The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Pain, strength, pain, strength, pain... That's the way it goes, that's the way it's always gone. Pain, lots of it, then no pain. The muscles seem to grow and tense, then they dont feel anything. He can pick up an entire couch with one arm. The initial damage to the body and the adrenaline wear off and there's even more pain. What does it all mean? Even he doesnt know.
A week goes by, 2 cuts have found there way onto the arm of this rather large man and rather normal looking man. They're mostly healed but the cuts are there. He makes another slash across his arm, his hands shaking slightly while doing so. A few seconds go by and the pain fades. He sits there, pondering what's going on, his eyes glinting a red hue as he stares at his arm. He laughs lightly to himself then jabs his finger into the wound. Absolutely nothing, not even a whimper. No pain. A few more seconds go by and the numbness subsides and the pain takes over. He lets out a groan at the deep burning from the wound.
Pain... No... Damage? Hmm...
Another week goes by and 2 more knife wounds have found their way onto the arm of this man. Making it 5, straight across, deep scars on his arm. He lets out a sigh and slides the knife quickly across his arm, then again even faster and again yet faster. He holds back the noises and the pain subsides. He slowly stands up, looking at the blood running down his arm. A chair? No... The bed? He grabs his bed and easily lifts it above his head, he makes no noise, no sound of celebration, no sound of weakness, not even a groan while lifting the bed. His face, however, has a look of surprise, he holds the bed over his head triumphantly for a bit. The strength fades, he can still hold it but a bit wobbly, the pain kicks in he lets out a cry and the bed drops on him. The pain is gone again, he lifts the bed off of himself and slowly climbs out from under it. He retreats to a corner that has blood stains all over the walls and floor. He waits for a minute and the pain kicks in, he brings his knees to his chest and rocks back and forth a bit trying to figure out whats wrong with him.
A few more weeks go by and the once proud man has found himself defeated and alone in his apartment. A bill sits on the floor under the door to his apartment, it has "Past Due" stamped on it. More wounds have found their way laddering up both of his arms. In total 16 slash marks, 8 per arm. Tiger stripes, deep, dark, ugly looking tiger stripes run up his arms. His mind fills with thoughts of his best friend and her problems, then his mind races with the pain caused to him by the big monkey looking man. His mind continues to race, thinking of the people he's met, the promises he's made and everything he hasnt done for everyone he knows. He breaks down into a fit of tears and pain. Depression hits and he cant even think about anything but how much his life has changed. This city, this horrible city, what has it done to Aris. I cant stop it.
Weeks go by yet again, the apartment is now empty, the blood stains still there with even more yet. Including a very large stain under the body of a beaten man. The smell in the room is stale and discomforting, the door is shut and the neighborhood is quiet. Further into the dark alleys of New York City, the very same tiger striped man is curled up in a cardboard box, a knife visibly in his hand. A noise off in the distance and the blade of the knife shoots out of the box and the man leaps up, looking around, he hears sirens and takes off in a full sprint further from the scene of his crime. A homeless man stumbles out in front of him and the knife plunges into the belly of the poor man. He quickly shoots a hand to the mouth of his victim, fear present on his face. I swear I didnt mean to do it... He popped out of nowhere.
Running always seems like the best idea in times like this, for everyone, not just him. Tears begin running down his face, he keeps running, his muscles are burning from the lactic acid build-up, he keeps going, his feet trip up, he tumbles and slams down on the ground hard. His chest is heaving, his head is pounding and his heart is heavy. He just killed a man and doesnt know how to deal with it, the pain goes away and he quickly jumps up and starts running again. The pain starts coming back and the blood soaked knife in his hands gives him an idea, he jabs the knife into his forearm and keeps going as fast as he can. His feet carry him a great distance, eventually getting him outside of New York City, various twists and turns of the knife keeping him going the whole way. Wilderness, he finally stops, the knife comes out of his arm and he looks at the severe wound he created from his fear. The pain and exhaustion rush back and he collapses on the ground in a bloody and breathless mess.
A few more weeks go by and he's still cowering in the woods, he looks desperate now, his mind is breaking down and he cant control what he's doing anymore. The knife in his hand once again, the man cuts off his shirt and looks down at his muscular chest. With a sigh he brings the knife down to his abdomen and with a quick movement of his hand, pain hits him. Another quick movement of his hand just higher than the previous one and he now has two severe wounds across his stomach. The pain is gone and the knife is coated in his blood. Two fresh wounds on his stomach and the light of the moon shimmering off of his cold and blank eyes. He slowly reaches down to his fresh wounds and paints his face with an old war paint, at an angle from the top of his head down to either cheek. His lips part and his abdomen tenses as he lets out a loud roar, a grin stretches across his face only to change to maniacal laughter. The pain kicks in after a few minutes and he grimaces but continues to laugh. "I am a Bear... They cant stop me."
