The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Amelia got the whole problem with Adapted. Wait. No she didn't. What were Adapteds?
Maya asked her a question. "She isn't who I want him to be dating." She replied. Then, she tilted her head at her. "Now, two questions. First, what's an adapted? And second, when did you and her meet?"
>> "She isn't who I want him to be dating. Now, two questions. First, what's an adapted? And second, when did you and her meet?"
She arched an eyebrow. Ami had something on her mind. Maya already knew that she had wicked plans about her brother's dating life... but she wanted no part of it. Let alone drag Rupert into the whole plan. Nope.
"An adapted is someone who cancels mutant powers. Like the new counselor at school. And I met her because she's a friend of a friend. never had a long conversation though."
"Nope. I am in no way meddling, nor do I have any plans to." Amelia replied truthfully. "I am just curious. I want to know what my brother is getting himself into. I worry, you know?"
She sighed. As she paced across the office towards the desk, she clasped her hands behind her back. "I don't like her right now, but I hardly know her. I have a policy, Maya." She looked up thoughtfully to the girl. "If someone I love is dating someone, I don't purposefully do anything to break them apart. I try to be supportive." Not that she hadn't, at times, failed that... or meddled, in many attempts to set a brother up. Amelia scrunched up her face seriously as she bowed her head at a thought. "It'll just be difficult. Being supportive. And I can't not be. Because, you know?"
Again, she looked to her girlfriend for his thoughts. "I'd expect the same from him."
Aurum had been supportive. He was cool like that.
"This whole 'dating code' is a difficult set of ethics to uphold."
Chocolate was not as impressive as wine, but it required a lot less identification to buy. Also it didn't require for him to cook anything. He didn't want to do anything but eat if he could help it. Eat and have a good time.
He knocked at the door and wondered if he would really know anybody here. (Well, anyone besides the lovely Svetlana.) Why was he coming again? Oh right. The food. (And Svetty.)

Aurum glanced up from the table, which he was helping Riley set.
"Hey, Svetlana. Could you get that? It's probably Jude, or Kealey and Shin."
He returned his focus to the task at hand. At least Riley knew how to set tables. He would have to teach her how to bake at some point. Maybe they'd start with... pie.
>>"Nope. I am in no way meddling, nor do I have any plans to. I am just curious. I want to know what my brother is getting himself into. I worry, you know?"
Of course. Maya chuckled, looking at Ami. She was younger than Aurum, and he was a grown man, capable of managing his own life. And guess what? Ami was worried. That made Maya smile.

"Yeah, that's the thing about dating isn't it" she smiled, walking over to Ami to kiss her on the forehead "It's never simple. Good thing we are an exception."
They really were not. But Maya was in a good mood. Family Thankgiving does that to a person. "C'mon let's go back and be supportive. Food won't prepare itself."

