The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lee nodded when Blaine said that for him things were more emotional. That made sense. It was also a bit easier for Lee to think, and articulate those thoughts, when Blaine stopped trailing his fingers along her arm and simply let his hand rest on her shoulder.
”That's the thing, Blaine, that's where everyone's vulnerable. It's just not everyone puts more than lust into relationships. I, on the other hand, seem to throw everything into relationships whether I want to or not.”
Then Lee smiled at Blaine. ”But I'm glad you feel safe with me,” she whispered. And the smile grew as Lee saw Blaine leaning in again. This time, the kiss was much more tender, quite sweet, actually. When he finally pulled back, Lee kept her eyes closed, a small smile on her lips. ”You are getting better at that,” she said after a few moments.
Blaine felt like he was more emotionally vulnerable than most people, but he didn't voice that. Instead, he chose to listen to her words in silence. "Well, that makes sense, but it can also be a good thing. Putting everything into a relationship sounds to me like you aren't playing games, and that I'm okay with."
He smiled softly after the kiss, giving her a nod. "I'm glad to know I'm making progress," he said softly. "Though you have been working with me on that one quite a bit," he added, this time a little more teasingly. He thought he was sort of starting to get the hang of the whole flirting thing, too.
Finally, Lee opened her eyes just in time to see Blaine nod. And, was that teasing? Lee couldn't help but grin at him. ”Well, I like kissing so we've got to get you practiced up, don't we?” Lee teased back.
Still grinning at him, Lee went back to what they had been saying before the kiss. ”And no, no games,” Lee said softly. ”Especially not after everything we've talked about. Nevermind the fact that it wouldn't be fair, I don't think I could.”
"True," he answered; kissing was kind of growing on him, if only because he was taking her advice. He was slowly learning to take in the smells, the sounds, and the sights, instead of worrying about the one sense he was missing. And to be honest, it was helping.
"That makes me feel better, actually. It means you're as serious about this as I am," he said with a smile. He realized that's what made him edgy in the bar earlier that evening; he realized his feelings for her had grown stronger. And...he was okay with this.
"So, do you have any other plans for the evening, or is this it?" he asked after a few moments.
Blaine took her teasing, simply agreeing that he needed to get practice kissing. Well, font then, though if that agreement led to more kissing, that was alright with her.
As serious as he was. Though the words were a little shocking to hear with how short a time they had been together, and how slow almost everything had gone between them this far. But, Lee realized, she did like Blaine more than she thought she would after such a short time, and was perfectly happy spending all this time together that they were.
Maybe she was that serious about him. As serious as he said he was about her.
”Nope, no plans until it's time to get the little man ready for school,” Lee said, grinning at Blaine as she spoke. ”Didn't I say for you to decide?”
He chewed on his own words for a minute; in the short time they'd been together, he'd grown quite fond of Lee, and of having her around. And then she spoke again, and he shook his head with a chuckle as he tried to think.
"You did, but I'm clearly not the brains of this operation," he said with a soft smile. He leaned forward, propping his head on his hands as he thought, but he wasn't exactly coming up with anything.
"Unless you want to watch a movie or some crappy late-night television, I got nothing," he finally stated.
Blaine didn't have an idea of what else they could do other than watch a movie or some tv. Lee was fine with that, though the reason she had said it was his decision in the first place was because of the issue with Matt, and Blaine was obviously over that now.
”How about a movie, then?” Lee asked. Then she got an idea and smiled over at Blaine. ”Maybe a horror?”
"Movie works; I think I may have a few horror movies lying around, though I never personally understood the appeal." He gave another shrug before standing up and going to the shelf under the television. He bent down, looking through his DVD collection, and there were even a handful of VHS tapes in there. He dug through the collection for a few minutes before standing up and laying a grand total of five DVD's and two VHS tapes on the coffee table in front of her.
"It's not a lot; most of what I have is action and sci-fi, but...this is what I have," he said, still on the opposite side of the coffee table while waiting for her to choose.
It would be an understatement to say that Lee was surprised when Blaine returned with some VHS tapes. She hadn't seen one of those in years. It had been even longer since she had watched one.
”Should I have asked how old you were before I started dating you?” Lee teased before moving to the edge of the couch to take a look through the movies. There weren't many to choose from, so that did make it easier.
