The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Already kind of off his balance, after slamming into the young man, Bear tumbles down to the ground and lands on his butt, looking up at the culprit.
>>"Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't notice you coming."
"Yeah yeah..." Bear growls lightly to himself, this being the second time he ended up on the ground, too bad he couldnt get stronger from his ego being hurt. Bear plants his hands on the ground and forces himself up to a stand before looking at the young man with a sigh. "Watch where you're going next time alright?" He dusts himself off yet again and looks back at King Pharmaceuticals. "Bastards... Can you believe they wont even TALK to someone and give em straight answers?" He growls lightly looking at the man and almost feeling bad for having been so rude.
"Hey... Sorry bout the whole bumping into you thing..." Bear let out a little sigh before extending his hand. "Name's Bear... Yours is?" With a light smile and no further thought into the young man standing in front of him, Bear was simply trying to be polite now.
After a lengthy search on the net at a library near the apartment, considering he hadnt bought a computer or internet for the apartment yet, Bear found something interesting. King Pharmaceuticals, he remembered that name from the night he met Calley and decided it would be a good idea to check it out for himself, maybe learn something about anything from a worker or anything really. Bear knew he just wanted to learn something about the place so he quickly left the Library on a trek to KP. He couldnt help but keep the thoughts of the experiments and such that The Order had done, on MUTANTS in this place, out of his head. He needed to know more about the things he was told by Calley so he could tell Aris more about it himself. There was so much information to be had as long as you knew where to look to get it and how to ask the right questions.
After a lengthy legging to the street address the Internet gave him, Bear stopped and looked up at the building in front of him before looking to a glass door in front of him, seeing "King Pharmaceuticals" written on the door itself. Bear knew that he had to get in there so he walked up the steps and reached for the door and gave it a tug, the door opened, wait, it was open, OH! It's a publicly known place, of course it's open. Bear beat himself up in his head a bit before opening the door a bit more and stepping inside, once inside he walks up to the receptionist at the desk with a smile. "Hey there, is this King Pharmaceuticals?"
"Uh... Isnt that what it says on the outside?" The receptionist snipped back snidely.
"Heh... I guess it does... So... Who do I see about maybe getting a tour or some information?" This question lead to a series of other questions and responses which in turn lead to Bear getting rather upset with the receptionist and the people she called out to 'answer' his questions. A bit longer and a sort of fight broke out inside which ended up having Bear thrown out of the building by two rather large men.
"You stupid pricks!" Bear forced himself to his feet, not wanting to start another brawl like the one outside a few years back. "I'm going to find out something somehow! You just wait and see!" Dusting himself off, Bear turned to leave the area before bumping into.....
After getting the phone call from Meld, Bear's day was already turning out to be great no matter how it ended. After cleaning up the apartment a bit, Bear headed to the door, grabbing his Coat and leaving the apartment. After Bear got to the Elevator, he pressed the down button, a few moments passed and Bear was on the elevator heading to the ground floor. Upon hitting the ground level, Bear exited the elevator, gave a nod to the doorman and headed out of the apartment onto the New York City streets. At first, Bear was pumping his arms lightly as he walked, before realizing he was in pain from the two wounds on his left shoulder. A glance into the mind of Bear shows him picturing the dream he had with the scars going up his arms before shooting to the way his shoulder currently looks. He shuddered lightly at that thought before slowing the swing of his arm and continuing on towards his destination.
Bear was slightly surprised by how close Sanctuary was to the Apartment yet how far as well, shrugging it out of his head, Bear continued to his destination. After a good long walk, he came to the Great Golden Doors, with a grin at their modesty, Bear pushed his way through the doors before entering Sanctuary himself, only having been inside once before. He smiled at the receptionist, seeing her name on a plate on her desk, "Hey Lisa... I'm here to see Meld..." His smile held true as he waited for her to point him in the right direction despite him already knowing it. After getting the direction pointed to him, Bear smiled again and gave Lisa a wave before heading down the hall and to the room that he knew was his old friends room.
