The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A nice layer of sweat was on his brow now and more falling down his bare back as he threw another punch then brought it up to guard the ice around his limbs almost glowed in the very early morning sun. ”Didn’t wake you did I?” Sam asked as he ducked an incoming blow sidestepped then brought his foot to an imaginary knee. He knew he was being quite and unless she developed superhuman hearing there was another reason she was up so early.
”Therapy.” Sam tried to smirk but didn’t it wasn’t a secret that Juliette wanted him to talk to someone and while he was open to the idea he was still stubborn. He knew that going back to the basics worked well for him so that was what he was doing.
Sam brought a hand up in a block then threw out a fast front kick to where someones gut would have been. He was almost tempted to form some ice clones to help with the training but he decided not to. That would have been more noise and it was still early. ”Weren’t too cold were you?” Sam asked curiously.
Sam’s movement started to slow into a less aggressive one, his hands and feet slowly left the ground and were put down even slower. ”You ever practice Tai Chi?” he asked curiously, ”Or is yoga more your thing?” he added a smirk.

Sam shrugged and then pointed to his eyepatch, ”I was told this fashion choice screamed, troubled past.” Sam said with sip of his glass, ”Was forced to grow up early so I understand kids who have had a rough childhood.” Sam said trying to be somewhat descriptive but still vague about his earlier life. ”I have a soft spot for kids who have had a rough childhood. Kids should be kids… ya know?” Sam said with another sip.
”He wouldn’t be the first kid I took in for special training, I found if they are to exhausted to fight they try other things. Like talking… for a while couldn’t get Gawain to shut up.” Sam said with a little smirk.
”Guess not. I think things would have been a lot different if it wasn’t for this place. I was already pretty far gone till I came here. Didn’t know how far sometimes but… Danger Room… lot of stuff to hit.” Sam said completely oblivious to Devon possibly hinting that Sam had something similar going on.
”So…” he said finishing his drink then tapping his desk slightly.

”Awww really? Took me so long to break this one in too.” Sam said eyeing the hole then taking a swig of his beer before forgetting about the hole. He could always buy other shirts maybe not as comfortable as the one he had on now but surely with less holes in them.
When she mentioned that she couldn’t have any because she had to fly home Sam had a feeling where this conversation was going. His nostrils flared and he took another swig of his drink to be even more defiant than he apparently already was. He wasn’t mad but a little irritated. He didn’t like it when people questioned if it was the right time to drink it usually was mixed in with feelings of pity. He didn’t like to be pitied.
”I just walked up from the Danger Room after a few hour cool down training session. I brought the beers because before that I put out a fire and stopped a robbery, which I was shot at more than once.” Sam emptied the contents of the first drink as he cracked open another brewski. ”Before that I haven’t slept in probably over twenty four hours.” Sam took a sip and then looked off into nothing as if he was pondering.
He was being a little rude but like he had said it was a long day, ”Think I earned a few.” Sam said as he then chimed in on the fact that this was a school as well. ”Class is still in session, I live here and the only person I think I’m distracting with my behavior at the moment is you… am I at least a good one?” Sam smirked then gave an apologetic nod, ”So I’m sorry for any trouble…”

Once they arrived Sam took the ice off of his coffee and took a sip despite a few cold spots it was still warm enough to get the job done. Sam set his coffee down on a platform of wood that seemed to have been formed for either a step stool or a spot for coffee. Either way Sam made it a spot for his drink and then looked back to Xavia who seemed ready.
”Both will do. I guess, you wanted help with your powers, right? Might as well put you in a situation where you don’t have much time to think about them.” Sam said as he cracked his neck and then shot a beam of ice at her head. It wasn’t subzero but it would have been enough to give her a brain freeze should she have gotten hit. Sam then charged forward dropped down slightly then threw an uppercut at her gut.

