The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I don't know much about bikes but I do know a thing or two about general awesomeness," Ambrosia answered with a cheery giggle. She had a strong sense of personal identity, a solid group of friends, a decent job she enjoyed and a passion for getting things done. In all that, what did she have to feel bad about? Some might say the fact that she was a mutant and a visible one at that, but those people were either ignorant or visible mutants themselves who hadn't had the opportunity to find the beauty in it. Life for her kind wasn't always easy, after all. That's why she was working so hard on changing that.
"So, are you doing anything this fine afternoon? What do you say I treat you to a coffee or a drink? You seem like an interesting sort of fellow." They type to be friendly towards almost everyone, guys sometimes thought she was being flirtatious when she was just being herself. Well, maybe sometimes those were one in the same but one shouldn't jump to conclusions, right? Expectations and assumptions got people in trouble, the universe had a way of lighting whatever path was most appropriate if you knew how to listen to it.
As she listened to the other woman's story about how her husband had left her, she felt a sudden flare of empathy. Husbands, as much as brothers and sisters and fathers and mothers, were supposed to be there for you, by your side forever. "I'm sorry he left you. That was a terrible thing for him to do." She maight have claimed not to be a pack person, but her words and understanding belied that claim.
She picked up the second triangle of grilled cheese and continued eating. "Maybe. I don't think I'm very good at friendship." Mostly because she didn't fully understand it; she'd never had the chance. Most people she'd met had been friendly towards her, but actual friendship had an ambiuous feel that was somewhere between stranger and family that was very hard to wrap her head around.
"I'm glad you came back, Amber. No one should have to be alone."
She picked up her third quarter of food. "Thank you. I think I'm glad I came back too." It was still kind of terrifying, but maybe just a little bit less so than an hour ago.

It seemed a little screwed up that because she hadn't been injured punishments were less. Didn't intend count for anything? Still, it was better than the alternative of a punitive justice system where vengeance and punishment far outweighed rehabilitation and change. Even if all they got was a slap on the wrist, maybe it would actually knock some sense into their thick brains.
"Whenever you like, my schedule is usually pretty open. I hope he didn't get hurt too badly." Some might find it unusual to actually feel sympathy for your attackers but, after all, she hadn't really gotten hurt and she didn't want any of them getting hurt too badly. They were young and stupid and angry, but they didn't deserve their lives to be ruined because of some stupid stunt done in their youth. Besides, bringing the gap between human and mutant had to start somewhere and she was tired of everything waiting for everyone else to take make first conciliatory action.
Walking inside the little pub, it seemed welcoming and casual. She sat down across from Rianne and took a look at the menu. "Gosh, there are a lot of options here." Taking a moment to scan through, she finally settled on something. "I think I'll choose watermelon honeydew melon."

Ambrosia laughed at the description of the performance, the sound coming across almost musical in nature. She could see that he didn't exactly look like the sort who frequented such things, but it was all the more fun to introduce those into the fold that didn't look and act like everyone else. She was certainly no biker herself, but she had a gift for getting along with people from disparate backgrounds. It wasn't the freaks and weirdos that were the problem; different shapes, styles and philosophies were all beautiful, it was those people who fell in the middle of the crown. Your 'traditional' types that promoted the needs of money and conformity and being 'normal'. Because where was the fun in that?
"We don't do this too often. Once every couple a months, maybe twice that in the spring and summer. Gathering mutants publicly like this, we have to change locations every time. The world is a hard place for those who are different and we learned a long time ago if we didn't change locations regularly the human supremists would come along to disrupt things. Or the mutants supremists, for that matter, who can't stomach the idea of mutants and humans getting along peacefully." The disgust at such people was evident in her voice.
"How about you? What do you like to do for fun, if not artsy, fancy dancing?"

She saw the sympathy in the older woman's face and that was comforting too. She seemed motherly and that was something Amber distantly remembered from the first time she had met her. Not that she'd ever really had a mother herself, but if she had she could imagine her being something like Ghost.
"What does it take? To have a pack or be a part of a pack?"
Amber happily picked up the plate of grilled cheese and started eating as she spoke. She remembered human rules of etiquette when it came to eating, well enough, and it was clear that she wasn't starving.
"Pack is supposed to be there for you, always. They're supposed to support you and comfort you and teach you things. Sometimes they're supposed to challenge you or reprimand you. What they're not supposed to do is leave you." Defeat verging on despair in her voice. Another bite of grilled cheese.

Well that settled that. It wasn't her fault and those thugs were dicks. Sometimes the obvious was just that: obvious. If only everything in life were that simple. Disgusting and objectionable, but still simple. On second thought, maybe complicated was sometimes better.
"I have absolutely no objections to margaritas," Ambrosia answered with enthusiasm. With all original intents to go directly from work to home for a quiet night alone before going to sleep, she wasn't exactly dressed for a night on the town but sometimes one just had to roll with the punches. Besides, there was something about being an elf lady that some found enchanting all on its own and she wasn't above using her physical gifts for a free drink or two.
"Whenever you need my statement, you let me know and I'll be there. I hope they get duly punished and maybe even learn from their misguided actions." Rehabilitation was much better than vengeance, of course, but it was right that they get a bit of just punishment as well otherwise you taught people they could do whatever they wanted without consequence. That helped no one.
The margarita place wasn't quite the type that Ambrosia tended to frequent herself; she was more partial to club nights with thumping base and laser shows. New experiences, however, were what life was all about and she followed the other woman inside.

