Date of Birth: September 23, 1983
Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Nationality: Canadian-American
Ethnicity/ Cultural Heritage: Punjabi, Indian
AppearanceHair color and style: Black hair with a wave to it, kept long enough on top to pull into a short ponytail or manbun though usually he doesn't bother. He just combs it straight back and calls it done. Close buzzed sides. AJ’s main concession to his heritage is the full beard he keeps very perfectly groomed. His beard hair is darker than his head hair and follows the angle of his chin and is cut with geometric precision.
Skin Tone: Warm sand
Eye Color: Medium brown
Height: 5’7”
Build: AJ works out. AJ works hard. AJ don’t play. His upper body is the best defined, but from his trapezius to his biceps femoris, AJ maintains more than a healthy physique. He’s damn near obsessed with bodyweight fitness and flexibility.
Visible mutation: N/A
Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: “ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਲੜਨਾ ਬੰਦ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ” is tattooed across his shoulders. It reads Kadē vī laṛanā bada nā karō which means
Never stop fighting.
Other features: N/A
Everyday clothing style: Tee shirts, flannel button up, jeans, high top tennis shoes.
Uniform: Navy blue EMS pants and shirt. Very full of many pockets, mostly notably the pen attachments at the sleeve and shoulders, cargo pockets on the pants, and black leather shoes with the squishiest of soles.
Sleepwear: Boxer briefs
Miscellaneous clothing: Loose singlet and comfy shorts, neon yellow shoes for working out.
AJ wears a steel bracelet whenever he feasibly can, even when sleeping.
CharacterPersonality: AJ has more than his share of cynicism. Dealing with people at their worst has taught him to trust sparingly and to believe his gut. He enjoys dark humor and believes that anything worth having is worth working for. He is a focused individual driven by his unwavering will. Once he makes up his mind, he can rarely be swayed. He’s not shy and is far too used to speaking authoritatively to others, especially where topics of his expertise are concerned.
As a Sikh, AJ believes in equality of all humans and strongly rejects caste systems, mutant supremacists, and human supremacists alike. After all, in the back of an ambulance, everyone is the same. He is not devout, though he does maintain a beard. He does not abide by
the 5 k’s or meditate as strictly as he knows his parents would want him to, but he believes in one god and uses the notions from his faith as a reminder to stand up for what is right.
Hobbies/ Interests: Bodyweight fitness and the human body, piano music (though he doesn't play), singing, cooking, people watching, binge watching TV.
Job or part time job and description: AJ works the evening/swing shift on an ambulance. His schedule is officially a rotating 5 days on, 5 days off, though he often moonlights elsewhere to supplement his income. He is trained as a paramedic (EMS or EMT) and is trained to drive the meat wagon. He is also a part time student, studying to move out of the thankless job of EMS and into the thankless job of nursing.
AJ is trained in:- Advanced cardiac life support - Cardiac Monitors, Defibrillators, and cardiac medications.
- Bleeding Control
- Spinal injury management, including immobilization and safe transport
- Fracture management, including assessment, splinting, and use of traction splints where appropriate
- Obstetrics
- Advanced airway management techniques including tracheal intubation and surgical airways
- Triage of patients in a mass casualty incident
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: AJ is most worried that his sister will do something irrecoverably stupid. Not scraping together enough money to make ends meet. That there is no afterlife. AJ feels lost in life: he’s both afraid of missing out and afraid of putting himself out there. It’s much easier to just keep doing what he’s already doing.
Special talents: Speaks Punbaji, Quebec French, English. Can do L sits, planche, and
human flag.
MoralityGood/ bad/ neutral/ other: He is good in most aspects (would return a wallet, will bend over backwards to save a life even if that means running toward danger, is hospitable, and incredibly charitable), but neutral in others areas of his life (believes stupidity is rewarded through injury, disrespects the elderly, prefers to focus on his own goals). He believes that no matter one’s circumstances, you should be able to scrape together a way to live and he will do whatever he can to help that happen for as many people as possible.
MutationsMutation description: Adapted, 2ft
Strengths: Can nullify powers
Weaknesses and Limitations: Limit of 2 feet. Must be all up in a mutant’s bidness to nullify.
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: AJ is worst at endurance exercise like long distance running. He is good for bursts of speed and lifting (strength) as well as flexibility because of his fitness hobby. His reflexes (outside of the back of an ambulance) are terrible.
