The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena heard a voice. She jumped slightly and then instantly caught herself. It wasn't really that usual a thing around the mansion for people to be up late at night.
After all, how many people had she met at this sort of hour? Drew, Sophia, Victoria, Emerald. The list went on.
She turned to see a shadowy figure standing just out of the light, she had spoken in an extremely friendly tone. Made a nice change from Sophia. She smiled and replied. "Just some light reading, You? Oh! I'm Serena by the way."
While Kat ran off and the man began to edge away, she began speaking on a cell or something. Serena looked around. Good, nobody was around, or looking. She focused on the blood.
She had a theory. If she could manipulate the blood, it was probably some sort of telekinesis, so if she focused...
She began to glow slightly blue and made a connection with the blood. Yes... It was small but she could feel it. When she held the blood in her minds grip, she could feel... bumps in it. She figured it must be impurities.
Kat was returning. Serena released her hold on the blood and returned to normal before Katrina saw her. She turned to Katrina as she commented. "Yes... It is." Should she tell Katrina she might be able to do something?
But what if she freaked out at Serena's power? What if somebody else saw them?
She shifted about uneasily. "Katrina, I... I might.." Thoughts swirled Serena's mind like a hurricane.
Then one thing popped into her head, a mental image of her brother, smiling, reassuring her that she could do the right thing, and that she should do the right thing.
Serena's gaze shifted to something more... confident. "Katrina. I might be able to do something about this blood." Determination gripped the blonde haemokinetic now. She would fix this. Or at least give it her best shot.
Psychic? No, although it was probably entirely possible for him to have that as his mutation if he was a mutant, that didn't appear to be the case, it sounded like he was just teasing her.
He began apologising, but that didn't make it any less creepy that he could take one look at her and tell she was a mutant.
He then explained that he was one. That made more sense. Why didn't she think of that? It was the obvious explanation. There was rustling in the bushes, Jude looked at them and suggested that they vacate, offering to walk her home.
Serena shrugged, the tension in her shoulders melted away. "Sure. I mean, yes, thank you."
Serena was taken aback. Everything about Tses was so... Fragile, that was not like her at all. It was so... unsettling. She then spoke and Serena's mouth dropped.
"Oh my god Tses, I am so so sorry. I'd never be mad at you. I'm Serena, you pretty much saved my life and we're sorta friends." Serena's eyes sparkled while she spoke, the sincerity in her voice resounding through the creepy alley.
She gave Tses a warm smile and gently squeezed her arm. "Listen, if there is anything you ever need. I'm here, even if it's just to talk." Serena really felt the need to hug Tses, but she wasn't sure if it was appropriate.
"Thank you." Serena took a cookie and nibbled on it while drinking small gulps of water and reading. This woman seemed friendly enough, even if she was overly logical.
Serena smiled, a Physics professor. Things were starting to make a little more sense now. She didn't like getting her hands dirty? Serena found this amusing.
She nodded to Sophia. "It's true that Physics might have more obvious practical applications. But I enjoy biology, especially anatomy, I wouldn't go into something that I only found interesting when I could do something that I feel that I could truly enjoy doing."
Serena took a slow peaceful walk through the alley. It was wonderful. It was relaxing. IT WAS CREEPY!
Why was she here? This was where her brother had died, and where she had nearly been murdered and had activated her mutation for the first time. Where she had then killed the man who had killed her brother. She held her chest in a tight grip for a moment.
She hadn't meant to, and her brother would have known that and would have protected her, so to honor him, she carried on living.
That same night she had met- Wait, was that Tses? It was! She was leaning against a wall with shopping. DEJA VU!
She ran over to her with a smile on her face. "Tses! Heya!
Serena settled on "Endgame" And "Appeal To Reason" by Rise against. She had found herself listening to more and more rock music recently. She didn't know why, fast music combined with the lyrics and guitar that generally came with rock just felt... Right.
She carried on dancing as she picked them up and wandered over to the desk to see a smiling woman who kept glancing outside. She smiled and turned back to Serena. "That all? Ohhhh I like your taste." Serena grinned. "Yup. That is everything. And thank you!"
Serena's giggle was interrupted by a loud crash and loud noises outside. What was happening? She thought it was just a large crowd, not a bloody riot.
Serena did not like this man. He came across as incredibly rude, here she was, trying to help him and he was arrogant as to think that a bunch of thugs wouldn't pick a fight with him in the center of a cut off field with nobody around.
In a few seconds Serena heard the noise getting louder. But as the wind blew through her hair as she heard the man tell her to go home to the mansion. She froze.
How did he know where she lived?
More importantly did that mean he knew she was a mutant and did her know about her mutation? She looked taken aback, insulted, and taken aback.
She looked directly at him. And took a step back. "How did you know??"
Victoria seemed conflicted, but Serena was sure she was making the right decision. She was nearly 18, so she could certainly make her own decisions. She was also sure because of the nature of her mutation that she would be safer than a normal person.
