The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Well the level itself was easy enough. The boss however, not so much. A fricking huge dragon with a hit bar that just refused to go down. " What in the blazes?" Kitra exclaimed. She was irked, pissed by a game. She hadn't gotten pissed at a game in a long time. In retrospect, it was funny. What was not funny was the string of vibrant curses that escaped her mouth in a flow that was almost not understandable.
Kitra was dodging the dragon boss's hits as much as possible and was shielding Dante's barbarian as much as possible. About 5 minutes in however, her character was sideswiped by the dragon's tail, and effectively taken out. "Dang it!" The frustration in her voice was very clear and her expression showed her grumpiness.
She was indeed glad she brought him along. The goblins were annoying but the ogre boss was an absolute brute! Kitra popped her shield cool down on Dante's barbarian and hit the ogre with her new ability she had gotten when she leveled up. Her fire-ice lance hit the ogre boss hard, nearly taking half of its hit points away.
And Kitra had to make her mage run to the back of the room as the ogre starting chasing her! " Great, I pulled aggro with me l33t dps. " She grimaced and shot fireballs at the boss as she kept running. Soon the bastard was down and the game put them both back at full health and mana and dropped new weapons and gear for them both. It also gave them a three minute timer before the next underground level started.
Kitra turned, grinning at Dante. " I sure as hell hope you're having fun. We may get our asses kicked in the next level.". She was having a great deal of fun. She had nearly forgotten she was on a date date and not a date with a friend.
Kitra happily returned his sly smirk with one of her own. Taking his offered arm, she allowed herself to be towed along until they got to the dungeon game. Chuckling at Dante choosing the barbarian, she herself chose the mage.
As soon as she selected they were dropped into the dungeon. It appeared the first floor was full of skeletons. Easy enough. She fireballed and ice lanced many as her fingers moved nimbly across the buttons and used the log stick with ease. Dante was crushing them left and right with his barbarian. They made a pretty good team.
Soon enough they came upon the boss skeleton. He looked a bit imposing. "Pretty sure we got this." Kitra grinned and waited a moment while Dante charged in with his barbarian. Once he his the skeleton boss she started lancing ice at the boss and following up with fireballs. Occasionally she would switch it up and cast a shield of sorts on Dante when that cool down popped up.
In a few minutes the boss was down and it gave them a minute timer before they would head down to the floor below. Kitra stretched and grinned at Dante. "Having fun?"
Kitra pouted slightly, "Fair is fair I suppose, let's keep going shall we?" She certainly didn't mind getting her as* kicked. Especially since she was having a lot of fun.
Several rounds later, some wins and many losses and just a few draws, she spoke. " So, any other games you'd like to kick my butt at?". Kitra was grinning, she was starting to get back into the old arcade mode. Just a bit.
Once they'd gotten their sticks put up, and their arms were locked, their time for pleasant viewing was over. But now that they were over by the arcade, it was time to focus. And he wasn't planning on holding anything back. His eyes rested on her figure for one more brief moment before scanning the various games.
He was looking to favor more of the old ones, but the newer ones weren't that bad, either. Reluctantly, he released her arm and walked over to an old fighting game. It was more of a button masher, seeing as how it only had three buttons and a joystick for each player, but it was an old classic. Motioning her over, he put the coins in for each of them and the game fired up.
For a character, he picked the stereotypical muscle-head in these games. Large guy, very little clothes. He didn't put much strategy into these games; he liked to hit fast and hit hard.[/quote]TK 3, an old classic to be sure. Kitra rolled her eyes a bit before choosing an equally clad, or not clad, female warrior with a big butt. The classic Fight! Popped on the screen as the old arcade machine said it as well. Button mashing and arrow mashing commenced. She raised an eyebrow as she was getting her ass handed to her.
"Sooo, apparently I suck at this for now." She laughed and went on to the next round.
When she came back, she tried to explain her position further. She didn’t like the art at the museum. Or, at museums. Had they been talking about a specific one? He couldn’t recall.
Kitta’s reaction when talking about the art and sculptures was odd, to say the least. A normal person may not have noticed the slight tearing of the eyes when she mentioned the sculptures, or the awkward cough and the harried drink. He was a detective, though, so that was his bread and butter. Reading people. He read her as someone with passion, but also something deeper down that had a negative feeling towards the topic, like a bad experience. Something personal, though it might have been as innocuous as not liking a certain sculptures work, or having dated a sculptor and remembered his cheating mug when she mentioned the art. People develop ticks like that. Ashton didn’t question it. At least, not then and there.
She apologized, and Ashton smiled understandably at her. ”No problem.” He said.
Then, Kitra offered to buy him a drink. Honestly, it was less an offer, more an insistence because the bartender moved to oblige before Ashton could politely decline. Money was money, the bartender had decided. Whether the customer drank the drink when his own whiskey wasn’t fully drained was not his concern. The glass clinked against the counter in front of Drake a moment later. All Ashton could do was tell the lady “Thanks.”
