The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lee knew that Blaine had had a lot worse. She had patched him up from a lot worse. At least he hadn't punched a week and broken his hand.
Lee couldn't help the slight laugh when Blaine said that not much could catch him off guard. ”You haven't known me that long yet. I'm sure I'll be able to do that a fair bit,” Lee told him with a wink before turning back to his hands to bandage the cuts that were large enough to need it. ”And you better not break anything else tonight. I like my boyfriends in one piece.”
"We'll see," he murmured with a sly wink as she bandaged the few big cuts on his hands. Then he nodded as she spoke again. "Yeah, I think I've met my quota for the evening," he joked dryly as he watched her bandage and work on him. She was really good at this, for someone who wasn't a professional medic. Then again, between himself and what little he knew about her ex, he figured she had to be.
Blaine was considerably more relaxed now, but he wasn't quite sure how he'd handle getting back to work at this point, and seeing...what was his name? Mike? No, Matt. That guy. But even still...he trusted Lee. And he knew that if he truly trusted her, he was going to have to give her the benefit of the doubt here. After all, she could handle herself.
Lee smiled and shook her head when Blaine didn't seem convinced that she would continued to surprise him.
It didn't take long after that for Lee to finish with Blaine's hands, and she just sat there for a few moments holding them. Then she looked up at his face. Blaine did look considerably more relaxed, but he still didn't look all that happy. ”You have no reason to worry,” Lee repeated softly, then leaned in to kiss Blaine again quickly before continuing. She'd dealt with jealousy before. ”I guarantee nothing will happen with Matt, out with anyone else.”
He nodded, then smiled after she kissed him again; he still wasn't fast enough on the draw to return the quick ones yet. But, despite not being able to know what her kisses felt like, it still made him feel better because it was an act of affection. It made him feel good inside, regardless of his power.
"Thanks," he murmured, relaxing even more now. Just hearing those words made him feel better. And besides, they'd made it through their first actual issue; technically it wasn't without harm, but it was smoother than it could have been, and that was something, right?
"I do trust you," he murmured, not bothering to stand up yet.
Seeing Blaine's face for the split second after she kissed him before his smile appeared made Lee's smile widen. He was was trying, he was trying extremely hard, and it meant so much to Lee.
And then Blaine said that he did trust her. ”Thank you,” Lee said, her voice soft but full of meaning and emotion. Though it wasn't nearly as crucially important for there to be trust between them as it had been for her and Tarin, trust was still important to Lee.
But Blaine didn't seem in a rush to head back to work. Lee wasn't in a particular hurry either, as long as he was back here with her, anyway. ”What do you want to do tonight after work?” Lee asked, then wrinkled her nose with a small, playful smile on her lips as she continued. ”I'll even sit and watch one of those fights of yours if that's what you want to do”
"It's true. I do trust you," he said softly, having relaxed exponentially since he'd first come to the back. Then, at her question, he shrugged. "I don't know, maybe hang out like always, listen to music, find a movie...maybe experiment a little."
At the mention of watching a fight, his face dropped uncharacteristically. "Let's not watch the fight tonight. It's a guy I came up fighting with in Vegas. It's his last match." He paused, shaking his head. "Back in the day, we said wed'd fight our final fight together...And then...." his voice trailed off again. "Well, you know how that story ends." He looked away, but then back to Lee. Sure, the chapter had a bad ending, but he did see plenty of brighter days after that.
Lee couldn't stop her eyebrows from raising in surprise when among the list of suggestions Blaine made, he included experimenting a bit after work. She smiled at the idea, but was still surprised.
And then more surprise when Blaine didn't want to watch the fight that night. But that was explained a moment later, and Lee nodded her head. ”Ok, so no fight. I guess I'll manage without it somehow,” Lee teased, shooting Blaine a grin. ”You may have to distract me, though.”
Right about then, the door opened and Matt stepped into the office. ”There you are, Lee. I was starting to think you ran off with someone else on me.”
”Well, I kinda did,” Lee replied, giving Blaine a quick smile before turning to look at Matt again. ”Matt, this is Blaine. I hired him to work security. Blaine, this is the owner, Matt.”
"I think I can manage that," he replied. Okay so his lousy, but he'd never really had a need to before. But again, he was trying. He realized he was going out on limb after limb for her, but...he didn't mind.
And then the office door opened and he tensed slightly as Matt came in. He calmed himself relatively quickly, and gave a respectful nod. "Nice to meet ya," he said politely, offering his hand.
Because of Matt's untimely entrance, all Lee was able to do could do was raised a curious eyebrow at Blaine.
At least Blaine had calmed down by now, and was holding his hand out for Matt to shake, which he did. ”Blaine,” Matt greeted before turning to look at Lee. ”Geez, Lee, I was only gone for 2 weeks.”
