The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"My name is not 'Feathers'," Mariusz said lightly, deciding that he would give breakfast to Andrea first. He flipped the pancake in the skillet over with a deft flick of his wrist while holding onto the handle of the skillet. "Tea and orange juice are available, help yourself," he continued. He had no intention of serving the woman at the moment since he was occupied with cooking though, under normal circumstances, he might have been a more accommodating host.
Checking the pancake and seeing that it was done he slid it onto the plate with the first and then added the sausages and some of the casserole to a second plate before tossing two more sausages into the skillet to pan fry and turning up the heat. As the new sausages began to sizzle he picked up both plates and set them both down in front of Andrea, the butter and syrup for the pancakes was already on the table.
"Thank you," Mariusz said, accepting the book from Maya and adding it to the Foster book already in his hands. "I admit," he said, shaking Maya's hand, "that the other book I am looking for is rather old. I am not truly sure if it is even still in print."
When she said what her name was he rolled that around in his mind, trying to place it. He was familiar with so many foreign names due to his background. He mulled it over in his mind, trying to place a nationality to it since Maya didn't speak with any discernible accent.
"Oh no, the pleasure is mine and yes, actually, I am Czech and your name is... Bulgarian, I think, or possibly Romanian," he said, shifting the weight of the two books in his arms slightly.
At just that moment his stomach chose to make a most objectionable noise that anyone nearby was sure to hear. "Pardon me," he said, looking a bit embarrassed. "It seems my stomach would like to remind me I have yet to eat lunch today."
And, just like that the boy and the cat woman were in the Mansion. And she had slammed the door, no doubt locking it. Even if she hadn't he was sure that she was waiting to attack when he came through the doors. It was painfully obvious. At that kind of range she would have every advantage too.
Did she think he was stupid?
Well, that was a dumb question. Of course she did. But, in the world of wits and intellect it was clearly the cat woman that played second fiddle.
Leaping into the air Mariusz flew to the second story of the Mansion and alighted softly on a balcony. As he recalled this room was empty, so no need to worry or be subtle about entering. Crossing the balcony to a sliding door that led inside Mariusz pushed open the door, not bothering to look inside first to see who might be in the room. It was supposed to be empty, after all.
"I can see that, I suspect you had something to do with it and this is a school, there is no liquor in the kitchen where the kids could get at it unsupervised," Mariusz said, narrowing his eyes at Megan and rising from checking on Andrea as the green woman scrambled back to her feet. He turned and went back to the skillet, pouring more batter into it and adding more chocolate chips.
"Good, but you still have not answered my question. Either of you. Do you want breakfast or not," he asked. There was more than enough for everyone, it would take a bit of time to fry up some more sausages, of course, but he was still cooking up pancakes and that would take long enough to fry up the needed sausage was well.
"Well, I suppose I am looking for any number of things," Mariusz said with a soft English accent, shrugging his shoulders slightly when the dark haired woman approached him. "At the moment though I am trying to locate a revised edition of Ronald Enroth's The Lure of Cults and New Religions and Charles Hodge's Commentary on the Epistle to the Romans," he continued, turning to face the woman properly as he closed the book he'd been perusing but continued to hold it in his hands.
"I am afraid, though, that the self help section would hold little interest. I already own several translations of the best self help book there is," he said, transferring Foster's work to his left hand so he could hold out his right. "Mariusz Kasparek," he said, making a proper introduction.
Mariusz yawned and stretched his legs, then he tightened his grip around Evelyn a little and latched his hands around his wrists. He yawned loudly again and then closed his eyes after finding the best spot in Evelyn's lap to use as a pillow. In a few more minutes he was fast asleep.
"Not germs, per se," he said, not turning to face Megan since he was busy cooking. "I merely mean to imply that it is unhygienic to drink directly from the carton. Rude is a good term for it. Others may wish to drink milk without also sharing, well, germs I guess." He checked the pancake, saw it needed more browning and left it be. Focused on his cooking as he was he completely missed the dancing spider and Andrea's response to it.
Until there was a loud thump.
Mariusz whirled around again and beheld Andrea passed out on the ground. "What just happened," he asked, removing the pancake from the skillet and then reducing the heat on the other skillets before going to check on Andrea.
Mariusz pushed open the door to the bookstore and stepped inside, folding his wings as he came through the door. He was immaculately dressed in a custom tailored black pin-striped three piece suit. As he entered the shop his eyes quickly adjusted to the darker interior lighting of the store, at least compared to the outside world. Noticing quickly that there were a number of children in the store the avian mutant made himself scarce, ducking behind a shelf of books in the Philosophy section and beginning to browse.
As he poked through the books, occasionally pulling one from the shelf and leafing through it, he regretted his decision to not get lunch before coming to the book store. In truth it was still lunch time, but by the time he finished here he was sure it would be closer to a late lunch rather than a true lunch. Looking through the shelf he pulled a copy of Richard J. Foster's Celebration of Discipline from the shelf and began to thumb through it, examining the contents.
Ok, so here's the deal, I've not done much with Talon's backstory yet, so we'll do something with it here. If I have any of this WRONG regarding characters let me know so I can correct it. If you're not involved and want to be let me know so we can figure out how to work it.
What I've got in mind is this, broken down point by point...
The Plot
1. Talon's father, the Czech Ambassador, is going to throw a big fancy party at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. Timeline this party will occur about a month AFTER the riots are done. This will be a very big how do you do... Ambassadors, Military Brass, U.N. Officials, Rich Folks... and I've indicated in one of the set-up threads that the President might even make an appearance.
