The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After he had communicated via sign language with the cat woman once more he returned his arm around the blonde's waist and then turned his feet so he could use them to grasp the woman by each of her ankles. The less she moved while they were in the air, the better. "Wud d'you mean by 'mansion'," he asked. There were a great many buildings and places he would consider to be mansion's in the area so the blonde asking him to take her to "the mansion" wasn't the most helpful thing in the world.
"Aldo who are you," Mariusz asked, wanting a name to use for the woman. "I am Mariubs... Mary-yoobz... Maree-ubs...," he said, trying to say his name properly and failing. He thought for a moment, trying to come up with a name that was appropriate and that would work.
"You can call me 'Talon'," he said at last. "'ow badly are you hurd," he asked, choosing for the moment to refrain from mentioning the blonde's nearly indecent form of dress. After all, it was the beast's fault more than the blonde's.
After the scuffle with Sara, the lion-featured mutant, Evelyn was eager to get back to the mansion and get cleaned up. Part of her had hoped the ride would be quiet and uneventful, but even with a busted jaw her bird companion managed to interrogate her. She shouldn't have been annoyed: after all, he had stepped in to save her and was now giving her a ride home. But as humiliated as she was she felt awkward trying to talk to him when she was still rather ashamed with her behavior.
"The Mansion... the one outside of the city, where all the mutants live. I don't really know it by another name." Evelyn said slowly, trying to think of another way to describe it. The first time she went there Jensen had been driving, the second she traveled by mirror and that didn't give her much to go off of. Hopefully if they went in the general location she could locate it. If she didn't loose too much blood first. She tugged on her shirt, trying to keep the torn shoulder as together as possible. The last thing she needed was for the rest of the fabric to tear. That would make this much more embarrassing.
>>How badly are you hurt?
She thought she heard him ask. She tried to wiggle the fingers on her injured arm and flickers of pain ran up the bones. It certainly felt bad... "Nothing DocProf can't help with... It will take a bit to recover the blood I've lost though. Sara's claws went rather deep..." She remarked slowly.
"My name is Evelyn... Thank you Talon for trying to help. I... I'm still learning a bit about being more social with people." She tried not to look down, the sinking sensation of fear still in her stomach after falling so far last time they tried flying. She hoped a similar experience would never happen again. "I am quite sorry about your jaw though... DocProf should be able to fix it up without much problem though..."
"Ah dat manshun," Mariusz replied, nodding his head as he rose higher and higher into the air. "I know where dat is, I live dere," he said, reaching a height he was happy with at about a thousand feet off the ground. That was more than high enough off the ground where there shouldn't be too much that they would need to worry about.
"If you don' like hyds you shood clohds your eyes," Talon said, not sure if the woman had a fear of heights. Given their recent experience with a ground based opponent he assumed that Evelyn would see the logic in being well above the ground.
"As for you woodns and clodes," he said, shrugging his shoulders, "I dod hab much wite now. I odny hab dis," he continued, releasing his hold with one arm and using his talons to slice at what he was wearing. There was an audible sound of clothing ripping as he tore the shirt he was wearing along the shoulder seams. Replacing the arm around the woman's waist he repeated the same procedure with the other hand.
Tugging at the fabric he pulled the two halves of the shirt off and pressed them into into Evelyn's hands. It wasn't a perfect solution, but it was the only one he had that would allow them to stay airborne short of flying much much higher and dropping Evelyn while he dove and pulled off his shirt to give to her whole and in one piece. Somehow, he thought she would be less appreciative of the dropping option all things considered and he wasn't about to land for a even a moment. It was too dangerous.
"Dis ids nod much, bud id's all I gob ad de momend."

Evelyn felt relieved she didn't have to try to further explain herself. Trying to describe how to get to the 'mansion' would have involved lots of looking down and thinking, neither of which she really wanted to bother with at the moment. Mostly just the looking down. She never had a fear of heights before, but that was starting to settle in thanks to their flying--or rather falling--lessons. "I've just been staying there while the riots have been happening... I'm glad you know where we're going then."
Her stomach twisted a little and she took his advice and shut her eyes for a moment, trying to settle her nerves. "I didn't feel so worried before, but that was before... Just... I'll feel better on solid ground." She remarked finally.
When he started moving it certainly didn't help how nervous she felt, and then he handed her his shirt. Well, sort of. It was the thought that counted though, and she accepted it, trying to figure out how to put it on while still holding the quiver of arrows...
