The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Skoliro noticed the new one staring at his wings. What is it with these people? For the first time in a while he slightly regretted his wings. But why? Hadn't it been his wings that saved him from that horrible torture? Wasn't because of his wings that he never saw his father for the first year of his life? They were nothing to regret then, and nothing to regret now. That little talk within his mind had convinced his otherwise, even if it was the same thing that had played over and over again when he first saw the light of day. He snapped back into the conversation just as the boy asked if they were new. Well, I'm relatively new. But, I didn't know you had to share a room... Just then a idea hit him. It was a rather strange one for his to have, considering all that he was. But hey, why not ask. If you want, you can share a room with me. I kind of redecorated immensely though. But I'm sure I could get a bed in there somewhere if you don't mind the outdoors.

Iris took a sip of her tea. "I arrived last night. No one mentioned sharing to me either. But then again, I'm not officially a resident here. Though I'm trying to change that." She smiled and shrugged.
Several of the younger students trooped in to raid the refigerator. She took the opportunity to pull a pair of stools up to the counter Skoliro was perched on. She offered one to Keith, and perched atop the other.
"I wonder if the mansion is always this busy," she remarked aloud as the kids left. They'd seemed completely unfazed by the fact that, only a short time ago, a violent intruder had invaded their home. "I wonder what he or she looked like," she wondered out loud, speaking of the intruder.
Thank you, id like that alot, and i have no problem with the outdorrs. And i apologise for staring skoliro, but its not that i have a problem with your wings, quite the opposite in fact, i wish i always had mine out. *Smiling to the two he leaned on the counter top and looked into the distance as a slight crackling could be heard*
*From each shoulder blade a shimmering whisker floated slowly out, and like a plant, a wing grew rapidly down from each strand. As the feathers appeared they turned from a clear glass impression to a fiery red*
You see my powers are linked you could say. By being able to control energy, i can also turn that energy to crystal, my old mentor told me they were psionic crystals, tough as diamonds but worth nothing at all as they disappear if i dont charge them. I can make practically anything out of the crystals i construct.
May i ask, what powers do you have??
*He looked extremely comfortable, finally finding people he may call friends, and waited for their answers almost like a child waiting for xmas morning.*
Skoliro looked to the group of mutants that had entered with envy. They acted as though they had those friends all their life, and one even was chatting away to their mother. His eyes started to water but he quickly blinked away the tears. Those luck sobs. They had had every thing he never even knew exsited untill he was free. Turning back just in time to see the wings sprout from Keith's back he smiled, well, at least for now he had a few he could call friends, even though they were a couple of years older then him. But, then again, that could change if either of them happened to look at him funny while he was 'hungry'. May I ask, what powers do you have?? Skoliro flinched at the question, not knowing if the man would take the information on his feeding habits as well as the girl. Maybe he wouldn't tell him till they got to his, no, their room. Well, I can control all nocternal animals, and well, obiously, fly.
Skoliro looked at him like it was the weirdest question he had ever heard. Had he learned to fly yet? He couldn't remember a time when he wasn't able to fly. I've flown all my life. Suppose I could help you.

"Now I'm jealous." Iris's shyness dimmed a bit as Kieth showed his own set of wings, and her smile widened just a bit more. Then Skoliro mentioned nocturnal animals, and her smile widened even more. "You mean like owls? I've rehabed a bunch of them at my Rescue Ranch back home. We even have one that's a permanent resident now, since she'll never be able to fly again." She paused, her shyness returning.
A slight burning sensation bit at her lower back, then faded. It was her liquid jewel regaining its power again, after her short use in the Danger Room. Reflexively she scratched at the spot. She wished it didn't always feel like an insect bite when her jewels activated and deactivated. Suddenly becoming nervous again, she scratched at her shoulder, where the ice jewel was embedded.
Sorry, i didnt mean to sound pompous, its just i didnt know if you'd recently gotten your wings or if you'd been born with them so i thought id play it safe. *Smiling awkwardly he looked to iris*
Hey, would you mind if we get my stuff and move it to your room??

