The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hunter reached the infirmary and set Kitra down on a bed. Some of the regular staff came over and began to tend to her wounds. They were used to dealing with training injuries and this was almost routine for them. Hunter placed a hand on Calley’s shoulder and pulled him back, giving them space to work.
“She’ll be fine,” he assured him, “They’re just some minor injuries, and my staff are the best. She’ll be up an about soon enough. You can sit with her if you like, but don’t get in their way. I have some business to take care of.” With that Hunter turned and left, there was a certain bill that he had to try and prevent getting passed.
Kitra felt herself be put on a nice, soft bed. "Thank you Sir." She whispered as Hunter had set her down. Staff came up and were dealing with her wounds when Hunter left the room.
"Calley, it's ok about the cat call. You were following orders."
Kitra winced. The staff were gentle but it still really hurt....What she could feel anyway. She tried to smile at Calley as the staff had moved out of the way, but she was only able to manage a grimace.
"If you want to leave Calley, its okay. I don't mind." Kitra sighed and closed her eyes, not to sleep, but to give some relief to her poor mind. It was whirling in all directions. And she didn't know where to turn for answers.
Calley noted that Doc Jimmy and his Bedside Manners of Pleasantry wasn't present. Well, good for Kitra. And why did he always seem worthy of the man's attentions...? ...Probably because this staff wasn't trained in re-attaching vital body parts. ...He was going to stop thinking about that, now.
Calley nodded to the Boss Man, watching as he left. Hunter was being awfully nice today. He'd only glared twice, and there'd been absolutley no picked-up-by-throat-action. Not for Calley, at least. He sat himself down crossed-legged on the bed next to Kitra's. He didn't touch the pillow. Pillows had actually started making him feel a little queasy, after a certain discussion with the Violent Boss Man.
He smiled happily when Kitra started talking. Talking was a good sign. "Yeah, orders." He agreed. "There's also the fact that you're kind of hot, but we can definitely write that off to 'orders'." He merrily announced. This wasn't flirting--this was just a fact. Calley already had a girlfriend. A girlfriend who stabbed people sometimes. He'd already resolved to never, ever cheat on Isabel. "And I think I'll stick around for a bit. If I'm not bugging you. I tend to bug people." Which always sort of confused him, actually. Maybe some people were just easily annoyed.
Kitra laughed, "No Calley you aren't bugging me. I would prefer having company. And I really don't think I'm hot, but apparently others do. How did you meet our Boss? Also, why are you being so nice? Most humans aren't, once they realize that I'm a mutant."
Calley did sort of a snort-laugh-choke over that 'how'd you meet our Boss' question. He decided to stick with the truth. He was trying to make that a habit--it made it less likely that he'd lose an eye during some future conversation with the Boss Man. "I'd dislocated my shoulder doing something stupid. The Boss Man kind of found me, and brought me to the labs to get fixed up." No one said he was practicing giving out the whole truth. "And he feeds me!" Calley added. This was a major selling point of their relationship. "And you are hot. Modesty actually raises your temperature," Calley added after that last addition, with a grin.
"Also, why are you being so nice? Most humans aren't, once they realize that I'm a mutant."
"Huh?" He tilted his head to the side, and blinked twice. This wasn't because of the mutant angle of her question; it was more because of the 'nice'. Calley was used to being called a lot of things. 'Nice' wasn't on that list. "Oh. Meh." He shrugged. "Mutants kind of freak me out. But just 'cause you've got fun and exiciting new ways of potentially hurting me. Normal people have plenty of ways too, though, so it doesn't really matter to me." He shrugged again. "Have you had troubles with humans in the past?"
Kitra sat up with a slight wince, giggling hopelessly, "Calley, you love food don't you? And I see your point on humans." Kitra let out a low sigh and thought about how to answer Calley's question without too much detail.
"Basically, I have been made fun all of my life, well until recently. I was always a loner, therefore making me an easy target to get picked on..." Kitra stopped not wanting to talk about her parents just yet.
She looked at Calley, "So how did things go the other night after my abrupt exit?" Kitra grinned, "I couldn't ignore the Boss now could I?"