"You shouldn't be ashamed of the gifts you've been given. They make you special, exceptional." The words might have come right out of her sister's mouth but, of course, if her sister were speaking them she would have also stated that those gifts made him better than mere humans. Amber wasn't sure if she believed that, but she did believe that all mutant gifts were precious, even ones like hers that made her into a monster, a parody of death. It was the price to be paid.
The question about her own powers didn't come as a surprise and she had never seen fit to keep them a secret. "I used to just change into dinosaurs. But then something happened and now I'm not sure if I'm entirely alive any longer." It was being half dead that was the struggle. If she wasn't alive, what was she? Could she even be considered human? Questions she might never have the answer to.
When Amber was offered the drink, her first inclination was to refuse it. At any other time she would have, but this wasn't every other time. This was the first step in a long journey to find her humanity and part of being human was drinking, or so she'd observed. So she accepted it and took a very small, very tentative drink. "This is terrible," she made a face at the taste and laughed a little.

Amber didn't really understand the appeal of alcohol. When she still lived among humans, she had been too young to drink and by the time she had come of age, she lived in the woods where there was little or no access to alcohol even if she had wanted it. She knew of its effects, of course, but in so knowing it seemed to have even less appeal. Why should she wanted to reactions and her senses to be dulled and clumsy? In the wild, a predator needed to be able to utilize all of its advantages in order to survive and thrive. She might not have been very good at being human, but she was very good at being a hunter.
"It must be nice not to have to sleep much. What are you powers?" The thought that asking about powers might be rude or invasive didn't' occur to her. Aura had always taught her that being a mutant was a precious gift and one's powers were beautiful advantages to be praised and admired. Even if her sister was gone, that didn't mean the memory of her teachings needed to die with her.
"My name's Amber," she extended her hand and returned the handshake. Her skin had a dry, sightly rough texture and her hand was slightly cool in temperature. "I don't really have another name." She knew many mutants who took on a second name; maybe it was time she did the same? In a way, it was like she was reborn in a new life, coming back, and maybe a new name was a good way to solidify that. The question was what? Going by Death seemed a little melodramatic, even if it did hold some truth to it.

Amrbosia could hear sirens approaching from the distance and, if nothing else, that meant this whole nightmare was close to its conclusion. Thank the Earth Mother for that! Maybe this whole experience was a sign that it was time she learned some proper self defense that went beyond blow some pretty and run/fly like hell out of there.
"I'm very sorry for interrupting your time off." Really, it was those disgusting thugs who should be apologizing but that didn't seem likely just at the moment and not just because they were presently unconscious. She smiled back. Couldn't feel too guilty for something that really wasn't her fault.
Ambrosia stayed out of the way and watched as the officers pulled up and did their thing. The assaults were placed in restraints and put into the back of the vehicle. Served them right, it did! Rianne conferred with her fellow officers and within a short period of time the entire unpleasant evening had drawn to its conclusion.
”Would you like to get something to drink? Put all this behind you.”
"Would I ever!" Ambrosia nodded with enthusiasm. "Did you have something in mind? Are you sure my tagging along won't ruin your night more than its all ready been ruined, or anything?"

There was something about the way the stranger moved, the way he spoke that reminded Amber of something predatory. Far from being something to illicit fear or intimidation, she found it strangely comforting. While she could take the form of any dinosaur and dinosaur related creature, her chosen true form had always been the deinonychus and she considered herself a predator at heart. There was a simplicity in it that most humans wouldn't understand, at least not on a conscious level.
Conversation was not something Amber was especially comfortable with. Even before she had gone to live in the woods she had been on the shy and timid side. Neither one of those words could likely be used to describe her accurately now, but there could be many reasons why conversation was hard. She could take on a snarling wolf single highhandedly and tear it apart with claws and teeth and yet couldn't seem to actually speak properly? What was wrong with her, anyway?
Fortunately, the stranger help alleviate any further discomfort by speaking himself and asking a question. "I usually sleep during the daytime. The sun burns me when I'm human." No further explanation. A pause, slightly awkward, before a slightly delayed realization that she should probably try to keep the conversation going. "What brings you out at this time? I find most people are asleep this late." At least it was a start.

It was always a thrill to perform and especially so when it was all building towards a good cause. Amrbosia enjoyed a good night at the club complete with thumping base and a top notch laser show as much as the next person, but this was where her real passion lay. A dance club had a different kind of energy while out here she could really connect to nature. Music and dancing were powers all on their own.
It took a few minutes for Ambrosia to make her way back to the red mutant. Certain social obligations were necessary, from saying goodbye to friends to speaking to interested and adoring fans. Well, maybe adoring might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but a girl could dream, right? The power of positive thinking went further than many gave it credit for.
Eventually, however, she managed to make her way out of the crowd and back to the newcomer, violin case in hand. "So, what did you think?" Feedback, negative and positive alike, was always welcome. The only way one knew what to work on was to be informed.