After a minute, Lee passed a VHS copy of From Dusk Till Dawn over to Blaine. ”Here. Want me to grab you a drink while you pop this in?”
"Hey, just be glad these are in color, or that I didn't pull out the projector," he quipped, looking at her with a smug grin. "Just so we're clear, though, I'm thirty-six," he said with a shrug. "December seventh; make a note~"
Then, she offered to grab him a drink. "Sure. I'll go ahead and get this set up and ready." Grabbing the tape, he walked over to the TV, swapping some cables and changing the station before powering on the old VCR, which was, for its age, very well taken care of. Then, he popped the tape in, hit play, and sat on the couch waiting for Lee to get back.
Those annoying previews at the beginning of the tape did buy them a good bit of time.
Lee smirked when Blaine upped her. ”Take note?” Lee repeated. Well then… She raised an eyebrow and said two little words. ”December 20th.” She may have grinned a little once the words were out.
Standing up, Lee made her way to the kitchen, Lee grabbed a couple cans of coke before heading back. And stopping to lean against the door frame as she watched Blaine set things up, a small smile on her face.. This was definitely a nice change, Lee thought. And without any cursing. She could get used to this.
But seeing Blaine finishing up, Lee straightened and walked the rest of the way to the couch sitting down beside him. Settling herself for the movie, legs tucked up beside her, Lee silently handed Blaine his drink. The previews were in, and Lee was used to having the person she was with be extremely interested in previews, even when he had seen all the movies.
He blinked after she said her birthday; it was in a couple of days, so maybe he'd have time to pick something up for her. It wouldn't be anything too fancy, but it'd be enough to show he cared.
He remembered now that there was a reason he stopped thinking VHS was cool a long time ago, and that reason was previews. Especially previews that were over twenty years old. Oh well, by that time, Lee was next to him so he slid towards her, snuggling up a little. Not much, though; he'd let her adjust the distance if she so chose.
"I'd fast forward, but...I lost the remote to this thing ages ago," he admitted, looking over at her with a sheepish grin. "So I hope you like previews for movies that were forgotten about a decade ago."
Lee couldn't help but smile as she opened her can of pop when she felt Blaine moving closer to her. So after she took a sip, Lee shifted on the couch to lean slightly against Blaine. It was supposed to be a horror, after all, even if Lee didn't tend to find vampire movies scary.
But then Blaine was telling her that he would be far forwarding through the previews, except that he had lost the remote. Shaking her head slightly, Lee laughed at him. ”It's ok, I'm sorry of used to watching them.”
Turning her head, Lee smiled up at Blaine. ”So, what do you think about vampire movies?”
He put an arm around her as she leaned against him; he found that he seemed to get better at this the more he did it. "As long as you can handle it," he replied, not openly admitting that he hated previews. He didn't pop a movie in the player just to watch a half-hour's worth of advertisements for movies that were already in the stores, loaded with their own advertisements. He swore it was a vicious circle.
"I think they're kinda cheesy, but maybe that's just me. On the circuit, I fight--well, fought--guys a lot scarier than these movie vampires." He gave a chuckle. "After you've stared down a guy who's very touch inflicts pain on you, or whose eyes are as empty as death, or can increase his body mass at the ring of a bell, watchin' a movie doesn't have much chance. Not that the first guy had an effect on me. He dropped like a lead balloon." Blaine gave a dry chuckle at that one, but then quieted a little once the opening credits began to roll.
As long as she could handle the previews? Lee rolled her eyes as she leaned her head against Blaine's shoulder. Skipping the previews, even on kids movies, had not been allowed in the Brooks home, so Lee had gotten used to watching them.
However, when Blaine said that he thought vampires were cheesy, Lee lifted her head to look at him. How could he say… Ah, well, compared to those kind of people, Lee supposed that vampires weren't that scary.
The thing was, Lee thought with a slight frown as she laid her head back on Blaine's shoulder, that she had fought people a lot scarier than most movie vampires, too.
”I guess you have a point there,” Lee allowed. ”But just because you've seen something scarier in person, doesn't mean you can't enjoy a movie. Plus, I think this is one of the less cheesy ones, but it has been a long time since I last saw it.”
