The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Celeste was pleasantly surprised with their encounter - it had been by complete chance, but it turned out that fate had mysterious ways of working. Maybe this wouldn't be the disaster she thought it would be. Maybe, maybe they would actually be able to get rid of this and be done with it. She gave him a small, thankful smile. Soft spot for mutants. "Thank you so much," she said quietly.
She took the business card and looked it over. She perked a brow at his question, thinking of an apt response. How badly did she want to take this? Did she want to destroy them - like how they wanted to continue to destroy her life, even when she didn't have anything to do with them anymore? Well, this probably wouldn't destroy her life but it could have had serious ramifications.
She hesitated for a moment as she thought. She caught the gleam. He did this for a living. He probably loved to take people down. But, unlike her parents, Celestina wasn't too vengeful. "How about in the middle?" She offered. That would give him a fun fight, her revenge, and she wouldn't feel too guilty about any of it.
She watched his reaction carefully, nervously. She wasn't sure, really at all, what he might say. Maybe she was screwed & would somehow have to come up with the money. How though? She'd never be able to get that much money quick enough. She bit her lip as she waited.
She nodded, her face slightly looking downcast before he mentioned it wasn't impossible. "They don't know them, or anything, really." She sighed and shrugged a little, "They didn't know my friends in Regina, I'm pretty sure they'd find it very hard to figure anything out here, either."
She stared at him for a moment, with his offer. Would he really help? Pro Bono at that? She had a shocked look on her face, "Are... Are you sure?" She said quietly. A complete stranger was willing to take his time & work, at no cost, to help her. She'd of course accept his offer, but she was cautious. Maybe he was just joking or something.
She grinned, shrugging a little, "Well... I can guarantee this is not like the Mansion. I mean, freedom, not having people always in your business... Kinda, at least." It wasn't really like that was true - after all, you lived with basically a stranger in a tiny little room with barely any room. In either case, it was part of the fun, presumably.
Celeste pulled her arms around him as he snuggled into her neck as she pulled him against her body, closer than before. A small murmur exited her lips as she felt his lips dance across the skin on her neck. "I'm not sure if this is wrong or just... Amazing," she murmured in return quietly.
Celeste had the boy that she was crazy about - someone she wanted to be with for a long time, at least. He was amazing, in all ways, to her. They'd have their ups and downs as any couple would, but they already made it through one. She had been so busy and he had accommodated her so much.
She smiled towards him as he kissed her jawline. She slightly struggled, but gave him a soft kiss on forehead. "I missed you too, Jude." So much more than she expected, truthfully.
Celestina fiddled her hands in her pockets as she stared into the pool, trying to filter through the many different emotions she felt. There was so many that she couldn't possibly keep up with them at this point. She knew that she needed to get them out, but how could someone get them out when you couldn't exactly describe it besides angry, sad, depressed, or some mixture of rage?
With a sigh, she gave Devon a weak smile and nodded. That was the best thing they could do. Listen. She nodded as he spoke, carefully taking in what he explained. He was right, after all. She could be crazy and might have supernova fully innocent people with no bad guys. It's not like it hadn't happened before - at school that one day, a life time ago. No one died, but still. Making everyone radioactive in your class wasn't a great way to end your day.
A doctor. She really needed to talk to someone, too. But then again, she was talking with Devon. Maybe she could live through most of it, for now. She felt better just knowing she wasn't alone in this. Even someone as amazing, intelligent, and awesome as Devon was going through this, it made her feel better in many ways.
She smiled again, "We do have to take care of each other." She sighed, taking a breath. "We'll never be them, right?" It was a slightly rhetorical question, slightly serious. What if something triggered in them and made them crazy, willing to hurt so many with no cause? Maybe, ultimately, he was right - maybe the fear that she could be one of them had anchored part of her subconscious into a rut.
She grinned, with a small giggle. She wasn't so sure about that, but that was most of her hobbies - when she had time, anyways.
She perked a brow, resting an elbow on the table and using her hand to rest her head. She grinned at the mention of Indie bands. She liked Indie bands. She wasn't so sure about the weird music part, though.