”I get it,” Ashton said, after a drink from his old glass. ”Sentimentality. I’ve had a few bad experiences myself. Can’t watch werewolf movies anymore because of some bad memories.” He frowned over that thought. It had been a bit more open than he usually was when sharing personal details, though it may not have appeared that way. Without an explanation, it just seemed like a silly aversion. Like some people have to clowns. He was silent for a good second, then wryly added ”Thank God vampires are the norm these days. Teenage werewolves are on the way out.”
Kita listened quietly while sipping her drink. A werewolf aversion? It didn't surprise her with all the different mutations that the world offered. A wry smile came to her lips at the vampire comment. She refused to think about Zelek or Hunter.
"Didn't realize vamps were getting to be a new thing." She chuckled as light in her eyes went dark for a moment. Taking a gulp of her drink she went on. " Far as I know they were around over a decade ago." Another gulp of her near empty drink. "Pesky annoying jack**sses they were. Like to disappear for no reason too."
Kitra frowned at her now empty drink but motioned for the bartender to bring her a water. She was getting a bit too loose tongued for her tastes. And before she could keep her mouth shut, it opened and spoke against her wishes. " Any good run ins of the mutant kind? Hopefully not all your experiences were bad."
Kitra smiled and put her que stick back, grabbed her jacket and purse and took Dante's offered arm. She certainly didn't mind pool, it always gave her a good view of her opponent. In this case it had been an excellent view. With the arcade however, she would need her full attention on whatever games they chose to play.
There were several games to choose from. Current and old. Shooting, puzzles, button mashers, etc. Kitra looked over to Dante. " So what would you prefer to start with?"
'Well, at least her view was a da** good one', Kitra smiled wryly. Dante had left the balls in a great spot. If she could hit the que ball right, not only would she be able to get her last solids in, she could knock all of his stripes and the eight ball in.
"I think this will be my last turn for this round." She was smirking, oh this would suck if she didn't get them all in though. Kitra leaned down and eyed the que ball. Her eyes flicked back and forth between all the balls before she struck. The que ball smacked into the eight and the eight started a ping pong effect. Her solids dropped in right before the stripes starting rolling down the holes. With movement that was too fast too follow all of the balls went in with the eight ball being the last to drop down.
She straightened and blinked, "Well, I wasnt sure if I would eat my words or not. Didn't think I still had the coordination to manage that.". Kitra grinned bemusedly at Dante. "So, another round of pool or over to the arcade?"
Kitra couldn't help the chuckle that escaped her as she knew he was checking her out. She nearly let out an unladylike snort he cursed the que ball for going in. She stepped around him while chuckling and retrieved said que ball. " I suppose that makes it my turn."
She set the que ball on the pool table diagonal to both the three and six she had yet to drive in. Easing herself into position, she eyed her que ball and then her two solids. Kitra's eyes narrowed briefly and than she took her shot. The que ball hit the three and smacked it right into a hole. The white shot back towards her and hit the side and went straight back for the six. It knocked the six right in as well. But decided to go right in after it. "Fiddlesticks."
She had a nice laugh. Had she thought he was bored by the topic, though? Museums, boring? He opened his mouth to say 'no! They're not boring! They're plenty interesting. I've taken a lot of dates there and they all seem to like it! I'm just not an artist, myself, and--' He clamped his jaw shut before he said any of that.
Instead of the unflattering drivel he'd been about to say, Ashton laughed good-naturedly. "I wouldn't call them boring. I just don't know much about drawing, outside of art class in school (and any art history I took in college)."
She eyed her drink like it had done her wrong. Her very empty drink. The woman smiled at him and politely excused herself. It seemed nature had called. Either that, or he'd insulted her by not knowing crap about art. Maybe he was the boring one? He'd said her drawing was good! Hadn't he? Hell. It had been a long day. He hadn't come to the bar trying to pick anyone up. He might have been a bit rusty at that, if he had been trying... but he'd just been trying to be friendly.
Ashton nodded, and sipped at his whiskey as she abandoned him to himself. He suppressed the urge to grumble and 'hrm.'
Kitra had made it to the bathroom, she was certainly not meaning to be rude but nature called. Thankfully, she didn't take long and had freshened up and cleaned up. Barely five minutes had passed when she slipped back onto her barstool next to Ashton.
"Sorry about that." Kitra shrugged, " Nature calls at inconvenient times." The bartender had set yet another drink in front of her which she gladly took a sip from. "Please don't misunderstand, not all of the museum is boring." Kitra's eyes went slightly downcast as she spoke again, " I actually dislike the art itself there. I mean the sculptures are lovely and the artifacts." She coughed slightly to get rid of her eyes tearing up slightly. Bad memories of her classmates teasing her had arisen in her mind. Kitra shook her head slightly and took another drink.
