The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The words reaching Iris still didn't quite make sense to her, but they seemed to be getting angry again. She curled up a little tighter in reflex.
Atop the ice dome, the frozed cat unwrapped itself and stood upright, arching its back a little. A thin layer of ice crept outward over the floor, freezing the two arguing girls in place for a moment.
"Friends.... calm..." Iris's voice seemed to come directly from the ice, as opposed to from her. The ice shivered a bit, then shrunk back again as she struggled to control it again.

Nicki's head swung around quickly, looking over to Iris. Instantly she could tell that the girl might lose her calm if she wasn't surronded by people with calming emotions...and that wasn't Nicki. Granted, that wasn't the other girl either, but Nicki knew she might make Iris worse.
Nicki bit down on her lower lip, hard. She turned towards the other girl, pointing angrily at her. "I'm doing this for Iris!" Nicki sighed and grabbed Nika's wrist. "And look...just don't kill yourself okay" Nicki sighed at the girl. She really was just trying to make sure as few people as they could got hurt.
Aurica quickly turned her head toward Iris as her Ice crept forward and they were frozen in place for a second. Aurica got a worried expression across her face, but she shook her head quickly cause she knew that she had to stay calm. She took in a deep breath, and let it out, calming her a little bit. Now Aurica was having doubts in her powers, but she was slowly finding the confidence from somewhere. It was probably from Michael who actually believe she could do it. Aurica turned her head a bit, that expression coming back across her face when she heard the girl saying, "I'm doing this for Iris!" Aurica turned her head only to see her pointing at her. Aurica just took in a deep breath again and let it out. Aurica then heard her say, "And look... just don't kill yourself okay?" With that, a little smile came across her face. Aurica felt that the girl was worried for everyone, but it couldn't be helped that they had no other idea. She saw both the girl and Nika leave the room. She turned toward Shawn and gave him a sort of nod, indicating to him that he should leave now. Aurica then positioned herself between both Iris and Michael, but she was off to the side, she wasn't literally between them. She looked toward Michael.
Ted watched the argument wage back and forth, and saw some of the people leave. He didn't care that Michael was in there; he could take care of himself. But the other girl could get killed if she wasn't careful. Ted hit the intercom so that they could here his voice, "Here's a wacky idea, how's about you come up here and leave Micheal down there. Can your powers work from further away? Cause if necessary you can sit outside the danger room doom, and we'll close it if Iris decides to go back to breaking things." Ted considered this a good idea, as with the door open the girl could still do whatever it is she's going to do, but if Iris reverts back to how she was when she first arrived then the door can be closed and she can play with Michael.
Michael watched the argument rage, but didn’t step in for two reasons. One, Nicki was his friend and he didn’t want to make her mad, and two, they were talking about stuff he had no clue about like the difference between telepathy and empathy.
When they finally concluded to give it a shot and Aurica got ready Michael had an idea. “Aurica, is there anyway you can do this with me between you and Iris?” he asked, “That way if this does go wrong I’ll take the brunt of whatever Iris throws at us.” He didn’t want to see Aurica get hurt.
Turning to look up at Ted when he spoke he said, “Ted, can you prep the danger room to give us some support if it all goes nuts down here? Hopefully you won’t have to turn it on, but it would be nice to know it’s there. What we need is some way to get Aurica to the doors fast. If this goes wrong first priority is getting Aurica out of the room.”
Turning back to Aurica he gave her a reassuring smile. “I still think you can do it,” he said, “but we’d best be ready for the worst. We know how bad this can get and so have to have a plan to get you out safely.”
Aurica and Nicki argued for a moment but in the end Nicki decided to just let Aurica try her idea. Nicki grabbed Nika and pulled the cat girl away from Iris. Nika didn't put up a fight and just went along with her roommie. She wanted to help Iris and if this was how it had to be then she wouldn't hold up the plan any further.
When they got up to the obseravtion room Nika hugged Nicki. It wasn't so much as a greeting but more of a comforting gesture for herself. She just wanted Iris to be back to normal and she knew she couldn't do as much as she wanted to do to help. "I hope this works and Iris is ok. I know I got pretty rough with her. Do you think she'll remember what happened and forgive me Nicki?"

