The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Iris Clinic is conveniently located pretty much equidistant from the mansion, the Sanctuary, and the Labs. We've already got people at the mansion who have felt the effects, so it should be pretty safe to assume that the Labs and the Sanctuary would also fall within that area.

In the thread Running from, running to, which takes place IC on approximately May 6, the powers of two mutants, Effie and Garrett, were combined in a rather catastrophic way.
Time: Evening(?) of May 6(ish), two days after the pokemon battle and about two weeks before Hunter returned.
Location: the epicenter of this attack was at Iris Clinic, which is just south of Central Park in Manhattan. The radius of the attack would cover most of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn and Queens. (The radius is that or an average city, but NY is rather a bit larger than an average city, so some areas would not be affected.)
Effects of the attack: A person's nervous system is overstimulated. Every nerve in the body fires in tandem. This would most likely result in a lot of pain, muscle spasms, and fainting from the over stimulation. Some people's hearts may stop for a moment; of these people who's hearts are affected most people's brains will restart the heart immediately. Those with weak hearts that are affected in this way are likely to die of cardiac arrest.
The news: News of this will spread quickly. The first reports will be of massive pile ups and other car accidents all over Manhattan. Later reposts may begin to speculate as to the nature of the attack and start looking for patterns. They may even be able to locate the epicenter as the mutant-friendly shop area south of the park. Anti-mutant protests are likely at this time.
Your character: If you do not choose to let this affect your character, you do not have to. There is plenty of areas of the city that were not affected that you could be in at that time. It is likely that your character will hear about it, though.
---Please give mods a heads up when you are planning city-wide or earth-shaking events, so we can prepare for helping other people react to them. Thanks!---

Please nominate someone that you feel is worthy of being selected as the Mutant of the Month for May. Remember that even getting nominated is a great pat on the back for other members to let them know you think they are doing a good job. Give a description of why you are nominating that person, gratuitously mention how awesome they are and exactly what ways, and give a leave some links to their recent threads that you have enjoyed so we can all share in the glory of their amazingness.
It is not necessary to second a nomination. If someone stole your candidate, show your appreciation by voting for them when the time comes.
HISTORY Born in Rhodes Greece, Andrea lived the first twenty two years of her behind locked doors, shielded away from the world to both protect her, and everyone else. Shortly After her second power developed she decided enough was enough and started researching in hopes that she would find a place offering help to others like her. One long illegal cruise ship ride later, Andrea stepped onto New York soil and started her new life. Since then, she'd been a mouse, met a guy who both confused and intrigues her, gotten swatted in the face with a garden shovel, had a cop killed in front of her, and experienced her first baseball game among other exciting things.
POWERS Andrea's Powers When she was still young, her first mutation kicked in, the power to destroy organic tissue with her hands. The dead organic matter ends up looking and feeling very much like stone. Andrea gained her second Power a few years later; the ability to knock people and animals into a catatonic comatose like state with her eyes.
POSTS TO SEE:
It's Raining Men - Andrea's first encounter with the Mansion gardener, and by encounter, I mean she landed on him. She gets literally shoveled in the face and meets the mansions own Gryphon for the second time.
A Cooking Date - Andrea's first 'Date', although she doesn't know it. She shares good old fashion Greek cooking and Aurum's gooey Butter cake- which she manages to mess up.
Some Things Are Not What They Appear - Andrea meets Aura for the first time. After witnessing her murder a cop right in front of her, Andrea struggles to figure out whether or not the aura wielding mutant is evil... or good, but more than a little twisted.
Take Me Out To The Ball Game - After knocking out a man on her first night in the mansion, Andrea bumps into him again and unfortunately repeats the ugly incident. Upon awakening, Saph demands she go with him to a baseball game he won tickets for, seeing as she limited the time in which he had to invite another.
Please nominate the person you think most deserves to win the prestigious title of Mutant of the Month for April. Leave your reasons, your favorite links, and anything you think will a) let the person know how much you appreciate their awesomeness and b) convinces other people to vote for them.
Remember, you do not need to 'second' a nomination. If you really support a person that is already nominated, you can do it by voting for them in two weeks.
Please vote only once (even if you have multiple accounts). Choose the player you think has contributed the most to the MRO site for the month of March!