"Sowwy, I am nod udually one do hab slippwy fingews," Mariusz said. They wouldn't have crashed in the first place were it not for the crazed cat woman jumping on them and piling on more weight than he could lift. He would have thought that was obvious since they hadn't crashed until the cat woman had jumped on them.
"Sdupid cat added do much waid for me do cawwy," he groused, holding out a hand for the quiver while keeping Evelyn pressed against him with his other arm as they continued to fly in the direction of the Mansion.
"I can hold de quivew why you... uh... figew dat out," he tried to say diplomatically regarding the shirt. "When we ged babk do de Mansion I will ged you someding bedder," Mariusz continued, then he blanched realizing that when he had meant to say 'better' it had come out 'bedder' which might sound like 'bed her' because of his busted jaw.
"No, no nod bedder. Nod bedder ad all," he said quickly in a very nervous sounding tone. "I mendt bedder nod bed'der, no nod bedder!" He searched his English language knowledge for the right word that meant what he meant and would make sense with a bad jaw that mangled everything.
"Nod bedder, I don'd mean bedder I mean I will ged you someding more approbriad. Someding nod shwedded, someding mowr modest," he said quickly, hoping to explain that he absolutely had not meant anything like what 'better' had sounded like.
Evelyn nodded a bit but it didn't completely alleviate her fears. The ground looked so far away, and if a random mutant appeared and attacked them again, she wasn't sure she would be getting back up from that fall.
Fall. Her stomach turned again. She shut her eyes as Talon readjusted. Despite how uncomfortable she felt, she chuckled slightly at his panicked attempt to correct himself. "I understand you well enough, Talon, don't stress it so much. I know what you meant." She accepted the help with the arrows as she tied the shirt halves together, and then pulled it across her shoulder and torso in an almost sling like way. It covered enough to make her feel more modest, and put pressure on the cut shoulder to at least take some of the blood. She accepted the quiver back, and hoped that was enough readjusting for the rest of the flight. Each time he moved her she worried some more.
"You should try to take it easy talking. You don't want to make your jaw worse... I mean DocProf can probably fix it but it would still hurt a little until then.." She said aloud. She poked at one of the arrows in the quiver, trying to distract herself and get rid of the fear settling in her stomach. Meanwhile, the echos started identifying clouds in the sky around them. No more cows to be seen at least.
"I subbods dat ids twue," Mariusz replied, lapsing into silence for the time being, the steady beating of his wings the only noise as they soared through the air growing ever closer to their final destination. Within a few minutes longer the Mansion was in sight and he began to gradually decrease the height at which he was flying. Usually he'd just tuck his wings and drive almost straight down but he somehow expected that Evelyn would find that option to be completely unacceptable.
"I hab to led go ub your ayndkles now so we can land," Mariusz said, cinching Evelyn to him a bit tighter at the waist to hold her tight as he let go of her ankles when they were about thirty feet from the ground.
"You mide wand do clods your eyes," Mariusz continued giving the blonde a second or two to comply before tucking his wings and dropping the last little bit of space to the ground before shoving his wings back open with a snapping noise and grunting from the strain of the extra weight and then touching down gently on the ground.
"Now do ged your indjewies looked ad," he said, sweeping the blonde off her feet and back into his own arms before marching over to the Mansion's door and using a taloned foot to open the door since he had his hands full. "Anybody home?" he called into the entry way.

Evelyn relaxed for the remaining flight, trying to save her energy since she was still suffering from a bit of blood loss. The bruises she had acquired during the fight were making their presence known, and it took effort to ignore them. Then Talon announced they were going to land and she gave a nod, preparing for the eventual decent. It hurt a little bit to have the pressure on her ribs, but at least it didn't last long.
As they settled to the ground, Evelyn momentarily clutched the arrows tighter, trying to get rid of the spike of fear that ran through her, and then they were finally done flying.
Unfortunately, that didn't seem to be the end of Talon's help.
"Wait, you don't have to--" She was picked up again, and felt rather silly being carried into the school. She appreciated his help, but she also didn't want anyone to see her get dragged back to the mansion like this. She wasn't supposed to be out anyway. And with the school in lock-down, this was certainly not going to go over well.
