The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She blocked his attack before attempting a counter attack of her own. But something was wrong, it was a poor attack, and effortlessly deflected. Looking into her eyes Hunter quickly saw the problem.
“Don’t think about how good I am and that I’m probably going to win,” he said with a gentle smile, “Focus instead on how you’re going to defend against my attacks, or launch your own. Stay in the moment, all that matters is the next few moves. Don’t try and look further ahead, focus on the next few moves.”
With his advice given he paused a moment to let it sink in before coming at her again. He slashed again, but at the opposite side this time. Now he would see whether she could look past his skill or if he would have to bring in a less experienced sparing partner for her.
At Hunter's words, Kitra blushed slightly then frowned as she thought she heard a 'snerk' from Calley's end. 'He's right, I need to at least try. I'd be a poor student if I didn't, and if hear another 'snerk', well I wonder if he can dodge a dagger like he did that knife.'
Hunter had paused for a moment then had attacked again, going for her other side. As her katana had been not at ready, she was barely able to block. Adding to her insult, her katana slammed into her own side for she didn't have a proper grip when she had blocked.
Kitra ignored the pain and counterattacked. 'No blood, don't stop.' She slashed for his right lower leg, and a split second later she brought her katana up and slashed for his left arm.
Hunter smiled as she saw her resolve to give it her all. He had heard Calley make some noise of amusement from the corner and was tempted to bring him over here, hand him a sword and let Kitra have a got at him. However, that would probably result in Calley getting injured and Kitra getting little for the experience other than a one up on Calley. Instead his focused on the fight.
Her block was poor and resulted in her taking a hit, but it was just a bump and she kept going. He flicked his blade down to deflect the strike to his leg and then leant back to dodge the next attack, the katana missing him by a hairs breadth. Snapping back upright now the blade had passed he lunged for her stomach. If he connected he would only put enough pressure to cause a tiny pin prick, drawing a little speck of blood. It would serve as a reminder that they were using dangerous weapons, and if you weren’t careful you could get badly injured. In a fight she would need to be mindful of that, and avoid over committing herself, like she had with her last attack.
Calley whistled lowly. Nice, Boss Man, nice. He was glad this guy was his employer. Definitely one of the scarier people in town. He was very happy he wasn't doing the sparing--sharp things and him didn't agree, really.
Hunter had blocked her first strike, dodged her second and had gone for a counterattack. She brought her katana down to block her stomach but was too slow and got lightly knicked.
Kitra had known she wouldn't come away without some knicks and cuts. Kitra moved back then pressed forward with an upwards slash then switched directions in mid slash, aiming instead for Hunter's right side.
Hunter smiled and encouraging smile when he saw that Kitra had not fled or gone defensive when she took the hit, but instead kept attacking. He flicked his sword to block her strike, but she changed direction mid swing, going up and over his guard. While he had more than enough speed to whip his sword around and block, it would do little for Kitra’s confidence if he effortlessly stopped her at every turn. So he would have to put effort into avoiding the attack.
Leaping backwards he again just dodged the blade. Pulling his sword up into an attack position he lunged again, this time aiming for her chest. However, if she moved her sword up to block he would whip his around and swing for her neck. But this time he would stop short, as if she twisted her neck at the right angle he could accidentally sever the artery in her neck and she would be dead in minutes. This was training, not battle, and he had no intention of killing her.
Hunter once again blocked and dodged her strikes. He then struke for her her chest. Kitra moved backwards to aviod it as she heard a slight 'pfft' from Calley's end.
She frowned and in a blink of an eye, a wicked, shiny dagger appeared, Kitra caught it in midair as she held her katana one handed, flinging the dagger at Calley. "Hush or you'll have another one came at you."
Holding the katana two handed once more she had moved forward for another strike but stopped dead....
Calley laughed abruptly at her threat. Cute. "Hey, don't get angry with me just because the Boss Man is better than you." He laughed again. "Alot better than you." He felt the need to emphasize that point: "Alot."
He was still standing, looking all the world to be perfectly relaxed, but he moved himself the slightest bit away from the wall. Was he confident he could dodge a flying dagger? Nope. Was he willing to attempt it for the price of being able to keep up his commentary? Hells yeah.
Hunter’s sword tip was underneath Kitra’s chin, pressing against it, but not hard enough to draw blood. “If this were a real fight you’d be dead,” he said smoothly, before removing the sword, “You were distracted by Calley. Distractions can be lethal if you’re not careful. When you let Calley’s quips get to you you dropped your guard. If in a real battle one of the opposition is standing back and doing nothing but taunting you would you stop fighting to fling a dagger at him?”
Hunter sighed, then gave Kitra a reassuring smile. “It’s alright, your still learning and are allowed to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. We’ll carry on, but with an added twist this time. Calley,” he said looking past Kitra to his spy, “I want you to try and annoy Kitra as much as possible. Kitra, you’ll now have to try and ignore him and focus on me. Next time you slip because Calley distracted you you’ll receive a small cut as a reminder to stay focused.” Again he gave his words time to sink in before attacking the a double handed over head strike, swinging his sword straight down.
"Urk, I won't get distracted again Hunter." She blinked at the next comment. 'Oh great, this will be fun.'
Hunter had brought his sword up and had swung down at her head. Kitra blocked by slashing her katana through the air over her head in hopes of blocking and moving Hunter's strike off course. She spun around and slashed for his stomach. She faltered slightly she was getting a bit tired...
Kitra had managed to deflect his sword just enough to avoid the blow. She used the momentum and span completely around, slashing for his stomach. While the manoeuvre granted power to the blow, it was slow and he had plenty of time to bring his sword in to block. However he didn’t do a straight block, he angled his blade to deflect Kitra’s up and over his head.
When her sword was out of position he would slash for her thigh. He would cut close, slicing through both the skirt and the bicycle shorts, but leaving Kitra with no more than a scratch. As he moved his eyes flicked to Calley for a brief moment, wondering what the boy would make of his part in this exercise.
Hunter had blocked her slash for his stomach at an angle, causing her katana to swung up over head. She stumbled slightly, then realized Hunter had slashed for her upper thigh, she tried to bring her katana to block and missed. Hunter slashed her thigh and and left a cut through her skirt and bike shorts, drawing a thin line of blood.
Kitra grimaced and wavered slightly, 'That hurt. But I can't stop just cause of this.' She gritted her teeth and slashed for Hunter's neck but revesed her swing and slashed downwards, aiming to cut his chest.
