The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"Tell you what, I was getting bored anyway. I think you had the right idea."
Astrid almost couldn't believe her ears. Or her eyes, for that matter, as the creature flicked a chunk of marble off the roof and crushed a few META bots with it. The girl's throat went dry. She had thought that he would be annoyed by her or think she was just some punny child in his way. But now he was... Following her lead? Was that a compliment? Astrid couldn't really remember ever recieving a compliment.
Excitement welled up in her gut as she watched the creature's ferocious display. He was truly incredible; like nothing she had ever witnessed. Plus, he was actually acknowledging her existence. It felt like a dream, a fairytale reserved for only the luckiest of souls. Astrid felt honoured to even be in his presence.
>>"Come on, then."
Astrid cracked a smile that was so unlike the few she had let herself express in the last while. It wasn't vindictive or malicious in any way. It was... Happy? Gleeful could even be a good descriptor. It streched her face awkwardly, but she didn't mind.
She followed closely behind the creature as soared off of the rooftop with her feathered wings. It was difficult to avoid the flying darts everywhere, so she was forced to land on the pavement in order to shift her wings to crystal form. Using one as an awkward shield and the other as a weapon, she walked forwards into the crowd of police officers.
Her one wing blocked the majority of the darts in her direction, but one slipped through her defences. It narrowly missed her arm, leaving a thin cut along the side of her pale flesh. She cursed under her breath, furrowing her brow at the shooter.
Her free wing beat harshly behind her, almost knocking her off of her feet. After a few pumps, she let the bottom row of crystals fly. They made contact with two META bots, and hit one officer in the stomach. It was the most successful hit that Astrid had ever produced, and it caused her gleeful grin to return, somehow even bigger than before.
"We are doing well?" She addressed the creature for validation. It wasn't that she wanted to be commended for her hit, it was just... Well, she wanted to be commended for her hit. Desperately.

The bratty little girl was licking Astrid's hand. Licking it. Astrid recoiled immediately, shaking off her pale appendage with an extreme vigour. It felt sort of cold as the cool air brushed across the wet portion of her skin.
Astrid balled her hands into fists and placed one on either hip. Her black eyes fell on Abby in an intense glare, doing her best to make her regret her actions. Would she have rather have been caught or had the stupid little maid get a little scared. She simply couldn't understand some people. Especially since she had been nothing but helpful, something Astrid generally wasn't, to this little girl. No good deed goes unpunished, right?
She shook out her head of tangled black hair with a huff and looked at the little girl. They had two options: wait for the authorities that the stupid maid had probably called, or leave before they could be ambushed. Of course, Astrid would normally opt for option number one, but she wasn't sure that the little girl would be able to hold herself in a fight. And, for some reason that escaped her, Astrid was being nice to her. It was a strange feeling.
"We are leave now," Astrid announced and walked quickly out of the bathroom to grab her things. She expected that Abby would follow her, and didn't bother to look back to check.

>><Are you CRAZY?>
Well the intimidation tactic had obviously been successful. Astrid smirked as she let the bottom row of crystals fly. They embedded in the car with a horrible sound that echoed down the streets of the park. People turned to look, a few of them letting off a shocked gasp. <Maybe a little,> she informed him, her voice eerily calm.
She stepped forward shakily, the crystals on her wings weighing her down considerably. Her eyes scanned the park, looking for her target. She knew full well that he was behind a parked car, but she didn't him to know that. There was no way that she would be able to get a good shot in if he didn't move, so she needed him to feel secure enough to move from behind the obstacle.
She needed... Something to coax him out. Her black eyes moved across the pavement to... Was that? It was. The stupid little velcro wallet that the boy had been carrying was lying on the ground, just waiting for Astrid to come pick it up.
She moved awkwardly toward it and bent down to pick it up, thrown slightly off balance by the weight on her back. She turned back to the boy, her smile having somehow widened. <This is yours?> It was more of a statement than a question. The velcro sounded loudly as she pried it open, <let's see what's inside, shall we?>