Almost as soon as they stepped through the front door, a figure appeared around the corner. Thankfully, it was only DocProf, but a frown appeared on his face when he saw Evelyn in Talon's arms.
"The mansion is under lockdown. I'm sure you have a good reason for being outside during the riots, right Evelyn?" He spoke calmly, motioning towards the direction of the infirmary, but he seemed like a building storm ready to appear.
"She wads ad de sangduary in de cidy," Mariusz replied. "De one I volundeered to help prodecd. She lefd dere an I followed whewe she could nod see me. Good ding do," Mariusz replied, referencing the unpleasantness with the cat woman.
"Sdupid cat woman messed up my jaw," he said, scowling at the recent memory. "Bud Ebelyn is hurd wordse, seedo her firdst," he continued, indicating the blonde woman in his arms by holding her out just a bit before pulling her back in again.
"Lead de way. Medical, clean, clods, den I make someding do eat for us," he said, giving the clear indication that the blonde wasn't leaving his sight since she couldn't be trusted with that freedom. Somewhere in there he'd have to call Mahadevi and explain everything to her as well.

The doctor nodded slowly as they moved into the infirmary. He gave Evelyn a long look and his frown deepened. "Considering you were already here at the mansion, I have to say that is disappointing to hear. She shouldn't have been anywhere near the city."
Evelyn kept her gaze away from the grandfatherly figure, his stern disapproval burning like the hot sun on her skin. "I tried checking on my apartment. I didn't think--"
"You're right, you didn't. Set her there, please." DocProf said, motioning to the hospital bed for a moment. He waited until Evelyn was set down and scanned his eyes over her injuries. He gently prodded Evelyn to face the wall and then undid Talon's shirt that was strapped across her shoulder. It was fairly soaked in blood and the wound was still open. He went to work on the major cuts, and the frown only seemed to deepen. Evelyn made herself quite content staring at the wall. "Didn't think you were the sort to pick a fight. You're lucky the two of you weren't hurt worse."
She stared deeper. Maybe she could develop the ability to just disappear and avoid this conversation. "Talon is responsible for that... He made sure it wasn't worse..." Her injured forearm was mended and then the doctor stepped back. There were still a number of bruises and minor cuts, but he moved his attention to Talon instead.
"There's nothing serious left. Cuts have a way of teaching you kids you aren't invincible, and I don't think this incident is something you should forget quickly.
Mariusz set Evelyn down on the hospital bed as gently as possible, nudging it with his foot first to make sure the wheels were locked so it wouldn't go sliding away when he tried to set the blonde woman down on it. As the doctor began removing the impromptu shirt bandage that he had provided to Evelyn during the flight Mariusz turned his back to what was going on to afford the blonde some modesty. She'd been a bit indecent in the less than well lit outside world, but here under the lights of the of the Mansion. He was tempted to stand and watch the doctor patch up all of Evelyn's injuries, despite her indecent appearance. But, that would offend his own sense of decency and modesty as much, or more, than it would offend her's.
As he stood with his back to the scene the feathers on his wings, back, and arms rustled softly. Slowly he extended and stretched first his right wing and then his left before beginning to stretch out his back, shoulders, and arms which were all a little stiff from the night's exertions. It had the added benefit that it might make Evelyn feel that he wasn't eavesdropping on the conversation between her and the doctor.
When the doctor turned his attention to Mariusz the winged man waited with his back to Evelyn for the doctor to come around in front of him to continue to give the woman some sense of decency.
"Mosd of de pain ids hewe," he said, tapping the right side of his jaw were the jawbone connected to the skull and wincing slightly. "I do nod dink id is bwoken, jusd dislocated. Also id makes me sound sdupid."

The doctor looked at Mariusz's jaw for a momement then nodded in agreement. "You're right, it looks dislocated. And sounding stupid is unfortunate but at least it wouldn't have lasting damage. Just a moment..." He ever so carefully relocated the bird man's jaw by hand. If gently could really be a term used when moving someone's jaw.
Meanwhile, Evelyn busied herself adjusting her shirt so she could walk back through the mansion without feeling awkward. Her shoulder was still bare but at least she made it more modest. She's go take a shower and change into some clothes after this. She didn't have much to wear, just a few outfits other students lent her, so it was a shame this shirt was ruined as well.
