Everyday clothing style: Astrid greatly enjoys to experiment with fashion. Due to her un-pigmented skin, she burns very easily in sunlight. So, she often wears longs clothes and long sleeves. Lately, she has mostly been sticking to all black, floofy dresses, tights and heels. This style of dress also helps her to get away with her strange appearance, as many people assume that it might just be an elaborate get-up.
Uniform:
Sleepwear: Whatever she has on at the time.
Miscellaneous clothing: Astrid always wears insanely high heels which make it difficult for her to walk, and she tends to wear heavy jewelry (always black).
Character
Personality: Astrid desperately wants to be taken seriously as a villain. However, she is a rather angsty teen and often tries way too hard to achieve her desired affect. She dresses in ways that she believes makes her look menacing and will try to seem aloof even if she really isn't.
If she's impressed by someone or something, Astrid's demeanour instantly changes. She shifts roles from the self-sufficient teen to a needy underling, and will follow whoever she's deemed to be her superior. It isn't actually difficult to fall into this category in Astrid's mind - a murder or explosion or two would do the trick nicely.
Astrid isn't quite as evil as she wants to be, but she's working on it. REALLY working on it. Most of her time is spent plotting things and coming up with things to say that might make her look cool, and she's constantly concerned with her appearance.
Astrid speaks awkwardly in broken English and has a thick French accent (
reference). This can make for trouble trying to get her point across and difficulty with communication. She also has trouble understanding large words, and will occasionally mistake words and phrases.
Hobbies/ Interests: Playing cello, scaring children, watching crimes, thievery.
Job or part time job and description: None at the moment.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Astrid has a very weak psyche and is very susceptible to mind control as well as being easily swayed in her loyalties. She is terrified of being seen as weak by anyone of importance, and is afraid that others won't respect her. She is also claustrophobic.
Special talents: Excellent cellist; very flexible and adept at yoga.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Chaotic evil. Astrid desperately wants to be taken seriously as a real bad-guy, so she tries to associate with anyone that will gain her some credit. However, her loyalties lie with whoever is the most powerful.
Mutations
Mutation description: Astrid has huge black wings that jut from her back, along her shoulder blades. When in feathered form, they are pure black and she has the ability to fly. Her wingspan is about ten metres.
Her wings also have a second form. At will, she can change her wings to a pure crystal structure, similar to this:
While her wings are in this form, she can shoot crystals (about as far as visual range, sometimes further if she can get a lot of power behind the shot) at will when she gains some force behind them. The crystals are incredibly sharp and are nearly unbreakable. However, the crystal form is very heavy and she is unable to fly or move quickly while her wings are in that form. As a result, she only uses it when necessary and when she does she is very susceptible to attacks.
When shot off, the crystals appear like long, sharp, clear objects. The bottom most ones are about half a foot in length, and they decrease in size by about a quarter inch per row.
Since her crystals shoot off of her wings, she can eventually run out. While in feathered form, her wings can regenerate the feathers, but it takes about an hour per row. While in crystal form, they do not regenerate at all, so if she shoots them all off, she will have no ammo and no feathers to be able to fly.
Strengths:Astrid is a very good flier, and as long as her wings are not in crystal form, she can get away very quickly. Her body is also incredibly lithe and made for stealth.
She can also use her wings, while in crystal form, as shields. They can cover the majority of her body, save for the bottom of her legs, as well as by being able to block things for another person if she chooses to cover them.
Weaknesses and limitations:When her wings are in crystal form, they are incredibly heavy and weigh her down. She becomes tired very easily due to the weight and has trouble avoiding attacks. Astrid cannot fly when her wings are in crystal form.
When the crystals on her wings brush against each other, they make a great deal of noise. This makes it very difficult for her to be stealthy or move without someone noticing.
When shooting her crystals, she does not have an incredible amount of control over them. The entire bottom row of crystals shoots all at the same time and she has very little aim, so pinpoint shots are almost impossible.
Power growth: (06/06/2017)
Astrid is now able to shift her entire body to crystal. Her body shifts just as it was the second before (hair position, etc.). Clothes and other materials do not shift with her. Shifting takes no toll on her body.
Just like her wings, the crystal is about the same toughness as steel, but slightly lighter. It is nearly unbreakable except by extremely sharp steel, steel bullets at point-blank range, or something that is able to cut through steel. Even then, they will only be able to crack it.
Astrid looks every similar to this when shifted:
Strengths:- Near invulnerability. Other than point blank shots by steel bullets, forceful blows with steel blades, or things that are able to cut through steel, Astrid’s crystal form is unbreakable. Bullets made with lead will not affect her. All of her internal organs are shifted as well, so poisons, fire, and other forces have no effect on her. She does not need to breathe in this form.
- Moderately increased strength. In order to account for the extra weight being put on her body, she is slightly stronger in her crystal form but only enough to account for the added weight. Punches and other blows will have the same strength behind them as in her human form, but they will hurt a lot more.
- Sharp edges. Edges and points of her body (like fingers, toes, eyelashes, hair, etc.) are sharpened like her wings. They are razor sharp.
Weaknesses and Limitations:- Decreased flexibility, stamina, and speed. Astrid is slower, less dexterous and more easily tired in this form. She will only last a few minutes in an intense fight in this form before she has to rest. Even when doing nothing, she will become very tired after being in this form for twenty minutes or more. Frequent shifts back will prevent this from happening.