Astrid kept her eyes on the door and her hand clamped over the little girl's mouth as she waited for the housekeeper to enter. If she had been thinking straight, she would have just picked the girl up and flown out the window. But instead, she had panicked and they were stuck.
The housekeeper was quiet for the most part, except when she found the makeup and hair supplies on the bedside table. Technically, the room was supposed to be empty. There was silence for a few seconds as Astrid watched her look at the stuff through a little crack in the door.
"Is someone in here?" The housekeeper ask in a shaky voice. Her hand hovered over the phone next to the supplies before she turned around. She stepped forwards and pushed open the bathroom door, letting a gasp escape her mouth.
"Leave," Astrid hissed at her, ready to fire crystals of she refused. The scene would look rather odd to the housekeeper; a mutant girl holding a younger girl captive. If it hadn't been for the threat of violence, she probably would have screamed as loudly as she could manage.

Astrid held her breath as the creature turned to her, and then as its eyes followed her crystals. Her heart sank as it - or rather he - sounded annoyed.
"You shouldn't do that,If you attack them directly, then they have a reason to attack us. And hurting a police officer is very different from hurting a regular civilian. They're quite vengeful against those who have hurt their own, you know."
"Oh," Astrid said quietly and bowed her head. As much as she liked to pretend that she was confident and had everything together, she really didn't. Being a villain wasn't as easy as it was in the movies. She couldn't quite understand what he was trying to do with his attack, though. Wasn't death and destruction the point of the attack? She had thought that by helping him do that she would be aiding in a good way. It seemed she was wrong. Astrid did her best to keep her expression neutral as she watched the police react to the crystals.
Her stomach sunk further into the deep pits of her gut as she watched META bots be released. She had really screwed things up for his attack.
"Now look what you've done."
The crystals on the young girl's wings hit against each other as they lost their formerly proud, puffed out appearance. "Sorry," Astrid said quietly. As soon as the word passed her lips, she instantly regretted it. Evil people didn't apologize... Or did they? It was hard to know anymore. Everything that she had thought she knew about what she wanted to be seemed to be called into question. What did she know, really?
Unsure of what to do next or how to react, Astrid simply watched the META bots come closer. Her eyes turned back to the creature, locked on how he would react. He seemed to be the most evil thing that Astrid had ever had the chance to meet, so surely he would know what to do, wouldn't he?

>>"Mature?"
"Yes, mature," Astrid looked rather pleased as the little girl supplied her with the word she had been searching for. The girl did look more mature. At least, Astrid assumed she did, since she wasn't entirely sure she had the right meaning of it in her head.
A knock sounded behind them on the door. For a second, Astrid froze. It was likely room service. As her breath caught in her throat, Astrid instictively reached out and clamped her hand over Abby's mouth, dragging her out of sight and into the bathroom.
"Quiet," she warned the little girl in a whisper as she covered them with the shower curtain. She changed her wings to crystal form and got ready to attack if necessary.

