CharacterPersonality: Sveta used to be a fun-loving, wild child kinda girl, getting piercings at an early age, drinking, smoking, and doing whatever her mother told her not to. She was a loudmouth, a shrew, a party face, a punk. The things changed, and… well, Sveta became a survivor. She doesn’t trust people, protects her sister with fangs and claws, and gives up any ideals in order to keep sis sheltered from the cruelty of life. She is determined, sneaky and grown up all too soon. She had a kind and caring side, it just needs people she can learn to trust again before it surfaces.
In her new role as a mail-order bride, Sveta is shy bordering on awkward, and totally lost in the new country and culture. She is willing to get married to a stranger and make the most of it, financially before anything else, and she is also willing to compromise to make the relationship work. She is polite, quiet, respectful and – without admitting it – excited and curious. She has to play ‘cheerful and kind’ and it seeps into her slowly but steadily…

MutationsAt the time of her arrival to the USA, Sveta does not know about her powers, even though they are already active.
Mutation description: Sveta enhances other mutants’ powers. She does it in 4 different stages, depending on how close the contact is:
1. Within range, no physical contact: her powers affect every mutant within a 15 feet radius. This is the only stage when humans are also affected.
Strength: her powers come as a rush of energy or inspiration; it basically feels like a shot of coffee or energy drink, or maybe some cold water in the face. People feel more alive around her, and makes it easier for them to concentrate.
Weaknesses: this is not a psychic power, it does not change or modify emotions or moods. Doesn’t actually enhance any mutant powers, just gives the attitude an extra kick. It also has a constant effect on Sveta herself, a kind of hyperactivity – it is very hard for her to relax enough to fall asleep.
2. Physical contact through barrier (no skin to skin): at physical contact her power enhances other mutations.
Strengths:
Her touch doubles the power/range/intensity of a mutant power. (Double Mutated Strength points)
It affects all of a person’s mutations at the same time.
Doesn’t have a time limit.
Weaknesses:
Only lasts as long as the contact lasts.
Only affects mutants (obviously), and only mutants with their powers active. Does not awaken dormant mutations.
Only affects mutations. Does not enhance physical strength, non-mutation related attributes etc.
Does not activate a power (eg. Fire elemental does not burst into flames). The person affected only discovers the enhanced power if his powers are active during the contact.
Does not create new power or generate power growth. Mutation-wise the person will only be able to use his mutation in ways he did before.
Does not enhance Mutated Control (might cause problems if the person can’t deal with the enhanced powers)
3. Physical contact (skin to skin): skin to skin contact temporarily enhances mutant powers.
Strengths:
Her touch triples the power/range/intensity of a mutant power. (Triple M.S. points)
The effect of the skin-to-skin touch lasts. One second translates into one minute of enhanced powers, and the one minute starts when the contact is broken. It has a time limit though; currently the maximum time the powers last is 15 minutes.
Activates power (Fire elemental does burst into flames). Does not send it to haywire though, it can be controlled by the person affected.
Weaknesses:
The person touched feels the effect of this power. He can feel the rush of energy (but can’t tell where it came from).
Only affects mutants (obviously), and only mutants with their powers active. Does not awaken dormant mutations.
Only affects mutations. Does not enhance physical strength, non-mutation related attributes etc.
Does not create new power or generate power growth. Mutation-wise the person will only be able to use his mutation in ways he did before.
Does not activate a power that had been cured, locked, or blocked in any other way.
By activating a power Sveta is likely to get caught in it (Fire elemental burns her etc). She is not immune to the powers she enhances.
4. Kiss ([her] lips to skin): her kiss sends powers on haywire.
Strengths:
Gives an extraordinary boost of power to the person kissed.
Powers manifest as soon as contact is broken.
Has the potential of awakening dormant mutations, or unlocking one that had been locked away (OOC: if power growth had already been approved and all
)
It has a time limit. Seconds translate into minutes, maximum time of haywire 10 minutes.
Once the time limit is up, powers return to normal / stop working. (Fire elemental extinguished)
Weaknesses:
Affected powers go on haywire, only to be controlled if their user has very high M.C. points. Sveta is likely to get caught in the chaos. Someone might get hurt by his own powers in the process.
The person touched feels the effect of this power. He can feel the rush of energy and tell where it came from.
Only affects mutants (obviously).
Only affects mutations. Does not enhance physical strength, non-mutation related attributes etc.
The highest form of contact is the one that affects a person. Eg. If there is skin-to-skin contact and kissing, the kissing is the one that counts.
A person can’t be affected again while the effect of the last contact lasts. Eg. Someone is touched skin-to-skin, his powers won’t get boosted again until the effect of the touch wears off. Several contacts don’t add up.