The table wasn’t setting itself, and finally Riley felt like she had something she could do. Waiting tables from 16 to 18 in Chicago had its perks. Setting up place settings was like riding a bike. She almost told Aurum, since he seemed so fond of that phrase, but things were so hectic now that they were close to meal-time that she held back and just kept working.
Ami drug her girlfriend off somewhere and Riley wanted to snipe, but that would have been childish and mean spirited and this was supposed to be a nice family/friend affair. The door rang, and before Riley could go to answer it, Aurum delegated the duty to Svetlana.
He was good at all of this delegation stuff, and Riley couldn’t help but smile at him as he moved around the table, filling in the spaces she left for the things he was holding. ”If the lawyer thing doesn’t work out…you could totally open a restaurant.” she commented.
And then she was being introduced to someone.
As a rule, Riley didn’t like to meet new people. This one was no exception…but, she thought with a glance in Aurum’s direction, she’d promised that she would try.
”Hi.” Riley said, refusing to put a greeting and the name Jude in the same sentence.
”It’s nice to meet you.” She even smiled and gave a little wave.
Had he met Riley? "I don't believe I've had ze pleasure." Jude smiled enough that it crinkled the faint bruise left on his nose. He stepped up for a hand shake. She waved her hand at him instead. Jude changed his offered hand into a wave back to Riley before things got too awkward.
"I... uhh. I brought chocolate." Jude lifted the plastic net bag full of foil wrapped chocolate oranges. "Hope zat is okay?" Things were in full swing already and it smelled amazing. He just wasn't entirely sure what was appropriate for this kind of tradition the Americans had. Wasn't chocolate always a good thing to have on hand when women were about? He had felt more confident about it before he smelled the smells.
>>"It's never simple. Good thing we are an exception."
Good thing.
Gosh, she was okay with forehead kissies. Too bad they had to go back to the thanksgiving dinner. Wait. What the hell was she saying (thinking)?
"You haven't eaten anything Aurum had cooked yet, have you?" Amelia asked. She took Maya's hand, and led her back into the living room. "You are in for a treat."
The two of them reached the kitchen. Hey, Jude was here now! And...
"Ooh, chocolate!" Amelia was quite pleased about the chocolate being mentioned. Did it show?
>>”If the lawyer thing doesn’t work out…you could totally open a restaurant.” she commented.
Aurum smirked at her. "Well, I am set to inherit one, once my parents kick it." He said wryly.
And oh look! It was Jude. Aurum turned to smile at him. And his chocolate. Which Ami immediately appeared and appreciated.
"That's fine," He said. "Just set it on the counter. We can share it later, around dessert time."
"Dinner's nearly done, actually." He commented. "Just a few finishing touches, and..." Eight minutes later, everything was set up on the table and everyone was seated... except for Shin and Kealey. It was kind of a personal record.
>>"You haven't eaten anything Aurum had cooked yet, have you? You are in for a treat... Ooh, chocolate!"
Maya grinned, and snatched the chocolate before Ami could devour it, wrapping and all. Laughing at her girlfriend, she waved to the new guest that looked like the power booster's boyfriend, and put the chocolate up high enough onto a shelf where Ami couldn't reach. She knew that if her girlfriend really wanted to, she would find a way to take it...
... but it was time to set the table.
The dinner she helped with did look delicious; Bir Brother deserved his reputation. Maya smiled at everyone around the table (even Auntie); there has been too ling since she had a family dinner, and none of them was ever this crowded...

Amelia shot Maya a dirty look. Like she'd have eaten the ENTIRE thing. She'd have shared. Some.
Oh well. That was for dessert.
And so, everyone settled in for a nice big meal. Well, mostly everyone. Not Shin. Or Kealey. But wait.
Knock knock knock!
Amelia exploded up from the chair and hit the front door. She flung it open. Shin and Kealey stood in the doorway.
"Hi," Shin grinned at Amelia. "Sorry we're late. Ran into a giant turkey. I, uh. Brought bread." He held up the loaf.
Amelia stared. Then, casually she took it. "Okay. That will work." She chuckled. She looked to Kealey. "I see you brought potatoes, too. Well. Come on in. We're just getting down to the good part."
Shin looked to Kealey. "Great."
The door swung shut behind them as Shin and Kealey went to the table. They deposited the spuds on the couch along the way.

"We actually made potatoes...but they're on the back of some guy's jacket." Kealey explained as she moved into Aurum's apartment and went to work at getting out of her coat.
They were a little late, the table was set, people were seated, and Aurum was directing traffic like the well-honed kitchen aficionado he was. It looked like they were just waiting on the last two people to sit down. Oh yeah. That was them.
Kealey made her way to one of the two open seats and sat down...into a bubble of silence.
Before she'd made it to her seat, Kealey had been awash in all the happy feelings that generally accompany a Thanksgiving meal. The same emotions that had induced tears at the last one she'd attended. Now that she'd sat, she was alone in her head, head swimming a bit in all of the silence. That had only happened one time before.
With Jacen.
Kealey knew everyone at the table. Everyone except for the woman sitting across from her. Blue eyes rose from the place setting to meet...blue eyes.
"She cancels my powers" Sveta said cheerfully. It was an important bit of information. She threw a half apologetic glance to Riley though, with a bit of blush in her cheeks. She did not seem to be in a cheerful mood.
>>"I... uhh. I brought chocolate. Hope zat is okay?"
"That is great" she smiled, but Ami's girlfriend snatched up the chocolate and stashed it away for after dinner. That was probably a smart move. Sveta chuckled, and went to help the others set the table.
Just when they were about to settle down, Shin and Kealey arrived. Sveta smiled and waved at them; they were late, and apparently they had a story to tell. She was sitting next to Riley, for safety purposes... and she could see the look on Kealey's face when she sat down too. That made her chuckle.
She needed to give thanks for mutation canceling powers.