Without a knock, Bear slowly crept the door open and walked into the room, he could see Meld hard at work sculpting something and knew a fright wouldnt be good unless he held the knife hand down. Bear quickly and quietly trodded, because he's not very stealthy, over to Meld and grabbed her knife hand as he placed his other hand on her shoulder. "Boo..." He didnt say it loudly, just loud enough to give her a little jump from the sudden contact and change from silence.
"Alright well... First off, I dont think we'll have to worry about special friends, cuz well... I dont have any and I dont have much luck with women either so yeah... Oh well..." Bear paused mentally, skipping to the subject of entertainment, knowing if he was ever cooped up in an apartment for a matter of more than an hour with only basic channels, he'd go crazy and go kill someone on the streets of New York just so he'd have something to do. Bad bad things would happen if Bear got too bored. "We'll have some of that other stuff eventually I think... I mean cmon, what guy DOESNT like playing video games? Huh huh?" Bear laughed lightly looking over at Calley, he could already feel himself getting a bit more comfortable with the whole living situation.
"Yeah, no worries about the whole doctor thing... I'll be ok... It's weird... It's kinda like my body just gets used to the pain after a while... And when I take on my ability, after the rush of pain, it's kinda an acute thing... And my body will hopefully..." Bear crosses his fingers. "Absorb most of a blunt blow without too much effect... But I havent fully tested everything out yet... Remember, I've been in hiding for 7 years... Not much time between when I found out my abilities, 7 years and a couple days ago... And now to figure out the entirety of my ability... All I know is pain manifests it right now and I get stronger and faster and a little more durable."
"Real name? Heh... Well, the only person in this city that knows my real name is my best friend... But... I guess I could give it to you... As long as you promise not to use it anywhere but in the confines of this apartment..." Bear pauses a moment, waiting for the boys response. "Alright... Name is Nicholas Orthin, but dont call me Nicholas if you have to use my real name... My mom calls me that... Just call me Nick." Bear, err... Nick smiled lightly, reaching out his hand to formally introduce himself. He sure did like his formalities after all... Heck, even if he were about to kill a man, he may want to find out his name first... Probably only for the tombstone but that's besides the point.
Bear watched the scene ahead of him with horror, he saw his 5 dollars go up into the air, slam into the head of Maxwell then slide down his head and onto his chest, proceeding to break things and start a fight. Bear let out a light sigh before standing up and pulling out his wallet, he handed $5 to Meld. "Yeah, ok, you won... I get it.." Bear sighed again, moving to sit down when he felt a sudden and harsh pain in the back of his head, he dropped to a knee and reached up, placing a hand on the back of his head. A moment later, he pulled his hand down and looked at it, glass and blood on his hand. It seems a beer bottle had found it's way out of the hand of another man, missing it's target and flying into the back of the head of Bear.
Bear felt a little faint at first from the impact before the pain and dizziness went away and he slowly brought himself back to a standing position. He let out a low growl, looking at his hand and seeing his own blood, it was one thing to get stabbed and a whole other thing to have a bottle smash into the back of his head. Finding he was angry enough, and when his anger consumed him, Bear would accept his abilities without fruition, Bear looked around the area in his direct reach before spotting a piece of the beer bottle, forgetting about his prior open wounds. Bear threw his jacket off of his shoulders, dropping it to the floor before grabbing the broken bottle and placing it on his shirt, pressing it hard into his arm. With a rip towards his body, Bear sliced his own arm wide open, causing himself even more unfelt pain and even more strength.
Another growl escaped his lips as he trodded over to the men in the bar that were fighting, with a swift punch, Bear was able to knock one of the men easily out of the fight. Luckily for Bear, nobody would realize what he was without already knowing his ability, especially if you consider how strong Bear already looks. The fight rages on, Bear now fully involved, throwing punches and grabbing at throats to the best of his ability as he continues to take hit after hit after hit from the drunken fight participants. He knew what he had said was a bit of bad voodoo, saying he doubted something bad would happen, and now look at the predicament he found himself in. After a few moments of uncontrolled brawling from the anger of getting hit by a beer bottle, Bear finally realizes it's time to handle things in a more civilized manner and he begins trying to break the fight up instead of continue it on.