Time begins to move quicker now, Bear travels by foot to the nearest small town to New York City. When he arrives he greets the first person he sees with a knife to the stomach. The next person he sees is a police officer, the officer holds up his gun and orders Bear to stop but Bear continues moving forward, laughing the whole way. Fearing for his life, the officer lets off a grazing shot to slow the man down, grazing the thigh of the large man doesnt do anything. Bear roars with laughter as he tears open his already ruined shirt. The pain subsides quickly and Bear looks at the officer in front of him who begins to let off a flurry of unaimed shots, a bullet lands in the shoulder of the big man, then in his side and another breaking his clavicle. Bear laughs maniacally before swinging at the officer and sending him flying across the street. The damage done to his body has given him a momentary burst of strength which he uses to his advantage, smashing through the wall of a bank and prying the closing vault door open. He walks in quickly and grabs whatever he can carry before taking off in a sprint out the bank and out of the town as fast as he can. He knows the pain will kick in any second and he has to put as much distance between himself and this town before it happens.
About a mile outside of town, Bear collapses and screams out in agony. He writhes in pain on the ground for a few moments before passing out. Upon waking he finds himself strapped to a metal bed by leather belts tied to the bed. His wounds are patched up with bloody gauze pads and his body doesnt hurt as much as it should. He attempts to struggle but realizes whoever tied these leather belts probably cranked the wheel on The Rack. (very tight they are) A few moments pass and a young woman walks into the room with a knife in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other. She takes a quick swig of the nectar before looking the man in the eyes. "Who are you and where did you get all of that money?"
"It doesnt matter who I am.. Let me go!" The girl screams as the mans body tenses up, she tosses some of the whiskey from the bottle into his eyes before holding the knife shakily above him.
"I'll kill you!" Bear laughs at the unconvincing statement from the girl.
"No, you'll stab me and then find out what happens when people do that."
"What happens?" The girl backs off a bit before taking another swig of the whiskey, this time she cringes and coughs a little.
"Stab me and find out.." Bear grins at the girl, ideas of what he's going to do to her when he gets free running through his mind like a wild fire.
"No!" The girl pours some more whiskey in his face before walking off quickly.
A few days go by and Bear has calmed down a bit but only a little, she has fed him and patched him up, keeping his wounds clean so they can heal. The girl is a regular nurse maid taking care of a cripple. Only Bear isnt a cripple and she isnt a nurse. "How old are you girl?"
"I'm 19 years old, what does it matter to you?"
"Well, I just wanted to know how long you've been around this earth before I KILL YOU!" Bear snarls at the girl and she laughs, knowing he cant do anything at all right now.
"When are you going to tell me what I want to know?"
"It'll be a cold day in hell first"
"Fine, lets see how you feel when I havent fed you in a few days."
A few days go by and Bear is still unwilling to cooperate, he snarls at the girl whenever she walks into the room, he barks at her like a dog when she turns her back on him. The girl lets another couple of days go by before she reenters the room, this time, Bear is passive with her. He realizes that he's either dead or he has to give in to her demands.
"So.. Shall we start from the beginning? What's your name?" The girl smiles as she pulls up an uncomfortable looking chair and sits down.
"Nicholas Orthin.. My nickname is Bear."
"Alright, that's a good start... Where did you get all of that money?"
"I stole it from a bank..."
"How did you survive all of those gunshot wounds and still make it out of town carrying all of that weight? I had to make 4 trips just to get it all back here."
"Wait... You kept it?"
"Answer the question..."
"I'm a mutant... Physical Damage to my body causes me to gain strength and endurance. I dont feel pain when this is happening. But I think when my adrenaline starts to lower, the pain comes back and the strength goes away."
"A mutant huh? That's a really... Horrible ability.. Couldnt you ask for something better?"
"It doesnt work like that... I was born with this... Mutation.. I didnt choose it..."
"Fair enough.." The girl stands up slowly and turns to walk away.
"Wait... At least tell me who my captor is..."
"My name is Alexis... And I'll be back with some food for you.."
A few moments go by and Alexis walks in with a cup of water and a plate of food. "Now, if I let you loose, you have to promise not to do anything bad."
"I promise." Bear sounds very sincere with his words, causing Alexis to trust him. She walks over and unties the belts from the bed, releasing him from his restraints. Bear slowly sits up, cringing the whole way, he grabs at his wrists giving them a small massage before being handed the plate and cup. Within minutes he inhales the food with a smile on his face.
"Alright, now... What to do with you?"
"You arent going to kill me are you?" Bear looks at the small girl with a concerned look on his face.
"No.. I dont think so..." Alexis giggles lightly and walks out of the room, shutting the door behind her. What sounds like a dead bolt sliding into place comes from the other side of the door.
A matter of weeks goes by with this banter going on between Alexis and Bear, both beginning to call each other by their names and both gaining mutual respect and admiration for the other. The time doesnt go smoothly however, Bear has his good days and his bad like any normal mental patient. Some days he's fine and is able to walk around the room and interact with Alexis like nothing is going on. Other days he snaps and has to be shot with a tranquilizer from the other side of the door. Only for him to wake up in restraints again for a couple of days.
After the constant back and forth, a day comes when Alexis doesnt show up, then another day and another, finally when Bear thinks he's going to die of starvation or thirst, the deadbolt unlocks and the door opens slowly. Bear sits up and glances at the door, waiting for Alexis to walk through, it doesnt happen. He waits a few more minutes before getting up and walking over to the door. He pulls it open and nobody is there.
Behind the door is an eerie sight, a duffel bag sits at the steps to a long hallway leading up with a small light at the end. Bear kneels down and opens the duffel, he pulls out a pair of clean jeans, a nice black button up shirt, a black trench coat, black army boots and a small wad of cash. Being that the only clothes he's wearing is a torn T and a pair of bloody jeans, Bear quickly changes out of his rags and into his new clothes. He drops the cash into the duffel and picks it up. The duffel shifts slightly and weight is centered in a different spot from the cash. He quickly looks into the duffel and finds a large army knife resting at the bottom of the duffel.
