The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nick watched Aris closely, watching her face as she thought about what she was going to say and the way her face looked as she was saying it. He listened carefully, taking in the things she was saying and considering them but not really knowing what to do with these things. Nick sighed lightly to himself and turned to leave the alley, hoping Aris would follow, the knife in his shoulder finally visible with a glint from the lights on the street. "Nick, you're injured, you have a knife in your shoulder."
"What?" Nick turned around quickly, looking to his shoulder and letting out a sigh, realizing that that was the weapon that caused the whole inability to realize it was there. "I always hated this part of my ability..." Nick sighed lightly, pulling the knife out and looking at it for a moment, his own blood dripping slowly from the blade. He drops it to the ground and looks at his shoulder for a moment, his body is starting to calm down.
The adrenaline that was pumping because of the fight slows down and Nick's body slowly goes back to normal, his super human strength fleeting and his body beginning to feel the effects of the fight. He groans in pain before dropping to a knee, his back is throbbing, his knee is sore and his shoulder is on fire. A hand darts to the injured flesh, trying to protect it from any other injury as his hand plants on the ground. Nick doubles over, the pain from the fight flushing through his body, his mind no longer races with the previous thoughts, it only fills with the agony he's feeling from the stab wound. The splitting of muscle and flesh and the penetration in his deltoid, making it difficult for him to even attempt to move his arm.
"Let's..." Nick pauses a moment, trying to stay strong, trying not to show weakness. "Let's just keep going..." He slowly takes a breath in and forces himself to sit up, his body throbbing from the fight. "I'll... I'll be ok... Let's just get somewhere so I can get stitched up..." He tries to stand but fails, still feeling weak from the pain.
Another resume and application turned in and another shake of the head for no jobs available. Bear decided it was time to head home, to wherever home was... He took a shortcut down an alley, looking for something, who knows, the shortcut? Leading nowhere. As he was walking, he heard a few loud crashes and looked up to see a fairly large, crispy, Bengal tiger falling straight towards him. Hoping he had enough time to react Bear leapt forward only to leap under the body of the tiger. Damn misjudging distance and direction. With a thud, Bear hit the pavement, his body agonizing with pain before the pain slowly began to fade away into strength. Bear planted his hands on the pavement and pushed up hard before jerking his back, knocking the tiger off.
"What the heck?" Bear looked up at the rooftop to see 3 boys laughing and grinning at the fallen tiger. "You think it's funny to send animals off the roof?!"
"It's not really an animal dumbass! It's a mutant!" The water elemental grinned before the three boys spun on their heels and walked off across the roof, out of sight for Bear.
"A freak eh?" Bear growled to himself, the mutants are fighting each other as much as they fight humans? That's a great society to try to be a part of isnt it? Bear cocked back his foot and looked at the tiger before letting out a well aimed kick, hoping to startle the tiger back to consciousness. "Get up..."
Nick sees Aris with her hand around the throat of the thug, his heart agreeing with everything she's saying and wanting to do but his mind tells him different. Suddenly he snaps out of his stupor and runs over to Aris, grabbing her by the shoulder and pulling her away from the thug. The man drops near lifeless to the concrete in the alley and Nick looks at Aris, the fire burning in her eyes. "Let's uh... Go..." Nick goes to walk out of the alley and stops, turning around to face his old friend.
"What you said there... Is that really the way you feel about humans? I mean... Do you think it's their fault?" Nick's face turns to a blank expression as his mind races with possibilities. His parents and Aris' parents always complained about the 'Mutant Problem' never taking a second to actually try to get some information for themselves. Maybe it wasnt always the mutants starting the fights, maybe the humans were provoking them... No, it couldnt be, mutants are freaks and humans are well.... Humans. Simple as that, right? Or is it really that simple? Nick sighs lightly, shooting his gaze to Aris and looking at her a little confused, not really knowing what to think anymore.
