The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"It seems like you're handling your period very well. I'm proud of you. As for your breasts, well, they may just grow later for you than the other girls, but I'm sure you've also noticed how adults are all different shapes and sizes? Some girls get big breasts, and some have quite small breasts, just like some people are tall, and some are short. It's nothing to be ashamed of, either way, no matter what anyone says. Okay?"
Abby felt a little better when he told her she was doing well. She hadn't been sure. It felt like everything she was doing was wrong. The thing about some girls having small breasts caught her attention. Everyone she saw had big ones. "Like who?" she asked seriously.

Abby jumped a little when Cafas touched her shoulder. She had been focused on not looking at him that she didn't notice him moving. She looked up at him now though, to see what he wanted. He looked really calm. She wondered how he did it.
>>"That's fine, sweetie. Things don't always happen in the same order for every person. They don't always happen at the same age either. Is there something in particular you're worried about with it? And do you know how to deal with... Your period? Is this your first one?"
"Mhmm," she nodded. "But I have everything I need. I just..." Abby frowned at down at her chest. Taking a deep breath, she decided just to say what she was upset about. "I'm flat. Why don't I, yeah know, have what other girls do?" There! She asked it. Every other girl her age were wearing bras and such. She wasn't. "Is something wrong with me?"

Abby stayed a little behind Serena, but in front of Astrid. She didn't know where they were going but at least Astrid wasn't accusing her of being evil anymore. It was nice to just walk. No small talk. No trying to think of something to say.
>>"How longer?"
Though apparently she was the only one who thought that way. She looked back to see if Astrid was having problems. The older girl seemed to prefer her wings to her feet. Her cello looked heavy though. "I could carry your cello if you'd like," she offered.

>>"Okay, well, firstly it's perfectly normal to have some changes around your age. So, that said, what have you noticed?"
Normal. Yeah. She knew that. She had read a bunch of books after her Aunt talked to her when she was nine, before going to the Mansion. That conversation took a lot longer for her to understand. Though, now she knew why Aunt Teresa had told her about all that before. But now... something was wrong.
A red flush still on her face, she tried to explain. "I'm not... I don't have... what the other girls have." She couldn't get the word out. Nope, not saying the word. "And I know, those should come before the... other thing happens. But I don't have any." Having blood come out of strange areas of your body was bad enough, but she had thought she knew when it would likely happen. Her... chest came first. That's what all the books said. She didn't have a chest. So what was wrong with her? Though she didn't have to worry about her skin like other girls, she thought maybe she was just late. Now she was sure something was wrong with her.

>>"Not like them how?"
Abby's face flushed. This was the part she had issue with. Even the older girls who liked to dress her up were commenting on it. How could he not know what she meant? Adults had to grow up to be adults. She knew that from science class. Abby shifted while trying to figure out how to say what was wrong aloud. Her face got hotter than before. This was so hard! "Here," she bit out. She made sure not to look at Cafas while she motioned to her chest area.

Serena's suggestion was great! And since it wasn't Abby who was asking, Astrid was more likely to agree. Then maybe the two of them could... she didn't know what they could do. Something, they could do something.
>>"Okay."
Abby grinned at that. Yes! They could do, whatever it was they needed to do to keep her and the winged girl from fighting. That would be nice. Abby bounced on her toes as she smiled. Her day wasn't turning out so bad after all.

Abby was a little shocked at being lifted. She hadn't been lifted like that since... her Daddy, probably. It was a family thing. It made her feel better about asking Cafas about this stuff though.
>>"I don't know, but you're pretty cool. Why, did somebody say something?"
Cool. He thought she was cool. Would boys think the same? Did cool mean the same after becoming an adult? "No, no one's said anything," she admitted. No one said anything. But she saw how the other girl's her age whispered. How they pointed. A lot of them didn't even talk to her. Like something was wrong with her. "I'm not like the other girls, though."

>>"No problem. Must be pretty serious... We can talk in Mama T's office. She's taken a day off so that should be empty."
While they walked, Abby tried to think through what she wanted. She knew what she wanted to ask. But now that she had the chance... she wasn't so sure. But the only one she knew she could ask was Cafas. She didn't really trust anyone else with her question. Cafas had said they could be family. Family could talk about this type of stuff.
>>"You okay?"
"I'm not normal, am I?" she asked quickly. Then she stopped and thought about what she had said. "Besides being a mutant, I mean."

Abby shifted on her feet as Astrid sat down. The older girl looked sad now. Her wings even showed it. The last time she had met Astrid, they didn't really get along. But how much of that was their lives? Before Abby just thought Astrid was being... well not nice. But this was the second time the blonde had seen the winged girl playing her cello in public.
>>"You go, then."
Abby turned to Serena for help. She didn't know what to do, but maybe the older blonde would.