I'd like to stick Bear into the mix of things... I think it'd be fun to see how people deal with having his abilities... And it'd be interesting to RP having a different ability and body... Heh, I can only imagine it now...
*ponders all of the amazing things that could happen to people whilst they're in his body* Heh... *thinks of the horrible things it'd do to his brain switching* This could actually really help Bear deal with his issues about being a mutant...
Nick sat back and listened to Aris, not really knowing how to respond to her or what to think, he knew his mind still raced with thoughts of not wanting to be a mutant, a 'freak' but his mind also raced with thoughts of wanting to be nothing but. He wanted to embrace what and who he was, he wanted to have the strength to stand up for himself, Aris and all mutants alike, he wanted to have the strength to be what he was supposed to be. But who really has that strength, who has the strength to be a strong person, who has the strength to stand up for what they believe in? Who has the strength to be a good person but be willing to do bad things? Who has the strength to kill and have it mean something to them, yet mean nothing at the same time? Who has the strength?
Nick could think of a few people in the history of the world that had showed any strength similar to that which he wanted to have. Nobody really had all of those strengths.... Except mutants for some reason... He couldnt explain it, some men or women would have the strength to stand up for what they believed in, but most wouldnt kill... Some had the strength to kill but it wasnt for standing up for what they believe in... Some had the strength to be a good person but not do the bad things that were required of them... Except mutants, mutants could kill and kill for a cause, mutants could have the right idea in their minds, and continue doing bad things just to reach that goal... Mutants had the strength, and Nick was a mutant. He could see all of the people that the tabloids and newspapers and news casts were talking about in his head at the same time, he could see them all... And he was standing their with them, right next to Aris.
NO! That's not what it's supposed to be! Mutants are.... Freaks, they're not right, not natural... They started because of some lab experiment gone terribly, terribly wrong... That's it, God didnt make mutants he just allowed them to continue on through breeding. Yeah that's exactly what happened. No... No that's not what happened, mutants were born naturally, the X-Gene is in everyone and it's just more active in some than it is in others. Science has proven it... Hasnt it? "Aris, I dont know what to believe... I'm constantly fighting with myself, it's like I've got two people in my head fighting for control and I dont know who's going to win or who I want to win. Which one? The one that is proud of being a mutant? Or the one that considers himself a dirty freak and just wants to go back into hiding... It's so hard to choose Aris, I dont know what to do..." Nick shifted forward again, bringing his hands up to hold his head as he fought himself back and forth in his head, fighting for control, fighting for someone to win out and decide his fate.
"No matter what happens Aris," Nick spoke softly from his hands. "No matter who wins, I'll still help you as long as I'm alive..." Nick sighed lightly, not looking up from his hands as tears were forming, he didnt like not having control over his own head. He didnt like not knowing what was going to happen to him or in his head. He didnt like the situation and didnt like the people he would inevitably have to fight... He didnt like it at all.... None of it..
"I understand Aris, and I'm not asking you to give up on them... I just wanted you to know the things that I was told... Whatever the outcome of the current situation is though... I know you, and I know where you want things to go... And I'd have to agree with your viewpoint on the whole situation. Something needs to be done for mutants to have rights... And part of that something is NOT experimenting on mutants or humans... So yes, when the time comes, I'll be there for you... You know I would've been there for you sooner but things prevented that... So I'm here for you now, whenever you need me and for whatever you need of me.." Nick smiles lightly at what he had just said, knowing that he meant every word of it, even the part of something needing to be done for mutants to have rights.
"Yeah, we should probably take a look at The Mansion, I personally just kinda wanted to stay out of there, simply because it sounds kinda like a cult to me... But hey, it'll be fun to see for myself then poke fun at them later with you..." Nick laughs lightly, knowing that's probably exactly whats going to happen. "Eventually though, we'll have allies and I know I'm going to be working on that... Maybe I'll talk to my friend and see if we can acquire an ally in him... Who knows... But remember, this is all going to take time Aris, and hopefully we have a lot of that... Do you know anything about the members of The Order? What kind of people are in the group? Who would we have to watch out for? Who would we be able to make an alliance with? If not... I think we need to find that out..."
