The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been a couple weeks since college started, several weeks from the time she had joined Haven. She and Devon had arranged for a little get together to discuss Halloween and m aye other things, to help both of them process the... Trauma, really, have the events that happened to them. Neither had deserved what happened, but both had to live with the consequences of that night.
She wore a pair of blue jeans, a black trench coat, and a typical grey t-shirt. It was definitely a more relaxing outfit, which she chose since it was a cold day. Not to mention, if they got into too serious conversations about that night, Celeste couldn't guarantee she wouldn't cry. The autopsy of the witch showed that the ultimate cause of her death was radiation poisoning. Luckily, the garage wasn't irradiated anymore after she was transported away. She had actually been the lead contributor to someones death. It was something that she still was processing.
To everyone else, she tried to be the supportive, encouraging one. Even with Devon, she was going to try to be that way. Downplay how she felt, the nightmares she's had, the burden she's carried. She needed to get it out and maybe, depending on how the conversation went with Devon, this could be a time for both of them to really, truly feel and maybe... Maybe even bury for good some of the emotions that has plagued them since that night.
She saw Devon and waved as she came up. Once she reached the bench, whether or not he stood up, she leaned down and hugged him. After the greetings hug, she would sit down next to him. "Hey, you, how are you doing?" She would say lightheartedly.
She took her coffee and nodded, "Downtown we go!" She chuckled. It probably wasn't the smartest idea to go off into the city with a near stranger, but she wasn't going to be alone with him at least. She didn't get any bad vibes from him, though.
She nodded, "Will do, yeah, this place is a bit of a... cultural shock, at first." She chuckled as they walked. "There is basically nothing this tall in Regina, my home town. When I first got here, it was just so overwhelming." She shook her head. Life had changed so much since she had been here. It was crazy.
She giggled, "I'll believe it when I see it, honestly." She hadn't seen stars ever since she'd been in the city. She doubted she'd see it just because she's up higher.
(no worries, I've been really behind cause of work.)
Celeste let her legs dangle a bit, letting them move back and forth. She wasn't sure what Nate really wanted to talk to her about, but it seemed like he was complimenting her. He wanted to know if she was interested in politics, in helping people, and... She did. She was interested in all of those things. She nearly nibbled on a nail as he she nodded in agreement, "Well, touche for the internet thing... But the other ones?" An... eye on-and-comers..?
She nodded and became much more serious as she listened to Nate speak. He thought she had potential. Other groups had noticed her. Those things surprised Celeste, but Celeste was clearly interested. Her legs stopped moving and she moved forward a little as she listened.
She nodded, occasionally saying yeah, as she listened to him speak. An internship? A humanitarian organization? Her interest clearly piqued, although, it was a lot to take in. She wasn't entirely sure where to start or even what to say, "O-oh. Mr. Holloway, are you sure? This is... An amazing opportunity, of course I'm interested! You know, I want to do anything that can help people. Can you tell me more about Haven?"
Once they reached the school, Celeste immediately felt more relaxed. They would be safe here - particularly, he would be safe. No one would harm him here like they would at the mall or other places. There was a lot of bigots and she was worried that would be an issue. Luckily for them, they managed to get away and to the mansion in time.
She perked a brow, stopping to make sure he could keep up. "I think you know this place. You are doubting yourself... Maybe you know someone here or have been here before?" This must not be the form he is usually in - he must usually be in a different kind of form. The fact that he probably knew this place meant that someone here would know him!
The next issue was... Who should she talk to? Mr. Holloway, Mr. Cervantes...? Ugh, she had no idea.
Celeste had a lot on her mind that day. With everything else going on, she really wasn't prepared to deal with a court case because of her parents douchebaggyness. She knew she would have to deal with it, but how? She needed to find a lawyer - despite the fact that she barely had any money.
After she had dropped off his food, she did the usual questions. He said no, as usual, so she turned to leave to go do other waitressy things. However, she noticed his hand go up before she fully turned and perked a brow. He asked about the document in her apron. Her eyes widened a little bit. She didn't think anyone would notice (or that it was so obvious out there.) She bit her lip for a moment, debating on what to say.
After a couple seconds, she sighed. "It's kind of a long story... Well, it isn't but it is." It came out as more of a 'are you sure you really want to listen to this' kind of question than a statement. Maybe he would have some suggestions, but she first needed to see if he really wanted to actually listen to the situation. "It involves mutants, sh*tty parents, and a runaway girl," she muttered under her breath. Huh... Maybe it wasn't so long.
