The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I guess I'll just have to rely upon my natural charisma and charm then, right?" She winked. Combine that with a little basic online know-how and surely she'd be able to convince someone into helping fund her ideas. People would be surprised just how far the right words and a pretty smile directed to the right ears could get a girl.
"I bet, a job like yours, can get pretty crazy at times. No partner right now, although I've had a couple of fun flings since coming to New York. Relationships can so so complicated though, you know? I don't think I'm ready for anything serious right now. Moms are both back in LA. I miss them a lot." She really should go and visit them soon. She knew they missed her just as much as she missed them.
"If that's what you are relying on, you'll nail it."Rianne smiled. She could see this girl doing what she needed to do to get what she wanted done. She might need to take a few self defense classes just in case, but she'd do it.
Her job be pretty crazy at times? That was the truth. "Twelve hour shifts where you could end up pulling a couple hours OT because you got involved with something right before going out of service. Makes social plans almost impossible." Relationships getting complicated? Rianne knew a bit about that. She'd had a few that went South in wild ways and had responded to calls where they'd gone worse. "I exactly what you mean about relationships. And I wouldn't know what to do if I was in one right now." Her mom's were in L.A. That must be hard. Whenever Rianne missed her parents she just had to make a trip upstate, Ambrosia would have to literally cross the entire United States. "It must make keeping up with your moms difficult.
She finished her margarita. The waitress came by to see if she wanted another. Rianne informed her of the negative. She might get another later, but she knew they served a little heavy on the tequila here and she didn't want to get drunk.

Ambrosia beamed at the compliment. It wasn't that she had an ego, not really, but she knew where her strengths lie and saw no reason to downplay them. In the often cruel and difficult world they lived in, it was important to use all the skills and talents at one's disposal.
"Gosh, you must be some kind of special person to be able to put up with all of that." She wasn't sure she'd be able to do it, at least not for very long. "I mean, I'm always on call if anyone needs help, but its not quite the same since that's mostly all done over the phone or online." Which meant it didn't interfere with social plans too much.
She finished her own margarita and followed the other woman's que to not order another one. It wasn't nearly as fun getting drunk if you were the only one doing it. Besides, she had a very happy buzz going at the moment. "It can be hard being so far from my parents, but we talk on the phone every week which makes it a bit easier." They were her rocks when life got hard.
”I don’t know if I’d go so far as to call myself special. Someone has to be the sheepdog. It’s a job someone has to do, and I am good at it. To whom much is given much is expected and all that.” She just quoted scripture to a self proclaimed pagan. Oh well, it was true to Rianne and she didn’t think Ambrosia would mind. Everybody had to do their own thing.
Rianne noted that Ambrosia also did not order another drink. That was good. Rianne dealt with enough drunk people on the job. Not that she expected Ambrosia to get drunk and be an issue.
”That’s nice. I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t keep up with my parents.” She knew some turd burglars who never spoke to their parents and seemed to wear it like a badge of honor that they only associated with them sparingly.

Although she was proudly Pagan, Ambrosia had been raised not to judge the beliefs of others. If they found their center through being Christian or Muslim or Hindu or even through being Atheist, that was their path to follow. "We all have our roles to play."
"Growing up wasn't always easy, especially when my mutation started to become obvious. My parents made sure I still felt loved and accepted and helped give me the tools to fight back against bigotry. Being gay, they've fought that battle all their lives." Which was sad that, in this day and age, that could still be such a problem for many. "But through the hardship, they've given me the tools to do the things I do." So it wasn't all bad. Not even close, really.
Since she wasn't drinking for the moment, Ambrosia flagged down the woman who had been serving them so far and requested a fruit juice instead. Lots of yummy options even without the extra alcoholicdelight.
"It sounds like you're parents are wonderful people." Often times having to fight seemed to warp people. Make them jaded, cynical, and less accepting of things not associated with their struggles. Though, perhaps since the two fights were so similar it was easier to understand. "And it's really cool that you can learn from their experience to help in your own struggles."

Checking the time, Ambrosia realized how late it had gotten. "Gosh, I really hate to do this but I need to be getting home and to bed. Early day of work tomorrow." As if to reinforce the late hour, she yawned. "We really must do this again sometime. You know, besides the randomly getting attacked and rescued part of it." She giggled, and gathered her purse.