Nick leaned forward on the bench, his elbows on his thighs and his hands folded together in front of him. "It's not bad to be a mutant right?" Nick looked over at Aris slowly, his face held down with weight from his sorrow and his not knowing what to really think about the whole situation. "I mean... Part of me doesnt want to be what I am... But part of me tells me it's the greatest thing in the world... It tells me that when I was 15, and found out about myself, that was the greatest thing that could ever happen to me... But... The other part tells me I'm a freak, it tells me everyone else like me is a freak... And sometimes I agree... And that's what scares me... I dont want to think I'm a freak but I cant help it.." Nick felt his eyes watering a bit and he did the best he could simply to hold them back.
"You dont think I'm a freak right? No... Of course you dont, you're proud of what you are... You're proud... Of being perfect..." Nick smiled lightly at her, thinking she was perfect in every way, not just because she was a mutant. "Why am I like this? Why did our parents talk so poorly about mutants? Why does everyone hate us? I mean... We have maybe 1 person out of every thousand normal humans that is a mutant supporter... We're outnumbered Aris, even if we pull all of the mutants together to form one massive army, and even if we pull in every mutant supporter... We're outnumbered like 10 to 1 Aris... What hope do we have?"
"That may very well be the case Aris, it makes sense... I just... I dont know what to think about it... The scars scare me but at the same time.. They intrigue me... Like you said, what if I have to protect someone I care about or defend myself and I want to be strong enough to do it without having to nearly be killed before the fight even begins... Like I did the other night, pressing my thumb into my shoulder and causing myself pain... Getting stronger through... Self mutilation.." Nick thought about it, and as he said, it scared and intrigued him, making him almost consider doing what his dream had him portrayed as. But, just as soon as Nick began to consider it he shook his head quickly, shooting it out of his head, or rather into the back of his mind.
>>"You know of The Order?"
She said it with some fear and excitement at the same time, or at least that's the tone he caught in her voice when he mentioned knowing of them. Calley seemed to be a reliable source so he decided he should spill some of the stuff they did. "I know you didnt ask me to tell you some of the stuff he told me but I figure I should anyways.... And yes I agree that sometimes bad things need to be done for the greater good." Did he really agree? There was no way of telling at the current moment in time, he hadnt done anything bad enough to even be considered bad in his mind. "And I also think he is a rather reliable source... Or at least the most reliable source I can find at the moment... He told me he saw them do the things he said..." Nick paused a moment trying to gather his thoughts.
"He told me that The Order has experimented on humans, usually letting them die by the time the experiments were done... I guess trying to find some stuff out, I cant really say exactly what they did because he didnt tell me that part... But that's not the worst part of it..." Nick paused again, letting these things sink in a bit for Aris before continuing to the bad part. "They also experimented on Mutants... They would go out, kidnap mutants or humans, bring them back to wherever it is their base of operations is, probably The Sanctuary or their front... I cant remember the name of that... And they'd experiment on them... For the mutants, I guess they tried to see what their bodies could take or how far they could advance their abilities somehow..." Nick felt sick to his stomach thinking about that.
"I've heard of it Aris... And they're the kinds of people that want mutants and humans to live together in peace. From what I understand, they dont really do anything... They're the kinds of people that would rather talk and talk and talk and never resolve any major issues if what I've heard and assumed is right... Dont take my word for it about them... I'm just trying to pull my thoughts together on them... I dont know enough about the different factions to even formulate an informed opinion on them sadly... I just... I dunno... Maybe we should check this stuff out a little further at some point.." Nick looked around the park, hoping nobody was around that would hear the things that he was saying.
>>"Maybe if you told me about it I might be able to help you deal with it, show you that's its only a figment of your overactive imagination."
Nick thought for a moment about what she had just said and what his dream was... "Well... Ok... I was sitting here in the park, this is how my dream started, and I got up... Nothing was moving, no wind, no nothing... It was silence around me... I had forgotten why I was in this spot so I got up and started walking out of the park... On my way out... I saw some people, and they saw me... They screamed and started running away... I chased, trying to find out what it was... More people and more people all reacting the same way Aris... They were all afraid of me... I eventually looked at my arms..." Nick paused a moment, not liking what he was seeing in his head. "I looked at my arms and saw scars on my arms, everywhere, almost like tiger stripes... I thought I was a freak looking at it... So... I tried to get rid of the scars and.... And... I pulled my own skin off Aris." Nick let out a sigh, not knowing what to think of his dream, all he knew was it scared him.
