The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Abby did her best to calm down. The idea of working with Sam had been something she had been thinking about for a while now. When she first met him, his office was so cluttered. She had felt bad afterwards, for interrupting him while he worked.
She was a step behind Juliette when they got to the door. Her tummy was doing somersaults.
>>"Would you like to knock?"
Not really. But this was something she should really do on her own. Abby nodded jerkily before moving the half step to knock. She cringed at the louder than expected knock she made. She had hit the wood a little harder than she probably needed to. The little blonde shut her eyes and forced herself to not move.
She really wanted to hide behind Juliette now. But that wasn't a very "mature" thing to do.

Abby scrambled to follow the nice woman as she left the table. Her food forgotten for the time being. She didn't think she could eat much more right now anyway. Her tummy was queasy.
>>"Who do you want to talk to first? Sam's probably in his room, and Doc Prof is probably either in his room or in the lab."
The doctor or Sam... Abby thought hard for a moment, her face scrunching up in thought. Doc was nice and he didn't mind her coming by... but there was more chance of someone else being there. Sam was more likely to be alone. And he had been really good about helping her with her fighting before.
Nodding in certainty, she turned to look at Juliette. "Can we go see Sam first? Please?"

Abby blinked. Did she say 'both' would? She might not have to choose?
>>"Do you want to go talk to them?"
"Do you really think they'd both say yes?" she asked quietly. She really wanted to help out around the school. It had helped her so much since she came. "Will you come with me to ask?"

Abby preened a little at the hurt noise Sam made. Logically, she knew he was probably faking. She wasn't very good. But it still made her feel more confident. Not that confident. She learned that lesson with the dummies.
>>”Good kid, though when you strike keep coming or runaway and get some distance don’t just stand there.”
Keep moving. Abby added that to her budding plans. The next hit looked like it would go for her torso. She tried to do slide a little to dodge the punch while still moving forward for Sam's torso. He clipped her side. She spun a little, but she did get a small fist into just below his ribs.
Keep moving. She ducked and spun out from the invisible bubble she imagined as Sam's attack area.
>>”Move faster, I shouldn’t be hitting you.”
I'm new to this! she mind told her to scream at him. She clamped her lips shut and focused though. His next attack was aimed for her tummy. Abby knew she wouldn't be able to dodge that. Not after getting hit before. He was faster than her. Bigger too. Stronger.
Before Abby could really think through her idea, Sam's palm was too close. She wrapped her hands around his wrist and let him hold her weight as she kicked off the floor. No where in her lessons did this come up, but she was moving without true thought. Feet together, the tiny blonde aimed a double kick at whichever part of Sam her swing would take her too.

The list Juliette gave wasn't that long, but it made Abby smile. If she, an adult, thought there was a chance for the little shifter to work around the school. Helping Sam would always be something she wanted to do. Serena talked about him a lot. And Doc was the first person she trusted here! She would really like to repay him for being so nice.
"What if I wanna do them both?" Abby asked quietly.
Most of the time people had to choose these kinds of things. But Abby really didn't know which she would like more. Picking up her fork, she began picking at her breakfast, trying to figure out which she would enjoy more.

>>"Hey. Double A five!"
Abby gave Maya a weak high five in return. It didn't seem all that great, but at least she knew what size she needed now. And she didn't have to do it alone. The little blonde would admit to being worried about going into a store like this by herself.
"If you're in a double A, I don't think you've been measured in a while, mom."
The lady seemed a bit mean, but Abby really just ignored the tone. It was kind of interesting to learn about different types of bras. Push up didn't seem like something she'd like right now, being so small but maybe later. Taking Maya's hand again eased some of the nervousness she had. She wasn't positive, but she thought the older blonde was thinking about buying something either for herself, in a weird way, or for Isabel.
>>"I mean, I don't want anything lewd. Just. Special."
"Oh. Of course."
"Um... What exactly is a push up?" she asked. She was new to this! She was allowed to ask questions! Hopefully.

Dummies are one thing.
That phrase rang in her head as Sam began to move. The rest of his advice didn't really stick as well as the first bit. The fist moving towards her was... well it didn't exactly catch her off guard. She knew why they were here. It just. . . It took her a moment to react. Sam's hit was halfway to her by the time her body moved. This she knew was more instinct than training though.
Ducking low to the ground, making herself a smaller target and doing a kind of hop-step to the side got Abby out of the way. Now her training was coming to mind. His back was open. Still crouched low, Abby swung her leg at the back of his knee. Joints were weak points in the body. Knees were ones that kept most of your weight, and ankles were a bit to low for her to try to target. She knew her kick would be a little off. She was still new to fighting, but she hoped she'd at least hit something.

