The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She blushed and shrugged a little, "Well, thanks. I mean, I dunno how common it is. But, it works pretty good. Lots of space below. Unless it like collapses or an earthquake or something, it's pretty good." She nodded a confirmation after she rambled for a minute. She placed the flowers on the desk. In either case, she kind of looked around the room. She suddenly wasn't entirely sure what to do. She felt like it would be more interesting showing him the dorm room. She did hope that he didn't completely think she was crazy.
He handed her a plastic wrapped calendar and she perked a brow. "Oh, thank you. You're bringing me all sorts of gifts today. Eh, I'm trying not to keep it a secret. No one seems to really care. At least, on this floor." She smiled as she held it. It was sweet he brought her all these gifts. She felt bad that she hadn't gotten him anything. She'd figure some way to make it up to him, though.
She was about to take the plastic off the calendar but she saw him climb up onto her bed and then... Plop right onto it! She grinned, put the still wrapped calendar on her desk, and climbed the ladder until she was partially up. "It is pretty comfy. It does the job, that's for sure." She could confirm that much, at least. "I kinda wanta leaves the lights on most of the time, since it's just barely enough to light anything. The roomie, though, hates it." She gave a little shrug. It was one weird thing she was getting use too - Celeste didn't sleep that much. Her roommate, on the other hand, did. Maybe next semester she could find an apartment or something so it wouldn't be so incompatible.
She shook her head at his question about a T.V. "No T.V." She then climbed up and... Practically jumped on! She was careful not to completely smash him of course, and she made sure to at least slightly roll so he wouldn't be squished by her body. "There is some books right there, beside your head against the wall." She should probably get a little T.V. or something, though.
She mostly kept looking towards the water. It was easier to look there than to look at Devon right now. They were emotional and seeing him sad would make her even more sad. Which would just spiral everything into tears. It was better for her to focus on her reflection.
She nodded. He was right, after all. They were hurt. They were damaged. It was something they were going to have to confront, somehow, and eventually move past. Neither of them could continue to suffer like this. Maybe that was the worst thing the witches did - they scarred all of us. She sighed, thinking about people who were harmed - either by her, Tempest, or other people during the chaos. She still wasn't sure what all was real and was fake. That was especially true with the people. Sure, she knew her parents weren't actually there trying to kill her. But she didn't know if people really were pulling their skin off and everything else.
She nodded as she listened to him. Talk to a therapist, a psychologist, a trained mental health professional. She wasn't really sure if she wanted or could do that. He then admitted he hadn't even been following his own advice, that he couldn't sleep. "Some of it wasn't real... But to our minds, it was. That makes it real." She murmured quietly, "They were really screwed up." She said it a little more bitterly than expected.
She felt the tinge in her eyes as he spoke. They both felt bad for the people they hurt. She knew he did, and he knew she did. She looked up to meet his gaze as best as she could, but her eyes faltered several times. Hopefully, it wasn't too obvious she was holding back some tears.
She could tell he was trying to be a professional - to make her feel better. She wished she was a psychologist so she could help him better. "You didn't lose it... You were naturally acting to the situation. You can't blame yourself for that. No one.. Can blame for what happened in their, expect for those... Monsters. I mean, look at me. I basically went supernova. I made a lot of people really sick." Basically the entire garage at the time, but hey, who needs specifics. She used her free hand to touch the still pink scar from her stab wound. Not only was she mentally scarred, she was physically scarred.
Celeste had a pretty normal day going on - she was writing her final paper for one of her classes (yes, her final paper already.) She didn't really have anything else to do. She couldn't cook, she didn't really need to go anywhere, she was off today and the library was probably closed due to the weather. So she was stuck in here, with nothing to do besides actually getting ahead.
Luckily for her, an email came through. Haven had a special mission - one that involved trendiest clothes? She shrugged. It was a way to get out of the dorm room, at least.
She quickly took a shower, put on a red, lacy dress with black heels, and did her hair in a slightly less messy bun. She checked herself for a bit before she checked the time - it was time to go.
After a bit of time, she finally arrived in front of Club Inferno. She wasn't expecting to get nervous, but she suddenly was. She had only just been initiated into Haven - she knew most of the people, but not well. Really, Nate and Devon where the only ones she really knew.
Haley was at the door and welcomed her in, telling her she hoped she had a good time and telling her what the mission was about - get to know your colleagues. Celeste stomach dropped a little, not expecting her first mission in the group to be a friend making retreat. Either way, it was going to be good! She was sure she'd get along with all of them, particularly in a more friendly setting.
Once inside the club, she saw a woman wearing a beautiful short sequin dress and Jack or Chief, is what she believed her name was. She couldn't exactly remember. With that, she awkwardly made her way into the club before finding an empty area of chairs where she sat, crossing her legs. She wasn't the greatest at group gatherings.
