed like all the teachers were bent on giving the kids as much work as they possibly could this time of year.
Ted was in that in between phase. Not quite asleep and not quite awake. As he laid down to sleep he heard the footsteps of someone running down the hallway. Don't they know what time it is, and people ate trying to sleep? Some people have no respect. Teddy thought. He was to tired to get up and tell them to shut up so he just laid there hoping that they would just go back to bed and he could finally sleep.
Ted would have fallen asleep if it wasn't for the cry of help that he heard in the hallway. Groggily Ted stumbled out of bed and opened his door just in time to see Sam carrying some kid away.
A few thoughts went through his head. One was, Was that Sam? and another was Why is he carrying a kid? That doesn't seem normal. Against his better judgement, he followed Sam for just a bit. Watching was always better than taking action in Teddy's opinion.
Ted smiled and shook the hand that was offered. "It's no problem." Teddy said as they continued towards the infirmary.
"I know what you mean. I can't even count how many times I got lost or turned around in this place." Ted admitted. The inside mansion was a lot warmer than it was outside but he was going to enjoy the outdoors once this little trip was over.
There were a few kids siting around in the lounge and they all looked pretty comfortable. That might be a good place to end up too. It'll all depend on how energetic he feels afterwards.
So how long have you been at the mansion
"I've been here about three years now. Going to school and trying to learn more about my powers the whole time. Unfortunately I'm not sure how much I've learned about it."
It was true. He'd been here for three year and he still didn't feel like he was making much progress. Or at least not in the direction that he was hoping for.
They were almost at the infirmary and it wouldn't be long before Alice's hands would be all healed up.
"If I had to lean so far out the window to see something I think I would have just grabbed some binoculars." Teddy said to her, being a little bit of a smart alek. The two continued walking along the path back to the front of the mansion where he'd come out of. Teddy realized that he'd actually never introduced himself to her.
"My name's Tedd...er... Ted by the way. What's your name?" he stumbled over a root that was sticking out of the ground, and managed to, a little less than gracefully, catch himself before he tried to mimics what she'd done out the window. Why was he about to tell her that his name was Teddy? It's not like people called him that a whole lot. Some did, but some didn't. That and he thought that it might sound a little childish.
A lot of things could be determined by just a name and unless it was given as a pet name or something he had no real intention of telling her that's what he goes by. He'd been lucky enough, in the past few minutes at least, to avoid talking about his powers or her powers. His usually got a awww reaction from people and that's not exactly how he wanted to meet new people.
Um, you don't know where I could like, find a band-aid, do you?
Ted smirked again. He was glad that she was ok. "You haven't been here that long have you?" Teddy asked. He knew the answer to the question before she could answer it. "We've got an infirmary here, where we have a resident healer. So I don't actually know if there are any band aids in this place." Teddy smiled when she finally looked at him. He really couldn't blame her for being embarrassed; he probably would have been too if someone had seen him fall out of a window. Of course he would be a little more hurt than her since his room was on the second floor and not the first.
The awkward silence filled the space for a second before he finally asked her, "What were you doing in the window anyways?" Teddy figured that most people would just stand at the window, not sit in it if it was a nice day outside.
It was really too bad that his mutation didn't help him with seeing in the dark. What he could see of the building looked like it was under attack or in the middle of a major renovation. The place certainly didn't look like there were people in it. Out of Teddy's periphery he saw a pulsing green light. Ever so slowly the little stuffed raccoon turned it's head to see what was producing the light. This didn't seem to be a very smart idea as he soon saw the monster and froze. Complete and utter terror took over Teddy's body. He was frozen. It was certainly a good thing he wasn't in his human form because if he was he might have seriously needed a change of shorts. As much as his mind was yelling at him to run away, his body just wouldn't respond.
A tongue snaked out at him and he was immediately grossed out. Teddy was starting to get his terror under control and his brain was starting to work again. Maybe it can't see in the darkness. So if I just stay still then it may not eat me. These thoughts seemed to agree with what his body was thinking. Either way he couldn't really move. Sadly, the tiny raccoon's head was turned so that he was staring straight down the monsters mouth. It wasn't the best view in the place and if he could've closed his eyes he certainly would have. But since he couldn't he had an unobstructed view of the monsters fire that looked like it was burning inside it. That could explain why Teddy saw the glowing from it's stomach before he saw the actual monster. Suddenly, a blast of hot air was breathed in his direction. Ugh. It smells horrible. Like burnt hair or something Teddy thought as he tried not to gag on the monsters foul odor.
As soon as the monster seemed that his breath had thoroughly done the job with Teddy it seemed to loose interest and move on. Maybe it was because Teddy still couldn't, and didn't dare to move on. He watched as the monster walked off, taking out anything that seemed to be in its way. Just then the raccoon realized that it was heading out of the building. There were people out there. Many of them were probably younger than him and just wanted candy. He had to do something. Yes, his mutation wasn't very battle ready but he could do something. Maybe he could find someone that could fight it. The ted-coon started to run back out the doors where he came in from. As he did this he dashed past the monster. Probably, not the smartest idea. He continued to run and as he was running he remembered that he couldn't talk to people like this.