"Um... All of them?" Abby asked in response to the first question. She never really paid much attention to what classes were available. She just went to the ones that were on her schedule. "Well, no, not all. I have a free period every day now. I didn't last year. Hmm... I have math and history and English and science and art and gym and then the free period."
School wasn't something Abby spent a lot of time thinking about. She did work for her grades but after studying or doing homework, she typically went to do something else. Her studying of history this summer was mostly due to how poorly she had done in the class last time. The little blonde didn't want to get a failing grade. Not when she lived in the school. She was also pretty sure Cafas would be disappointed. And Serena. And Maya. Probably Sam too.
>>"So you're looking for ways to make money? What kinds of things would you consider doing?"
Abby hadn't actually thought about what she'd like to do to earn money. Thinking about it, helping on the grounds, while fun, would be something she'd have trouble with due to her size. She didn't know how the pool was kept clean, but she disliked the chemicals in the water enough that she probably wouldn't like to help put them in the water. What would a adult need help with? Sam probably needed help with all the paperwork she saw in his office. "I like spending time with Doc. And I'd like to help around the offices if I could," she decided. Doc could probably be considered one of her first friends here. And every time she went into an office, there was loads of papers every where. "Are there things like that I could do here?"

Abbigail was enjoying the last of the green. Autumn was upon them and the trees and bushes of the gardens were loosing their summer colors. There was a little alcove she had found years before. It was out of the way; a dead end in the maze. It had probably been set up for a resting area with its stone benches and overhanging tree branches. It created a nice place to rest and see the colors change.
The little blonde had made a point of going to the nook every time the season changed. Watching the trees bud and flower and turn colors was always entertaining. Usually she would bring a book or homework, but this time she just sat there on the cold stone bench.
A light rustling of the bush leaves had her looking around. It sounded low to the ground. Probably a squirrel or another small animal. A moment later, an orange kitten stalked through the bushes, chasing a cricket it looked like. Abby stifled a giggle at the little feline. A bit of her laughter escaped, but all it did was turn the kitten's attention to her.
Or rather, her swinging legs. Abby kept up her rhythm as the kitten started to stalk towards her. She had enough experience to stay silent so as not to scare the animal.

Standing on a stool just to be able to work on the counters and stove-top never made Abby happy. But she was short, still growing, and currently below average height. She would have to deal with a stool to be able to work in the kitchen. The thirteen year old was hopeful for a few more inches before she stopped growing. It would be nice.
The Mansion kitchen was... well a bit of a mess. But it was Saturday morning, early enough most students would still be sleeping. And adults who came by had coffee, bacon, eggs, oatmeal, and toast sitting on hotplates. Abby knew she would be taking over the kitchen and had planned for it. She couldn't really be yelled at if she had made food for people before starting her baking. At least, she hoped not.
There were fresh apples, cored and sliced sitting in a bowl away from the heat of the stove. Some dough for makes a crust nearby too. Her phone was sitting next to the stove with the recipe opened. Abbigail had finally figured out how useful her gifted phone could be. All sorts of recipes were available to her through the internet. She didn't even have to print them out anymore. At least, not until she knew if she liked the recipe.
The saucepan on the stove had two different types of sugar, butter, salt, cinnamon, and water heating inside it. She had to wait for it to boil before taking it off the heat, according to her recipe. Her oven was already preheating so that wasn't worrisome. Once the glaze was done, she would move on to setting the crust, apple slices, and crust top together. The inviting smell of her glaze was making her hungry, and so was having those apple slices sitting there, but she would wait until putting the pie in the oven before snacking on something. The scent should at least bring people into the kitchen to find food.

