The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Rayne opened the freezer and pulled out the microwave meal that she'd abandoned when the intruder alert sounded. She popped it into the microwave, then began heating water for tea, since the mug she'd made in the Danger Room had....well....been a bit too messy to drink. Sort of.
She glanced out the window as she waited for things to heat. The snow was comforting to see, reminding her of home. She wondered if she could figure out a way to stay at the mansion for a while, without letting her staff know what she was doing. None of them knew she was a mutant; she did her best to keep it hidden, for their sakes as well as hers. There was a very active anti-mutant movement in the city at the base of the mountain. From what her guardians had told her, there had been a major incident at a genetics lab involving mutants, not long before they'd found her hiding in their stable.
Rayne clicked her tongue in thought. If she wanted to stay, she'd have to think of some way to make her absence look like a normal occurance. Considering she never took vactions from work, it was going to be a real trick to do.
The microwave beeped at the same time as the teapot shrilled, effectively distracting her attention.
((ooc-GAH! Whacks self i head about a million times then whacks head o desk* STUPID! i missed that note on the end of your post! sooooooooo sorry!))
Skoliro peeked his head into the kitchen when he heard the pot screech. The girl he had run into ad had been chatting with was there, as she said she would. Usually he didn't wander that far into the mansion, but for some reason today he had. It might of been because she had said she would be there and his subconscious had followed. With his normal graceful strides he strolled into the room. Skoliro crossed over to the mutant, he name was Iris, right? Well, at least that's what she had said.Maybe he had remembered wrong. He was ow behind her ad he tapped her on the shoulder. Hey.

(OOC: No prob Sko. I added it later, so my bad. )
Rayne gasped and jumped as she felt the tap on her shoulder. She sighed and chuckled when she recognized the mutant she'd met in the Danger Room. Usually she could sense when others came near, but this was the second time he'd taken her by surprise.
"Hello again. Skoliro, right?"
(OOC: Sorry for the short post. Not much time today. bbl
Skoliro smirked when she jumped. She was the second person he had scared today, and it was the second time he had scared her. Maybe he should try and make more noise when he walked. "Hello again. Skoliro, right?" Yeah, that was right, but was he right with her name? At your service. And your is Iris if I remember correctly.

"That's right.
Iris nodded. It was strange hearing others besides her Tia call her that. But it was probably safest to use that name instead anyway while she was here. So Iris it was.
"So how did you manage to find your way here, Skoliro?" She leaned against the countertop as she ate. As she watched him, her curiosity kicked in. She began to wonder just how much like a bat he really was, and which kind of bat.
Skoliro jumped up on the counter and sat cross legged. She probably was wondering about his powers now, that always happened."So how did you manage to find your way here, Skoliro?" How did he manage to find your way here? That mattered. To the mansion or to the kitchen?

"To the mansion or to the kitchen?"
Iris raised one eyebrow. That sounded like an evasion. Well, she guessed that would be natural. No doubt most mutants were used to hiding what they were. She was, after all.
"Actually, I meant the mansion, but I hope I'm not being too nosy. I haven't really learned the rules around here yet. And I haven't met too many people yet, either." She tilted her head slightly. "That's a pretty impressive set of wings." She added the comment to give him a way to avoid her first question, if he wanted to.
"Actually, I meant the mansion, but I hope I'm not being too nosy. I haven't really learned the rules around here yet. And I haven't met too many people yet, either." Skoliro smiled calmly to himself. Rules? What rules? He hadn't listened for any rules. Well, he might as well try and make light of the subject of his arrival, he didn't want her pity."That's a pretty impressive set of wings." I flew, how else would I have gotten here? He said, c_ocking an eyebrow to add to the humor. Oh, and thanks.

Iris hid a smile behind her mug. Either Skoliro was very secretive, or a real joker. Being rather shy herself, she decided not to pry. Instead she asked about his powers.
"I hope you don't mind my asking, but just how much are you like a bat?" He actually reminded her of a vampire, but she wasn't about to say so out loud. Although....she'd already alluded to it in the Danger Room, hadn't she?
Skoliro shifted in his set, looking for the right words. How should he explain this to her. He wondered if he should just be blunt about it. Or not, that always seemed to scare them away. Well, you see, its kind of complected. He paused scratching the back of his head. You see, I'm half human, half bat in general. One forth of that bat is fruit bat, and the other... isn't.

Iris's widened slight for just a brief moment. She could imagine what that other quarter was. She had the urge to scratch her neck, but firmly squellched it. She didn't Know many people yet, and she didn't want to allientate the ones she did konw by a thoughtless gesture. Instead she smiled, and slightly changed the subject.
"That sounds really neat. So does flying. I bet it would be awesome to fly." She started to eat, then paused. Not wanting to be rude, she asked, "Are you hungry? I think I have some oranges in my car." She kept her cooler well-stocked when she was on a road-trip. Of course, this was quickly turning out to be the wildest stopover she'd ever had.
Skoliro shook his head, not really that hungry. After all, the last time he had eaten had been about a hour ago, not long enough. He looked down as he realized he hadn't 'fed' in quite a while. That would be something he needed to take care of, and fast. The boy strolled into the room causally, and seemed somewhat shocked to see them. He nodded to him. 'ello.

"Hello," Iris replied as another entered the kitchen. She remembered his face from the Danger Room, but hadn't actually met him. Her eyes widened slightly, and she blinked, thinking she was seeing things. But he was indeed glowing. She blinked again. Suddenly she flushed slightly as she realized she was staring.
"Um...sorry." She cleared her throat slightly, and attempted a smile. "I'm Iris. Nice to meet you. This is Skoliro." She shrugged slightly. "Sorry, I'm new here. I'm still not used to seeing people use their powers in public." She paused again, wondering what that glow meant?
Im Keith, or Nexus. *He found his gaze attracted by SKoliro's wings and got lost in thought wondering what it would be like to have wings permanently, then realised Iris was staring and smiled to her*
Its ok, ive just eaten, . . . .kinda. I dont "eat" food. Im an energist, i eat energy you could say, like electricity, fire. The armour will disappear in a few minutes.
Are both of you new here? I came in when the place was under attack or something. Just picked myself a room too, but ive heard were supposed to share with someone else, so i think i may have to pick another one. *Looking to both he smiled as the 3 regarded the other closely*