Celeste listened to Maya as she spoke. She could see where it was going as soon as she said 'think.' Maya probably blamed herself, in some way, some of the crazy sh*t that happened in that garage.
She gave Maya an encouraging smile, "Maya, you did the absolute best you could. No training could prepare you for something like that and there is almost no way to have an organized response when you are in the middle of something terrible like that. This wasn't your fault - in fact, imagine how bad it could have been without you. That is the scary part - what if you weren't there to help?" She was getting a little dark in her attempt to be optimistic.
She shook her head a little, "All I'm saying is that you did your best. That's all I or anyone else could have asked for." She leaned her head back, a little tired at the sudden emotion in the situation.
She laughed quietly, “True, very true.” She gave a smile towards Nyssa before taking a glance at the library. “This really is a great place, even to just clear your mind.”
She nodded, “I think you will enjoy it. Plus, easy reads.” She smiled, “It’s great to meet you, Nyssa! I hope you come around more often!” Celeste thought it was strange that she’d want to be called Grant. Maybe she was from a military family? Or maybe she was in the military herself. Either way, not something to be concerned about.
She smiled, “No problem! I’m here pretty often, so if you ever need my help, you can ask anyone and they should be able to send you my way.”
Celeste sighed in content. It had been a really wild, insane time but at least they made it out relatively scratch free (except for the big ole’ bruise Elliott would have… Poor guy.) It was quiet now, and getting a little awkward but not too bad.
She nodded, “I think that’s a good idea, although, you might need to be walked home too.” She giggled a little, shrugging, “I think they got the impression, though. I mean, I hope… Jeez.”
She perked a brow as he, in a very cute way, asked for her number. He was right, New York was a dangerous place. Of course, she didn’t really believe that. She blushed slightly, “One moment…” She grabbed her purse and pulled out a pen and an ordering pad that she accidentally brought with her a few nights ago. She really needed to put it back, but it kept slipping her mind. She wrote her number down and handed it to him, “I expect some type of text or call at some point, you know, to make sure you’re okay.”
Celeste was a bit perplexed at all the things the waitress brought, but Celeste didn’t say anything. She could live with extra sugar. Not a problem!
Celestina felt Jude’s hand on her jawline. It made her skin tingle, her body even shivered a little. She didn’t realize it entirely but she loved the feeling of him touching her. He moved in as she moved in. He wasn’t going to reject her. He wanted to kiss her just as much as she wanted to kiss him.
But then, their lips touched. She was kissing Jude, the cutest guy ever. She didn’t know how long they kissed but she kind of felt the seat begin to move. She didn’t want this feeling to end, well, ever.
But, he eventually pulled back. Celeste gave him a soft grin and let her forehead rest on his as she caught her breath. “H-hey you,” she whispered back to him.
She waited patiently as the man decided his dinner. She wasn't in a rush - she had a lot of things on her mind anyways. It was only a second later that he told her that he wanted the burger with the onion rings. He was taking her choice. She nodded, "Alrighty. It shouldn't be too long. I'll be back in a couple minutes." She waved and went over to provide the kitchen with his order.
It was about 15 minutes later when she returned with his meal and she smiled, putting it on the table in front of him, "Careful, it's hot." She smiled as she brushed her hands on her apron. "Is there anything else I can get you?"
She winced, thinking about poor Maya. It had to be rough to have gone through all of that. She bit her lip as she shuffled in the hospital bed some. She really hoped next year wouldn't be the same, though. That would be pretty crappy. She wasn't sure if she could handle it next year. She made a mental note to do nothing that day - just stay in bed all day and hide. That would be a great way to avoid crazy stuff.
She gasped a little as Maya continued talking about previous Halloweens. She shook her head... "Yeah... Alternate timelines can invite all sorts of crazy sh*t..."
Celeste smiled at the happy child. It made her happy that he was happy.
After they were at the bus stop, it wasn’t long before they were on the bus and heading towards Xavier’s. She smiled towards the boy as they walked onto the bus. “I live there right now. It’s kind of like a boarding school? Except, for people like you and me. Mutants.”
After about 20 minutes, they arrived at a stop near the mansion. She nudged him as they walked off the bus, “Anddd we’re almost here! Just a little longer and we’ll be there. They will be able to help you find your family.”