With a chuckle, Bear slips the knife, in it's sheath, into his pocket before heading up the stairs. Barely able to see because of the blinding light coming from a window in the door at the top of the stairs. He waits for a moment for his eyes to adjust to the light before reaching out and opening the door. Light pours in from the open door and Bear covers his eyes for a bit before slowly looking out under his arm. It's daylight.
After allowing for his eyes to adjust to the light, Bear walks out of the door and into the rest of the world. Only to walk out of what looks like a small storage hut in the woods. He looks around for a moment before stopping to listen to everything around him. Noises coming from behind the trees draw his attention and he begins a slow hike through the woods only to find a highway with a few cars buzzing by occasionally.
Bear thinks to himself for a moment before walking down the side of the highway, the duffel hanging down by his side. He keeps walking for a while, not one car stopping to offer him a ride. This shouldn’t come to anyone as a surprise he is a rather large man in general and wearing a black trench coat. Bear continues to walk slowly towards wherever.
Some time passes and Bear has found himself traveling to quite a few small towns all just outside of New York city. Each time he enters a city, he stays in a small motel for a day or two then begins walking again. Nearing the end of his journeys, Bear decides it’s almost time to go back to New York city, he hasn’t had an episode recently at all and that makes him feel good.
It’s been a year since he left New York and 18 months since he’s seen anyone he recognizes. No episodes in the last few months since leaving the shack and he’s feeling good about himself.
This is where the past ends and the present begins. Bear makes his way, on foot, into New York City to try and find his place once more, but the fear of losing his sanity is still looming over him.
So I know most of ya'll dont know me and those that may know me just from the Cbox but I'm back and here is my profile!

Character
Personality: (How you character behaves, social tendencies, quirks, etc.) Bear is an odd character, he is usually pretty normal, doesnt act out a lot, tries to keep to himself as much as possible. But on the slight occasion he snaps and loses control of himself, his mind still hasnt healed from when he drove himself insane. Other than that, he's come to accept his mutation to a certain degree thanks to a young girl named Alexis. He likes to keep to himself as much as possible, the quiet guy that likes to sit alone on a crowded bus. Hobbies/ Interests: Video games, getting in fights, the Occult, sword collecting and movies. Job or part time job and description: (if applicable) Jobs can be established later through in character RPing. If you plan on working at the mansion it will have to be approved. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Bear is afraid of not being in control of himself. He's gone insane once and didnt like what it did to him. He also doesnt like the thought that he may never be able to connect with Arris again considering the road she has gone down. Special talents: Knows how to weild a sword. And is really good at cutting himself without causing serious injury.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral. Bear has his times when he's insane and his times when he's normal. When he's normal, he likes to try to help people as much as he can and he'll only fight if someone else starts it. But when he's insane, well, there's no telling what he's going to do.
Mutations
Mutation description: Bear gets stronger and faster the more damage he takes he is also able to block pain completely once his ability triggers. His max strength, for example, is 20 and his base is 8. He wont get punched in the face by a normal person and jump straight to 20. Rather he’d go to like a 9. A deep laceration could bring him up to a 15 at the very most depending on how big the cut is. To get to say a 20, Bear would need to get shot multiple times and be pretty near death when his ability runs out. Also, his strength doesn’t go down once it goes up until his ability fades completely. And as of this writing, his ability fades when his adrenaline wears off. And when his ability fades, all of the damage he took to his body when he couldn’t feel it comes back in a rush making him, usually, collapse in pain. Strengths: Added physical endurance and strength, no pain felt when fighting. Weaknesses: His physical attributes only increase from physical damage to his body, also, he feels no pain during the fight. Thusly causing a problem in and of itself because when he goes back to normal, the damage is already done and he could very well die. Also, another obvious downside is simply that it takes physical damage for Bear’s ability to even begin to manifest.
Secondary mutation description: (if applicable) This mutation should be linked or make sense with your first mutation. You don't need a second mutation, but you can develop one later on with moderator approval. Strengths: Weaknesses:
Fighting Style: Street/Power
Explanation: Bear's fighting style is basically not a style. He uses his strength as a weapon when he gets hurt but he also uses street smarts. Pros for fighting style: Can adapt to any kind of fight Cons for fighting style: No specific form and will get beat in a skill vs skill fight if powers are negated.
Faction Allegiance The X-men/ The Order/ The Kabal/ Other/ Unaffiliated: Unaffiliated
History Of Your Character: Bear grew up, known to his friends and family as Max, he only developed the nickname 'Bear' later in life. As he was a child, growing up in Vancouver, BC, Canada, he had a fairly simple life. Playing outside with his best friend at the time, Aris Callin. They did everything together from exploring any nearby stream or strange place to just hanging out and watching TV or movies or playing videogames. Bear didnt discover his abilities until halfway through High School at about the age of 15, he got into a fight one day when Aris was being harrassed by a group of school bullies. He, being her close friend, decided enough was enough and walked in, trying to stop the onslaught of terms. The bullies, being bullies, turned their attention to Bear, pushing him and telling him to mind his own business, out of haste and instinct, Bear swung hard for the jaw of one of the kids, the kid laughed and a beatdown ensued. Aris tried to get in to stop the fight but she was pushed back hard by one of the boys and ran off as fast as possible to find someone to help her friend.