Calley
Calley nodded sagely. "No, ignoring the Boss Man is not wise." He happened to know. "After you left, we just sort of hung out for awhile. Geo took us to his place. It's a garage--kind of cool. Ooo! And I got to pet Nika's ears. They're soft." He smiled happily. "If it makes you feel better, people always used to pick on my shoes. 'Cause I like to wear them until they're falling apart--that's when they're the most comfortable, you know." He looked down at his feet--currently, he was wearing a rather over-large pair of the Boss Man's tennis shoes. And the guy's pants. And shirt. ...He really needed to get his own clothes. "What'd they pick on you for? Did you have your powers from when you were little?"
Kitra chuckled, "I was picked on 'cause I happened to be the daughter of two very rich and powerful political people. But I always wore beat up clothing and kept to myself. Plus, I was always drawing and doing archery. Both of which I excelled at and that made others jealous of me." Kitra sighed, "I didn't try to be different, but that really didn't work." She looked at Calley with a smile, "All this talk about me huh? What about you?" She poked Calley lightly with a sisterly like grin, "Or do I not get to know?"

Calley
"Gah." Calley sort of shrunk away. He tried to make it funny by laughing, but it didn't take an empath to notice he was uncomfortable. Really uncomfortable. "Umm, there's not much to say, really. My mom's sort of dead. My dad sort of disowned me because I did something stupid," namely, he'd told his dad he was a mutant, "and I thought that my sister was cool, 'cept she never tried to find me after I left home. So I guess she sort of doesn't care." He laughed humorlessly. "I think they think I'm dead, probably. It's been a few years since I've seen them." He wasn't quite sure where all that came from--it just sort of bubbled out. "So, umm, back to you. Ever had any pets? I had a hamster."
Kitra reached over to Calley and pulled him into a hug. "I'm sorry, seems to be a touchy subject for most. And no, I don't think I ever had a pet." Kitra smiled, "I always did like taking care of kitties for others when I could. I rescued cats a lot from bullies, as well as other animals."
She cocked her head at Calley then winced and and brought her head back up. "I guess that was a bad idea. Anyway, whats your favorite animal?"

Calley
Calley sort of stiffened at her hug. And then... he sort of didn't. Hugs felt nice. He stared at his shoes again. "Thanks, Kitra." The change of subject made him brighten alarmingly quickly. "The American Housecat is the best animal on the face of the planet!" He declared with authority. "My step-mom was allergic to cats, so my sister used to borrow them from her friends and take in strays. We let them sleep on the Lump's laundry." Now that was a part of his past that wasn't a subject he'd rather dodge. The Lump on his dad's arm was, and always would be, fair game. "Why didn't you ever have a cat, if you liked them? Cats are awesome."
"My parents wouldn't allow any animal in their house. But cats are so cool! And Calley, you were an impish child weren't you? Kitra had sat up and was eager to leave, "Hey Calley you wanna get out of here?"

Calley
Calley grinned. Impishly. "You're using the past tense, there." He practically hopped off of the bed. Leave Doc Jimmy's Infirmary of Happiness? He was making it a habit to, really. "Sure. Where to? The canteen? Or we could bug gaurds. They're not allowed to hurt me, I think, so they just sort of do this stoic thing. Do you know how to pick locks? Just wonderin'. Or, we could leave the labs. That's always cool. Ever petted a red hawk?" This is what happened when Calley let his brain speak directly through his mouth without filtering.
Kitra had gotten up slowly and none of the staff had stopped her. "I need to go grab my bags from..." Kitra had spotted her bags with her sketchpads near her bed. "...Nervermind someone already brought them here. I would like to leave actually. Perhaps go shopping or something. I dunno, go see the birds too." Kitra had pulled out her cell phone, "What do you want to do Calley?"