Ever since her run in with the princess girl in the park, Astrid's life in New York had been a little different. During the days, when she used to spend her time busking, she had turned to robbing little stores and stands in order to keep herself fed and feel like she was doing enough to still be seen as evil. However, she had to mostly stay out of crowded areas and public spaces. Police warrants were tricky like that; everyone was keeping a wary eye out. While she did like her newfound reputation, it did make it more difficult to go outside during the day or to play music like she used to. She supposed that was likely the trade off of being a villain.
The nighttime had become her new stomping ground. When most people were asleep, she found that it was easier to pass through the low-lives that frequented the streets in the dark. It was also much easier to steal things due to her fashion sense and hair colour. If she covered up as much skin as she could manage, she could usually go most places undetected and unnoticed.
That night, she had just stolen a box of pizza from a man walking down the street. It had been simple, really. Once she had shown a little bit of force, he had dropped the box and ran. She then flew up to the top of a tall building and ate her plunder. From her perch, she had a great view of the courthouse. Little did she know just how helpful that would be.
It was difficult to comprehend what exactly she was watchng in front of her. It was beautiful, really. It was the best worst thing she had ever seen. Something - she wasn't entirely sure what - was destroying the courthouse. While Astrid had considered many angles of the nature of evil, she had never really thought about how threatening the destruction of property could look.
The police had gathered just below the courthouse and were aiming their guns at the creature. In turn, the creature pushed a large chunck of the marble material off the side at them. It was glorious.
Astrid knew that above all things, she wanted to be associated with the creature in front of her. Perhaps if she got close enough, people would even assume that she had been a part of the attack. Her plan of action came to mind immediately.
Standing up on the ledge, the winged mutant abandoned her pizza and flew across the road to where the scene was going down. She landed just behind the creature, sure that the police and the cameras would be able to get a good view of her.
While she had been incredibly confident on her way over, once landed, Astrid wasn't entirely sure what to do. Should she talk to the creature? What could she even say to something that incredible? For the first time ever, her lack of English felt embarrassing rather than just an inconvenience.
So, instead of saying anying, she simply changed her wings over and shot some crystals at the police. Her heart was beating a mile a minute, hoping desperately that the creature would take her seriously.

A hotdog cart had been completely abandoned during the chaos that had taken place only moments before. Astrid had stopped by it, grabbed a hotdog, and flew off. Then, she flew to a rather tall building and sat on the ledge as she ate.
Princess girl was getting into a car with some adult. Astrid scoffed at the scene. She would probably go home and call 'Daddy' or someone to throw money at the problem. She almost laughed out loud at the thought. She hadn't spent much time around rich people, but she could imagine how awful it would be. Especially with princess girl.
After finishing her hotdog and feeling rather satisfied with herself, she took out the necklace. She wasn't particularly fond of it, but it could have been worth something. God knew she needed the money, especially since busking could no longer be a viable source of money. She was far too recognizable. Perhaps she would give that weird man from the bar a call... Or maybe just look around for a while... There had to be somewhere that suited her morals in all of New York, didn't there?

Aggravating little princess girl got off scot-free. Of course she did; life served the perfect. Astrid's face twisted in anger as she watched the META bot pass over her. Maybe she could... No, it wasn't worth it.
What was worth it was getting her screen time. The news cameras had already begun to gather, and one was being set up to film her arrest. A bot on her left was getting ready to put the cuffs on, which was far too early. Astrid swung her wrists away, dodging its attempts to cuff her. The faulty bot - the one that had scanned princess girl - raised its gun to her level. The girl smirked. That was just what she needed.
She began to flap her wings again, gaining speed in order to shoot it. Several of the other bots tried to restrain her, and the faulty one fired. The bullet ricocheted off her wing and flew through the air, in the direction of the crowd.
Screams erupted from the group of bystanders. A man clutched his chest, his hand covered in blood as he fell to the ground.
Yes, Astrid grinned at the ensuing chaos. It was perfect. It looked like the work of a true villain. She stepped forward through the mess of distracted people and made sure the cameras got a good look at her as she shot a row of crystals at the META bots. A few made their target, and a few disappeared into the crowd. It was difficult to see whether or not anyone was hit.
Astrid knew she only had a small window of time to get away. Soon the police would bring in reinforcements and she would be taken down. She also knew there was no going back. Busking was going to be difficult from then on out.
Her wings transformed back to their natural feathered state, rendering her defenceless. She took off, flying towards a tall tree from where she could still watch the people below suffer the affects of her actions.

