The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"'The time has come,' the Fisher said, 'to talk of many things. Of plots and plans and silly hats, of cabbages and kings. And while the city is distraught, and logic's lost it's sting..."
'Rena and I have been working on this idea for awhile, and though there are kinks and holes in it we need to work out, we thought it was about time to bring it to light. The basis of the idea is this: MRO+Alice in Wonderland.
For Origin, this will likely end up being a dream; some are aware of this, and some aren't. Or maybe it's an illusion. It's real, and yet it isn't. The exact origin of this dream/illusion is unknown.
As a result of this, however, NYC has become its own version of Alice in Wonderland. The city is now twisted and colorful, and nothing really logically makes sense. Characters' appearances have changed to somewhat represent the setting, and mutations either work differently than they usually would--either to some quirky or useless extent--or not at all.
As far as timeline continuity goes, I'm not entirely sure. I'm thinking it lasts as long as we want, having no real effect on present-day plot, but in RP time it lasts the exact equivalent of one good night's sleep.
This is the foundation that we have laid out. Any feedback is welcome~
Bit of extra: The few characters that do know it's an illusion will need to find a way to convince others and spread this information to the other dreamers, thus taking control and breaking the dream.

I'm definitely interested in this, although I'm not sure about being active enough to keep up with it.
Would this be like a parody of Wonderland, in which there's a Cheshire cat, a Mad hatter, and the like? Or is this our own thing that just happens to be similar to Wonderland?

I was thinking maybe some characters resemble those from Wonderland. I was thinking maybe more than one char can bare the same resemblance, because I highly doubt they'd really be the same, keeping in mind character and player style. Though, there probably will be a limit on how many can take on the same one, because what fun is it with thirty Hatters and no other likenesses running around?
This part is still being ironed out, however, but that's what these threads are for~
Past dreams have been about warnings. It's not that far off to find a warning between the enology of the queen of hearts and riots. Nor is it that far off to have people interpret their own dreams differently.

I do like the idea of having this experience somehow connect to the riots, whether directly or indirectly. How would the dream/illusion end? Simply by waking up? Or would those involved find the source and somehow stop it to end the dream? I kind of like the latter, as it would be a way for everyone to work together, or at least interact. :3
Also, I quite like the idea of Alice being the March Hare or Dormouse.

At first one or a few would know it's a dream, and they'd have to convince others, I think. Though I like the thought of having to stop it instead of merely trying to 'wake' the others.
I see Ty as either like a March-Hare type figure, or one of the playing cards. And Paige, I'll deviate from canon just a little. Putting my own little twist on it and making Paige a talking, 'animated' teacup that reanimates when broken.
EDIT: Okay so I had this image just now of someone entering this 'dream' the same way Alice did--falling down a rabbit hole. Also, those involved will retain these memories after it resolves--like one of those dreams that 'feel' real.
And if you die in Wonderland, you don't die in the real world. You simply wake up from the 'dream.' But be careful, because once you die in Wonderland, you can't go back.

This is just a random thought, but what if the dream was a counter attack from the riots? a mutant could be hired to keep other mutants more quiet... Or just decide to take it upon themselves to do this.
Part of me loves the idea of a rabbit mutant running around new York, dropping people down inter dimensional/dream state, rabbit holes.
I also like the idea of if you die, you come back to the real world. In my mind, it puts a hole new spin on the way that the queen of hearts is perceived. I believe that her most famous line is "Off with her head. OFF WITH EVERY BODIES HEAD." It could be a good thing that was misinterpreted as a bad thing.
Also my other random thought, if you did have a rabbit mutant running around NYC sending people to this place, that would give the characters a reason and way to come back and communicate with the rest of the characters.... If we needed to come up with one....