Once done with her very long sip, er more of a gulp, of her drink, she turned her face to look at Ashton. "I should have worded my earlier statement better, my apologies." She paused and looked at the bartender and motioned for another whiskey for him. "This one's on me for hearing me get a bit sentimental."
Kitra smirked and nearly whistled out loud as Dante moved nice and slow to get into the angle he wanted. He was giving her a show! She certainly was enjoying it. He definitely made a good break and nearly sunk a few balls in after giving her the good show.
She smiled coyly, "Watch how its done." Kitra sauntered around the table whilst eyeballing the best angle. Putting herself and her que stick in the right spot was crucial. She could see how to get in at least three balls. Now to just get in said spot.
One handsome problem was in her way however. Kitra grinned and gently hip checked Dante. "Scoot, I like this angle right here." Smirking she eased down into her desired position, making sure to show off while doing so. Flexing her hands, she then quickly aimed and took her shot. The que ball hit the four and the four smacked into the other side of the table then hit the seven and the seven hit the two and the two and seven went into two separate holes as the four tapped the one and they both sat in front of a third hole. Just teasing her to be smacked in.
"Hmph," Kitra grumped out loud. " I'm certainly out of practice. No matter though.". Kitra shrugged and moved to the other side of the pool table. One could say she flounced over as she was slightly miffed with herself. Of course, she shouldn't be as it had been a few years as she had really played. But dang it, she used to be good!
Kitra eyed the five and looked it at and the two balls sitting in front of the hole. If she hit that than she risked hitting one of the stripes, possibly into a hole! Well, it was a risk she would take. One for her opponent wasn't a bad thing in this case. She grinned as she took her shot and watched with a smirk as the que ball hit the five and the five brushed the ten and then hit the four and the four hit the one and all three rolled into the hole.
Kitra let out a quick sigh of relief and stood, grinning at Dante. "I'll pass so you can get a shot or two in."
Kitra grimaced inwardly, Ashton sounded rather bored. She couldn't blame him, most folks came to bars to have their problems vanish for awhile and to turn their brains off. She definitely couldn't keep the giggle in when he mentioned the museum. "Museums can be interesting but mainly boring."
Kitra blinked and stared at her drink. She'd reached the bottom of it without knowing. Ah well, best time to go to the lady's room. "Pardon me for a few minutes Ashton." She smiled and carefully slipped off the barstool. Guess drinking Sake all those years in Japan kept her tolerance up. Now to walk to said restroom without mishap. Sounded easy enough. Kitra looked around for the sign for their restrooms and headed that way once she spotted them. Thankfully, she was completely steady on her feet with no ill effects from the alcohol.
"Cool, I'm fine with solids." Kitra stretched and rolled her shoulders a bit. Thankfully Dante didn't seem to be put off by her being well toned. She was aware of too many ***holes that passed judgement too quickly. She ate pretty much what she liked, but she exercised regularly. Usually one to three hours a day. Various martial arts, stretches, running, etc.
Kitra also rolled her neck a bit, giving it a good stretch too. Satisfied she was finally loosened up, Kitra looked to Dante admiring again what she saw. He was a fine specimen of the male variety. A bit rugged looking but it suited him just fine.
A smile graced her lips again as she asked with a laugh in her voice, "Shall you break or I?"
Kitra grinned, "Pool it is then." She made her way to an open pool table after snagging her trenchcoat and dropping $40 on the table for their food and a tip for Julie. Kitra always tipped well. Waitressing was hard work and didn't always reward well.
The pool tables were free to play surprisingly. She shrugged and placed her coat on a nearby hook since they were near the back by the wall. Kitra had made sure before leaving her apartments that her daggers were well placed and wouldn't move unless she needed them. No need for her to advertise her abilities if she got into a fight.
Once Kitra had set up the balls, she then tested a few que sticks for their weight and to make sure it wasn't too short or long. Once she was satisfied with her pick, she looked towards Dante. "Do you prefer solids or stripes for yourself?" Kitra preferred solids herself but it had been a few years since she had played. Who knows how badly she was going to suck. Guess time would tell.
Kitra was happily humming to herself as she freshened up in the ladies room. This date was coming along quite nicely and Dante seemed interesting enough. Hopefully he wasn't too young. She certainly didn't want to be robbing the craddle so to speak! A smoke manipulator though, that was very interesting indeed. He had been vague about it but then again why wouldn't he be? They had just met earlier today. Kitra was surprised that he hadn't asked her what she could do. Her moving her card through the air could be construed for just about anything. Ah, well, best to leave that alone unless it comes up.
Since she had finished freshening up and was only staring at the mirror, she smiled and turned and opened the door to exit. Upon exiting she noted with a smile that Dante was there waiting for her. "So, did you decide what you wanted to do yet?" Her tone was borderline sultry and her smile had a slight quirk to it. It was his move now.