She'd need some clarifications on weird music later. Martial arts made sense - especially considering the performance several minutes ago with the jack*sses. She perked a brow, "Victorian robots with a steam=powered giraffe? I mean, count me in."
She perked a brow as her phone lit up. She grinned and replied back, "Victorian Robots with a steam-powered giraffe? What's weird about that?"
Celeste sat back down after the introductions. She smiled, they were truly an adorable couple. She readjusted herself, getting settled into her chair with her newfound company. She laughed a little bit at Blaine's mention of preferring to the bouncer. He looked like he could be the bouncer, that was for sure. "Eh... I don't think social situations are anybodies forte, honestly." She motioned to herself, "as you can tell, from the girl hiding from everyone."
Her attention focused to Jess and she had to nod. It was probably a lot different being with him off duty and she could see why it would be preferable. She wondered what Lee did - she knew Blaine was a bouncer or something, but Lee hadn't let on too much about herself yet.
She grinned sheepishly, "I dunno... I'm really new. As a part of this organization." New at everything... A new internship, a new organization, a new school... At least they hadn't seen her face plastered on T.V. at the mutant rights protest last year. That was a plus.
As soon as she opened the door, when she heard... The guidance counselor screaming? Celeste looked up the stairs at the woman running down, confused as to what was going on. She knew it had to be serious for a guidance counselor to be freaking out like she was. After all, while Celeste had never met Ms. Taylor, she knew about her through other students who loved her.
After a second, it hit her. Chase? That was his name. Then like a light bulb, she realized who he was. She didn't have classes with Mr. Cervantes nor knew Ms. Taylor, but she knew they were together and had a kid from just knowledge of being in the school.
After this realization, she relaxed a little. She knew Ms. Taylor was a good person and wouldn't try to hurt the kid.
She nodded a confirmation, "I guess that is your name, Chase." She smiled, relieved that her plan worked out. "I found him at the mall. I was worried and no one wanted to help, so I brought him back here. I... I didn't really know what else to do." Like call the cops, or something. Isn't that what she should have done? Oh well... "I think that is your mom," she said towards Chase with a big grin.
She fiddled with her thumbs as she waited for him finish thinking. She mainly kept her eyes towards the door and to see if the other waiters & waitresses would actually take those orders.
She shook her head, "No. My father tried to adjust, but he ended up being like my mother. Avoided me, didn't talk to me." She shrugged a little. They basically ignored her. Fed her 2 meals a day and barely ever acknowledged.
She took a deep breath. She shook her head, "No one up there, anyways. I've told a teacher and my boyfriend, but not really anyone else." She thought for a moment, "I don't think they would."
She smiled as she watched him tap the string of lights. She shrugged a little, "I mean, I'm not about to fight over something like that. Not really worth it, anyways." She grinned a little, "But you know, I might turn them on when she's already asleep or something." After all, she did like to do things into the night - something her roommate didn't do.
He was cute looking all relaxed in her bed. Granted, after she jumped on him, she found herself laughing with him. His joke only made her laugh a little more. It wasn't the most sensitive joke, but it was still funny. She inhaled, holding air in her cheeks before exhaling, laughing a little more. He was a fun person.
She was on her side. Her eyes gazed upon his face and she couldn't help but smile. She really liked him. And they had a connection she really had never had before. She saw his hand reach towards him and a comment about being expelled and she nearly scoffed, "Well, this is a state university s--" She shook her head and laughed as he reached over to grab a book. Probably the one he'd grab is the Lies of Locke Lamora, a book Celeste was a few chapters into. It was also the thickest one of the group of books.
She kept her brow perked, "Well, as I was saying, this is a state university. I'm sure there are more worse things occurring than a cuddle puddle in a tiny bed."
She felt weird explaining her story to a stranger who was technically her customer. So much for a tip. In either case, maybe he would be able to help her. It'd be a blessing in disguise, but hopefully something could be done. She bit her nail as he read over the document. She didn't really understand all the legal mumbo jumbo, so she was grateful to have someone who was educated in the matters read it over. Even if he refused to help, maybe he'd at least give her some tips on what to do.