2. The way to get to go is to be invited by someone on the guest list. Right now there are THREE characters on the guest list: Talon (his father is HOSTING the event), Evelyn (rich parents), and Alli (rich parents).
3. Talon is going to be told he HAS to have a DATE for this, so he'll be asking pretty much every woman he runs across that seems like an ok person to go. They will all reject him, though he will give each his phone number. This will lead to Talon hiring WereCat (not knowing it's her) to be his bodyguard with the intention of claiming she is his date. After WereCat has been hired several of the women will call Talon up and want to go to the party... so he'll wind up showing up with a LOT of "dates" because he's too nice to tell everyone he asked that they can't go after he invited them... that would be rude.
4. Evelyn is going stag, but will probably S.O.S. Forte at some point.
5. I think Alli is bringing along Forte and Saph... that is a think, not a know so ask her.
6. A limited number of people... may be given permission to crash the party, PM me or ask here for the details.
7. At the party there will be great chaos... and, I've been told, an exploding cake courtesy of one of Talon's many "dates".
Important Lists (will be updated as plotting occurs):
Talon's "Dates" and Bodyguard: Tses, WereCat, Andrea, Megan, Ghost, Cara, Paige, Butterfly, Alli (if she doesn't take Saph)
Possible others to be "dates" (these are the people I need to either ask about the plot or that I'm not sure what the final answer was):
Hymn (?), Aura (?), Kate Finch-Hatton (?)
Characters not involved (as far as I know, this can be changed):
Shinbo (both of them), Ami, Cafas
Others Attending:
Lori Faust is going as Donald Trump's Date.
Evelyn will be there. Stag at the outset, maybe adding Forte later.
Mahadevi is going, she has an invite by dint of her work with the Indian Embassy.
Alli is going, but I'm not sure if she's taking dates of her own or going with Talon. I think she's planning to take Saph as her date though.
Lenna, as head of Mondragon Labs, is on the invite list. She may be bringing Kaitlyn and Victoria with her.
Syn is probably going. She will bluff her way through the main entrance using her powers. She may be bringing Kaitlyn and Victoria with her.
Cassandra Lily Rayne is going, using personal contacts to get in.
Melissa Xilx is going as the booze caterer. Enders is entering the party with her.
Rupert is going to get in by bluffing past the guards as part of the Donald's retinue.
Ty and Rupert may be part of the party crashers.
Announcements
Party will be a Masquerade Ball. Formal dress with masks. High society. Fancy food. Live music of an instrumental and more generally sedate variety.
Weapons, other than powers, should be considered 100% prohibited. Security will be stringent, bags will be checked, metal detectors will be present at both the main entrances and the entrances that would be used by kitchen and serving staff.
I would ask that, once the party starts that the MAYHEM not ensue until I give the green light. However, once the green light is given you all can level the entire hotel for all I care provided that the Czech Ambassador isn't killed.
"Attack, no. Warn, yes. The cat woman on the other hand did attack me with a missile which, as you just witnessed, has been dealt with," he replied, indicating the second arrow he had fired into the tree trunk. Next thing he knew the guy had placed himself in the way. Like he had Stockholm Syndrome or something. There was just no helping some people.
And, just like that the cat woman was back on the ground and threatening to go find Evelyn. That simply wouldn't do. It wouldn't do at all. Mariusz drew the bow and fired an arrow in Sara's direction. It struck the ground well in front of her, by design, and buried itself deep in the earth.
"You are not going anywhere without me," he called out, drawing another arrow and then tucking his wings and diving to the ground while nocking the next shot, but not drawing the bow. Someone had to keep an eye on the nutty cat woman.
"She is not wrong, the spider will not hurt you," Mariusz said, having whirled around again when the other physical mutant in the kitchen had made all the hullabaloo about the spider before, just as quickly resuming his cooking. "I have more than enough here to share with a few others, though I must wonder if it is completely necessary that you drink straight from the carton. The cooking process destroys germs, but still..."
"Is there something I can help you with," he asked the new arrival as she began to wander around the kitchen rifling through everything. He flipped the pancake that was in the skillet and then flipped the sausages over and checked on the potatoes and onions in the skillet. "Mariusz Kasparek, by the way," he said, holding up the spatula and shaking it slightly and then returning to the cooking.
Convinced that he had made his point Mariusz fell silent and settled in. The drugs had taken hold enough that he didn't even notice that she had changed the channel from Iron Chef back to Storage Wars. He rolled back onto his stomach, he wasn't a big fan of laying on his back because of the wings. Settling himself again he wrapped his arms back around Evelyn's waist again.
"Yes," he declared, my feather's are lovely and soft and warm," he said, yawning loudly in he middle of the remark. He turned his attention on the television and yawned again, making sure to keep ahold of Evelyn. He wanted to be sure that when he woke up his pillow was still there in the morning.
"Dear boy," Mariusz said shaking his head a bit, "I never insult. I speak only the truth, that the cat woman there is terribly violent and willing to attack everyone she meets for no good reason that I can discern." He still held the arrow loose at his side. For the moment she wasn't attacking, so there was no need to shoot her.
"I am, of course, willing to not shoot you in the head. Provided, of course, that you apologize for your wonton destructive acts and assaults upon mine and Evelyn's persons." He continued to hover in the air, ready to fir if needed. "Such action would show a sentience on your part, rather than simply being a mindless sort of woman beast."