How would Aris be now if she hadnt had to run away? Would she still be Pro-Freak, or would she be Anti-Mutant? She'd have her abilities but would she be like him, or would she be better? How would Nick be if Aris hadnt run away? Would he still be hidden? Or would he be fighting the good fight? Doing something with his life... Something more than just nothing. These are questions and thoughts that would race through the mind of any person in the position Nick was currently in. However with Nick, these thoughts were almost constantly on his mind and he could never shake them nor get the answer to the questions.
Nick growls to himself and looks at the man with the 2x4 before laughing and bringing his hands up giving him the 'bring it on' motion. The thug swings high, slamming the 2x4 into the head of Nick and Nick barely even budges, letting out another laugh. "That's all you got? Here..." Nick grabs the knife out of his shoulder and tosses it to the thug in front of him. "Use it... Go ahead...."
The man stumbles with the knife in his hand and looks at Nick, lunging forward, aiming to slit his throat but Nick ducks under the knife swipe and punches the man in the stomach, sending him flying straight up. As the man is coming down, Nick kicks forward and slams his boot into the chest of the already beaten man and sends him crashing into the brick wall behind him. Nick dusts his hands off and turns to see Aris handling herself quite well in her portion of the fight. Nick can't help but intervene when he sees the baseball bat flying at Aris and he reaches out quickly and yanks the bat away from the man and cracks it easily in half over his knee.
Nick then takes a step back and smiles and nods to Aris before allowing the fight to continue. "People should learn not to hit ladies... Especially considering the lady walking me home safely knows Martial Arts." Nick laughs lightly, watching Aris quickly dispatch of the thug. "Now... Shall we get moving again?" Nick wasn't really paying attention to himself, already having forgotten about the knife that was previously in his shoulder. His body waiting to send agony to his brain as soon as his adrenaline stops pumping.
The two continued their short hike towards the Sanctuary, mainly for observation purposes for Nick to see if he'd be ok staying at a place like the Sanctuary. "Well... I guess I can just look for a job or something... Wonder if there are any liquor stores hiring for cashiers or something... I'll have to look, but I should probably get settled somewhere before I even start doing that..." Nick sighed lightly, his eyes on a constant move, scanning his surroundings.
"Hey you!" Nick was surprised by a hand shooting out of one of the alleys and grabbing him and Aris and pulling them into the dark New York City Alley. "What're you doing walking around with something like this, boy?" A tall gangly guy with a Hoody on and a knife in hand stared at Nick while 3 more people moved in to almost corner the two.
"She's my friend, what do you think I'm doing? We're walking... And you interrupted us... So excuse us please..." Nick turned to walk away from the man and he was stopped by a hand on his chest from the guy that moved in behind them, cutting them off from the sidewalk. He flipped out a knife and pushed on Nicks shoulder, spinning him around to face the apparent leader of the group.
"I dont like your tone, boy... Maybe we should teach you and your freak her... A lesson..."
"What'd you call her?" Nick growled as he stepped forward, almost daring the thug to do something to him.
"I called her a freak..." The thug laughs and quickly yanks his hand to the side and slams the blade of the knife down into the shoulder of Nick who lets out a cry of pain before falling to a knee, holding his shoulder. "What..." The thug puts a boot to the shoulder of Nick. "Are you...." He pushes him to his back. "Going to do about it?" The thug and his goons all laugh lightly as Nick holds onto his shoulder, with the knife still in it.
"I'll show you..." Nick grabs the handle of the Knife and twists it in his shoulder sharply, pain shooting through his body before disappearing as he can feel himself getting stronger and faster. He then jumps up and grabs the leader by the throat abruptly, "Now, apologize!" As Nick says this, one of the thugs swings a 2x4 at him, slamming it into his back. Nick's body flinches only because of the impact and Nick growls before throwing the leader off down the alley, sending him slamming into a dumpster, before he turns his attention to the rest of the man that swung the 2x4 on him, hoping Aris can handle herself, almost knowing she can.