At this point, Bear kicked at one of the boys and sent him flying backwards, unknowing of the pain he should be feeling or the reason he's so strong, Bear swung hard again, hitting the same kid in the jaw, and toppling him like a house of cards. The fight didnt last long with Bear easily disposing of the 4 bullies who were previously harrassing his best friend. Fights end, Bear stood up, blood running from his nose and various cuts on his body, not feeling any pain and not wanting to get in trouble for the fight that just took place. As he stepped to run away from the devastation, his body suddenly rushed with pain and immobilization, causing him to drop to the ground in agony, not knowing what was going on. By the time Aris had gotten to where the fight took place, and where now was filled with devastation, all her and her help found was 5 bodies on the ground and only one beaten and bloody. A gasp escaped her lips and she ran to the aid of her friend who was shaking from the pain he was feeling and comforted him like a good friend would while paramedics were being called.
After that moment, Bear had a weird feeling that something was wrong with him and he decided to try to figure out what... So he went about finding out what it was, one day while stewing over the subject for hours in his room by himself. Bear, upset, slammed his fist into the wall, not making a dent in it's paint covered sheetrock. The pain shot through his hand for a moment before dispersing quickly, Bear punched the wall again and this time very little pain was felt. He thought on this for a moment before punching the wall as hard as he could, and where typically his hand would be throbbing and he would be in a great deal of pain, he felt nothing despite having put a hole in the wall itself. After a few minutes passed, his hand was suddenly enflamed from the previous punches and he decided he needed to test this out even further. Test after test, eventually Bear realized that pain caused him to get stronger and he could block out said pain after a certain point, allowing him to continue as long as his adrenaline was pumping.
After his discovery and his further examining of this ability, Bear went directly to Aris and told her what he found out, at first she seemed to not know what to think but after a while, she began to believe him for some reason. The two continued to be inseperable throughout High School, Bear had the one person in his world that he knew wouldnt think he was crazy and Aris, well, he didnt know why Aris stuck with him. After High School, Aris and Bear remained friends and kept in touch and hung out as much as they could before the incident with her sister. After that point, she ran away from home and Bear lost contact with her for a while, until one day he got an odd phone call from her, letting him know she was alright, the two discussed things for a bit and Bear found out his long time friend was just like him, a freak(in his mind). Time went on, the two kept in contact as much as they could with Bear simply living a "normal" life in Canada. His nickname was given to him by a coworker of his at a Gas Station when he was 20. After a while, he got tired of being alone, like he usually was, and decided he should go and find Aris in New York City. With no plans and enough money to get to New York and surive for a month or so, Bear packed his bags and any important belonging he had and could carry, and moved to New York City.
From there, he met up with Aris in New York city. His abilities developed a little and manifested more the more time he spent with her because of the danger she always had around her. Eventually the fast life of New York City and the enormous Mutant population got to Bear forcing him to seal himself up in his apartment with no outside contact. His mind started to break and eventually killed his landlord forcing him to break even more. He escaped the city and found himself completely snapped outside of New York City in a small town. After robbing a bank and losing his mind and a lot of blood in the process, Bear collapsed outside that small town and was brought in by a young girl. By the time she was done with him and by the time he snapped, Bear was very nearly 24 years old. She brought him out of his dark hole in his mind long enough for him to be able to go free. The only problem being he could snap at any minute and lose his mind for a time. A few months after his 24th Birthday, Bear decided it was time to head back to New York City to try and catch up with Aris again.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Aris Callin Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Sample RP: (using my original sample RP)
"Where the heck is she? I've looked everywhere for her... Maybe I should just let her find me..." A tall man sighs lightly as he trudges through the alleys in New York City, he wears a long Black Trench Coat, blue jeans and a plain white T-Shirt. Hands in his pockets, the man slowly emerges from the Alleyway and walks out onto a busy sidewalk in the middle of the day. Another sigh escapes his lips as he walks down the sidewalk, spotting a Liquor store and walking in slowly, the man behind the counter eyes him suspiciously as he walks around to the area where the liquid refreshment was kept. As Bear was trying to decide what to get to drink, a voice echoes into his ears from the front of the store.
"Gimme all your money!" Bear turns around quickly to see a man holding a knife at the cashier behind the counter. Bear sighs again and grabs a bottle of Mountain Dew from the cooler and walks up to the front.
"How much for this?" Bear holds out the soda.
"Man, you got a deathwish?" The guy spins around, holding the knife up to Bear.
"No, I just want to buy this soda.. Now, how much?" Bear looks past the knife wielding man to the cashier who doesnt answer. "So... I can just walk out with this soda without paying? Is that what you're telling me?"
"Man, just get the hell out of here!"
"Hey, I'm trying to ask the man a question, this is his store, not yours..." Bear growls lightly with his words before turning back to the cashier waiting for an answer.
"Screw this!" The knife wielder quickly cocks back a fist and punches Bear in the jaw hard. Bear's head shoots back and he rubs his jaw in agony as he feels himself getting stronger.
"Dont do that..." Bear rubs his jaw a bit more while looking at the attempted robber with disdain.