After listening to what Aris was saying and how she described the Organization she joined and how he knew she was staying at the Sanctuary. Nick knew what she was talking about, he knew who she joined and it hurt him slightly, but at the same time it didnt, because he knew deep down that The Order were the ones that were going to change the future. "Let me guess... This organization you joined.... They're called "The Order"?" Nick paused, waiting for an answer that he already knew.
"I've heard some bad things about them Aris, I've heard some really bad things from the mouth of a person that was already there... I wont give any names because I think they want to stay anonymous... But... Bad things... Very bad things Aris... The Order has the right idea, but they go about it the wrong way..." Nick sighed, looking to his friend, watching her face to see how she responds to the things he had just said. "I can tell you what I've been told... If you want... But like you said, this conversation stays between us..." He could feel the tension in the air, tension that wasnt created by either of them, it was tension created by the name itself, tension created by this... Organization...
>>"Nick. Nick. Calm down. It was just a dream. It was just a dream, calm down."
Nick, heart still beating frantically, looked up from his arms to his good friend and let out a sigh of relief. "It felt real though... I could even feel the pain when I...." He paused a moment, thinking about the dream, scaring himself half to death with the thought of what he'd just seen. "I uh... It was a bad dream Aris... People were afraid of me... I... I was a monster...." He sighed, looking down at his arms again, seeing the scars in his mind.
"Never mind that... What's up? What's going on? I mean... I appreciate the call, and I know you wouldnt call JUST because you needed something... But it sounded like you did, so talk to me Aris. You know I'm here for you, whatever you need of me..." He smiled, scooting over on the bench he was sitting at and patting the spot next to him as he looked up at Aris. "Sit, please, and talk to me..." He tried everything he could to force the nightmare out of his head, but it stayed their, haunting his thoughts.
His arms were covered in scars, people were afraid of him, it seemed this was something that would happen to him if he accepted his abilities. Or at least, that's what he thought would happen if he accepted them. If he let himself believe he was a mutant and that was a good thing, then he thought his body would change itself to make him look more like a mutant. He didnt even bring into account that mutants didnt have to look like mutants to be mutants, but to him, he felt like he had to look like a mutant to be one fully.
>>"How does ‘half the rent, and if you’re cooking something good, you tell me’, sound? And like I said before, you can have the bedroom. Not just for tonight; that can be yours, period. I haven’t used it for months. Just leave me some space in the closet for a few outfits.”
"Done, done and done... That all sounds pretty fair so far... I dont mind cooking for more people... Would you be against me possibly inviting over a friend for dinner every now and again... Considering I only have one friend, well... Two now I guess.... At the current moment in time..." Bear smiled, trying to remember all of the recipes built into his brain over the years, he then realized that'd be a bad idea considering his mind was already racing with everything else going on and all the information sifting through it. "Oh and of course I wont vacuum the tiger, or do anything like that... We'll be lucky if I remember how to use a vacuum..." Bear laughed lightly, knowing he's telling the truth, especially considering his mom was a House Wife/Mother his entire life and he only knew how to cook cuz she didnt come over to his apartment to cook, just to clean up after him. Oh man, despite his parents hating mutants, he sure as heck was a spoiled person when it came to his mother, such a momma's boy.
"Window cracked, got it... And I'd probably just leave the bird for you for a snack or something... Door locked whenever I leave though?" Bear glanced back at the door to the apartment, wondering if that was a good idea, considering Calley had a tendency to probably lose his keys whenever he took on a different form. Then again, even if he lost his keys, he could always transform into his cat-like-ness and climb in through said open window.