Fighting Style Explanation: Fists, nails, teeth, knees and boots.
Pros for fighting style: unpredictable and wild-witch scary.
Cons for fighting style: she is as strong as an 18 year old girl can be.

History Of Your Character:Sveta and her little sister Bo (Borbala Sergeyeva) were still very young when their father died. They were left alone with their mother, who loved them very much, but never really learned to stand on her own two feet. Stepfathers came and left in alarming numbers, and with them came and went a lot of alcohol and most of them family’s money. This was the environment the girls grew up in, in a small flat on the outskirts of Penza. Sveta started going out to parties at an early age, and once she did, she never really cared what her mother told her anymore. The only person really important to her was Bo, who is six years younger than her. The sisters love each other with all the love they didn’t spend on father figures. Number 1-17 were not so bad, except for 8, who had a very annoying poodle, and 15, who preferred dressing from Mother’s closet instead of his own. But things changed when 18 set his dirty feet into the apartment. He was violent, and bossy, and scary. And worse. However, he only got to put his hands once on Bo, when Mother was not around, and Sveta snapped; in the ensuing fight she pushed the guy over the balcony, and didn’t wait to see if he was dead. Grabbing a few essential things she took Bo by he hand and ran away.
She was 16, Bo was 10. They took a train to Moscow, and from that on, cared for themselves, or mainly, Sveta cared for her little sister every way she could. They spent more than a year on their own. And then She came into the picture.
They never found out her real name. She called herself the Matchmaker. She was tall, elegant, rich, and spoke Russian with a weird accent. Sveta didn’t trust her by instinct and tried to hide from her; but she kept showing up and finding them, proving in a lot of ways she only wanted to help, and after a long time she gained their trust. The fact that it was the coldest of winter did help her cause. The Matchmaker took the girls in, fed them, bought them clean clothes and everything they needed, treated them as her own children… and she also offered a way out.
Sveta would become a mail-order bride. She would travel to the USA, get married to a very wealthy man, and when she is settled the Lady will send Bo after her. Of course, becoming a bride and finding the right person was easier planned than done – but under the supervision of the Matchmaker everything seemed to work like a charm. Sveta worked harder in the last few months than ever before in her life; she learned how to pretend to be a lady, how to act like a grown-up, how to run a household, how to dress, and do make-up (“and I mean make-up that doesn’t make you look like a dead person, dear”). She also learned basic English (enough to survive the first few weeks at least). Finally, when she turned 18, Matchmaker put the paperwork in motion, and a few weeks later she came back with more papers and a letter. “Darling, I found you a husband. Congratulations, you are engaged.”
It was a trial of trust. The Lady refused to tell Sveta anything other than her fiancé’s name. She promised her he was good, and rich, and possessed a perfect background both officially and… non-officially. Sveta could hardly believe she trusted the Matchmaker this much. Not only she accepted a husband solely because She chose him for her… but also she trusted her to take care of Bo till she can send for her from her new home. Unbelievable.
She got a new name. Efimia Nikolayeva. It was better this way. New country, new life, new name.
RoleplayWhere did you learn about this site?: from my roomie (Jewel/Susan)
Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Mirror.
Sample RP:Ladies and Gentlemen, we welcome you to the United States of America.Sve… no, Efimia stood in the Customs line together with dozens of strange people, all of them speaking different languages, all of them waving a bunch of colorful papers around. Above their heads there were huge screens, flashing beautiful (and very artificial) images of various famous sights on the USA, and also useful information on how to get past the Customs check.
She had been standing in line for the better part of an hour now, and she only had one turn left before she reached the booths. Holding her documents firmly under one arm, Effie pulled a small mirror and a ‘Rose Petal’ colored lipstick from her purse. She took her time redoing her makeup, and then smoothing down her velvet skirt and black coat.
If I’m going to sell myself for my sister, might as well do it in style.
Not like she had anything better to do anyway.
Finally, it was her turn to walk up to the police officer. It was a young man with a smile that was intended to be friendly several hours before, but started to melt with exhaustion as his shift was slowly coming to an end.
“K-1” he examined her visa “Fingers on the pad, Miss Mo…rozo…va.”
Sveta’s lips twitched. Of course, she’ll get used to not being among Russian speaking people anymore. She could imagine the way the officer broke her name – her only real name left – into pieces was nothing compared to what she would do with… pretty much any English word that passed through her lips. Well. Better learn fast.
“Your fiancé here to pick you up?” the officer was trying to be friendly as he handed the documents back to her. Sveta could see in his eyes he had an opinion about mail-order brides. Especially Russian ones. She was a walking stereotype. Hooray.
“Yes.” She answered with a polite nod. She trusted her English exactly that much.
At least I really, really hope so.
