The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. Ignacio shook his head, "nothing like that," though, he met that Juliette could. That woman could take the Sun's place if she wanted to. However, Ignacio would feel very sad since the Sun was his only source of power. That and maybe UV light.
He listened to her explain how the Gypsy culture saw mutation as a curse. Ignacio raised his eyebrows at that, "really? Back in Colombia, some view mutations as a gift from the old Aztec and Mayan gods," or so his parents believed that. They used to tell him that he held Tollan in his eyes. Of course they didn't think the Old Gods were real, but it was nice for Ignacio to hear growing up.
"You're a mutant too?" Iggy asked with wide eyes, "you should totally come back with me to the Mansion. You'll have all the free food you want, a place to sleep. You'd like it there."
>> "”Whatever happened, I’m sorry, Ignacio. I’m here if you need to talk to someone,”
Ignacio knew that Juliette was just trying to be hopeful, but he needed a lot more than just having someone to talk to. Though, it would be rude for him to outright decline, " gracias, señorita." He whispered his thanks before shoving more chocolate into his mouth. For some reason, it always made him feel calmer when he had the dark sweetness near by or in his mouth.
The young mutant watched as the woman across from her absorbed the colorful light from his hands and into herself. So she was like him? At least power wise they were similar. They had that in common, though he believed that Juliette had way better control over his powers than Ignacio did.
>> ”Don’t worry about it. Happens to the best of us,”
"...I doubt everyone turns into solar energy when they...freak out," The whites of his eyes slowly returned back to normal along with his kaleidoscope irises. Ignacio couldn't believe that he managed to embarrass himself in front of her. Now he would be known as unstable, too. If he was label unstable because of this, it wouldn't be entirely wrong. Emotionally, he was.
Ignacio took the glass of water and gulped it down. In a matter of seconds, the glass was empty. He sat it down on the edge of her desk and scooted so that he was on the brim of the seat.
"..." Could he trust her? They only just met and telling her what happened to his parents was just too much. She might go to the police and turn him in for involuntary manslaughter. However, the more he thought about it, he felt like he could trust her.
"...They're dead because of me." His voice was almost inaudible. He stared down at the carpet and ran his manicured fingers through his luscious hair.
"Moon beams? No, no. That's not me." Ignacio shook his head. He wondered if there was a mutant who did absorb energy from the moon. That would a very interesting encounter. Nonetheless, Ignacio scratched underneath his chin and smiled.
"You don't know the Mansion? It's for mutants," he explained, "the sister school to Xavier's Institute?" Maybe it was the fact that she grew up in the middle of nowhere as a gypsy. Iggy didn't know for sure. "And I'm a mutant."
Iggy chuckled at her wanting to both the bagel and the doughnut. "Alright, I will get you the bagel. That's the none sticky one." The teenage mutant moved over a bit and grabbed her a plain bagel. After a small pause, he also decided to grab her a dollop of plain cream cheese.
"Brown meat?" She meant the sausage. Ignacio gave her three pieces and turned to look down at her with a smile. "There you go! I think you can eat that for now. If you want more, I can give you more." Ignacio bent down to give her the plate of food.
When the little girl called him chica, he couldn't help, but to laugh. "It's chico for me, bonita. And I'm gonna get my food after you had yours," he paused for a second, "what's your name?"
Broadway, eh? Everyone wants to be on Broadway. Ignacio thought about doing that, but as said before, acting was no longer something he wanted to do. Or so he thought. Anyways, back to Martha. Ignacio looked down at her fiddle and tilted his head to the side. It was a nice looking stringed instrument.
"...Just curious, that is all. I came here from the Mansion and decided to go for a week to catch a couple of rays from the Sun while it's still up." Ignacio shrugged his shoulders. He plucked a piece of lint from his shoulder and flicked it off. How did that get there?
Ignacio shivered, "ugh, invierno. It comes too quickly here and stays so long. And the Sun is hardly out, too."The Sun was very important to Ignacio for several obvilious reasons. He fed off of the solar thermal energy that it radiates. Ignacio wouldn't be going too far north anytime in the near future.
From what he heard, if Alice and him ever went on vacation, they would fight and fuss about going somewhere else that was either cooler and warmer. "You are right about one thing: bikini weather does have it's obvious perks." Whether it was girls in a two piece or guys shirtless, it was a win for him.
"Yep! I've been here for three years so far," Ignacio answered with a smile, "and I'm a very sunny person. Literally." He chuckled a bit at himself. "And you?"
