The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I would never have guessed that you were a mutant if you had not said anything," Mariusz replied, taking another bite from one of his sandwiches. In truth he felt just a little bit like a pig with so much food in front of him. But, one had to face the facts that flying burned a lot of calories so he needed to take in a lot of calories.
"I think I am supposed to start teaching flying classes at the Mansion soon. How come it has been so long since you used your powers," the Czech man asked in an ever so slightly prying tone. Of course, he used his abilities all the time but hiding the fact that he was a mutant also wasn't really an option for him. He took another bit of his soup and mused a bit more, perhaps those who had powers chose to hide them in order to avoid reprisals. That would be yet one more reason to run for mayor.
"Oh yes, quite functional," Mariusz said as a waiter wandered over and deposited the soup and sandwiches he had ordered in front of him. "I also find it is easiest to fly most places, I am sure you know how difficult it is to get a cab in this city. Besides that why should I pay for transportation when I have been blessed with a perfectly acceptable mode of transportation?"
He fell silent for a moment as he sampled the soup and sandwich. The drstkova polevka soup was a little bit light on the tripe and the paprika, no doubt because those weren't really what could be considered American tastes. The obložené chlebíčky were of the variety that included mozzarella cheese and tomatoes making them both almost like a caprese salad, but without the balsamic vinegar. All in all it was a taste of home with a bit of an American twist, but it certainly wasn't bad.
"Not too bad," the Czech mutant said, taking another spoonful of the soup and sliding it into his mouth.
"Oh, I might know your father then," Mariusz replied as they waited in line to get a chance to order. Apparently the restaurant was rather popular given that it was still moderately crowded even though the lunch rush was largely over with by this time in the afternoon. While Maya ordered he examined the menu which was, in a word, thorough. He was just reaching for his wallet to pay for lunch, it was the polite thing to do since he had invited her, when she paid for herself.
"I would like a big bowl of the Drstkova Polevka and two Obložené Chlebíčky," Mariusz said, ordering the only Czech dishes he saw on the menu. It would be interesting to see what kind of twist they put on it in America or if it was more traditional. He paid for his meal and was given a stick with a number on it before joining Maya in the booth she had selected. His wings ruffled a little as he sat down and slid into the booth.
"You know, I would have paid for lunch. I invited you, it is the polite thing to do," he said, shrugging his shoulders.
"We are all graced with the gift of free will. We choose the paths that we shall follow, for good or for ill. Unlike the proverbial zebra we all have the ability to change our stripes, to turn over a new leaf," Mariusz said, stepping closer to accepting the card from her. For someone that was afraid of flying with him she sure was taking her chances on the ledge. He fished in the pocket of his only clothing garment, at the moment, a pair of basketball shorts and pulled out his wallet. He slid the card into the wallet, as if he would ever need to use it, and drew out a business card of his own which he passed to Tses.
"Think about it. You can rise above whatever situation you find yourself in. But the only one that can make the decision to do that is you," he said. Once she had accepted the card from him, which had nothing more than a name and a telephone number her crossed his arms over his chest and jumped backwards off the building. Giving a half twist in midair he allowed his wings to open with a snap and soared off.
The Paige and Butterfly idea... that's a hoot and a half. Talon would probably be happy to have that happen too since it's two less women he then has to worry about.
"And why would asking you be such a bad idea," Mariusz asked, his feathers puffing up a little bit. "As far as I know you are a perfectly fine person and maybe your issue has not so much been being trampled upon as it has been that no one has given you the chance to shine forth," he continued, stepping up to the edge of the building with the blonde. He had no fear of falling, what with having the large wings attached to his back and everything.
"Bob Nelson once said 'It is always easier - and usually far more effective - to focus on changing your behavior than on changing the behavior of others.' I have no concerns that you would be able to change my manner or behavior and I know, somewhere inside deep down, that you want the chance to shine. After all, is there any woman in all the world that rises from bed in the morning and says to herself 'I really want to be treated like dirt today'?"
"As for the Mansion girls, I have asked some of them. This is true. But, none has yet said that they wished to attend with me," Mariusz continued in a somewhat delicate tone. Why was it proving so hard to find a date? Usually women would look for any chance they could get to get all dolled up and fancy for a night. It wasn't as if he lacked for manners... could it be B.O.?
Jolly good Ty, let me know. Again, sneaking you in with the servants would work. Could maybe get a motive if Ty and Tses ran into each other and she gloated about the party. You'd have to talk to Tses about that though.
Announcement! The party shall be a Masquerade! That seems to, far and away, be the popular choice.
Talon will be going as the Phantom of the Opera though with a mask that covers forehead, both eyes, and right cheek rather than the more traditional half mask.