"Well, I might think about Sanctuary but I dunno... I've got some money, like I said, and I could get some kind of job doing something... I dont know why you'd have a problem getting a place though, you look great." Nick smiled lightly, not even noticing the differences to her appearance in complete honesty. "We can work something out... I'll think about Sanctuary... Maybe I should see it first before I make any decisions? I mean that'd be the best thing... Right?" Nick smiled as he stood up from his chair slowly and grabbed his belongings, strapping the duffel over his shoulder and hoisting the suitcase to his back with a couple of straps fashioned from cord.
Nick waits a few moments, helping Aris out of her chair before grabbing his drink and opening the door to the coffee shop, letting Aris lead the way to this 'Sanctuary'. "So... How long did it take you to get here from when I called? That way I know how long I have to hold in my stomach for..." Nick laughs lightly, as he sucks in his stomach dramatically, trying to 'look good' for the cute girl. Nick quickly let out his held breath with a laugh and sigh of relief before bringing his Sobe up and twisting the top off of it, taking a sip quickly. He then proceeds to replace the lid and shove it into his jacket pocket for safe keeping. "So really now... What kind of job do you think I could get out here? I mean.. I will need money to be able to do stuff right?"
"I've got enough saved up to survive for a month, maybe two if I cut back on things a bit... But longer than that and I'm gonna run out of money... So I guess I need money and I need it quick..." Nick sighed as he looked around himself on the way to the Sanctuary. He never really could tell which of the two of them was the Leader and which was the follower. Both came up with good ideas and set plans into motion and both just went with the flow as well from time to time. One day, Aris would come up with some amazing idea to go do something stupid, the next day it would be Nick's turn to pick the amazing idea to do something stupid. All Nick could really think about at this point was NOT thinking about his past or his issues with himself. He liked to keep himself occupied with life, trying to keep busy just so he didnt have time to really stop and think about anything, especially not his standing on himself or anyone else 'like' him.
"Wow, well my life hasnt been that interesting by any means at all... I'd be lying if I said I did anything really... Basically, I spent a lot of time just working and saving up money, knowing one day I'd want to get the hell out of there... And you calling me just gave me the idea that coming out here to see you was the best thing I could choose to do..." Nick smiles lightly, listening to her talk.
"Wow, you sure do sound proud of who and what you are... I wish I could be like that, I'm almost ashamed to be honest... Probably because of those past feelings we decided not to talk about..." Nick's thoughts raced again, going back to the sounds of disappointment in the voices of his parents when they talked about OTHER peoples kids being found to be mutants. He knew, because of that sound, that he didnt want to ever be found out by his family or anyone other than Aris. He kept his secret, just that, a secret ever since he found out about it. The only person that knows about it is the person that knew him best, the person that was sitting across from him at the table going on about how great it is to be with your own kind and how great it is to be a mutant. "The next evolutionary step" he heard her say.
"The next evolutionary step." It almost had a great ring to it, wait, what is Nick thinking about? He's a 'freak', not the next evolutionary step... Or was... That thought proved to be more and more pointless to the young man as he mulled it over and over in his head, not knowing where to go with it. "I might be interested in seeing this Sanctuary of yours Aris... But... I dunno if I'd be welcome there..." More like 'I dont know if I'd feel comfortable associating myself with other freaks. My only reason for even considering it is to spend time with the beautiful Aris again.' Nick sighed lightly, his mind jumbled with confusion and certainty all at the same time. He didnt know what to think or how to think it, he just knew he was supposed to think and that was supposed to be good enough.
Bear sat back in his seat and popped the cap off of his Sobe and sipped from the glass bottle slowly, taking everything in as fast as he could and to the best of his ability. He could feel her passion for Mutant Dominance and it overwhelmed him, made him consider his position in the world, he gets hurt and gets stronger as more pain is inflicted. But after a certain point the pain is no longer felt and he continues to get stronger the more damage his body takes. He could do some serious damage in a big fight with any person or persons... Wait, again, his mind racing with things that it shouldnt be racing with, he's a freak, not a Super Powered Being, a FREAK, plain and simple.