Sam waited till she was done before he responded to anything. He wasn’t mad and understood her hesitation in working as an X-Woman. In truth she was right but that was why there was a difference between team leaders and trainees. Most full fledged X’s shouldn’t be under twenty. At least in his opinion. ”You know I didn’t just get a badge right?” Sam asked and continued before she could respond. ”You’ll have access to my records in your police files, I went through the academy, even an accelerated course for the detectives exam.”
Sam folded his arms and continued, ”I fended off dragons, assassins and volcano’s. While I might be qualified to handle some situations I know there is always someone more qualified than I.” Sam paused for a second to let the words sink in before he added, ”Trainee’s shouldn’t be handling things on their own. That’s when things go wrong.” Sam raised an eyebrow, ”I’m not saying you aren’t capable as a cop but if you wear the X, there is no reason you should be in a situation like that.”
Sam nodded his head and shrugged, ”So why the tryout then?”

Sam tried to take a step towards Juliette but felt his weight go out from under his recently stabbed leg that was now iced over. He caught himself up on the wall then leaned against it knowing that the wall was one of the few constants till someone decided to remove it from him. Like everything in his life everything seemed temporary. ”Heh….Me either…” Sam said without thinking about it.”[/color]
The icemancers head rested on the wall behind him as he finally called out, ”Maybe you’re right.” Sam doubted it but he was happier not knowing she was still alive for the time being. He was finally seeing her less frequent in his nightmares and dreams so that meant surely that he was getting better. Maybe she wasn’t who he thought she was… even if she was carbon copy.
”I’m sorry…” he followed imagining how bad this looked to an outsider, it was clear Juliette saw it the same way. Still not sure what to do or say Sam waved his hand. ”I’m sure you know where you need to go. If not just head straight through there and you’ll find someone who can help you.” Sam said before turning back to Juliette still making sure not to make eye contact.
Pushing himself up and pointing back to his office Sam finally glanced to meet her eyes. Not sure what he would find he was sure the office would be the best place to talk about whatever the hell just happened.

This was something you couldn’t come back from. It wasn’t the first time he had thought it and it wouldn’t be the last. The frozen blade digging into leg was pulled and dropped to the floor and then shattered. A few drops of blood remained there as more red exited the self inflicted wound. His gaze shifted to his leg, which coated over instantly with ice where the wound was. He had a feeling Doc was going to yell at him again for the wound but… he looked back to Juliette who was horrified, there was a scream then she shouted something she rarely said. She was mad.
Sam looked back down to his leg then it clicked. He just stabbed himself again; his brain was playing catch up while the adrenaline was pumping through his veins. He only did that when he was starting to lose control or… his gaze followed the heat signature back to Alexandra, someone who once again should have been dead. ”Pitic” Sam said a little louder this time still not sure what he was saying. The word just came to him again.
”You were dead.” Sam said pointing to Alex, ”I looked for you….” Sam said, trying to force the words out. He was happy she was still alive; it was hard accepting she was dead. Pushing himself up from the wall.
His instincts too, told him to run. The sight of Alexandra was usually accompanied by the sound of their children’s screaming or the smell of burnt flesh. It was hard right now associating her from his other reality one where they were family.
He needed a drink… badly. He’d have to get himself. First Jorge came back then Gawain and now Alex. Sam closed his eye and tried to breath too much information was being processed. The dead never stayed dead it seemed. ”I shouldn’t have done that.” Sam said making sure not to meet Juliette’s gaze.
He was ashamed with what he had just done. This was far different than stabbing himself in front of Jorge or Gawain. He did this in front of his girlfriend and his ex. It was bad enough showing your current girlfriend how far you were from actually being ‘okay’ but he had to show it to Alexandra who was now not dead. He didn’t want either of them to see him like this. ”I’m sorry…” was all he could manage to say.

The air in his opinion was getting far to dry as it was becoming increasingly hard to breath. His vision shifted to Juliette who appeared and things had a certain clarity till he heard Alex again. She was dead. She wasn’t alive in this world, he was sure of it. After the Romania camps they split but he had kept tabs on her after that she vanished for a time and then nothing. No trace of the woman he had once loved and raised a family with several times over.
Sam caught himself on the wall as he doubled over trying to focus it was hard to focus on anything at the moment and the more his head seemed to swim the colder it got. Sam looked at Alexandra and muttered a name he had once called her in her native tongue. It seemed unfamiliar to him as he said it but he suddenly felt like things weren’t the way they seemed.
Sam shook his head once then looked to Juliette then back to Alexandra. Sam shifted his neck causing it to crack as he shook his head. She wasn’t real. Alex was dead. Juliette was in front of him bright as could be and he focused for a second. ”I thought I saw something that…” his eye shifted again and he suddenly felt the urge to run. He was afraid of what was going to happen now that he was seeing his ‘not-real ex-wife’. She wasn’t alive and he was so the only way he could see her was….
Sam formed an ice knife and jabbed it into his leg. A spot he had stabbed several times in the past few months though this was the first time he had done it in front of Juliette. Sam grunted in pain and looked over to where Alex was seconds before. She was still there. Sam closed his eye and shook his head pushing himself up against the wall. ”Focus… Damn it focus!”