"What? This?" The robber swings again, hitting Bear again in the jaw and Bear rubs his jaw lightly, the pain dulled now as his strength grows moreso.
"You stupid piece of crap..." Bear growls lightly. The robber laughs in his face and stabs him in the arm, trying to scare him off but Bear doesnt budge, his body blocking out the pain as he grabs the man by the throat and lifts him off his feet with ease. Bear then tosses the man out of the store and turns back to the cashier, "How much?"
"Just take it and go..." The cashier frantically ducks under the counter.
"Fine whatever..." Bear tosses two dollars down on the counter and walks out of the door, as the robber backs up away from him frightened before jumping up and taking off as fast as he can.
Bear groaned lightly, clutching at the side of his face, he felt like his skull had be crushed in and couldnt believe he didnt feel it in the least. He heard something about a void as Kasumi was rubbing his head, he gave a sigh before lurching forward and falling into the void that Abyss was talking about. "I feel pain after the fact... I can take a...." He lets out a groan again. "Hit, and it will hurt a bit for a few moments but then it will stop hurting and I can get up... And fight if need be..." Bear could feel the pain in his head lessening as he laid down in the void, agony spreading over his body.
"I get stronger with damage done to my body but that hit, it feels like broke my jaw or something.... It hurt so bad... It always hurts bad for the first few moments after my lack of pain wears off..." Bear closes his eyes and thinks back to all the times he's had this stuff happen to him. He's trying to keep his mind busy, the tiger falling on him, the ability wears off and he collapses, the knife in his shoulder, the ability wears off and he's in agony from all the hits he took prior. It was like, any damage he took while in a fight was still damage, but he couldnt feel it until after the fight... When he was calmed down... Then, at that point, everything hits him all at once, causing the immense amount of pain he constantly goes through when this stuff happens.
"I dont know the full extent of my ability, never really got the chance to check it out fully... It's just something that I have used in the past when I had problems... People jumping me and my friend, stuff like that... I dont know what it's all about or why I have this ability, I just know I do..." Bear sighs as he rests in the void, waiting to get to the healer to get patched up.
Bear lets out a light sigh as he spins around, looking at all of the people, counting heads before pausing. "Ok... Where's the cat?" Bear frantically looked around, not wanting to have lost his roommate, just before he moves to head into the bar, he hears a mew from behind him and a cat climbs up his back and onto his shoulder, wobbling and not knowing what to do. "Whew... Ok we got everyone..." Bear smiled at Meld lightly before turning to Sumi as she approached his blood soaked arm. "Heh, no worries, it doesnt hurt right now..." Bear slowly lifted his hands up and looked over his body quickly, noticing a few slight gashes on his hand from Meld.
After letting out a soft laugh from the revelation of having been cut open by his best friend accidentally, Bear pats the cat on the head lightly before pulling his coat off and handing draping it over Sumis shoulders. As he does this, Captain Maxwellington begins to stumble off and Bear sighs. "What do we do about him? Should we go get him?" He looks around at the rest of the people in the group before walking up to Meld and aiming to place his hands on her arms lightly, giving her a gentle rub of the arms, Bear smiles, hoping to have been a bit of a service to his friend before looking off after Max and letting out another sigh.
"Alright... I think we should walk Captain Max back to his hotel, then we'll get Kasumi home and head to the Sanctuary... It's been a long night... I think it's bout time we head in anyways..." Bear smiles lightly, picking up his pace and giving chase to Captain Maxwellington, as he pops around the corner, he sees Max stumbling around in a pile of trash before he moves in to help steady him. "Alright man, we'll get ya home safe, I promise."
Bear shifted in his seat a moment, not really knowing how to respond to everything going on and not realizing what he had just done, he had just mutilated his own body to show someone he didnt know, his power. He then listened to Meld and Aura both go on and on about how you should be proud of your abilities and how it's a gift from nature and it's a god given then, he saw it that way. Bear didnt really know what to think anymore, his mind was racing, trying to force thoughts of being ashamed of what he was out of his head as well as trying to kill the urges to kick those thoughts out. He didnt know what to think anymore, then the talk of training, and Bear could feel his eyes light up like a kid at candy store.
"Alright..." Bear paused a moment, surprised with himself. He then quickly searched his thoughts, trying to find if he was still ashamed of himself and he heard his mother talking about the mutant problem. 'Shut up mom! You're the problem! You're the reason I am the way I am... You wouldnt be proud of me right now if you knew what I am, so I'm tired of being fake just to get your approval! I'M DONE!' Bear listened intently, waiting for a response before grinning lightly. "Alright, I want to train... I wanna learn how to fight..." Bear smiled lightly looking back and forth between the two young women before his eyes lit up again. An idea shot into his mind and he quickly pulled out his cell phone before looking up to the two young women and holding his finger up to prevent them from saying anything if they were going to.
A few numbers punched in and a send button pressed, the phone began ringing and on the other end a female voice, older, answered. "Hello?"
"Mom?" Bear spoke into the phone lightly before pressing a couple more buttons and putting the phone on speaker. He didnt know why he did it aside from the fact that he wanted Meld to know for sure who he was talking to.
"Hey sweetie! Hey Rick, it's-"
"Mom... Hold on... I got something to tell you..."
"What is it sweetie?"
"I'm a mutant..."
"....... What?"