"But you know how my parents were and you know what happened before I left." Those words struck his memory banks like a lightning bolt, flashing back to listening to her parents complaining about the 'Mutant Problem' while he himself was a mutant in their home. His parents as well complained about the growing 'Mutant Problem', always, it seemed when he was in the room. Luckily though, for him, his parents had no idea, nobody had any idea what he was besides Aris herself. "You dont need to be sorry old friend... I missed you." Nick smiled lightly as he sat down in the chair across from Aris, resting back in his chair, still uncomfortably.
"So... How's life been treating you? How're you doing? What've you been up to? I want to know all of these things and more... I wish we could just go somewhere else but I guess you're right, you probably will get the stares wherever we go... It sickens me... It's like they've never seen anyone different before." Nick sighs lightly, looking around the shop and watching the people, hoping he doesnt have to pick some sort of a fight. His body always seemed tense as he was sitting in a room full of people of all sorts, all he was hoping for was for someone to hit him if something were to start.
"What's this place you're talking about? A place for people like...." He felt himself pause, not wanting to include himself in that statement but feeling like he should, especially around Aris. She was, afterall, the first and only person to know about his abilities for the most part, not including a few people with ideas. But that's all they were, ideas, he shrugged those people off and brought his mind back to the present, his eyes locked in on Aris', "us... Where would this place be? Since when did mutants begin gathering strength and union and organization? I havent heard about this back home... It was mostly "More Pandemonium" "Mutants Blah blah blame." "Mutant Pandemonium". I really gotta know more about this stuff... It's kinda interesting."
"Well Aris hun, y'know if you hadnt run away so suddenly we wouldnt have had to wait this long." Nick grinned lightly, jabbing her playfully in the side. "It has been way to long though, we should have gotten together much sooner but I guess now is better than never, right?" Nick smiled lightly, pulling out a chair at the table he was sitting at. After helping Aris into her seat like the usual gentlemen he was with her back when they were best friends, he moves over to his chair and sits down slowly before shooting back up. "Do you want anything to eat or drink? I'll buy..." Bear smiles, pointing back to the counter where the clerks were standing looking at Aris oddly.
Nick catches the gaze of the clerks at the desk and notices they're staring at his old friend, his blood boils under his skin and he growls lightly under is breath, not knowing what he should do in the current instance. His mind began racing with the thoughts of how she must've been treated in the time they've been apart, the looks she must have gotten and the downright insults from the more ignorant people in the area. His blood continued to boil, knowing he wasnt there to defend her. He was just like her, but he had the perk of being able to hide himself because he had no body altering affects from his ability.
These thoughts then formed into thoughts of him actually being a mutant as well and he growled lightly to himself, not wanting to fully acknowledge his ability. He sighs lightly to himself, not really knowing what to think anymore before glancing back at Aris, "Well a drink or food? Or would you rather go somewhere else?" Nick smiles lightly, not wanting to let Aris know about his inner turmoil from the thoughts he had just been having.
A long bus ride in from Vancouver finally ends at it's destination and the destination of many passengers. Many people get off the bus slowly, stretching their legs and looking around for loved ones, one in particular, a rather large male with long brown hair, green/blue eyes and a trench coat, steps out of the bus, not even looking for anything. He walks to the baggage compartment and pulls out a duffel bag and a suitcase, strapping either on himself and turning on his heal to walk away from the bus.
The man begins his purposeful strides through the streets of New York, heading to anywhere other than the bus and his former home. He pulls a small cellular device out of his pocket and unfolds it, punching in a series of numbers before holding the phone to his ear after pressing send. *Ring ring!* "Yeah... Hey Aris, it's Nick... How's it going? Yeah... I'm in New York now... We should meet up, especially considering I dont know my foot from my hand in this place." Bear pauses a moment, listening to the other end. "Yeah, alright, I'll get directions... The Starbucks on 39th and Jackson... Got it... I'll see you there soon."