”First episodes are usually the longest… right?” Sam asked raising an eyebrow as they entered his room. Without hesitation Sam sat down in the chair next to Jules and set the popcorn down on the desk next to the beer. Sure they could have gone to the ‘man-cave’ but he was trying to be more personal than he used to be the lack of drinking was a good encouragement for new students to knock on his doors so why not watch some shows in his office.
Sam already took a sip from a newly opened beer and sighed, ”I mean… no one can get it right?” Sam asked knowing that answer wasn’t going to fly. ”I guess I can do it? Good exercise?” Sam asked not really sure if that was a good reason. He just wanted it to be clear he was going to the front door to greet someone… not because it was technically his job but because Juliette asked him too. Not that he’d admit that was the reason for him doing it either.
”Guess I can ‘ave a lil fun with this then.” Sam said adopting a faint British accent. It wasn’t the first time he had donned the accent and he was sure it would be the last, while it was sometimes fun most of his accents were taught to him during his time in T.A.T. where subtle accents were key it had a tendency to ask less questions unless it was grossly out of place.
Sam smirked and left the office and started down the hall sipping his beer. It was a woman, he felt her body heat before he had seen her, mainly because his one good eye was still closed as he took a swig of his drink he then shifted his gaze to see/feel if Juliette was going to see what kind of fun he was going to have.
”Wet afternoon to ya.” Sam said with his slight accent. He took a swig of his beer then added, ”Welcome to mutant manor.” it wasn’t the name but rather a popular nickname (one he coined when he first came to the school). When his eye locked on the female his brain didn’t register the all to familiar frame.
Sam was about to take another sip of his beer when his brain finally clicked who he was looking at his stomach dropped along with the bottle he was holding. Sam’s hand instantly went to his temple and he revealed a shaken expression. ”Can’t be… Not real… not again…” the air around him started to get cold as his brain tried to tell itself there was another person back from the dead. His ‘not-real wife and mother of his not-real children’.

”No, I don’t think that was the case because if they did up doing that it would negate the brilliance that was Sherlock. Not saying that he can’t be a mutant but I think the story would be better with his mind working like that. I mean Eve could do that but we always joked she was no Sherlock.” Sam said as he lifted the large bag of popcorn as they walked down the hallway from the kitchen to his office where they’d just finished their first episode of Sherlock before taking a quick break for snacks and libations.
”Look I’m just looking forward to Moriarty. If he is as brilliant as you say I might have to dismiss the movies.” Sam said as his hand tightened around the six pack in his other hand. He wasn’t thinking about drinking for once and his mind was focused on who he was with, Juliette a woman who he was falling hard for.
Juliette in Sam’s mind was the best thing that had happened to him in a long time. He was drinking less and sleeping more something that was unheard of since he had experienced his ideal world be burnt down to the ground. It was a painful experience that with the help and encouragement of the woman beside him he didn’t think he’d ever be able to move on from but here he was not drunk on a Saturday afternoon and having no intentions of being so. A few beers maybe but that was it.
”Also I was told that I’d enjoy the process of winter’s coming from Chess of Crowns.” Sam said trying to recite what Jorge had told him. He also had heard a few times that it was never there but he knew Jorge wouldn’t set him up like that.
Sam looked to Juliette and smiled, ”Just saying… the rain isn’t supposed to stop anytime soon.” he said about the weather outside. Surely they could finish all of Sherlock and Chess of Crowns there was no way there were that many episodes.