Response - Kaitlyn
Lenna would be invited as the head of Mondragon Labs. More than enough money there to have made the guest list. Bringing Kaitlyn and Victoria along that way, with Lenna, is just fine.
Syn, if she's going, can sneak in by bluffing past the guards and everything with her powers. That's a very believable way for her to get in as an uninvited guest.
As for Rupert if someone can come up with a way to get him in, the more the merrier. Talon won't be asking Rupert to be his date though. Kinda goes without saying.
Response - Ty
If Butterfly wants to come along in on this and bring Paige let me know. Both can be approached by Talon as potential dates (provided they're age appropriate) and be part of the gaggle of women who initially say no only to change their minds after he's hired WereCat as a bodyguard (sight unseen).
As for Ty, provided Rupert's going, I would suggest that Ty sneak in disguised as part of the serving staff (tuxedo and a basic white mask). Ty has the street smarts to be able to pull that off. Also, Tses will be there... so lots of fireworks potential there.
Response - Costume Claiming
If you would like go ahead and continue to claim your various costumes in this thread. Further questions and concerns can be addressed to me via PM or here in the thread.
I'll post the various plot timelines for Talon here. Full chronological thread order is the post above. There may be times in multiple plots are ongoing at the same time, but to keep each individual plot's timeline in order for reviewing or reading just one plot I made this.
"No, I do not live at Sanctuary," Mariusz replied. He had heard of the place, of course, but it was not where he was living. "I live at the Mansion, it is a sort of school and safe haven for people like... well, people like me," he continued, shrugging his shoulders and following in step with Maya as she led the way towards wherever it was that they would be eating.
"I am afraid I am not much of a rabble rouser, I believe that is the correct term. I prefer to keep things simple and peaceable insomuch as is possible," he said in reply to Maya's comment about people causing problems in her book store. He stopped where she stopped and took a look at the front of a restaurant that clearly specialized in various kinds of soup.
"Well, I can assure you that I have not eaten here either. I would suppose that makes it a culinary adventure for both of us," the avian mutant said, stepping just in front of Maya and pulling open the door for her before following her inside and taking a look over the vast menu of soups that were being offered.
"No troubles, per se. I am sure I have told you that my father is the Ambassador to the United States from the Czech Republic," Mariusz began, settling the stage for what he was going to ask with a brief explanation. "Well, in three weeks he will be hosting the major summer event for the Embassy, something I will have to attend. A big fancy masquerade ball at the Waldorf Astoria. A veritable who's who of important political, economic, and military figures."
Mariusz paused for a moment, trying to think of the best way to phrase his request diplomatically. "He has told me that I must bring someone with me to the party, preferably someone American. To be honest I have not found anyone to get involved with yet, at least not in that way," he said trailing off. In truth there was one person he very much wanted to ask, but he wasn't sure how to necessarily get ahold of said person and he figured his 'antics' while doped up on painkillers probably meant she would run screaming from the room if he asked her. He sighed and then continued.
"So, my predicament is this. I need to find a date for this event. Not necessarily a date in the implied romantic sense of the word but, rather, a date in order to please my father. Could you help me out?"
"I quite understand," Mariusz replied, accepting the bag of books back from the woman as she moved away from the check-out area to go and let her employee or employees know that she was leaving for lunch. His sharp eyed gaze had not failed to pick up the word "owner" on Maya's name tag. He waited at the check-out area for Maya to return. With a little luck perhaps his little 'party problem' would be solved in an hour or two.
In a few moments she had returned and was leading the way out of the shop, noticeably avoiding the revolving door which Mariusz presumed was really just as well. "I have no preference," he said, shrugging his shoulders slightly. "Like I said I really do not know this part of the city all that well, so I will defer to your good judgment."
"As for your question, I really could not begin to say. I live in a place that is a mutant haven. Still, I have often found that my shopping in the city goes much better when my clothing announces from the start that I have money. Would that it were not so, but it is. So, why fight it?"
"Neither country is far from my homeland, though I grew up much closer to the German border. Still, once you are on the continent it is super easy to find a train to wherever you want to go in a relatively short period of time," Mariusz said, neglecting to mention that he tended to simply fly wherever he wanted to go unless the flight was too long, like from California to Hawaii.
"That is a great thing about New York, no place is ever really too far away," he said, neglecting to mention that for him money was no object. Unless he wanted to buy something truly outlandish, like the New York Yankees. Then money might be an object.
"I know what you meant," the Czech man said easily. "Though I admit I do not know this part of the city all that well yet. I am still rather new here. Perhaps you would care to join me? In the wake of the riots it might help me get in the door too," he continued, offering a small smile as he passed the books over to Maya.