Lee shrugged. ”When it's the right person, you gotta act fast, right?” Lee asked. ”I mean, how often do you get a trained MMA fighter with experience as a bouncer looking for a job around here?”
He sat silently through the exchange, however brief, then nodded as Lee spoke. Standing to his feet, he gave a slight shrug. Though he really didn't know what to say at a time like this, he thought a moment. "A friend of mine got me into free-lance security work about...thirteen years ago, but I was looking for something a little more steady than that, and he put a bug in my ear," he explained. "Speaking of which, I should get back out there," he added.
Then, he eased his way out of the office, and back out front, picking his usual spot against the wall and taking his vantage point. His eyes scanned the area, looking for anything out of place. By his body language, it was hard to tell anything had even happened.
It really didn't take long before Blaine was making his way out of the office, and that caused Lee to be surprised for two reasons after his bout of jealousy: first because he had been far more civil to Matt than Lee had expected, and second because he had left without saying anything about her staying in the office with Matt.
Smiling slightly as Blaine made his way out the door, Lee turned to clean up.
”Why is there glass and blood in my office?”
Looking up, Lee shrugged slightly. ”Blaine’s hands were cut on broken bottles. When I pulled the glass out of his palm, it had to go somewhere, and I didn’t think ahead to have a garbage can in reach.” At this, Lee turned her attention back to the mess in front of her and on the floor. ”If you give me a few minutes, I’ll finish this, and then I’ll dig out those papers you need to sign.”
*****
Forty-five minutes later, Lee had made her way back out to the front of the bar. She had quickly gone over what had happened over the previous two weeks. But with what had already happened that night, Lee figured she needed to get out of the office relatively quickly. There was only so much that she was able to hurry things along, but she knew that it would not have been a good idea for her to spend the rest of the night back in the office despite what Blaine had said about trusting her.
And there he was, Lee smiled across the bar at him once she spotted Blaine against the wall. After quickly checking on things behind the bar, Lee made her way over to Blaine, coming to a stop in front of him. At least in this instance, the vast height difference could be a good thing; she could stand in front of him to talk, and he was still able to view the whole bar simply by looking over her head.
He didn't see her for awhile, but he figured she had some things to take care of. Besides, he wasn't getting paid to check out his girlfriend while on the clock. Even if that was what he did from time to time when he could get away with it. Just because he couldn't feel didn't mean his eyes didn't work, after all. He smirked slightly, but there was nothing really interesting going on. Some couple had argued, but the woman left before anything got out of hand, and from Blaine's experience, that meant the guy was going to give the bar a good chunk of money tonight.
And then, Lee was in front of him. "I'm fine now. Things still peaceful out here, for the most part," he said. "I'm sorry about what happened, earlier." He looked down at her, but still looked up every now and then to make sure everything was in order.
Lee smiled when Blaine said that he was fine now. ”I’m glad,” Lee replied. And she was glad that other than the incident between them it seemed to be a pretty quiet night at the bar. ”I’d hate for that to have caused a big problem.”
Lee took a deep breath as she glanced around the bar herself quickly before looking back up at Blaine. ”What do you think about heading out together as quickly as possible tonight?” Lee asked. ”I’ll take care of as much as I can possibly get done before close, and tell Matt I’m leaving as soon as we’re closed.”
"Yeah. I'd hate for that to happen too," he said quietly. "Besides, I've gotten used to having you around." He gave her a smile; it was true, he probably wouldn't know how to act if an extended time went by without her being over once.
He smiled even wider at her proposition. "Now that sounds like an idea I can get behind," he murmured, remembering to look up and scan the bar, just in case. After all, he still had a job to do. He looked at his watch and sighed. "Now I can't wait to get off," he said quietly. "Besides, walking home with you will be less lonely."
Hearing Blaine speak, Lee couldn’t help but smile. ”I’m glad, the nights go by much faster and are much more enjoyable now,” Lee told him.
And he liked her idea for when the bar closed. ”Good. I really didn’t feel like walking by myself tonight.” Then Lee’s smile faded slightly. ”I guess that probably means I should go get to work, doesn’t it?”
Heaving a sigh, Lee started to turn away from Blaine, but paused to speak over her shoulder. ”I’ll see you in awhile,” she said with a wink before disappearing again.

Lee had returned to the office to do the paperwork she had put off earlier. At least until 10 minutes until the doors would be locked. Then she went looking for Matt to tell him what she had managed to get done. And inform him that she was done for the night and that he’d have to take care of everything else that still needed to be done and that couldn’t be put off.
Matt hadn’t seemed very happy about that, apparently he thought they needed to go over literally everything that had happened and been done in the two weeks he was on vacation, but that night Lee didn’t care.
Once she had gotten her point across to Matt, Lee went to grab her coat and bag from the office, then found a seat near the door to wait until Matt and the other staff had made sure all the customers were gone so they could leave.