Raina let out an aggrivated sigh "we need more adults around here..." When Ted said his speal she couldn't help but laugh. His sarcastic tone just went to show how dumb the situation was. "This is such a long shot..." she admitted grabbing a chair to sit on. "MICHEAL YOU BETTER NOT SCREW THIS UP! YOU DONT HAVE SOME ACHILIES HEEL YOU HAVENT TOLD US ABOUT 'EH?" her canadian-ness was showing and she turned red a little. But she was serious. This whole plan could be botched is Micheal had 'weak ankles'
Ted pretended to clean out his ears as he turned to Raina, "think you could shout a little louder? Because I didn't quite catch that." Turning back to the window, he waved down at Micheal. "No problem, I've already given these a spin, they don't seem too hard." Ted then turned off the intercom so that he could focus. He talked to himself as he looked over the controls, "Ok, so those were the ones I used last time, they activate the training programs, better not touch those. Hmm, these have SAFETY written over them, that could be a bit of a clue. Now let's have a look at them, that one says Cage, I'm not sure that a 'down comes the cage' situation would be useful, probably wouldn't be strong enough anyway, moving floors, that wouldn't help, hmm, claws, lets have a look at these." Ted hit the button, and a pair of claws on the end of metal tentacles slipped out of the walls in the danger room. At the same time, a new set of controls appeared. "Hmm, looks like game controls, these must move the arms. Nice, I should be able to use these to move Auri from one end of the room to the other quickly. That would get her to the door quickly, I like it." Ted hit the intercom again, "Guys, I got a plan. See the tentacle things above you? I have complete control over them, so I should be able to pick up Auri and move her to the door quickly if all hell breaks loose. Like the plan, or want me to find something else?"
“So long as Iris doesn’t hit my left ankle we’ll be fine,” said Michael, smiling up at Raina to show he was joking, “Relax, I’ve yet to find anything that can hurt me, and I’ve fought Ted’s furry side and three of Iris’ powers without so much as a scratch.”
He looked down at his now rather tattered clothes, “Well, without so much as a scratch on me. I think I’m gonna need to throw these out afterward.” When Ted explained his get away plan he looked up at the tentacles.
“Might be a little rough, but better than being stuck in here. Once Aurica’s free I’d appreciate a hand in containing her, but only through the danger room controls, no point in risking any of you guys down here.”
Aurica heard what Michael said, and just went behind Michael. She looked up towards the ceiling, took a deep breath and let it out. Bringing her head back down, she closed her eyes, and took in another breath. A second within that breath, her body jerked somewhat. She started breathing hard, and when she opened her eyes, a couple of tears started rolling down her face. Closing her eyes, Aurica took in another deep breath, and her body jerked once more. Her breathing slowed down, and her face loosened up a bit. Her head tilted back, and when she opened her eyes, they were nothing but pure white. Her body started to glow as you could see an aura now surrounding all of them, with a little link connecting Aurica to both Michael and Iris. Her breaths getting shorter and shorter, you could see a chain starting to form between Michael and Iris. You could hear Aurica struggling, trying to make the connection.
S-something... isn't... right...
Aurica gritted her teeth as the connection stopped, the auras quickly disappeared, and some sort of shock flung Aurica into one of the walls in the danger room. Grabbing the back of her head, Aurica got back up and started walking toward Michael.
"Okay... that kinda hurt."
She stood once again behind Michael, trying to figure out what went wrong. She felt both emotions, she had the connection made from both of them to herself, and the connection between the two was beginning to form. Aurica had absolutely no idea what went wrong.
"I don't get it. I had it. The connection was forming between you guys. But now that I think about it, once the connection started happening, her fear was overpowering your calmness. Like...I was barely feeling it. There has to be a way to make it so once I start the connection it doesn't over power your emotion, I just can't thi-"
Aurica had stopped mid sentence, and slightly turned her head a bit. She figured out that if she was touching his shoulder, holding his hand, anything that it would probably work. Only problem, she was really shy when it came to boys.. She thinks it was a side effect of when everyone started isolating her when her powers came in. She would like so many boys, but hide it for the fact that no one would talk to her because she was different.

Michael winced when he head the thunk behind him of Aurica hitting the wall. Turning to face her he listened to her trying to rationalise what had just happened. When she stopped mid-sentence he guess that she had an idea.
“What is it?” he asked, “Aurica, have you thought of a way you can get this to work? Is it something I need to do? Just tell me what it is.” He was willing to do whatever it took to help Iris.

Nicki hugged Nika, running a hand over the back of her head soothingly. "It's okay Nika. She'll understand that you weren't trying to hurt her, just trying to help. Don't worry hon...it'll be okay" Nicki stuggled, looking down at the three. She wanted to believe it would be okay...but she had a sinking feeling it might not end up that way.
Nicki focused on Iris, trying to send out those subliminal thoughts again. She didn't know if anything could reach her from this distance, but it was worth a shot. Calm Iris. You're with friends who want you to be nice and safe. Just stay calm...

Shawn listened to everything that was going on in the room. When Aurica gave him a nod he nodded back and stepped through the wall. He poked his head back in for one last look just to make sure everything was alright. His head disappeared through the wall again and he remained inside the wall for a little while.
Then he decided to go to the control room. The floor where the control room directly above him became a shimmery-liquid substance and he poked his head through it to listen to everything that was going on. He decided that it would be better if he didn't get stepped on, so he emerged with the rest of his body right where his head had been. It's getting a little crowded in here. Shawn thought and looked around at the room. He had never been up here but once and he saw the wall closest to the window. He floated over and pushed his body through the wall so that he reminded himself of one of those animal heads that his dad had killed and mounted in his house.
He smiled at the thought; however, he quickly wiped his smile away when he saw what was happening down there. Shawn watched in awe as the aura started forming between the three of them down there. He was very concerned when Aurica suddenly flew backwards and hit the wall. When she got back up and was acting normaly again he relaxed and watched what was going to happen next.

Raina took a breath. "I think we can help from up here... if you all arn't feeling too bashful." she grabbed a stool and sat down, "if you can stand the cold, I can teach you briefly the chantment I use for calming the ice. Last time it really aided in calming Iris, perhaps if we all sing it- it might reach her?" she looked hopefully.
ooc: so, totally playing ffx. remember the song they sang to calm sin?
"W...w....w-well... y-yeah, I did f-figure out a way to make it w-work...I think..."
The more Aurica tried to explain the idea she got, the more nervous and shy she was getting. But she knew she needed to knuckle down and pull herself together. She may not have been the last chance they had, but it was probably the safest one. She took in a deep breath, let it out, then looked right at Michael. Her stuttering had stopped, but she was still really nervous that her face was pretty much red.
Why did it have to come down to this...I mean I don't even know why I get shy when it comes to contact with boys. Talking and hanging out with them I'm fine, but physical contact...
"Um... if I were to touch your shoulder...hold your hand...or probably to get the full force of your emotion, hug you, Iris's fear would most likely not over power you..."
Aurica was really hesitating on this idea, but she knew she had to help Iris in some way. She was going to have to get over her fear one day, she knew that. She was just hoping it wasn't going to be so soon.
