The school that Charles Xavier dreamed of as a safe haven has overflowed; now, all students are referred on to Xavier’s Sister School for Gifted Youngsters, a mansion complete with its own team of X-Men who strive to maintain the balance in New York.
Others have sneered at the Mansion’s naive ideals, and gone through the Sanctuary’s Golden Doors to claim their proper title of Homo Superior.
Still others look beyond these petty squabbles to the world’s rotting roots; war, suffering, chaos. At Mondragon Labs Medical, there is a healer who will cure them all.
The Mutant Factions grow in strength and number day by day; their threat and promise hangs heavy over the human world. Homo sapiens have always been the favored child of Adaptation, however. In the minds of a few rare men and women, a force is rising up to silence these challengers to the throne.
Fear and hatred are the lot of all things new. In this volatile world, what will you swear to protect?
Where Will You Stand?
The X-Men
The X-men are an idealistic group of mutants whose goal is to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants and to protect the weak, even if it means facing off against fellow mutants to protect humans that may hate them anyway. They offer a safe shelter and an education to young mutants at Xavier's Sister School.
The Order
The Order is a group of radical mutants who have gathered in an effort to have their voices heard and demands met to gain an uppance in society, by any means necessary. They are led by a mutant and a fiercely vicious woman named Lori who houses the members at the Sanctuary. Join them and find your proper place in the world.
The Kabal
The world is full of distasteful chaos. It seethes with pointless hatred and cruelty. Let the X's and O's bicker like lovers in the streets of New York City; Slate's Kabal will bring the world itself to the worst degree of peace. Current takeover: Romania.

Rules for joining:
1. You must be at least 15 years of age to join.
2. Follow the procedure for joining as listed here. You will have to register an account with the site, create an application/ character profile, and communicate via email with a moderator and make any necessary changes to your profile. All character applications should be sent to MutantRevolver@gmail.com.
4. Attribute profile rules are listed here. If you choose to make one, email it to MutantRevolver@gmail.com after your character has been approved.
Character creation and Accounts:
5. This site uses only original characters. You should not be one of the canon Marvel characters and you should not make references to them. In order to avoid discrepancies they don't officially exist in the MRO universe.
6. Mutant characters who join the site must have a unique mutation with strengths and weaknesses that are equally balanced. If a character has multiple powers, they must be related to each other. A moderator will work with you when you apply to ensure that your power is unique (or if it overlaps with someone, that they don't mind) and balanced. To expedite this process, check the Taken Mutations list before sending your application to see if anyone already has your desired ability and make sure your character weaknesses are strong enough to match their strengths. Things that are rare among the general population should be rare on MRO: mental disorders, photographic memory, etc are subject to veto both by the players who already have them and by the Mods.
7. All changes in the "Mutations" and “Weaknesses” sections of character profiles must be approved first. You may not use any ability that you haven't been approved to use. Send any power growths/profile changes to MutantRevolver@gmail.com for approval before changing your profile.
8. You can be a human or an adapted human character, if you want. Not everyone on a mutant site has to be a mutant, after all.
9. No aliens, magic, reality manipulation, or gadget/ weapon inventing technomancers. Aliens and magic don't fit in well with the MRO universe, reality manipulators are inherently too overpowered to be fair, and our policy towards technology is that our characters have the same technology available to them that we have in the real world.
10. Rules to creating multiple characters: All characters must be approved. Send additional character profiles to MutantRevolver@gmail.com.
Second character: Wait until your first character has 300 posts and you've been active on MRO for at least three consecutive months before sending in an application for a second character. Third character: First character to 600 posts, second character to 300, with a combined total of at least 1300 posts. Active on MRO for at least nine consecutive months. Fourth Character: First character to 900 posts, second character to 600, third character to 300, with a combined total of 2300. Active on MRO for at least a year and a half consecutively. Fifth Character: No one has ever made a fifth character.
General Role Playing Rules:
11. No god modding. This means you cannot control another character's actions. You cannot have your character use knowledge that they as a character had no way of knowing, even if you as a writer know something. During a battle you must let your opponent decide if your attack hits them or misses. You must allow other players a chance to respond to your actions; don't write so many actions happening in one post that other characters seem like they are standing still while everything happens. 12. This site uses standard writing conventions including the following: 3rd person, past tense, and normal grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules. This helps keep things readable for everyone. See the Newb Guide to Writing Roleplay for more information.
13. MRO is a PG-13 site. That means keep the violence non-excessive, the language relatively clean, and the crude sexual references off screen. And when it comes time for that heartfelt romantic scene, fade to tasteful black: we all know where everything goes, we don't need a description of it.
14. Your character may be in up to 4 active threads at a time. You are in charge of keeping your own time line straight.
15. Be polite and respectful in posts, PMs, and the cbox at all times. Out of character that is, the characters themselves probably won’t always be polite and respectful, but you, their players should be. For more details, see the Newb Guide to Etiquette.
17. When you join your first thread either start a thread on any of the boards and advertise it on the RP Requests and Open Threads board or check for open threads to join. Some good places to post your first thread are at the Mansion grounds (if you'd like to be a student at the school or join the X-men), the street in front of Sanctuary (if your character needs a free place to stay, note that this is the secret home of the Order), or somewhere in New York City.
Factions and groups: Note that this has three factions, or groups of mutants, each with their own goals and ideals. They are the X-men, the Order, and the Kabal.
18. You do not have to join a faction or group. You can remain independent of any group and still have plenty of opportunities to RP with others from any of the groups.
19. Characters do not start as an established member of any group. To join one, you must work your way up to membership following the proper procedures that each faction has established.
20. You may not start your own faction. Three seems to be the perfect number for this site, so we aren't looking to have any other groups spring up.