- Increased metabolism. In order for her body to keep up with the changes and extra weight put on her muscles, Astrid must eat more than the average person of her size. Each time she shifts into her crystal form for a minute or more, she must add 500 calories to her diet, or she will face the effects of extreme hunger. In severe cases, she can starve if not eating properly.
- Shifting is semi-selective. Astrid can shift only her wings to her crystal form, but not her body. She must first shift her wings and then her body.
- Sharpened edges. Sharp fingers and other body parts are tough on clothes and shoes.
- Maximum temperature. The maximum temperature Astrid can withstand is around 3000˚C, which is the boiling point of her crystal. Anything after 2000˚C will be uncomfortable for her.
- Cracked form. If Astrid’s crystal form is cracked, then it can easily be broken. Even one crack in the surface can cause her entire form to lose integrity and shatter, meaning Astrid would die. She can still shift into her crystal form when it is cracked, but it is dangerous to do so. If she refrains from shifting for two days, the form will heal itself. Each time she shifts when it’s cracked, she adds another twelve hours to the healing time.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Strength: A little weaker than someone of her age and size.
Speed: When her wings are in feathered form, incredibly fast and lithe. When her wings are in crystal form, very slow and awkward.
Reflexes: Excellent.
Stamina: Good, although she complains more than necessary.
Flexibility: Excellent.
Fighting Style: Astrid tends to fight by shooting crystals or simply grabbing one or two in order to stab someone at a close distance. This works most of the time, but she can also hold her own in hand-to-hand combat, as long as it isn't too intense.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Without her wings, Astrid is at a great disadvantage due to her strength and size. Also, she can only use her crystal wings while on the ground. While in the air, she is essentially defenceless.
History Of Your Character
Astrid's mutant powers were evident from birth, given her strange appearance and the wings protruding from her back. She was born in a small town in France to incredibly religious parents. They took her appearance as a sign that they had done something wrong to deserve her, and subsequently left her in a nearby forest.
However, her cries were heard by a man travelling nearby, and he found her and cared for her until he found somewhere else for her to stay. He named her "Astrid", meaning divine strength, because she survived a night in the cold when she should have died.
The man eventually brought her to the government, where she spent most of her childhood in and out of foster homes and orphanages. She grew up angry and resentful, and often took it out on the other children, torturing them with cruel pranks and tricks. Eventually, a group of other children tricked her into spending a night out in the woods alone, where she finally snapped and decided to run away.
Astrid found herself a teen alone in the world. This caused her to become bitter and angry at other people, and she decided that she wanted to make others pay. She found herself drawn to the idea that she was a "Valkyrie", a mythological woman that rode into battle and chose who survived. Of course, her opinion was that no one deserved to survive.
After travelling around for a while, Astrid found herself in New York City, a place renowned for its high violence levels and people from every walk of life. However, when she got there, she remembered that she was fourteen and had no money, which meant that she would be spending some time on the streets. Unwilling to settle for anything less than comfort, Astrid began to break into different hotel rooms each night through the windows. She taught herself English, although poorly, and has been making a meagre amount of money by busking in the subways with a cello which she very proudly stole.

Sample RP:Astrid hadn't been planning on going outside that day. No, it was forecasted to be sunny out, which meant layers of sunscreen and clothing over her pale skin. She had planned to stay inside as much as possible that day, taking up her usual spot in the subway station by a poster for some kind of perfume.
Standing up off the large bed in the middle of the room, she shook off her long, bony limbs and rolled out the kinks in her wings. She didn't look like someone making barely fourteen dollars a day. Other than her weight, of course, but that couldn't be helped. Astrid made good and sure of that. Her appearance was always impeccable. After all, the best way to instil fear in the hearts of your enemies is through the eyes.
Cello case in hand, she lifted open the window and flew out. It was well before dawn, but she couldn't risk being caught by any early-morning room cleaners. So, as usual, she cleared out early.
She soared over the streets of the city, watching the people below her stifle yawns as they beat the morning traffic to their dead-end jobs. She almost pitied them. Almost.
She landed outside of her usual subway station and walked down the stairs, ignoring everyone and anything else. She walked inside and took a seat along a ledge. She turned around just for a second as she heard a strange noise behind her. When she turned back, her cello was gone.
"Hey!" Astrid called out and looked around for the culprit. A man was walking away at an alarming pace. He turned when she called and began to walk quicker.
She flew above the crowd, but he had already run up the stairs. In just a few flaps of her wings, she had joined him outside. Her eyes scanned the crowd and eventually fell on the man.
"Hey, you!" She yelled again. Her next word escaped her. Arret? No, that was the French word for it. Her eyes rested on a big red sign and found it. "Stop!"
She had almost caught up with him, so she decided to land. Her wings changed automatically to her crystal form. She pumped them strongly, her back arching slightly under the pressure. Several crystals flew towards the man, making contact with his legs. A few stray crystals made contact with some bystanders, who turned back in shock.
The man tumbled towards the ground, crying out in pain. Astrid stepped forwards triumphantly and reclaimed her cello from his hand. A crowd had gathered around her, shocked looks covering their faces. Astrid smiled devilishly as they took out their phones. They were scared of her. Really and truly scared. It was a wonderful feeling.
She walked proudly into the crowd, her chest puffed out slightly. She was definitely going to have to find a new spot to play.