"Exactly, I am your friend, you won't need to hurt anyone else and my blood will come back faster. Besides, we're both bound by powers of blood, that's gotta mean something, right?" Serena's sky blue eyes sparkled.
Serena felt an unbelievable wave of relief as Victoria did not reject her, she accepted her and then explained her own mutation.
Serena's eyes widened. That certainly explained her pains, and her eye colour also made more sense. The little girl was a Vampire, but not some monster that seduced others, a little girl who was forced to drink the blood of others because of her genes.
It wasn't fair. Why should humans get to live normal, happy lives, and this little girl had to drink others blood.
Serena gently squeezed the little girls arm. "That is why you feel sick, because you haven't fed. I'm so sorry I had no idea.
She felt so bad for the young girl. What would happen if she carried on without feeding? She would probably get worse! Serena couldn't let that happen.
She knew what she had to do. "Victoria. Feed on me, that way you won't need to accidently hurt anyone by taking too much, also, I'm probably safer to drink from than a random person."
So Serena's earlier thought had been correct, ish. Victoria's pain had been caused by her power. Serena grimaced.
She knew the feeling of a backlash for an ability she hadn't asked for. Both on the mind and on the body. "My mutation also has... sideffects on my body." Serena noted the way that Victoria hadn't quite explained it.
As if she was unsure whether or not she could trust Serena, and rightly so. Serena hadn't given her any reason to trust her yet. What if Serena was hurt and some body who she hardly knew and they asked her to explain her mutation to them so that they could help?
Serena would be incredibly suspicious. She probably wouldn't tell them. No, she definitely wouldn't tell them, she would be too scared of what might happen if they rejected her.
Serena bit her lip. She knew what she had to do. She took a shaky breath to steady herself. "Alright so... I figured, if someone was going to try and help me and it was because of my mutation, if I hardly knew them and had no reason to trust them, so I thought, why would you if I asked you. So here I am. Giving you a reason to trust me,"
Serena took a very quick breath before continuing her ramble. "Victoria, my mutation is... I guess you called call it Haemokinesis. As long as blood is outside of the body I can shape it, move it and change it's form... As far as I can tell. If I use it, it tires my out, if I overuse it, I seriously hurt myself,"
Serena continued "Oh, and I also think that like... Well, I know that... my blood seems to replenish a lot faster than an average person, doctors always just thought it was a coincedence, that my cells had been dividing more rappidly that day, but I think it's 'Cause I am a mutant.
Serena had just confessed her mutation to a little girl. Her mutation frightened her and she was terrified of rejection. "So what I'm saying is that you can trust me because I understand." She then quickly added, her voice quiet, "Please don't freak out."
Serena had been at the apartment again, she had been reading through her older brothers case notes on various things. It was slightly disturbing to read about the serial killers, and she was also fairly sure that he shouldn't have kept all of those files...
But, it provided her with a deeper insight into how her brothers mind worked. It was interesting, seeing how he deduced things. She knew that her brother was smart, when she was 14, she believed that he was the smartest man in the town, he could figure things out instantly and learned new things incredibly fast.
Serena had picked up the fast learning skill from her older brother, he had always been proud of how hard she worked with school, and she had always been proud of the way that he dedicated himself to his work, even though this meant that during school term, they couldn't see each other as much as they would have liked to.
She sighed as she walked through the streets on the way back from her apartment, it was getting late. She walked across the street, it was surprisingly quiet.
She saw a familiar alley and felt herself drawn to it. She walked up to it.
Serena was sitting in a chair near a window in a dark room, just enough light for her to comfortably read. She did like how quiet the mansion got late at night, probably because of it's sheer size.
She was wearing a sleeveless top and jeans. She had been reading under the dim light near the window for a few hours now, she wasn't sure quite what the time was.
Midnight maybe? Later? She didn't particularly care, it was a weekend, and she was enjoying her book. More importantly, she didn't want to go to sleep and be kept up anyway by vicious nightmares.
She turned the page, sitting in the dark alone. Well, with a little light. Serena was mulling over things that had happened recently, using her power for more than just protecting herself or even scaring herself. Maybe, just maybe, she could find a cause that would allow her to use it for the good of others.
Serena had decided that instead of spending the WHOLE of her Saturday studying, she would go shopping... Which she hadn't done in a long while, so her she was headphones over her head, dancing in a store with music while flipping through CD's.
She was wearing a sleeveless blue top and had a hoodie with her, but it was in her bag at the moment due to the heat in the mall, she had her blue hair pins in, her straight blonde hair a little past her shoulders, eyes sparkling with warmth. She looked like a very happy, very giddy teenage girl.
Rise against, Avril lavigne, Bon Jovi... there was so much here that she liked, the list went on for ages! Although they were having a 2 for 1 sale, so she figured she could pick the two she liked most and should grab them.
She could hear faint noises coming from outside, the mall had appeared rather busy as she walked through it, but Serena assumed that it was probably just because it was a Saturday afternoon.
The sound was slowly getting louder, but Serena dismissed it, it was probably just people getting busier, her attention was all currently focused on what she would be listening to this evening.