"Yeah I'll probably go buy some pillows soon and I'll make sure they stay in the bedroom, it'd just be weird to have them elsewhere anyways." Bear laughed lightly, wondering why the boy didnt want the pillows out of the bedroom, also wondering why he had no pillows in the first place. Must be a 'straight back' kinda sleeper like some of those weird people out there.
>>“Any things you’ll be needing me to do?”
"Uhm... I'm not really a picky person... I guess just that prior question you already answered... And... Hmmm..." Bear sat back, thinking to himself, trying to figure out if there was anything he needed from the Cat-Boy-Tiger. "What do you... Err, we, have in the means of entertainment? Cable? Movies? Internet? Video games? If you say no to any of that stuff... I'll probably go buy some of it when I have enough money... If I get that job with your friend... Ghost was it?" Bear paused, thinking back to what the boy just said, trying to remember the shop owners name. "Yeah... If I get that job, it'll probably happen sooner... Anything you'd need me to buy?"
>>“What’s your mutation, if you don’t mind my asking? I’m an animal shifter, if you haven’t figured that one out yet. I can pretty much do any animal form. Oh, and any mortal enemies I should worry about?"
What's your mutation? Oh god, that question... Hmm, how to answer it... "Well... I uh... I get stronger with the more pain I feel, hence me being able to lift a 450lb cat after having it drop on me... Only problem is, when my adrenaline wears off, I lose my strength and feel the pain hit me suddenly..." Bear sighed, thinking back to all the pain he's been through from the fights and tiger bombardment... "And no, at the current moment in time, no mortal enemies..." Mortal enemies? How could Bear have mortal enemies? How does one even get a 'mortal enemy' it just didnt make sense to him... Sounded like something out of a comic book. Wait, most of this mutant stuff sounded like comic book stuff... So it sorta made sense if you really put all those things together.
After receiving the call on his cell from Aris, asking him to meet her in Central Park, Bear grinned lightly as he turned around and glanced out the apartment window to see Central Park right there. "Alright, that's way too easy..." Bear laughed lightly, turning and walking to the door of his new shared apartment with Calley, he grabs his Trench Coat from the coat hanger on the wall and throws it over his shoulders, cringing slightly at the still unhealed wound on his side and shoulder. "Gah, knife wounds take too long to heal..."
A moment later, Bear opens the door to the apartment and walks out, making sure to check for his key and making sure to lock the door behind him. He heads down the hallway and presses a button on the wall, waiting for an elevator. A short ride down and Bear exits the elevator and heads out through the lobby of the apartment building, giving a nod to the doorman before walking across the street and heading into central park. She wanted it to be a private conversation... Hmmm deep into Central Park I go... Bear smiled politely to people as he passed them up, happy he could hide who and what he was so easily in the open. A few minutes passed by and Bear found himself deep in central park, sitting on a park bench, waiting for his good friend to arrive.
The twiddling of his thumbs began, him knowing he was at least 5-10 minutes ahead of Meld in the amount of time it took him to get to his destination. He sat back, arms stretched out across the bench and layed his head back, eyes closed. His brain racing with thoughts of why she'd called him and why she wanted their meeting to be a private one. It could have something to do with the night at the bar, or it could be something to do with his meeting with Abyss, or even his findings about The Order. All of it too much to really think about at the same time and all of it a lot to deal with in the short amount of time since he's been in New York City.
Bear could feel himself slowly drift off to sleep as he sat in the peaceful innards of Central Park, no joggers jogging by him, no dogs barking 10 feet from him. It seemd this was an area only approached by people wanting to have sex in a public place without getting caught. The sleep started and the dreams began, Bear found himself again in Central Park, feeling like nothing had changed, he was sitting on the Park Bench still. Bear slowly stands up from the bench and looks around, nothing is moving, no wind is blowing and everything is still, for the moment. He walks slowly through the park, forgetting why he was there and looks around, he sees people finally and heads in their direction. They look at him horrified and run off, "What's going on? Why are you afraid of me? I'm just like you..." Bear chases after them, trying to find out what's going on.