"I'm a mutant mom... A mutant. One of those problems of yours."
"Oh honey, I'm sorry... We can get you looked at, find a way to get rid of it... We'll do whatever w-"
"Mom, it's not a problem.. And it isnt something I want gone... Goodbye mom..." And with that the phone call was ended and Bear felt ten times better about himself, yet still embarassed about calling his mother. "Now... I'm ready..."
((OOC: Sorry it took me so long, been having writers block))
"Yeah... I guess I do contradict myself... My name is Bear... Call me Bear..." He let out a sigh, looking around the park, knowing no normal human would have gotten up from a blow to the face by Abyss. "I guess I'm not too comfortable with being a mutant sometimes... I mean, I know I can hide unlike you two, I can walk around normal and people wont notice me... But, I'm afraid that they will... And I'm afraid of what's going to happen if they do..." Bear lets out a light sigh, shifting his feet around beneath him as he listens to the young girl talk.
"I guess you're right..." Bear pauses a moment and looks at the girl, not really giving it a second thought until this very moment. "KASUMI! Oh hey! I remember you, remember me? From the bar?" Bear smiled lightly, tapping on his chest, as if that'd help her remember him... "I got that gash on my arm, remember?" Bear smiles lightly, at least he was talking to someone he had already met before, aside from this Abyss character who alone had a very demanding presence. "But yeah... I dunno... The make your own herd thing... I see that's what The Order is trying to do... But all I've seen lately from them is a lot of violence and human killing sprees..." Bear cringes and braces for a hit. "I guess the reason I said the things I did, Abyss and Kasumi, is because I want to see the order make more progress than they have the past couple months." Bear sighs lightly, "I dont want to be afraid of being found out for what I am..." At that moment, the adrenaline began to wear off from Bear's anger at being hit and he drops to a knee, holding his head in his hands as the pain from the hit rushes into his head all at once, he lets out a stomach curdling scream of pain, not having realized how much it really hurt to have Abyss hit him.
Bear sighs lightly as the girl shows off her ability, it was quite an interesting thing to see someone so willingly showing what they are. Meld didnt really have a choice and Bear could hide and so could Aura, but why wasnt she, what made HER decide she was proud of her ability? Bear could understand almost for Meld, considering her ability almost causes her to NEED to be willing to accept what she is, because she could look at her hand and find out any day that she isnt normal. Bear could look at his hands and see regular flesh, but looking up his arm he could see 2 wounds, 1 almost healed, and an almost healed, un-properly, wound on his ribcage.
"Well, I guess... I get stronger..." Bear stood up out of his chair and looked around the room to make sure there were no cameras or anybody he didnt know watching. "Uhm... If I get hurt, my body reacts by making me stronger as well as, after a certain point, making it so I cant feel any pain." Bear thought about jamming his thumb into his wound but he decided it might be best simply to make another wound to kinda add to the show. "Meld, mind if I use your knife?" Bear glanced at the carving knife from before before reaching for it.
"Actually...." He paused a moment before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small, rather sharp, pocket knife. "I forgot I had bought this just in case I needed to defend myself." And defending himself could come in any form the two girls could think of, but to Bear it was simply what it looked like, a knife so he could fend off any would be attackers, not so he could cut himself, at least.... Not yet... "Alright... You wont be able to tell otherwise so first..." Bear sighs and moves over to the bed and tries to lift it, able to get one side off the ground with veritable ease but he couldnt get it much further than that.
"And now..." Bear drops his jacket onto the chair he was sitting in and pulls his sleeve up before placing the knife to his flesh and ripping back hard and fast, forcing a gash wide open on his shoulder, he lets out a groan of pain. Fighting off his urge to place his hand on the wound, the pain slowly fades and Bear looks around the room, finally able to see straight again, blood running down his arm quickly from the open wound. "Watch..." He leans down to the bed and grabs onto it, lifting it off the ground and over his head with a light smirk on his face. He then quickly puts the bed back down and sheepishly moves back to his chair and sits down, forgetting about the wound on his bicep as blood runs down his arm, coating it in a crimson color.
Bear instantly gave a smile when Meld hugged him and he returned the hug quickly before allowing her to stand up as she was cleaning her desk up quickly. "Hello, you two.. I'm Aura." With this, Bear quickly spun around to see the young woman standing behind him, he gave a quick smile to her as meld stepped forward and introduced the two as well.
"Aura Bear, Bear Aura" Bear smiled and reached out his hand to shake the girls hand, introducing himself as politely as he could. "Well, as she said, Aura, my name is Bear, it's a pleasure to meet you." Bear smiled politely, waiting for the two young women to take their seats before he found his own and sat in Melds room.
"Well, uhm... I guess I should start or something?" Bear laughed nervously, not really knowing exactly what to say or how to say it even if he could figure out what to say. His mind was full of all of the interesting things he had learned over the past few days. And he knew that something was going to happen today to change the way the rest of his life was going to go. "Well, I uh... Man, I really dont know what to say right now... So I guess I cant really start it... Someone else start.. Heh..." Bear grins lightly, looking at the two girls.