Turning, she watched as DocProf used his healing abilities remove any bruising that was forming on Talon before stepping back. "Sorry, really the only way to do that. If you need some pain meds i can get you some. Otherwise, you are free to go. And I better not see you," he pointed to Evelyn "here for awhile. Stay out of trouble."
"Some pain medication would be greatly appreciated," the avian mutant said, rubbing his jaw with a hand and turning his head to he side so he could catch a glimpse of Evelyn to see how decent, or indecent she was. Her clothing was still in tatters, that simply wouldn't do to go walking through the Mansion where children and teens might see her state of dress, or undress as the case was. It wouldn't do at all.
"My thanks," he said, accepting a few pain pills from the doctor. "I assume, as with most things, these need to be taken with food and that I should not fly or operate heavy machinery for some time after taking them. May cause drowsiness, nausea, and odd behavior," he asked. The Czech man was quite familiar with prescription strength pain medication. Being hollow boned he'd broken a lot of bones in his life, especially when he'd been self teaching himself to fly.
"Come along," he said, scooping up Evelyn in his arms again. "You will not go walking around the Mansion in that state of dress," he continued, "but, I have a solution." The winged man folded his wings forward so that they hid Evelyn from view, everything but her ankles and feet while holding his wings low enough that he could still see over the top of them.
"We will shower and change clothes first," Mariusz said, nodding his head as he planned everything out. Obviously this blonde woman needed a chaperone and since he would shortly be taking pain medication he had self appointed himself to the task.
"Not together," he said quickly with a bit of a nervous laugh. "That would be, naturally, highly inappropriate on any number of levels," he continued, bobbing his neck a little which caused the cross hanging on a chain to swing out of his feathers where it was normally hidden.
"Then I will make us something to eat," he continued, placing extra emphasis on the word us. "I need to eat something to take my medication with. Also, it has been a very long night and I am hungry," he said, leaving unsaid that the reason he would have to do that was because of the blonde woman. "I will also get for you something more appropriate that you can wear, as promised. Shall we away?"

The doctor moved and unlocked a cabinet, then returned with a bottle and a small smile at Talon's remark. "I've advise against flight, yes. Just follow the instructions and don't take more than you need." He instructed. His expression managed to remain neutral when Talon approached Evelyn. It was something they could sort out for themselves.
Evelyn was not prepared for Talon to pick her up again. Suddenly, she felt less grateful, more trapped. It was like the bird man had made it his personal responsibility to keep her out of trouble.
She already got rid of one handler, she didn't need a new one!
"Talon, I'm fine, I don't need you to...nothing is showing, just my shoulder--" She tried to push his wing out of the way and her face turned crimson. And then he made the shower comment. Perhaps it was better to stay hidden now. "You should just go and take your meds and lie down and not worry about me." She considering just squirming from his arms and making a run for it, but didn't know if that would reveal just how low her energy was from blood loss. Running wouldn't do much good if she fell on her face halfway down the hallway.
"I still need to clean up first too, and I know you must also be hungry," Mariusz said, walking through the halls of the Mansion with the blonde in his arms. "The doctor also said you are to keep out of trouble. I will help make sure that happens. You have left two different sanctuaries, that would seem to indicate that you have some kind of odd predilection towards self destructive tendencies. Obviously, you need a babysitter and after I take my medication I will need a babysitter and since I need medication because of the night's events," he continued, tailing off as he carried the woman upstairs leaving unsaid that it was her fault he needed a babysitter later, though heavily implying it.
"Also, my name is Mairusz Kasparek not Talon, though that does have a rather nice ring to it now that I think about it. I also doubt you have ever had a gourmet meal... and I want to cook so someone has to eat it too," he continued, prattling on as he carried the woman into his room at the Mansion, being sure the door stayed open behind him. Using a taloned foot he pulled open a drawer and pulled out a black wife-beater t-shirt and t-shirt promoting the New York Islanders that was orange and blue and a pair of white sweat pants.
"Please stick your arm out through the feathers on my wing," Mariusz said, depositing the clothing in her hands when she complied and then pushing the drawer shut with his foot. "I was not sure what kind of shirt you would want, so I gave you choices. If you pull the draw string on the pants and knot it off they will work for you. Now, shower."
Mariusz walked back out of his room and used a taloned foot to open the door to the bathroom then he opened his wings enough that the doorway was clear and set Evelyn on the ground gently, averting his eyes as much as was possible. "I will meet you back here when you are done."