Abby smiled at Serena's compliment. "She really is good. I wish I had more money to give her last time." It was something she liked to do now. After explaining why she need the money, her Aunt was happy to give her an allowance of twenty dollars a week. It really had helped her with her trips into the city.
Abby listened to Astrid's response. There wasn't really any thing she could say about her playing. It was really good. "We don't want anything," she stated honestly, not a hint of her earlier sarcasm in her voice.

>>"I'm sorry, back up a second. Who are you?"
>>"Valkyrie."
Abby snorted at the name. Then she turned to Serena. "Her name is Astrid. I met her in the subway where she was playing her cello. After giving her what little money I had on me, she grabbed me and took me wherever she wanted. I didn't exactly have a choice in the matter."
All true. She had gone along with what the older girl wanted to see what was going on. It wasn't easy to understand the girl's broken English. Abby had even tried to help by using what little French she knew.

On one of the rainy days of summer, Abby set up a little nest in a cross-way within the Mansion. There were plenty of places to sit and read within the school, but sometimes Abby just wanted to be able to see the people of the school. It was always interesting to see who walked by and what someone did on the rainy days.
The little green eyed girl was surrounded by plenty of pillows and blankets, borrowed from one of the many linen closets of the school. She had a new book with her. Cinder which seemed to be a retelling of the fairy tale in a new world. There were other books in the series, but she wanted to see if she liked it first. Her Aunt seemed to think she would.
Snuggling down into her nest, Abby began to read. Though she kept some attention on hearing if someone came by her spot.

Having Serena with her was really helpful. It seemed to annoy Astrid even more than she alone did. Ha!
>>Not alright. Little girl evil!"
That shocked her a little. She wasn't evil. Not one bit.
>>"She evil! Gave this! Look teeth!"
"I never bit you!" Abby yelled back. "And you kidnapped me!" And she did too! The winged girl had grabbed her in the subway and flew off with her. She'd also forced Abby outside of the store while Abby had been trying something on. Then she had held her hostage when the hotel lady came in. And then Astrid had held her over traffic, threatening to drop her onto the street too. Though she wasn't going to say anything about that. At least, not if she could help it. She may not like Astrid, but she didn't want to cause the girl any more trouble than she caused her. For every thing Astrid accused her of, Abby could come back with a true one easily.
Abby didn't notice a few people gasp at her admission to how they had first met. She was too focused on the winged girl. The girl who couldn't speak in full sentences and lied.

Abby was a little shocked to see how hurt Cafas was. She knew he trained during this time. She also knew he met DocProf after. That was all common knowledge in the school, when she knew who they were talking about. Seeing the amount of injuries was really different though. She let them do their thing as she adjusted to the idea. She was happy the visit to DocProf was common knowledge, and considered daily.
>>"Oh! Hi Abby, what's up? Thanks Doc. Same time tomorrow? You doing alright?"
Abby smiled up at the pink haired... family member person. She wasn't sure what they were really. Maybe a brother? But would you ask your brother the things she wanted to ask? She didn't know. Maybe. Her situation was a little weird. "Um, I have a something to ask you," she looked around at the infirmary. "In private, please."

Abby was enjoying the sunshine. Summer was officially upon New York City. After convincing an adult at the Mansion to go out with her, the little blonde was enjoying a walk around the many stalls and artists and musicians in Central Park. It was a little strange having to have an adult with her, but after the Rally, people knew what she looked like. After meeting Kirsi because of some anti-mutant people, Abby knew to be careful now. She was dressed to show off her discolored legs though. It was getting easier though, what with so many others giving her praise for showing who she was.
She had already bought a few trinkets from a few people, when she heard the haunting sound of a cello. She let herself go towards the musician, though she moved slowly instead of rushing. She could hear the music just fine from where she was. When she finally got close enough to see the musician, she found the winged girl from before. The French girl. Astrid.
"Whoops," Abby muttered before trying to make a large loop around the older girl. She didn't want her nice day to be ruined because of a run in with the criminal-like feathered girl. She kept her pace steady, not speeding up. That made people notice you, if you walked faster with no clear reason why.
>>You!"
Green eyes widened. She had hoped to get away unnoticed. Hopefully the older girl hadn't seen her listening to her play. That would be hard to explain. No point in ignoring the older girl. At the very least, Abby wasn't alone this time. She hoped that meant she wouldn't be kidnapped again.
"Yes? Can I help you?" she asked after turning to face the winged girl. Abby kept her face blank of any recognition. Just because she knew who it was, didn't mean she had to act like she knew the girl. It wasn't like they were friends after all.
