The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

I tend to build my characters around a concept, so when the concept (in this case, the mutant ability) is denied or needs too much changing, I lose all inspiration for the character and no longer want to use him/her. So, when a power is denied, I scrap the whole character, which is quite frustrating as that amounts to hours/days of work being scrapped.
My question is, for the Mods, can I show the power by itself and get that okayed first, then work on a profile? If so, how do I do this? Do I email it to the same account I would for a character application and just tack on a note that I am asking for the power to be approved before the character? Or, do I send it as a PM to one of the Mods, or make a thread somewhere about it, or something like that?

We prefer that you send the entire character profile to the moderator email account. Every facet of a character needs to be considered. We usually don’t like to look at incomplete applications, since history and personality are as important, if not more important, than powers.
The reasons powers usually get declined are for being too strong, unrelated, against site rules, or already taken. Therefore, these links can help you:
As Blue Badger said, we do like to see completed profiles.
You can feel free to bounce power ideas around in the Cbox with other players; most members have a fairly decent grasp of the overall site power level, and can help you flesh out ideas, both power- and character-wise.

Miss East I know it can be frustrating. Sometimes you can have a power that someone else has so long as you make it very unique. For instance when I first joined the site I wanted my character to have manipulation over ice. There was all ready a character who could manipulate ice but she used a special stone to do it. So I decided my character could only manipulate ice through singing. It presented it's own unique way to use it, weaknesses, and strengths. Another character joined and wanted to manipulate ice so we worked out a way for him to do it different enough as well.
I agree with the mods, the best way to handle it before you submit a profile is to read those important threads and chat with members in the cbox. I know it can be frustrating when you have something in mind and you've put in so much time to think of a profile but you'd be very surprised at how creative you can be when restrictions push you to. Raina isn't anything like I originally visioned her, she's better Don't get discouraged!
I've noticed there's a section on side in everyone's profile, with the choices Good, Neutral and Evil. So, what I'm asking is, are these things based on self-image, or does the MRO setting have an objective Good and Evil, like Dungeons & Dragons?

It's based on self-perception. And then you get the chance to explain...
For the Attribute Profile Good/Evil score, we have a cute quiz. The results of that don't need to reflect in your character's own thinking about themselves, however.

These are more technical questions and i have two of them.
I've seen Circe's wonderful signature and am wondering how in the world does it move like that? It switches from one to another different signature. How can i do this lovely trick?
I was also wondering about the different text colors. Where can i change it and how? *Edit- Found the text color button. ;D
Hey Anty. I have my signatures uploaded into an image randomizer. That's what does the trick.
Here is the link for the image randomizer: www.random-image.net if you want to create your own account. The other option would be to send me the images and I can make a new randomizer for you on my own account.
Anyway, feel free to contact me if you need help with anything. ^_^

What exactly is the official policy for threads that go BACK in TIME, ex. like a character's childhood? Are people able to actually go back into their character's past lives or do all threads have to do with the present?

I'm pretty sure that those kinds of threads are perfectly okay, since I've seen the mods themselves do that sort of thing multiple times. Here are a few examples:
The thread "A Long, Long Time Ago" is about something that happened to Lori Faust (aka Sennyo) and Cold Steel in the year 2000, yet the players involved wrote it in 2009.
In "Jack Be Nimble," Katrina (aka Calliope) and Slate (aka Historian) accidentally get sent back in time, in a literal sense.
"Bridge Over Troubled Waters" contains a multiple-post-long flashback about the relationship between Lori and Rupert, who are both played by mods.
(also these threads are awesome and you may wish to read them)
Furthermore, I'm almost certain that Hunter Antonescu and Sebastian Csendes have each done solo threads that discuss their respective immortals' lives hundreds of years in the past. Hunter used to be a mod (Statistician) and Sebastian is also written by Katrina/Calliope.
As long as threads don't horribly disrupt the timeline of one thing or another while they go into the past, they should be perfectly fine. And even if they do make mistakes like that, it isn't the end of the world; hasty editing and/or handwaving would probably resolve those kinds of problems.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!

If you sent it to the Mod Mail, all that's left to do is wait for a reply. It usually takes a day or two for the mods to look over apps. When they get back to you, they'll either give the app the clear or they'll ask you to make some changes.