Little princess girl had started to cry. It wasn't an attention cry, either. She was really crying. At first, they looked like fearful tears, but then her expression changed. Princess' eyes seemed focused on the street behind Astrid and the lights and sirens coming from it. Of course they were in a part of the park with street access. Of course.
Astrid turned around to face the cop cars that had gathered around them. Who had even called the police? The worst thing Astrid had done was steal a necklace; a petty theft that they couldn't arrest a minor for. At worst, she would receive a slap on the wrist and be told to give it back.
Then, she realized how the situation looked. Although no one had been injured, it probably looked as if she had caused some harm. Likely someone had called out of fear for their safety. Which meant there would be META bots.
The police unloaded and kept their eyes on Astrid the entire time. From what she could see, there were about four or five METAs with them. It was strange; Astrid had only ever seen them on the news before. She felt sort of honoured that they had been called on her behalf.
"Put your hands in the air and don't move!" A police officer yelled to her.
Astrid froze. Should she run? Should she fight? Should she just give in? She couldn't decide which would have a better outcome. On one hand, running would make her look dangerous, and there was no chance of being arrested. But if she were arrested, she could make a whole show about busting out. But what if she couldn't get out? Whatever she chose, there always seemed to be pros and cons. What she did realize, though, was that if the meeting was publicized, it might help someone notice her. So, she needed as much screen time as possible.
After a few seconds, she stood still in front of the police with her hands in the air. On her face was a smirk. She was going to find a way to use the situation to her advantage.
The META bots circled around her and the crowd. Three of the five seemed normal, like they did on the news. The other two, however, seemed sort of odd. Their movements were less precise, and one of them was scanning the crowd instead of dealing with her.
Astrid smirked. If the glitchy bot was scanning the crowd, that meant that the princess was in trouble. Calling the police had really worked in her favour.

As much as it frustrated Astrid that she missed her target, it had been an excellent scare-tactic. The princess ducked for cover under a nearby bench, breaking a street lamp in the process. It was interesting; the girl hadn't struck Astrid as a mutant, but she supposed that everyone had their secrets. And to think, she was calling her a freak.
Freak.
Or, as it was in French, une fille bizzare.
It was a phrase that had followed Astrid from place to place, country to country. It seemed to be a common word that people resorted to in times of fear. It was a word that people used when they couldn't think of any others. When they were at the end of their vocabulary. In truth, Astrid sort of liked the title. It made people uneasy. Especially when it was coupled with the bitterness and hatred in the princess' voice.
The young mutant puffed out her chest a little as she looked over the forming crowd that the princess had joined. Everyone's eyes were on her, watching what she would do next. Astrid's eyes fixated on the girl that had caused the trouble in the first place. The girl that now appeared to be filming her.
Astrid mustered up her toothiest, most menacing grin, and gave the camera a little wave. She even turned a little so that the girl would get a better view of her wings and how they reflected the harsh sunlight. It was time that the world saw her in her true glory. She was no longer just robbing stores or stealing ice cream. No, now she was terrorizing Central Park. Perhaps it had been worth it to go out so early.
After giving the crowd a good, long moment to take in the scene, she addressed them. "What wrong," she cooed, trying her best to form an entire sentence, "never seeing mutant? You are scared? Scared is right." Cue even wider grin.

Princess girl was sassy when she was mad. It almost made Astrid hate her a little less. Emphasis on the almost. She studied the blonde as she turned to leave, examining her phone for damage as she went. The girl was really attached to the thing. She held it up in front of her and opened it to... Was she taking a picture? God, she was narcissistic. Unless...
Astrid's face hardened as she realized the girl was trying to get her in the frame. She had no right to take a picture of her! That right was reserved for... Astrid didn't have answer, but it certainly wasn't the little blonde princess.
Her wings changed from black feathers to transparent crystals, making small noises as they did. Astrid's brow furrowed as she concentrated on the girl. She gained speed behind them with a couple of flaps towards her back. She released a row of crystals aimed towards the girl on a large one.
The row flew forwards, the one on the end hitting the side of the princess' phone. Astrid cursed under her breath, having meant to hit the phone dead on. Instead, it hit the side and took a chunk out of the sparkly case. The phone, however, was fine. The rest of the crystals hit a nearby newspaper stand, burying themselves in some magazines.
"This a warning," Astrid told her gravely, trying to cover her mistake.