Abby just shrugged at the apology. It didn't hurt as much now to admit her parents were dead. It still made her heart heavy, but she could still smile when talking about it. Small smile, but a smile nonetheless.
>>"So Cafas is sort of like a surrogate, then. How did that come to be?"
The little girl shrugged. "He acts like a Papa so I call him Papa. Maya's the same, but Momma." She wasn't as talkative as others her age. And she wasn't really sure if Cafas and Maya would be okay with her telling other students about their relationship. SHe would have to talk to them about it soon, with school back in session. "Just how to defend myself," she responded to the question about Sam. "I don't really know what else it would be called. I know how to dodge and punch and stand and stuff. I still need to work on everything with shoes though."
>>"What about you? Do you live here? And go to school?"
Abby hummed in agreement. "I have my own room right now. No one wants to be my roommate I think. But that's okay 'cause it means Adder and I can watch movies on the floor. And I don't have to worry about other people's habits. Like snoring or sleep walking. I've heard a lot about those types of things from other kids.
"I really like the school. It has lots to do when there aren't classes. I stayed here over the summer instead of going to see my uncle; I didn't get bored or anything. Though I had to be careful after the Rally. Papa got pretty overprotective then. I had to make sure I had an adult with me when I went out. Now I'm not really worried about leaving. I have a lot of homework and other things to keep me occupied. Though I do want to find a way to earn some money." The little blonde froze as she realized how much she had said. A warm wave washed over her face, probably turning it bright red. She ducked her head so she was looking down and nibbled on her toast.

>>”Danger Room. Serena didn’t take you here yet?”
Abby followed Sam through the school. She knew where the Danger Room was and how to get there, but it was really just easier to follow. The little blonde tried to figure out what time it was. Would Cafas be in there? Or would he have already left for the Infirmary? Or had he even been there to begin with?
>>”It’s not too dangerous, I’ll put it on a low setting for you.”
Peeking around the room, Abby let her thoughts out. "I thought Cafas was here..." She moved slowly into the area. For some reason it felt weird walking into it with Sam. Or maybe it was because she put this time down as Cafas' training time. "Serena brought me here. We had training dummies that weren't really dumb."
Taking the last few steps, Abby put herself in front of older mutant and got into her own stance, though it was a little shaky. She hadn't actually fought against a real person yet. She waited for Sam to make a move. She wasn't a big fan of fighting and she knew her style was more defensive than offensive. Abbigail knew she was better at reacting than making initiating contact. A majority of her friendships started out with the other person speaking to her first.

The little blonde was very happy Cafas was taking her slip so well. She would have to make sure her Uncle knew she had slipped. Though he had known about her seeing Cafas as a father figure. It would just be good to let him know Cafas knew about it now.
>>"Oh Utopia planning? Wow. I didn't know you were planning to go to Utopia. Or is Panu on the council for Utopia?"
Council? Abby didn't know about that. "I don't think there's much that can be hidden from Panu," she stated. "He's also gonna be living there when it's built so Mr. Jaager probably let him see the plans."
>>"What sort of technology did he have? I suppose Mr. Jaager can afford to buy the latest things for his son, but things you didn't know existed sounds pretty cool."
Abby skipped a bit as she went into her room. Her bag smacked against her back, but she was too happy to care. "There were giant tablets and really cool looking cameras and these helicopter things, though one of them was kinda in pieces. I think Panu was looking at how it was built. And so many tablets! I didn't know they came in so many sizes. Speakers too!"
Abby kept babbling about the different technology she saw in the room as she emptied her bag and started to put some things away. She made sure to put her phone on her nightstand; she would need to use it more often. It would probably be the easiest way to keep contact with him. Her clothes from yesterday were put in her laundry basket to be cleaned later.
"I'm sorry I forgot to tell you I was going to Panu's," Abby reiterated, leaning against her bed. "I didn't mean to make you worry."

>>"Cafas is your dad?"
Abby shook her head. "No. Daddy died," she tried to explain. "Cafas acts like a daddy though, so I call him Papa."
It was still new to her. Having Cafas be okay with her calling him Papa. Uncle Henry knew though. She had made sure he did before she had ever called Cafas "Papa" even in her head. Uncle Henry had been sad but understanding too. He told the little blonde that so long as she didn't forget her Mommy and Daddy. Abby wasn't afraid of forgetting her parents. And Cafas and Maya didn't seem to be wanting to replace them either.
>>"Do you enjoy the lessons?"
Abby smiled and nodded, chewing her mouthful of food. "Are you living at the school?" There were plenty of adults at the school who just lived there. Most didn't even work at the school. But she hadn't met an X-Man that didn't live at the Mansion.

She annoys? That's why Astrid hated her? She annoyed her. That... Abby inhaled slowly. Then let the air out of her lungs in a long exhale. No point in getting into a fight with the winged girl. The little shifter continued eating her sandwiches, letting her silence fill the space instead of replying.
If Astrid thought her annoying, best to not annoy the girl further. She still remembered those crystals from before.