With everything currently going on in the bar, Bear heard one thing "Stand back!" He recognized the voice and didnt know what to really do or how to react but his mind told him one thing with those words. And that was to duck, so he quickly dropped his feet out from beneath him and fell to his belly, with this the purple oozing from the girl flung out to the men and Bear rolled away, hoping not to have any of that touch him for fear of it being some sort of acid that could eat at his skin and he wouldnt feel it. "Let's get out of here!" As Bear was saying this he saw Captain Max bring his arm into the air and suddenly the power went out in the Bar and Bear couldnt see anything except the light glint off of Melds feet and the forms around Captain Max.
Bear quickly jumps to his feet and looks around at the people around him before moving over to Meld and reaching his hand out for her. "We need to move people, this fight is only going to get worse and Captain Max over there is setting up our route for escape!" Bear quickly looks around the room and hopes to have his companions grab onto him in some way. "If you want to get out of here, grab my shirt or my hand or something... And we'll get moving.." With that Bear quickly moved through the bar, following the glowing arm of Captain Max before passing him up and heading out of the bar as quickly as he could.
"Alright... Did we lose anybody?" After getting outside Bear paused a moment and looked around him, hoping that everyone was able to get out with him, no matter what damage they may have done to his body or arms or hands or anything. A clawed cat could have climbed up his back on his way out and it wouldnt have mattered, a metal hand could have dug holes into his own hand and he would not have cared in the least.
((I dont care what happens to Bear in the sense of if people grab onto him on his way out or not... You can do whatever you want... As I said in the last part of my post))
"Mettaliar, I dont agree with the things they're doing in The Order currently and I want to see those things change around... I want to see mutants fighting for a cause, not just for blood... I know that's what they're doing right now... But The Order is a group I can join to get things rolling for all mutants alike. The Mansion people wont take the right kind of action which leaves The Order who are more than willing to take action but they're taking it in the wrong way..." Bear sighed lightly, listening to the last part of the mans little speech about The Order.
"Maybe one day we will Mettaliar, and I fear for both of us on that day for neither of us knows the others ability.... And as for your request... I'm going to try and do what I can... I dont know what's all going on in there right now... All I know is I need to find out more about them and their plans... The Order needs to be brought to order, they need to come together and use their hatred for humans to better society for mutants... But... That's all I'm gonna say for now... I think I've wasted enough of your time Mettaliar... It was nice meeting you and I appreciate the information a great deal." Bear smiled politely, placing a fist on his chest before extending the same arm out in a friendly handshake.
"It was nice meeting you..." After shaking hands/or not, Bear shrugged lightly and began his long trek back to the apartment. King Pharmaceuticals was within walking distance of the apartment, but that didnt mean it was a comfortable walk to get there. Bear let out a light sigh, the events of what just happened slowly sinking into his brain as he began to process everything and try to figure it all out.
Bear sighs, thinking about all of the horrible things done by The Order, but he knew there was something different about The Order now and The Order then, after all, the internet did say it was 2 years ago almost. And everyone knows things and people and organizations can change a great deal in such a time. But things could also not change at all in such a short amount of time, however Bear had hoped it was the former and not the latter. "That's not right... Injecting that girl with some serum... Then setting her loose... But how do you KNOW that the Order now is the same Order from back then... I mean, you yourself said it was 2 years ago..." Bear let a light sigh escape again as he continued to listen to the man ramble on about how The Order works towards destruction.
"Why are there actions now worse than their actions then? And what makes any thing the people at The Mansion do, any better than the things the people at The Order do. I mean, I dont know about you but good and bad is subjective to whatever the person coming up with the definition depicts good and bad are to them. I think that the Order is good, they're working for Mutant rights.. They may be doing it through violence but at least they're doing something...."
"And why do you support that Mansion so strongly? Especially without telling me what they've done for mutant rights... I havent heard anything about that... I can almost gaurantee that anything those people do will be counteracted by the Humans. The Mansionittes could do good deeds and protect people until they're blue in the face but that doesnt mean that they're going to be respected or earn mutant rights. You're right, the bad name Mutants have are from people like the ones in The Order, but The Order also has good members with amazing intentions... And you're shunning them too simply because they joined The Order?"
"I cant condone The Order doing those experiments Mettaliar... But I also can't condone the way Mutants are treated... This whole situation is a lot to think about and a lot to handle really... I dont understand why they would experiment on their own kind... But I guess there's no telling really... Maybe the people in charge were the kind of people that you wouldnt want to even sit next to on the bus for fear of being stabbed by them." Bear sighed lightly, knowing the whole conversation was probably upsetting him but he needed to know more.
Then, the answer came, he was an experiment, that must not have been fun for him, them trying to find out how much his body could take and how strong his mutation could get. That couldn't have been fun, but at the same time, things were clicking in his brain telling him that it might not have been that bad to find out at the same time. "What else happened Mettaliar... You said it just started at King Pharmaceuticals, what do you know?" Bear was far too curious for his own good.
"And you say activity is nothing is the cause is for destruction instead of peace, how could you say The Order is fighting for destruction? War usually ends in peace, history shows us this, all great periods of peace tend to follow a horrendous war. And the cycle will continue now as it has in the past, people dont learn, so... Force and Action need to be taken. The goal isnt destruction for The Order, it is, inevitably, peace... Be it just for mutants or for mutants and humans, who really knows... All I know is I'm going to fight for that peace, not have a bake sale and hope it comes around at some point."
