Date of Birth: February 2007
Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: Beneath the waves, in the shelter of Atlantis, somewhere in the Caribbean
Nationality: Atlantean American
Ethnicity/ Cultural Heritage: Caribbean, Atlantean, Ancient Greek
AppearanceHair color and style: Thick, coarse, and springy black hair in tightly coiled waves. When she styles her hair, individual curls can be seen. When she doesn’t bother, it has more body than defined texture.
Skin Tone: Black: Acorn brown with warm undertones
Eye Color: Warm brown
Height: 4’9”ish 149cm
Build: Stretched, but well-fed. Kalos is growing at an alarming rate now that she’s getting proper nutrition. She’s still shorter than others her age and sports a bit of a belly bloat at times as she has a hard time regulating her sweet-tooth.
Visible Magical Corruption: Blueish-steel gray eyes. Kalos’ most used spell is a peek at the future, a spell that changes her eye color. While in use, or if used excessively, her eyes take time to bleed back to their warm brown.
Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: N/A
Other features: Kalos has a wide nose and high, proud cheek bones that indicate some mix of Carribean/Greek heritage
Everyday clothing style: Kalos loves wearing eye-searingly bright colors and bold patterns. She has no sense of restraint when pairing the two. Where possible, Kalos prefers hoodies with oversized sleeves, comfortable pants like joggers, or dresses. She is starting to explore more fitted designs now that she no longer has to accommodate coral growths from her body.
Uniform: N/A
Sleepwear: Oversized comfort clothes
Miscellaneous clothing: N/A
CharacterPersonality: Kalos is a typical child in some ways— shy around strangers, impressionable, stubborn, and innocent— but exhibits classical symptoms of emotional and physical abuse.
She sometimes will disproportionately react with anger or hostility. She has many well-seated fears and aversions which cause her anxiety. She craves affection and reassurance and will attach herself to a person and stick with that person for as long as they will allow her.
Kalos will often hide food in her pockets, beneath her pillow or mattress, or in a few choice “safe places” around the Mansion. She has a problem with impulse control and taking things without permission and a mild rebellious streak.
What she loves or hates changes day by day as she learns and explores the world above the ocean and depending on her company. She is starting to feel confident enough to strain against the few rules placed upon her in an attempt for independence and self-sufficiency.
Hobbies/ Interests: Everything! But most of all cell phones, digital technologies, and the internet and its lore is interesting. She will watch television for hours if left unchecked. Her favorite shows are claymation videos, stop motion, and foreign language soap operas where the emotions are over exaggerated and easy to understand. She loves to bake, especially chocolate cakes/cupcakes.
Job or part time job and description: N/A too young
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Telepaths, mutants who are human passing, figures of authority, adult men, dogs, large and open spans of sky, shouting, conflict, running out of food, being rejected for doing or saying the wrong thing, never fitting in.
Special talents: Making sad eyes and getting her way.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: Good. She has a skewed sense of fairness and often paints things in complete black or white as per her upbringing, but at her core she doesn’t want to harm anyone.
Feelings toward Mutants: Resentful that she wasn’t good at being a mutant. Mutants that are human-passing were the people who did her the most harm as a child and they represent a power-dynamic she could not escape, even at the Mansion.
Feelings toward Humans: She is distrustful of humans in a near-xenophobic way. Any human might be someone with hidden power just waiting to use it against her.
Feelings toward Adapteds: She used to resent them because they made her unable to function. Now she’s ambivalent or dismissive. They, too, are without power.
MagicArcana Praeditus: Aceision
Arcana Initium: Invocation
Preferred Foci: Witchy clothes or a wooden wand.
Kalos’ most powerful foci is an animal familiar that she feels she cannot do big magic without. It morphs between a white crow, gray rabbit, or black cat and can transform into a hat of the corresponding color when she wants to work big magic. Other than the changing shape/color and staying near to Kalos, the animal has no special qualities.
Magical Theme: Self-preservation.
Snap Spell: Kalos’ snap spell is the ability to see the shadows of decisions made. She can see ephemeral figures play out potential futures based on decisions made or acted upon. She can lock on to a shadow and follow its single path or watch a wide array of short-term futures play out on top of the current timeline.
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: Kalos is pampered and weak for her age. She is not particularly fast as a runner, but she is twitchy and suspicious which makes her reflexes her top priority. She is rather flexible and used to squeezing into spaces you may not expect her to fit.
Fighting Style: Run, hide, cry, beg for her life. She does everything she can to avoid being in danger in the first place.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Sometimes people have a harder time hitting a girl who is crying.
History Of Your CharacterKalos has vague memories of her time before working in the sludge pits of Atlantis. She lived with perfect parents who looked at her with a mix of love and sadness. She doesn’t remember much. Just that they were perfect and she was... different. They hid her for as long as they could, but ultimately it was her curiosity that gave her away. One day, she dared to sit in their family’s window sill and look out at the city beyond.
Her mother told her that both parents both loved her even when King Atlan told them they were unworthy to be a mated pair and that it was Kalos’ fault. Her mother told her she was worth something even when they were torn from each other’s arms; she begged her to survive and was struck down for it.
Kalos went to the muck pits where no one had a name and no one had worth. She slaved, was beaten, escaped, collected, and re-educated. She learned who to fear, who to hate, and resolved to escape again, to sit in a window again.
It wasn’t until she met a mirrorwalker, someone who was not only handsome but also kind, that she finally broke the cycle.
The X-men freed Kalos from Atlantis in the
X-Men: From the Depths Atlantis Shall Rise.
After a few years of therapy and school catch-up at the Mansion, Kalos was adopted into the Grey-Morris family. She finally felt as if she would not be discarded, even if she still never quite felt as if she belonged. Kalos struck a fast friendship with Becca Gray’s sister Aoife Ainsley and bonded over a mutually difficult orphan upbringing. She was doted on until, ultimately, Aoife convinced Kalos that being a mutant was holding her back from protecting herself and truly being free of her past.
Well, I’ll be a Coral’s Auntie marks the moment when Kalos was transformed from mutant to mystic.

Sample RP:He wanted to know her name. Nobody asked that. Why would he ask that? She was a gorgon and he… he was a perfect demigod. He had a name. Gorgons did not.
Except… she had one once.
It was a slippery memory. A happy one. She’d tried to keep it, but it was gone. Did she even have a happy memory anymore? Did she even have a name anymore?
“Kalos.” They teased in the demigods native Greek since most of the gorgon had never learned anything besides the base English they taught to appease trapped foreigners. [/i]”See how she tries to keep the muck off of her skin?”
They jeered, kicking garbage back at her face after she had just scraped it clean. She didn’t know every word, but she knew enough. ”She thinks she’s beautiful. Watch her wipe her face again.”
“Kalos.”[/a] She whispered the word, almost afraid to imitate the shape of a demigod’s lips. But
he… he was a demigod. A demigod would expect a demigod name.
“My name is Kalos.” It was so sad that he was here. She shook her head, unsure of what to do.
“We’re going to die. I escape too much. You shouldn’t have seen. They’ll kill you.”