The yellow stuff? Did she mean the eggs? Ignacio wasn't too sure, but decided to put it on her plate anyway. He gave her a healthy amount and made sure not to give her too much just in case she didn't like it.
"And the bread with the hole?" Ignacio glanced at the bagels, then at the doughnuts. "Which one, chica? The sweet bread with the hole in the center of the plain on?" When he looked back down at her, it looked like she was blushing? Did he do something wrong? Ignacio furrowed his eyebrows more before letting up and giving the girl a smile. "What would you like after that?"
Ignacio still didn't understand why they needed a tanning bed, then. He understand tanning beds period. Weren't people purposely exposing their skin to UV light that causes cancer? Ignacio shook his head and decided not to ask anymore questions concerning tanning.
"You want to be a singer? Why not go to LA, then? That's where all the people who want to be famous go," Ignacio explained with a shrug of his shoulders. His kaleidoscope eyes glimmered in the light of the setting Sun. "...Where's Kentucky again?"
Gorgers? What did she just call him? Ignacio raised his eyebrows in question. As she went on to explain about her gypsy ways, he realized that "Gorgers" meant non gypsy like "gringo" meant non Hispanic in Spanish. "...sounds horrible! You get no Sun at all?!" Like that was the most important part. The teenage mutant stuffed his hands into his pockets and smiled a bit.
"...You could find a job? I used to have one acting in commercials, being an extra, and even a supporting actor once." Ignacio was very proud of his acting "career". He stopped because he realized that it wasn't something he wanted. Though, it was fun and paid well. Still paid well.
"Of course!" He paused, "no, not really," Ignacio shook his head, "I'm just a happy person most of the time," That was true when he was self hating himself and starting fights on purpose. Though, that was between him and the four walls of his bedroom.
"Norway? That's such an interesting country. Home of blue eyes and blond hair, right?" Or was the Sweden. No, Finland. Either one of those Scandinavian countries. He couldn't imagine going there. It was way too cold and not enough sun for Ignacio. If he ever were to visit those countries, he would have to prepare by standing out in the Sun for a week straight!
"It's good! a beautiful city with lots of colors. I can't to go back!"
"...Oh." Ignacio blinked. He didn't know what else to say other than that. If she missed her family, then why was she running away from them? Ignacio missed his family too and who run toward them if given the chance. The young mutant looked at the woman. She was quite interesting.
"...Tanning beds?" Huh, that was new. If they wanted to "emulate the sun", why not just go to the beach and hang out there. That's what Ignacio did when he wanted some sun time. Ignacio folded his arms over his chest and shifted his weight to one side.
"Well, that's new..." Iggy smiled some and rocked back on his heels and toes. "So, where are you from? Obviously not around here."
"...what are you talking about? What was a bad idea?" Ignacio asked, taking a half a step closer to the woman. She was certainly a change woman. What was she again? A gypsy? He didn't know a lot about gypsies except for Esmeralda. The teenage Sun god sneezed in his arm and blinked a few times.
Ignacio brought his face from his elbow and looked directly at the setting sun. He took in a deep breath and closed his eyes to enjoy it. "Ahh...doesn't the Sun just feel good on your skin?"
Ignacio gasped and looked at Chase. "What?! No, no! That isn't what I meant at all!" He touched his forehead and sighed. Sometimes he let didn't think about what he said so this was a real disappointment on his part. "Lo siento." He whispered with a huff.
"Well, the paraenthesis come first because it's simplist to solv-- hey, how did you get the answer already?" Ignacio asked, pointing to the final answer. "I thought you didn't know how to work out the problem?" Ignacio playfully nudged the guy. "I'm Ignacio by the way. What's your name?"
Ignacio raised his eyebrows. So she was living in her car? He blinked a few times and tried to wrap his head around what she was doing, but at least her car was clean. He would've offered that she come to the Mansion, but he didn't know if she was a mutant or not.
Ignacio also wondered how she paid for gas and the insurance on it, but realized that it was probably one of his business. It was none of his business. "Uh, so, you stay in a car? How do you...function? Like, where do you take care of your," he gestustered to her body in a swerving motion, "body?"
One of everything? Ignacio could do that no problem! Though, for such a small girl, he didn't know whether or not she would be able to eat everything that was on her plate. He turned to look down at the girl with a slightly confused look on his face.
"...Are you going to be able to eat all of this food? It's a lot after all." The buffet table had a whole host of foods to choice from. Maybe she needed was feeling adventurous and wanted to try everything so that she had a clear idea of what she liked and disliked. Still, Ignacio doubted that she would eat all of it.
"Maybe you want to stick with trying a handful of things before piling your plat up, yes?"