Bear stopped in his tracks when the young man started yelling practically, he blamed The Order for everything that had been done, how could he place the blame on The Order, they actually DO something, the X's dont do anything. Bear continued listening to the man talk and his blood boiled a bit but he held his tongue, not knowing who this guy was or what he could do. Then more questions came after the revelation of experiments going on inside that place. "No I dont know what Haywire is... What is it? And as for my source of information... Uhm... I cant give his name but... He says he was there for all of this, he saw the things happening... I dont think he was experimented on though... So... What kind of experiments did they do? And what's this 'Haywire'? Is it some kind of machine or something or like a computer virus? I dont understand, why is that term relevant to the topic?"
Bear went back to the situation in his head, not really understanding what Haywire was and not even giving it a second thought that it could be a person. His mind raced with ideas, trying to come up with something, also trying to figure out why this guy knew so much and why he hated The Order so much. Then it hit him, his face lit up like a light bulb and he grinned lightly, realizing why he hated The Order so much, it all made sense. This young man was one of The Experiments, either that or he was one of the ones doing the experiments, either way he was happy he didnt give out his informants name. Now that 1 plus 1 equaled 2 in Bear's head, he could hopefully keep up with the conversation a bit better. Especially now that he had realized this young man would be very biased in his opinion of the Experiments and of The Order itself. Bear had to make sure to keep a clear head through all of it, just wanting the information, not wanting his opinion swayed.
He knew the only way to make any change in The Order, to get them to do things for the right reasons and to simply just stop massacring humans left and right, he'd have to get inside and work things from inside. He wouldnt be a mole delivering information to the people at the Mansion, but he'd be informed, he'd know what he was dealing with and who he was dealing with and he'd know how to handle situations better. Only if he gets inside and sees everything for his own eyes, information is key to winning a war, the more information you have, the better opportunity you have to do something productive. Blackmail the right people, threaten the people that can be threatened, kill the people that needed to be killed and out the people that could be outed and everything would fall into place. This tactic would work in getting things done in the order and getting things done to gain mutant rights, and eventually mutant supremacy.
Bear smiled realizing the man was following him before his smile turned into a bit of a frown as the question came. "Why are you interested in The Order?" Bear let out a light sigh, not wanting to admit his being a mutant right away but realizing he made a slip up by mentioning wanting to join The Order. He glanced over at the man before turning back forward as they continued walking.
"Well... I want to join The Order for many reasons... One of which being my best friend of more than 10 years joined the Order. She doesnt know about their inner workings and doesnt know about the things that they do... I was told a few things, namely about King Pharmaceuticals back there..." Bear sent a nod over his shoulder obviously towards KP to further his point. "I've heard about experiments on humans and mutants and I want to know if they were real... If that stuff really happened." Bear sighed lightly, thinking about Meld and how little she knew of the issue as well as how little he knew of the issue.
"I also want to join The Order because, despite what they may have done, they want Mutant Rights... And so do I... They also are going about it the only way that could really have an impact and that's by taking action... At least... They were... The people at The Mansion dont do stuff like that... They have bake sales and promote mutant and human peace and happiness through... Doing nothing?" Bear thought back to the people greeting him with platters of cookies and the pitcher of Kool-Aid in the corner somewhere, laughing lightly and shrugging to himself. He couldnt help but think of them as cultists, they were too... Happy and peaceful, it just didnt make sense.
"And if you cant tell by now, I'm wanting to join The Order because I'm a mutant myself and I want to be able to walk down the street, proudly being a mutant." Heh proudly being a mutant indeed... He just wanted to walk down the street being a mutant and not having to worry if anybody found out. "And I dont want to get spit on or hissed at or insulted because I am... The Mansion wont get me that... The Order will, it's simple as that... Take Action because it's being taken against you. People hate us and we do nothing... But The Order does..."
Bear looked back to the building and let out a sigh before smiling at the man. "Nice to meet you Mettaliar..." Bear didnt really know what to think about this young man... All he knew was he bumped into him and his name was Mettaliar and he was concerned with the way his hair looked.
>>"Yeah, they aren't very inclined to give straight answers in that place. What with it's history and all. This place has too many secrets to give away to the public. Doing so would be business suicide. Hell, come to think of it, half of the workers, maybe even more, don't even know all of the skeletons that lay in that buildings closet. It's too much for any worker there to handle, let alone anyone outside of the place."
With this, Bears eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store, he couldnt believe he just met someone that knows about what happened in KP. Or at least.... Seems like he knows something, there had to be a way to get him to spill it, so maybe... A question might help? "What do you mean? What happened in there? I've heard some stories... But I want more information... What is this place, or rather... What was this place? Please, I need to know..." Bear placed his hands on the shoulders of the man, begging him to tell him something, after a moment Bear realized he was invading the mans personal space without permission and quickly yanked his hands back to himself.
"Please... I'm thinking about... Going to the Sanctuary... And I wanna know more about their inner workings..." Bear took a couple steps back. "But I dont think we should talk about this stuff right outside King Pharmaceuticals... I bet they have cameras or something... Cmon..." Bear turned and began walking away from King Pharmaceuticals, hoping the young man was following him, almost heeding his advice in a sense. His mind was racing with thoughts and possibilities, this young man could confirm or deny everything Calley told him and he could, in turn, bring that information to Aris. Even if what he thinks is true, in Bears heart and mind, he knows he's probably still going to try and get in with The Order, working from within was always better than beating your fists on the doors.