With his coffee in hand he jogged after her trying his best to keep up. It had been a while since he had actually ran and while his body was familiar with it his mind wasn’t he kept focusing on the coffee and his pants chafing against his legs instead of focusing on the destination like he usually did when he ran. Maybe he should focus less on sparring and more on running?
When they got to the spot Sam unfroze the top of his coffee mug and chugged it which he found was a mistake as he was gasping for air after it. ”Obviously been a while since I ran last. Looks like you beat me.” Sam said as he put his hands on his knees and breathed heavy for a few seconds. ”I need a drink” he said more to himself than to anyone else as he tossed the mug on the soft ground then placed his hands on his head.
”Running might be a bit harder but, I’m still the king of sparring.” he said as he leaned back stretching his back. ”No holding back?”

Judging from Juliette’s initial response of rubbing her temples this dinner was not going well. After everything was said and done she’d be getting an abundance of specialty coffee and flowers. When she mentioned the ambulance Sam suddenly felt that they shouldn’t have called anyone if this was related to his powers there would be a story somewhere about it and in Alex’s case when it came to stories he didn’t need another one out there right now.
Sam shifted his weight and nodded reluctantly and then raised an eyebrow to ‘not-Alex’. He seemed panicked more afraid than Sam was a few minutes ago but he did his best to put on a calm composure by placing his hands behind his head making sure not to tear the suit. He was pretty sure his tailor wouldn’t be willing to fix another tear in a suit.
When Juliette sat down he also started to focus on the air around them, he didn’t lower the temperature because if he did there was no telling if ‘not- Alex’ would view that as hostile or not. ”You’re safe here.” he added after Juliette spoke.

”I like it.” Sam said with a smirk, ”You’ll have to tell me more about this great guy.” Sam said wishing her hand remained on his cheek a just a little bit longer. The second kiss was also something he wished was a bit longer but when he felt the security of the blanket leave his bare back he smirked.
”Night Jules. See you in the morning.” Sam turned back to the fire and stared at it for a bit till he started to feel his eyelid get heavy. He however pushed it off because if he did manage to sleep there’d be a chance he’d end up waking Juliette if he crawled into the sleeping bag with her. With a sniff he pushed himself up and rotated another few logs before deciding that a few hours of sleep would be a good option.
Crawling next to Juliette and the sleeping bag he laid down on the bare ground pushing back some more ice so there was less chance of her being cold. Head on his own arm he fell asleep facing Juliette.
‘Daaaaaaaddddd!’
Sam’s eye snapped open before he jumped up remembering where he was. With a low sigh he caught his breath and closed his eye again this time facing the top of the tent where the smoke was billowing out. After a few seconds he slowly rolled over and pushed himself up making sure not to wake Jules. She unlike him could sleep so there was no reason to wake her.
Sam threw a few more logs on the fire then decided to exit the tent. Looking around at the steam rising up from the ground he felt a certain kind of power here, there was an abundance of moisture in the air. Sam exhaled and started to move about throwing out blocks and strikes as ice started to coat his hands and arms. Other than alcohol, training was the only other thing that helped him get his mind off of his nightmares.

Giving her the thumbs up he finished another three cups before walking out into the hallway. He didn’t bother changing; he was one to practice in his regular clothes knowing he wouldn’t always have an opportunity to change if something happened all of a sudden. Walking out slowly he let out a yawn then met up with Xavia in the hallway who was already stretching. Something else Sam didn’t bother with at the moment, he was still pretty limbered up from his danger room session from before his nap.
”Alright then, all set?” Sam asked as he still had a coffee cup in his hand and took another sip then iced over the top so it wouldn’t spill on the walk or run to the cluster of trees. ”Where did we leave off last time we practiced?” Sam asked as he started to head for the door.

”Double major and volunteering?” Sam smirked and snapped his fingers, ”dang, super busy then! Must be great at time management.” Sam sipped his drink then asked ”so what kind of volunteering are you doing here? Big sister, sub teaching?”
Shifting his weight and turning the large burn hole in his shirt towards her he followed up asking, ”Any good at patch work? Might need a new one too, any good with fire proof material?” Sam asked as he took a sip of his beer.
It took Sam a second to realize her gaze was passing over the drinks in his hand he shifted his weight again and then offered her up one of the drinks. ”You’re legally allowed to drink right?” Sam asked hoping she wasn’t just another underage kid who was eyeing his alcohol. He was running out of hiding spots in the mansion. ”You can have one with you want.”