Bear clicks the phone closed and looks around for anyone that doesnt look like an idiot. He catches one man that seems to have an air about him and gets directions to said Starbucks before thanking him and heading off in the direction he was pointed. Walking in New York City wasn't too different from walking in Vancouver except the fact that he had no idea where he was or where he was going. Bear just kept to himself the entire journey to the Cult House known as Starbucks. Some time later, he could finally see the Starbucks sign down one of the streets and let out a relieved sigh, thanking the directions he got repeatedly in his head.
Once inside, Bear didnt get many looks besides the usual curious customers wondering who's coming into their safe haven and the obvious clerk at the counter. "Can I get you something?" Bear looks up at the menu a moment.
"You dont got anything other than that crap? Gah... Uhm..." He looks around the shop quickly before noticing a little drink bar and grabbing a Sobe Energy Drink. "I'll take this..."
"That'll be $2." The clerk punches a few buttons on the register and Bear hands him the money before walking away without change or a receipt and sitting down at a seat near the window and door, always wanting to have some kind of escape route if need be. Now, the wait, hopefully only a short one though. Bear sat back in his seat uncomfortably and watched outside, waiting for his long lost friend to show up.

Character
Personality: (How you character behaves, social tendencies, quirks, etc.) Bear has a need to be accepted, he doesnt like the fact that he's a mutant but as he continues to live his life, he's realizing that he'll never be fully accepted by anyone. Mutations
Mutation description: Bear has the ability to block out pain and turn it into physical attributes, helping him to get stronger and more durable. With this power, Bear also feels no pain after the process has started but continues to get stronger. Pain causes Bear's ability to begin but as soon as his adrenaline level lowers, after a fight, he can feel the pain again.
Strengths: Added physical endurance and strength, no pain felt when fighting.
Weaknesses: His physical attributes only increase from physical pain/damage to his body, also, he feels no pain during the fight. Thusly causing a problem in and of itself because when he goes back to normal, the damage is already done and he could very well die. Also, another obvious downside is simply that it takes physical pain for Bear’s ability to even begin to manifest.
Secondary mutation description: (if applicable) This mutation should be linked or make sense with your first mutation. You don't need a second mutation, but you can develop one later on with moderator approval.
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Fighting Style (if applicable) Street/Power

Pros for fighting style: Can adapt to any kind of fight
Cons for fighting style: No specific form and will get beat in a skill vs skill fight if powers are negated

History Of Your Character:
Bear grew up, known to his friends and family as Max, he only developed the nickname 'Bear' later in life. As he was a child, growing up in Vancouver, BC, Canada, he had a fairly simple life. Playing outside with his best friend at the time, Aris Callin. They did everything together from exploring any nearby stream or strange place to just hanging out and watching TV or movies or playing videogames. Bear didnt discover his abilities until halfway through High School at about the age of 15, he got into a fight one day when Aris was being harrassed by a group of school bullies. He, being her close friend, decided enough was enough and walked in, trying to stop the onslaught of terms. The bullies, being bullies, turned their attention to Bear, pushing him and telling him to mind his own business, out of haste and instinct, Bear swung hard for the jaw of one of the kids, the kid laughed and a beatdown ensued. Aris tried to get in to stop the fight but she was pushed back hard by one of the boys and ran off as fast as possible to find someone to help her friend.
At this point, Bear kicked at one of the boys and sent him flying backwards, unknowing of the pain he should be feeling or the reason he's so strong, Bear swung hard again, hitting the same kid in the jaw, and toppling him like a house of cards. The fight didnt last long with Bear easily disposing of the 4 bullies who were previously harrassing his best friend. Fights end, Bear stood up, blood running from his nose and various cuts on his body, not feeling any pain and not wanting to get in trouble for the fight that just took place. As he stepped to run away from the devastation, his body suddenly rushed with pain and immobilization, causing him to drop to the ground in agony, not knowing what was going on. By the time Aris had gotten to where the fight took place, and where now was filled with devastation, all her and her help found was 5 bodies on the ground and only one beaten and bloody. A gasp escaped her lips and she ran to the aid of her friend who was shaking from the pain he was feeling and comforted him like a good friend would while paramedics were being called.
