The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Abby took the route back to her room slowly. She didn't want to fall. She had learned to take her time with things, like homework. This would just be one of those things. She didn't see the reptile kid on her way to the stairs. He probably wouldn't show up again. Or maybe he would. Abby wasn't sure.
She took the stairs one at a time. It was slow but safer. She rocked a little, but she didn't fall or hurt herself. She was happy her wolf friend was with her though. Once on the correct floor she fastened her pace. She wanted to watch her movie. And now she had a friend to watch with!
"The movie's all set up in the back corner," she informed her friend. "You can go ahead if you wanna." It wouldn't take too long for the little blonde to get there herself. Less than five minutes. Then they could watch the movie!

Abby gathered the information in her head. There were some things she didn't get. But a lot of what the adult-girl said made more sense than what her teachers said. "What would be 'way of life' like back then? Clothes? Meat? Why tea?" she asked. That part was a little weird. Why was tea considered important enough for people to dump it in the ocean?
Then an idea popped into her head. "Don't we have taxes on stuff now?"

>>"No, but still hit. And do more than you."
Abby glared at the black haired, black eyed girl. She didn't like what she was saying. Instead of continuing the battle of words, the little blonde turned slightly towards where she saw the fire-escape for the building. She was done dealing with this winged girl. And to think, Abby was going to learn French so she could talk to her better. Not now. "See ya," she called over her shoulder.

Abby listened to the answer to her questions carefully. She hoped it would make more sense than the books and her teacher. It kind of did. More sense than she thought.
>>"Yeah. I'm right. I just checked. Does that help?"
"So, because France and Britain were both trying to be in the same place, they fought, instead of just sharing. Britain won so they named the war. After all that trouble to keep the land, Britain just gave it away when the colonists revolted? Why would they do that? And why would the French help the people they fought against before?" Abby felt like she was gaining even more questions. At least she was getting some answers though.

Abby was kinda impressed with crystals that went flying. At least until most of them missed the door, which Abby figured was the target. But one did manage to pin the door shut.
>>"I fast, too."
She raised her eyebrows at the older girl. "Not very accurate," she commented, motioning to the majority of the crystals, which were stuck in the roof and not the door.

>>"Yeah, I know some history. Tell me what you're having trouble with, and I'll see what I can do."
Abby smiled at the adult-girl. Then she looked down at her book on colonial America for one of her problem areas. "The French helped the colonies in the Revolution. Why were they fighting in the French/Indian War? And why is it called the French/Indian War? It was France and the United States, wasn't it?" Abby actually had a lot of questions. Some of which had to do with dates and why they did things a certain way. But it was better to start at the beginning right? The whole French, Indian, American war thing was the furthest forward she could go.

>>"Do you need help?"
Abby jerked at the interruption to her punishing her brain. She looked up to see an older girl, an adult probably. She looked old enough. The adult-girl had long brown hair. She was pretty too. "Wha?" Then what the adult-girl said registered. "Um, i-if you know any-anything about his-history, yes please." Her stutter was back. She was getting better with that, but it was still hard to speak to new people. Though now that she had people she talked to regularly it annoyed her more, the fact she stuttered.
"I'm hoping not to fail it next year," the green eyed girl admitted as she pulled her book back to her. She really hadn't liked being told she almost didn't pass her history class. It was hard enough; she didn't want to have to do it again. So summer studying.

Abby pushed the books away from her and laid her head on the wood. Nothing made sense in them. There were too many dates and too many people. She had almost failed history last year. The original colonies, all the wars, the new states and laws. American history was not easy to learn. There were too many names and dates. These people were friends during this war, but then they fought against each other in this one. It didn't make sense!
Giving up wasn't what she wanted to do, but it just didn't click like science did. She could almost explain why people touching her skin hurt to the younger students through her knowledge of biology. She knew what happened when she shifted, what allowed her gills to form and how her were covered in scales and fins sprouted. She got science. She could do math. English was reading and she liked to do that. It was history she couldn't figure out.
The little blonde lifted her head off the table and let it fall back down. It stung, but she did it again. And again. And again.