The dream continues, still on the chase, Bear sees more people and again they look at him, scream and begin running away. More people and more people, all with the same reaction to seeing him. Bear is now chasing all of them looking for answers despite not really wanting to chase anymore. The begin to get away and Bear looks at his arm where his previous knife wound was and sees scars going up his arm like tiger stripes. No open wounds, he looks to his other arm and sees the same thing, he's no longer wearing his coat or a shirt for that matter. "What's going on?" Bear stops, looking at his arms next to each other. "What happened to me?!" He begins clawing at his own flesh, trying to pull it from his body, his fingers some how find a way under his skin, pain flushes his body before dissipating. He digs his fingers further in and begins tugging, getting stronger. A few moments later, his skin tears and he rips a straight line of flesh clean from his arm, bone showing beneath.
Bear suddenly wakes from the dream, screaming and holding his arms out, looking at them for a moment, hoping it wasnt real. He quickly pulls the sleeve of his jacket up, looking to the arm he ripped open and sees his arm, normal. "Oh god... What was that?" Bear pants lightly, slumping back against the bench, not wanting to think about the dream anymore.
Bear sat in his bar stool watching all of the commotion around him, shortly after mentioning inviting the spotted girl over, Meld was up in her usual ways calling her over without a moments hesitation. The girl arriving in the middle of the speech from Max and the complacent merrowing of the drunken Cat-Boy-Tiger-Parrot. Bear couldnt help but crack a smile as things continued to get interesting, neither of the two boys easily controllable and one of them falling into a slight fit of depression due to his truth-serum like alcohol. "It's too bad that happened Captain Max..." Captain Max seemed like a good thing to call this guy after the introduction he drunkenly gave when they met.
When the spotted girl walked over and sat down next to him, Bear smiled politely, turning away from Max and reaching his hand over. "Hi there, name is Bear... Dont feel too bad about being 'new' here, I actually just got to New York a couple days ago... Just relax, it's a bar, and a mutant friendly bar at that. So you should be ok, plus, if anything bad happens, which I doubt it will." Oh that's a curse right there, doubting something bad will happen usually means something bad is going to happen. Hopefully though, on this night, nothing bad WILL happen. Hopefully... "If something happens, you got 4 other people here to help out with the situation... Despite 2 of them being drunk..." Bear glanced over at the two drunken young men, catching sight of the Cat-Boy-Tiger-Parrot resting back on it's haunches and getting ready to launch itself up to the lap of Captain Max.
Bear laughs lightly, waiting to see what happens and find out if this was going to turn into a failed attempt at the jump. He gently reaches out and taps Meld on the shoulder, "What's your money on? Does he make the jump or miss? I say he misses... Five Dollars..." Bear grins lightly, glancing back over at Calley, still not understanding what he's saying with his constant merrowing. Must be trying to tell some sort of a story...
>>"It could be based on Abyss pasted. You have no idea what the humans did to him. Why say such mean things to him?"
"Well I'm j-" At this moment the back of the hand of the monkey man comes across the face of Bear, the strike is hard and cruel, any mere human would not be getting up from this hit. The hit having sent Bear tumbling head over heels, slamming into a large tree and stopping him dead in his tracks. The pain is immense in his face and the rest of his body before it slowly dissipates and he can feel himself getting stronger, he plants his hands on the ground and pushes himself up to a kneeling position. "Abyss!" Bear growls lightly under his breath, hoping to stop the pair from walking away.
Bear gets up quickly and turns to face the pair of fellow mutants, he rubs his jaw simply out of habit and walks up to the two. "I was just saying that because I want mutant rights as well... And I figure there's gotta be a better way to go about it... That's all... Well, fighting is the ONLY way, but... I dunno..." Bear grumbles to himself a moment before letting out a sigh, hoping not to get attacked again.
Wait, was Bear admitting to being a mutant again, he couldnt believe the words coming out of his mouth, the things he was saying seemed very frightening for some reason. "Err... Uh... I mean..." Bear looked away from the two, suddenly not wanting to admit to what he was again. His brain and his heart always fighting with each other for control over his mouth, his brain telling him being a mutant was bad, and his heart telling him being a mutant was perfection in and of itself. The permanent victor would be apparent within a matter of days for Bear, and for all mutants who could use his abilities, it's only a thing of hope that his heart wins the battle.