She had to agree with him there - greasy didn't always mean bad. It was good food which made it better, at least. It just didn't' seem like the most healthiest choices. She giggled at his comment about feeding her brain. Again, he was right. She figured healthier meals would be in the college, but she was surprisingly wrong. Apparently pizza & chicken wings were the best food for brain juice.
She grinned and chuckled a little. It turned out he had been working out, or at least, picking up heavy things. He even flexed an arm to show off his newfound strength. She giggled and of course, she used her hand to feel the 'newbie gain' as he called it. He wasn't wrong - there was the beginning of a muscle there. She nodded, impressed. "You're pretty much a pro, then. You're going to be a bodybuilder before you even know it." She gave him a teasing wink.
Upon entering her dorm room, Celeste couldn't help but beam with pride. Sure, she didn't have that many things and most of it was old stuff, but she still managed to make it look cute. He even called it cute. "Yeah, I like it a lot. Plus, the bed being above makes it seem like there is sooo much more room." She glanced over to her roommates side, which had her bed on the ground. It looked a lot less spacious.
She nodded and laughed a little, "Yep, it sure is. I'm sure I'm going to need it doing those late night papers right before they're due." She would never wait till the night before they were due. But still, just in case. Plus, she liked coffee anyways. "But, yeah, make yourself at home." She motioned to her side of the room. "I don't really know where I got that license plate thing from, but uh... Yeah, there it is." She shrugged.
Glancing at the fridge that was provided by the university, she shook her head, "It's just missing me getting my own little fridge thing."
She smiled as he kept up by skipping. She felt like he was a good kid. She hoped that she could find someone, anyone to help at the Mansion. If she couldn't... Well, at least he was safe. And she'd be there to help if she could. He was ahead of her, up the stairs and nearly at the entrance.
She smiled as he waited. She chuckled, "It is a very fancy school, yeah. But a lot of people live here - it's home to a lot of people." It was becoming her home, too. "Yeah, we need to find one of the teachers as soon as possible." She opened the door and motioned for him to go in.
Celeste looked into the reflecting pond. She had avoided looking at herself in the mirror for a while - she knew the bags under her eyes were worse than usual. She could see them easily in the pool. She could see herself, her fears, her dreams, all in that person staring back at her. She - they - had been through so much. She wasn't sure how she'd managed to keep herself going. Halloween was a huge setback for her, at least emotionally.
She nodded. She was glad she was too - it was one of the many concerns she had. What if she hated it? What if she was really bad? Or didn't fit in? None of those fears seemed justified now. But as the saying goes, hindsight is 20/20.
She nodded as she listened to him. He was right. It was about the relationships, the networking, the experience to be in college. The coursework was important, but ultimately the experience of being there was just as much, if not more, important. "I'm going to try," she was able to confirm. She had hoped to make all sorts of connections at school - but also in Haven. She wanted to change the world - and these couple months made her want to even more.
She paused as she listened to him carefully. He wanted to talk about Halloween. He was the first to mention it. She was initially nervous to be the first one to bring it up but he did. That was good. The last time she talked about Halloween was with Mirror - and that was right after she woke up from the coma. She fiddled with her fingers as she listened to him. He wasn't sleeping, he's tried talking about it, and Celeste could only presume they didn't help very well.
She reached over and grabbed his hand in hers for comfort, "I... I can't sleep. And if I do... It's terrifying." It came out more as a whisper, more weaker than she expected. She took a breath, "You are not failing yourself, though. We... We're surviving. We're doing the best we can." She nodded, unsure if her words really made sense but for her. She wasn't even sure if she was trying to convince him or herself. She had no other option than to keep pushing on than to let the dreams, the feelings, knowing that she was the primary murder of someone (even if they weren't good people.) She already felt the emotions beginning to dwell up.
She felt like she had a huge grin ever since she saw him. She really should try to not seem like a love stricken, crazy girl. Hopefully, Jude didn't think she was crazy for being as happy to see him as she was.
She giggled at their half kisses. It was cute, either way, plus there would be plenty more kissing time later, anyways. They had all the whole evening, after all. She admired the flowers a little more. Jude was so thoughtful - one of the many reasons she liked him.
She was glad it was an easy trip for him - that meant it would be easy for him to visit her but also for her her to get to him. Which, really, probably would be the better option since she was sharing an entire building with probably like hundreds of people. The next bit of compliments made Celeste blush and look away from him. "You look pretty good too, you know," she nudged him playfully. She laughed, "Greasy. Very, very greasy." She was not the biggest fan of the food, but it was filling at least.