After that moment, Bear had a weird feeling that something was wrong with him and he decided to try to figure out what... So he went about finding out what it was, one day while stewing over the subject for hours in his room by himself. Bear, upset, slammed his fist into the wall, not making a dent in it's paint covered sheetrock. The pain shot through his hand for a moment before dispersing quickly, Bear punched the wall again and this time very little pain was felt. He thought on this for a moment before punching the wall as hard as he could, and where typically his hand would be throbbing and he would be in a great deal of pain, he felt nothing despite having put a hole in the wall itself. After a few minutes passed, his hand was suddenly enflamed from the previous punches and he decided he needed to test this out even further. Test after test, eventually Bear realized that pain caused him to get stronger and he could block out said pain after a certain point, allowing him to continue as long as his adrenaline was pumping.
After his discovery and his further examining of this ability, Bear went directly to Aris and told her what he found out, at first she seemed to not know what to think but after a while, she began to believe him for some reason. The two continued to be inseperable throughout High School, Bear had the one person in his world that he knew wouldnt think he was crazy and Aris, well, he didnt know why Aris stuck with him. After High School, Aris and Bear remained friends and kept in touch and hung out as much as they could before the incident with her sister. After that point, she ran away from home and Bear lost contact with her for a while, until one day he got an odd phone call from her, letting him know she was alright, the two discussed things for a bit and Bear found out his long time friend was just like him, a freak(in his mind). Time went on, the two kept in contact as much as they could with Bear simply living a "normal" life in Canada. His nickname was given to him by a coworker of his at a Gas Station when he was 20. After a while, he got tired of being alone, like he usually was, and decided he should go and find Aris in New York City. With no plans and enough money to get to New York and surive for a month or so, Bear packed his bags and any important belonging he had and could carry, and moved to New York City.

"Where the heck is she? I've looked everywhere for her... Maybe I should just let her find me..." A tall man sighs lightly as he trudges through the alleys in New York City, he wears a long Black Trench Coat, blue jeans and a plain white T-Shirt. Hands in his pockets, the man slowly emerges from the Alleyway and walks out onto a busy sidewalk in the middle of the day. Another sigh escapes his lips as he walks down the sidewalk, spotting a Liquor store and walking in slowly, the man behind the counter eyes him suspiciously as he walks around to the area where the liquid refreshment was kept. As Bear was trying to decide what to get to drink, a voice echoes into his ears from the front of the store.
"Gimme all your money!" Bear turns around quickly to see a man holding a knife at the cashier behind the counter. Bear sighs again and grabs a bottle of Mountain Dew from the cooler and walks up to the front.
"How much for this?" Bear holds out the soda.
"Man, you got a deathwish?" The guy spins around, holding the knife up to Bear.
"No, I just want to buy this soda.. Now, how much?" Bear looks past the knife wielding man to the cashier who doesnt answer. "So... I can just walk out with this soda without paying? Is that what you're telling me?"
"Man, just get the hell out of here!"
"Hey, I'm trying to ask the man a question, this is his store, not yours..." Bear growls lightly with his words before turning back to the cashier waiting for an answer.
"Screw this!" The knife wielder quickly cocks back a fist and punches Bear in the jaw hard. Bear's head shoots back and he rubs his jaw in agony as he feels himself getting stronger.
"Dont do that..." Bear rubs his jaw a bit more while looking at the attempted robber with disdain.
"What? This?" The robber swings again, hitting Bear again in the jaw and Bear rubs his jaw lightly, the pain dulled now as his strength grows moreso.
"You stupid piece of crap..." Bear growls lightly. The robber laughs in his face and stabs him in the arm, trying to scare him off but Bear doesnt budge, his body blocking out the pain as he grabs the man by the throat and lifts him off his feet with ease. Bear then tosses the man out of the store and turns back to the cashier, "How much?"
"Just take it and go..." The cashier frantically ducks under the counter.
