Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes, super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace while those who style themselves as Homo superior work to tear it apart for rebuilding in their own image.
MRO is an original character, original plot X-Men RPG. We've been open and active since October of 2005. You can play as a mutant, human, or Adapted—one of the very rare humans who nullify mutant powers by their very existence. Goodies, baddies, and neutrals are all welcome.

The Oracle Plot. The Oracle from Delphi is a twelve year old boy who can look into the possibilities of the future. One unicorn is destined to start the apocalypse. With the help of his friends the oracle is doing everything he can to prevent it from happening.
The unicorn, having had his happiest memories wiped from his mind, finds little purpose in life. Until, that is, he decides to issue a challenge to the gods by starting a church of his very own, one that promises eternal life in exchange for loyal service to him. Details here.
Ongoing Plot: The Drug Plot. You've probably heard of it whispered on the streets, or on Wolf News: the street drug M, that temporarily grants humans a mutant ability of their very own. Whether they can control it or not is another matter entirely... Be wary of these drug users; until the NYPD figures out who's behind the flood of M hitting the streets, more and more users are bound to pop up. Details can be found here.
History
MRO has a checkered history of Mutant Registration Acts passed and repealed, dreams of the Future shared by people across the world, and the occasional friendly takeover of a sovereign nation or two. For a brief timeline of plots past, check out our Site History.
Got a plot in mind?
All MRO plots are player-created; the Mods run the big ones, but we get the ideas from you. Do you have a plot in mind, and want to know whether it needs Mod approval? Check out our plot guidelines,

Note: MRO moves with current time: whatever year and month it is in real life, it's that on MRO, too.
The X-Men
The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
The Order
The Order is a radical group of mutants, carving themselves a cozy place in NYC through murder, malice, and Mafioso-style dealings with the local human population. Human law was never made for Homo superiors.
The NYPD
The NYPD has always fought the good fight, whether it was against mobsters or mutants. They do things the right way, the legal way. With their MRC unit and the support of the X’s, they’re bringing the city back under the long arm of the law.