She leaned into him as he had his arm around her. She felt like they fit nearly perfectly. She pointed down the hall, "Right down there." She smiled as they finally reached the entrance. She opened the door, "home sweet home!"
Celeste was so excited. They had seen each other a few times, but the past month or so was particularly busy for Celeste. From Haven, to school, to everything else. And sure, maybe she could have even gotten his help moving some of her belongings. Her relatively limited belongings, but still. She wanted to make sure it was nearly perfect before she invited her boyfriend into her dorm. It wasn't like the brief stay at the Mansion, or at the Booker's apartments, or even at the apartment with her passed away roommate.
She sighed and really realized how crazy the past few months had been. She was lucky to have Jude by her side during it all.
In either case, she lit up at the text that popped across her screen. He was almost here! She smiled at her phone, opened the text, but then re-locked her phone. No reason for a reply if he was nearby. Although, Celeste did check the time really quick. Celeste was already near the entrance, so she saw him through the two glass doors. She got up from the chair and quickly went and opened the door for him to get him inside.
At first, she missed the flowers. She was just happy to see him. Once they were inside the building, she gave him a smile as she looked at the flowers. "Awe, they are beautiful." She gave them a sniff (although she really had no idea if they even would have a smell.) After she had them, she carefully held the flowers in her right arm while she reached over to give Jude a hug with her other, with a small kiss on his cheek. "How was it getting here?"
He seemed to try to argue with her, kinda. It was a flirt, of course, but she was too busy in his kiss now.
---
She was, yet again, not sure at all how much time had passed. She was laying on the floor in the living room, trying to catch her breath... Again. He was good, really good. He was the only one who lasted this long. Of course, she figured the night might still be young - the sun hadn't started coming up from what she could tell.
She got up to walk over to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water from the fridge. They had to stay hydrated during their... Sessions.
She really wasn't entirely sure why she was touching him, letting her fingers glide over his body. The biting, the nibbling. He couldn't feel any of it. Yet, Seleste knew he was enjoying it. Somehow.
Anyways, who cared? She was getting her thrill and this was her definition of fun, so. Whatever. The man did have a pretty high stamina. And he thought he could go ahead, which was great but kind of surprising. Most guys bailed out.
She perked a brow and gave him a playful grin, "I can... Handle you, very well." She gave a smile. As he went in to kiss her, she pulled herself on top of him, continuing the kiss.
She smiled at his smirk. It seemed like he was thinking about something but he ended up with a simple 'I hope.' She hoped, too. Celeste still couldn't really understand... Well, everything that had happened that day. It seemed too crazy to really feel like it was real.
She knew it was all part of their lives, being mutants, though. People were jerks, particularly to those with physical mutations. It was a cruel world and it would probably stay that way. Despite their breakthroughs in technology and everything else, humanity wasn't that great at learning a pretty simple lesson: treat others with respect and dignity.
In either case, she nodded. She went ahead and put her actual phone on the table. Afterwards, she'd lean back and take a sip of her milkshake. Mmm. The coldness helped sooth the warmth she had felt just 30 minutes prior. That was half of the reason she got it - just for the coldness.
She was slightly caught off guard at the question but she smiled. She wasn't that great at answering that question - 'what did she do for fun?' She laughed at his comment side comment though. She thought for a moment, "Well, I cook, volunteer at the library, read a lot, singing, hiking... I dunno, visiting museums and stuff." She shrugged a little, "What about you?"
She couldn't keep the desire off her face and she leaned in, nibbling on his ear, cheek, and lips. Not a lot of guys could keep up with her, but he seemed to be able too. Maybe it was because of the no feeling thing. Maybe it was just his way. In either case, he was one of the few people that made her actually feel good. Granted, most of the guys she'd slept with had been for a reason - not so much as enjoyment.
She nodded, seriously. "Yeah, round two." She cracked a grin and laughed, "I'm not sure you really know what you've gotten yourself into, Winchester. If it's one thing, I am always ready for the next round." She gave him a smirk and a barely noticeable wink.
She grinned towards him as he tried to read her. One good thing about being a psycho b*tch? You knew people and knew exactly how to manipulate them. He, of course, went for it. The question was more along the lines of... Was he manipulating her and she couldn't see it? It was something she had to think about.
She didn't really expect it but he ripped her dress off. She gasped, acting a little surprised even though she found it to be the hottest thing ever. No one had ever done that to her before. "Oh... I think I know exactly what I want to have wrapped on me right now."
---
She didn't know how much time had passed, but she laid on her side on the bed. She had her hand keeping her hand up and she let her hand tip toe around his chest. She felt pretty content - not quite done, but content. The apartment was a total mess. A few neighbors hit on her doors, clothes were everywhere, the mattress was a couple inches off the bed, and several lamps had been knocked into the floor.