Fighting Style: AJ is not trained to fight. He might get mad enough to throw a punch, but he’s more likely to spar verbally than physically. As an EMT, he’s far more used to showing up after the danger has passed.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Pro: He won’t get hurt if he doesn’t enter a fight. Knowing you can’t or don’t want to fight, means AJ will actively try to avoid one.
Con: Sometimes you don’t get to decide if you are in the fight or not. Against a trained opponent or a persistent one, he will be pummeled.
History Of Your CharacterAJ grew up in a Sikh community in Montreal so densely populated with other Punjabi that he didn’t have need for English until he went to school. For a long time he and his siblings were the model children. They wore their dastaar and head coverings, they studied, they excelled. As the second eldest out of three, he felt compelled to compete with his older brother on everything, especially grades, but it wasn’t until AJ found his love for fitness and the incredible balancing act that is the human body that he decided he would become a doctor.
His brother, always one step ahead on keeping his parent’s favor, worked his way to the top of his year in law school by the time AJ was part of the way through college. Meanwhile, AJ’s younger sister fell behind. She never had the grades to keep up with her brothers and that eventually translated into not trying at all. She fell in with people who were meaner, harder, and stupider.
After her expulsion from college for unsatisfactory attendance, grades, and substance abuse, Ujala moved to America at AJ’s urging in order to leave the bad influence of her friends behind. She became a live-in nanny for a couple in Manhattan and eventually got too close to the man of the house and fell pregnant. Once she was discovered, she lost her job.
AJ couldn’t stand the idea of his sister in a foreign land alone. She was too short-sighted. With no support system, no consistent job, and now with a baby? AJ quit school, much to his parents dismay, before he finished his residency and moved down to New York to help Ujala. He got his EMT certification after long nights of studying and when working in the back of an ambulance didn’t quite bring in enough, he worked to get his driver’s certification as well. He has registered with multiple ambulance companies in order to get around certain labor stipulations, and moonlights often, sometimes as a driver, sometimes as a technician.
For the past 2 years, through Ujala’s pregnancy and the birth of his niece Amber, AJ has continued to work to help support his sister. As of 2017, Amber is approaching 2 years old and the routine of hard work without end has driven AJ to take the leap of a single college course to test the waters and see if he might like to move into the hospital world as an RN with a more normal schedule. Ujala, for her part, works days while AJ works nights.

Sample RP:The radio squawked loudly enough to jerk Ajeet out of his doze. Most of his evenings were slow, despite what television made his job out to be. The company’s official policy was no dozing, but he and his partner often took their lunch to nap on the job which meant he had a hair trigger wake response.
/Uh. Look./ AJ rubbed his eyes, assuming that he was somehow still asleep. Dispatch was usually abrupt and to the point. That was kind of their job.
/We got a call from unit N-11 and they said there’s a guy who’s s***in’ kittens? He’s asking for—/”Crap.” AJ fumbled the receiver and cut in. He already knew this was for him.
”Dispatch this is AJ unit N-2 and I think I know who you mean. Location? Our unit is equipped with catnip narcan. We’ll be headed that way shortly.” He gave his driver a good whack to make sure that Donnie was totally awake.
A little back and forth and they were zooming through traffic. Though AJ wasn’t driving tonight, he could appreciate the moves. Donnie knew not to jerk the wheel even though there was no one in the back.
“So this is that homeless guy, right? The opioid junkie?”
”I don’t know what it is, but it makes his power go cuckoo, you know? Were you here last time? The fur was flying left and right. Not. Normal.”“Oozing kittens isn’t normal in the first place.”
”Neither is making them disappear.” Which had happened when AJ’d gone in to pet one.
“They’re probably illusions or maybe you just have the magic touch.” Speculating on mutant powers was one of Donnie’s favorites. He ran with the AX-men crowd.
The ambulance rolled to a stop and AJ didn’t even bother to grab the narc bag when he jumped out since the other ambulance had its back doors open. No fewer than 7 kittens jumped or fumbled down and out of the back of the New York 12th unit. AJ went to nudge one with his boot and it -
poof- disappeared before he ever made contact.
Soooo Yeah. It was time to take over sitting with the mutant who was sh***in’ kittens.
”Hey. Somebody call for the magic touch?”