Iris jumped a bit as her cell phone rang, a bit louder than usual. She must have hit the volume button by accident when she clipped it to her belt. She recognized the Bumble Bee ring, which meant the Ranch was calling.
"Excuse me for a moment," she apologized to the guys, and turned to answer it. She hoped there was no emergency. "Hello?"
"Rayne! Why didn't you tell me?!"
Iris blinked, completely confused. She recognized her assistant's voice, but her words made no sense. "Pardon?"
"You should have told me what you were up to! You don't have to go sneaking around like this. You know I can keep a secret." For one split second, Iris felt her face pale and her heart drop. Sarah could NOT keep a secret, which is why Iris hadn't told her about being a mutant. If she'd found out....
Iris gulped, trying to think of what to say. "Um...well...I just thought I shouldn't...Well, that is, I-"
"You have got to bring me back a shrunked head! Mory will freak if I get him a real on for his collection. Oh! It has to be authentic, though. I'll even wire you the money, today!"
'Shrunken head'?? Iris's expression when from fear to complete confusion. "Sarah, what in the world are you talking about?"
"Duh! Your trip!" Iris could almost hear the woman roll her eyes. "Max just called and told us all about. I still don't see why you didn't tell us. It's not like its unusual or something. Well, actually, I guess you going out of the country is a bit unusual, since you never go anywhere. But then again, it is for the Ranch isn't it? So that's not so strange. But you have got to find time to take pictures and relax. Do you realize that you haven't had a vacation in over three years?!"
Sarah was talking so fast that Iris's head was spinning. But she tried to act like she understood. "Yeah, well, it was sort of a last minute thing." Boy, was that the truth.
"Yeah, Max told us. Oh, and don't worry about the quakers. Alex is already on the road, and should get there tomorrow morning. Oh! And he's expecting something exta special for the favor too. I'm thinking a nice evening alone when you get back? Yeah?" She giggled on the other end. Iris rolled her eyes. <"Fat chance,"> she thought to herself. Alex was the last person she wanted to be alone with.
She listened to Sarah rattle on for another few minutes, holding the phone away from her ear. She shrugged and smiled apologetically to Skoliro and Keith. "She likes to talk," she said to explain. Though she figured they already could tell. She decided to call her Tio later to dicipher exactly what Sarah was talking about. After finally promising to whatever Sarah requested, even though she couldn't understand half of it, she hung up the phone. She let out a sigh, and a chuckle.
"Well, it looks like I'm staying for at least a month. Or so I'm told. Hopefully I won't drive you all crazy in that time." If it was possible, Iris felt both relieved and worried at the same time. She had a feeling the next month was going to be......interesting......
Skoliro chuckled slightly when the phone rang. A few seconds earlier he had heard the pulses in the air, and he knew it would come soon. But hey, what was this about the shrunken head? After listing to the conversation ramble on for about four minutes he understood. So, they thought she was somewhere else, on some sort of business trip. Hey, would you mind if we get my stuff and move it to your room? Should soon if they really are getting that many mutants. Just then Skoliro remembered what the girl on the phone had said. You go by more then one name? He didn't really care, he just liked to bug people, especially when something out of the ordinary was about to happen. And for him, anything that involved talking another that wasn't going to die shortly after was still pretty new.
*stepping back he made room for iris to move first smiling politely* Ladies first *His irish accent poking through*
*Looking behind himself he chuckled* May get rid of these. *closing his eyes momentarily he concentrated as his wings disappeared again and he looked to the other two*

"Well, my name is actually Rayne," she answered Skoliro. "Rayne Belamount. My Tia Carol, one of my guardians, has called me Iris since I was little, because of my powers." She flushed a bit, and rubbed her shoulder self-consciously. "I figure I may as well use that nickname while I'm here, especially since now, Rayne Belamount isn't supposed to be in New York anymore."
She blinked a bit in surprise when Keith motioned for her to leave the room first. She hadn't expected to be invited while they played musical rooms. She'd always been a bit of a loner, out of self-preservation. Being included in a group, albiet a small one, was a change she was beginning to find enjoyable. A small smile found it's way onto her lips.
"Sure." She trashed the scraps of her TV meal, and set her mug in the sink, pausing again to envy both of them their wings. "Thank you, but I'll follow you, since I have no clue where either of your rooms are."
Skoliro hopped down from the counter. I think we shall. His voice was drenched in a British accent, but around these two he, for once, really didn't mind. It was strange. Hmm, now what. Do you think we should go to my room first to see what space we can use? Or should we get your things first?

"Ever since I was little," she said in answer to Keith's question. "Actually, I stumbled into a barn when I was eight, or so, to get out of the rain. That's where my guardians found me. They own a ranch in the Rocky Mountains, so that's where I grew up. We've turned it into a shelter-slash-rescue center over the last ten years or so. Um, actually, I get along better with animals than I do with people." She blushed a bit at that admission, and shrugged. "Animals don't talk back. Usually."
She cleared her throat, then asked Keith, "So where are you from?"