He began asking her questions. "It was early summer of last year. I was 17 when I ran away." Still a minor. That probably wouldn't look good. But they did take the powers out on her after she was 18 and they didn't even bother to call her, file a police report for a missing kid, when she was 17. That had to count for something. Maybe. She had no idea.
She shook her head, "I mean, if you want to count when I was a kid. They'd talk about getting me ready for college, but after my mutation revealed itself? Nothing. It all became about Isabel, my sister."
They were having a nice, good walk. It was a fun walk. It was most certainly a very de-stressing walk. Next thing she knew, they were in the center. Skyscrapers abounded in all directions as the eye could see. Granted, an eye couldn't see very far in this area - it immediately ran into a building. She wondered if this is kind what Corsucant in Star Wars looks like.
In either case, it took a moment before she realized that Dan had stopped and was admiring a particularly tall building. She perked a brow and waited for a second before he explained that he just wondered what it would be like to... Jump off the building? She perked a brow. "Um... You okay, though? I mean, you're not about to actually... Jump off a building or anything yeah?"
She walked with him until he mentioned about seeing the entire city. She perked a brow, her intuition telling her he was devising a plan. Oh boy... "Do... You think we can get up there?"
Celeste was busy typing away on her phone, sitting off in the corner. It seemed like most of the adults had congregated around the alcoholic section. Personally, she couldn't see the attraction to it. It didn't taste good, it made people make bad decisions, so on and so forth. In either case, she could understand why one might want to drown their sorrows in an alcoholic beverage and she truly wasn't one to judge. She'd probably be drinking it in a few years to, realistically.
As she stayed in her corner, she saw several other members enter. She knew Ranger, Devon of course. She then saw Nate, whom was the only reason she was with Haven. He recently recruited her and was setting her up for success with Haven and with certain political groups. It was a great decision and one she knew she wouldn't regret.
She saw a woman and a man coming towards her and she nearly gulped. She knew of them, but she had never actually met them. It was nice to finally put a face to their name. They had came as a couple - they truly were an adorable couple. She smiled as they approached and as Lee asked if they could join her. Celeste stood up to be respectful and nodded, "Of course, definitely!" She nearly beamed. "I'm Celestina, you can call me Celeste though. It's nice to meet you both! Enjoying the party-mission?"
She noticed that Lee wasn't drinking an alcoholic drink and mentally felt like giving her a high fiving her, but knew that would probably be rude. Or disrespectful to the guy who was drinking a drink. Or whatever. Maybe Celeste was just bitter that she wasn't 21 yet. Heck, would this guy even card her? She wondered for only a moment.
He wanted to hear it. He even offered to help. She hesitated for a moment - he was a random stranger, who probably was a lawyer of some sorts. At least, based off the stuff he had laid out in front of him.
She looked back towards the other people in the small diner and nearly huffed. They'd have to finally do some work, maybe.
With that, she took a seat across from him. It was going to be awkward telling him all of this, but he did ask to hear it. She fiddled with her hands on the table, "So... I'll try to keep it simple and short. But um, my parents hate mutants. A lot." She looked up at him and shrugged a little, "I mean, you know how the story goes. They had another kid to replace me, basically ignored me besides doing enough to make sure they wouldn't go to jail for starving me, that kinda stuff." She looked down, "So, when I ran away, I stole about 2,000 bucks to help me get here." She wasn't proud of doing it, but she did it to survive. She had to get away somehow. "Um, anyways, they haven't even tried calling, checking in on me, and then I got this... Thingy this morning."
She took it out of her apron and handed it towards him so he could take a look. It was basically a small courts summons - they wanted their 2,000 dollars back. She sighed, "I'm just trying to save money for school. They didn't do anything for me most of my life, and then instead of actually even checking in on me, they just sue me? I guess it's being sued, anyways." Sh*tty parents. Heck, she wasn't even sure if she wanted to even give them the respect of being called parents.