Teddy started growing and slowly looking more human. He wasn't used to this kind of emergency changes so he wasn't ready when he was forced onto his feet. A little stuffed raccoon head bobbled about as he tried to get his balance and keep moving. He fell a couple of times as things changed back randomly to human form. The tail helped a little but he was still a little worked up so it was taking longer than usual. Finally he got his voice back and once his head was all human, except for the ears and eyes, he tripped once again trying to avoid running into a creepy ballet dancer looking person. "Run!" He said as he tried to catch his breath. "Monster!"
Teddy was headed to a party. It was Halloween after all. He was to young to get into any of those adult parties that the clubs were all advertising on the radio, but he did hear about one that was strictly for kids. If you're a kid between the ages of 13-17 then come on down to 5438 Maple rd. On the corner of Maple and 5th St. in New York City this Halloween to have the scariest and best party of the year. Anyone 12 or under will have a separate party in the back. Bing your best Halloween costume and we'll have a winner at the end of the night. Or at least that's what the ad on the radio had said. What was he going as? How about a real stuffed animal. It took him a while to find one but he finally found one that wasbig enough for him to pass for a kid in a costume. Either way he was still stuck on this dirty city bus that was talking him to the area. It was already dark outside and he was already not in the best mood. All his friends had bailed on him at the last minute and now he was stuck going alone and forced to come up with a good excuse for his friends as to why they weren't there.
As the bus rumbled down the street towards his exit he noticed that this particular part of town was much darker than the blocks they'd just passed. They were sitting at a red light when he noticed that the area looked like it had a power outage. Well this day is just getting better. How can there be a party if there's no electricity? What do they expect us to dance to, the music playing out of someone's car system? As impressive a sound system as that might be he really didn't feel like being in a crowded building with a bunch of other teens without any form of air conditioning. Even thought the weather was cooling off for October, almost November, it was still going to get pretty stuffy in there with everyone in costumes and such.
The bus lurched forward, as the light turned green and everyone on the bus was soon confused as to why the bus seemed to break down on just the other side of the intersection. It was as if the bus had just lost power. All the lights on the bus went dark, the radio that had been chirping over the noise of the engine died and the engine itself seemed to die as the bus slowly ground to a halt. Confusion set in with some of the passengers of the bus and the bus driver tried to calmly tell everyone to stay put. Needless to say, that didn't work to well and people started to get off the bus. Teddy followed suit. He wasn't that far from where the party was now and he could probably walk there faster than another bus could get there and take everyone where they needed to go.
If Ted had bothered to check his phone he would have seen that it too had died. The young teen started heading down the street when he heard some commotion coming from inside one of the buildings. It sounded like there was a struggle going on in there. He looked at the sign on the building and saw that it was some science laboratory. Teddy stood outside it confused. Why would someone want to break into this place? He wondered. There was no one else around, so he turned into his raccoon form. It wasn't the one he was going to use for the party but this would be stealthy enough for him to get around. Teddy walked in and shifted. It was really hard to see anything even in this form but the light from the night outside seemed to be just barely enough for him to make out the walls in the hallway. So far there was nothing of interest to see. But that changed in an instant...
The cool day signaled the onset of fall around here. It was in these times that Teddy actually started to not like living here. He was from theSouth and even their winters weren't all that cold. Especially in Florida. Either way, it was still a nice day and he was still outside. Ted just happened to be sporting his favorite pair of wind breaker pants and a dark green t-shirt that said 'BJJ' on the front and had a picture of the Brazilian flag on the back.
He rounded the corner, not really paying attention to anything when he saw some girl he hadn't seen before sitting on the ledge of one of the windows. It's probably, just someone enjoying the weather. He thought to himself as he got a little closer. It wouldn't be unusual to see people sitting outside, or even have their windows open on a day like this. Although, it was unusual to see someone fall out of their window and land on their face. Unfortunately, he'd missed the actual falling part. He had gotten distracted by some bird as it flew over head and chirped. Teddy snickered a little; that is until he got closer. "Hey are you ok?" He still had a bit of a grin on his face but he wiped it off as fast as he could. He hoped she wouldn't get upset with him for smiling and think he was making fun of her.
Teddy stood in the back ground while Kara and the lady filled out paperwork. It didn't take to long for her to finish withy the paperwork, which he was glad of, but once she was done Kara was assigned a room. It wasn't the room that she currently had all her stuff in. She turned to Ted and asked for his help.
"Sure. I'll help you move your stuff. Let's go get it." Teddy responded. He then looked at the lady behind the desk and said, "Thanks Ma'am." He waited for her to be ready to go. When she was, the two teens left the front desk and went to start the process of moving.
Teddy here... I know my posting has been erratic at best lately but I had this idea that it might be fun to have a thread with as many people that can shift forms as possible.
The idea, I'll admit, is a bit selfish because I'm trying to have Ted meet some people. but it could be a fun menagerie of different actions that I think could lead to some interesting happenstances.