"Hello, Miss Abbigail," DocProf greeted as he turned towards the door. "Bite yourself again?"
"Hello DocProf," she returned, entering the infirmary. She had a red blush on her cheeks, but she had learned how to ignore it. At least with DocProf. He liked to tease her about how they had met every time he saw her. "And no. Not today. I was hoping you could help me with something."
"And what would that be?"
"Have you seen Cafas today yet?" she asked, taking a seat on one of the spare chairs.
"Not yet. You can wait here if you'd like. It might not be a pretty sight when he gets here." DocProf turned back to his paperwork.
"That's fine. I can wait." She made herself comfortable. Abby was sure she could've asked the Doctor, but while she trusted him to keep her small cuts caused by her teeth a secret, he wasn't really someone she knew. Cafas she knew. She had talked to him, had actual conversations with him. Her interactions with DocProf were more professional. And Cafas did say she could come to him with anything.

>>"Sounds a like a fungal infection... This is usually a sign of another underlying problem, be it bacterial infection, injury. Hang on one moment, we'll get this sorted out."
Underlying problems? Abby wondered. That didn't sound good. Injury didn't either. But it was possible. She knew plecos weren't very friendly with other plecos. Though Dagr and Minerva seemed to get along. Minerva kept to the back of her tank while Dagr stayed to the front. They didn't seem to fight. But she could have missed something.
"This should do the trick, but if you don't mind, I'd like to go with you, to check on them. Often, bacterial infections are mistaken for fungus. That and I want to routinely check a few things."
She startled out of her thoughts when Dr. Fishman returned. "That's fine," she agreed. Having someone actually check on her tank wouldn't be a bad idea. Not if he wasn't going to tell on her. "What kind of things do you wanna check?" she asked as she moved to show Dr. Fishman where her room, and her tank, was.

Abby stood up as Astrid called her a problem. Ha. She wasn't the one that kidnapped, stole, and threatened over the course of a single afternoon. "If that's what you call nice, I don't wanna see your mean."
>>"Now you stuck."
Abby glared up at the French girl before she looked around, double checking for the roof access door. Turning back to the winged girl, she pointed to the door at the other end of the roof. "You do know that most buildings over three floors have roof access, right? Plus fire-escapes most of the time." With her point made, she crossed her arms to see what the older girl would do.

Abby took care every morning to check on her aquarium. Her fish meant a lot to her. The aquarium itself had been a gift from her uncle. The three decorations she started out with were from her aunt. The bottom was filled with natural looking gravel rocks. She had a hollowed tree, plants, and a clay plant pot turned on its side for a cave like area. Her first fish was a plecos, Dagr, a common plecos.
Every year she could pick out a new decoration for it too. The first year she had chosen a sunken ship for her decoration. The next year she got some birght colored rocks to be scattered among the natural colored ones, and she got two guppies. At the time, she Aunt had thought they were both female, originally named Ginger and Ginseng. One of them ended up being male. A bit later she had a bunch of baby guppies in her tank! Minerva was her second plecos, and newest addition to her tank. She also got a live bamboo plant that she put in the back of her aquarium. Next to her tank, she had high quality flakes and a bag of freeze dried melons. Sometimes she would grab some broccoli or green beans from the kitchen for her plecos.
She took the time to feed them and check them everyday. They were hers to care for and she wasn't going to mess that up.

Abby listened to Cafas while she dug into their meal. It was nice not eating alone for once. Usually she ate before or after the school wide meal times. She didn't like people touching her. And it really was the best time to swim. No one bothered her then. And she got to be left alone while she swam.
>>"I was sad to lose my family. Angry even. Eventually I came here though, and even though it took a while, the people here became my new family. So at least I got a happy ending to that story, right?"
The little blonde hummed in agreement. Though she wasn't very popular in the school, she still felt safe here though. And she was rarely alone unless she wanted to be. Cafas seemed nice. He had helped her cook. And he wasn't scared of her teeth. He even gave her advice. "Can I be part of your family?" she asked quietly, unsure of how he would respond.

Abby's friend gave her non-answers mostly. Since she wasn't sure about the chocolate, she grabbed a packet of Twizzlers and some Laffy Taffy. The microwave went off and she grabbed a big bowl and the popcorn bag. She poured in some m&ms after the popcorn, leaving the Reese's out in case her friend shouldn't have too much chocolate. She gathered her bowl and the other bags and turned to her friend, who was still by the door.
"Ready to watch the movie?" she asked as she carried her prizes out of the kitchen. Going upstairs with her loot would be interesting. She didn't usually have her arms full like this. "When we get to the stairs, could you stay behind me? In case I fall?"
