The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Pen's are always good, you will go through a lot of them. Other then that not much" She said as most things she would need were already here. "How's Monday about noon?" she asked knowing the time would be when their would be less people at the bar and so she would be able to focus more on training her.
" I'll be training you, I like to do the training myself, I'll have your uniform by then, so just where black monday" she said. The uniform was a simple polo anyhow. Nothing complicated but with the bar logo on the chest.
"you'l shadow me a few days as i train you. The bottels with the ribben's toed to their neck's are my own brews. I tell people their brands from out west but their the ones i make. Not entirely legal" She said with a shrug. No one had gotten hurt by her liquer yet despite it not being checked by the goverment.

"Well some people will drink at any time and don't mind being passed out before noon. Not normally a good sign" she said after they had passed out of earshot of the man. She was not entirely sure what power the man had, but it was best not to find out while he was obviously very drunk. Making her Way to the back of the building, she pulled a card out of her handbag and swiped it, the steel door unlocked and Aura moved into the small room to allow Butterfly in as well.
The Safe, bolted to the wall, was the obvious reason for the heavy lock of the room. Searching through a few files, she pulled out various pieces of paper as well as a purple folder, then after adding what was slightly over a dozen pages, she presented it to Butterfly. "Usual annoying paperwork" she said, not really caring for it herself.
"The head chef is a grumpy ill spirited Raccoon. So don't take anything he says to heart." She said having had one or two less then thick skinned girls in the past cave to him. Chef's tended to be argumentative in her opinion anyway, but her's was bitter from his mutation.

"I can look, though we don't get much requests for that" She said not entirely sure they had any of that. She was not sure if they had anything like what he was asking for but grabbing the remote she attempted to look. She had never heard of any of the things she mentioned, but on the guide channel SHe found nothing of most of what he asked for but did manage to find Pilner Urquell. She had never heard of it either but if it made the man happy, she was cool with it.
"So i can get you a drink?" She asked, even as she scanned the bar, looking for anything that might prove dangerous, but the bar was quite. No fights, no overly drunk people and no fish mutant trying to crawl into the fish tank.
She smiled and failed to resist asking her next question but the bird like Mutant out of simple curiosity. "Sorry to be so direct, but can you fly with those wings?" she asked trying to make conversation and quite interested in the idea of flying under one's own power. Their was a certain allure to the idea of flight based travel that seemed majestic in her mind.

"It can be" she said with a smile but decided to elaborate later. It would be easier at the bar, where her self made brew's were. It was a good part of the reason she chose running a bar, the other was her love of people.
"Good you should do fine then," she said as a few minutes later they entered a lower end area, in that, much of the area around the bar was vacant. The Bar itself had a bulky look to it. from the outside, as she had the place built to withstand some serious punishment. The Neon Shadows Light sign looked somewhat duller in the day time.
"Area's not as bad as it look's" She said as a Mutant who looked like he was part Squirrel staggered out of the door and walked off. As she lead her new found Employee in, she saw the bar was mostly empty. "We don't really get going till the night time, although..." her voice stopping as they passed by a very drunk man, who kept sobbing about his wife leaving him. The man's wife, Melissa had found out had left him five years earlier.

It took her a moment to consider the implications of what she was told. A drop of her blood had made her brothers arm go numb. She could only imagine a half decent knife cut and resulting issues if things were not caught entirely. She had a fair point and besides she had mentioned the reason's Melissa did her job, meeting people.
The fact she could turn into a butterfly sounded pretty. Melissa liked butterfly's and she had never seen anyone with a mutation that involved them before or any insects now that she thought about it. "Sound's Pretty" she said still picturing it in her head.
"Any water that touches my skin, changes to alcohol, nice when you want a drink, not so nice when you want to shower" she said shaking her head slightly. She supposed their was few mutations better suited for her, but how nature had known she would never have guessed. Still it was annoying in many ways.
"The thing with bar tending or being a waitress, is you make less then minimum wage, in your paycheck. However almost all your money will come from tips. Unlike most job's you will go home with money every night and most of it's not taxed, and it can be very good money" she said as they talked she she finished shopping, having only a few bags.
Her car was a 98 Sunfire, the black car looked a bit beaten but it decent shape for a car as old as it was. "TO be honest the biggest part of the job is listening and knowing how to pet an ego when needed" she said with a smile. The right work could double a tip with some people and once you knew them you learned where to press.

The bar was semi busy, busy enough where her Raccoon Chef had actually delivered a few trays of food himself. Melissa reminded herself not to do so again unless the alternative was the bar blowing up. Still it was nice to see the bar like this. Slowly More people were coming to the bar every week as word caught on. Her dream was around her, loud and drunk.
The man entering caught her attention right away and Melissa mused about a how him being a 6 foot tall bird man was not the strange part. No the odd part was the suit, as it as rare for the bar for anyone wearing suit to enter. Still money was money she thought to herself and people who wore suits usually had plenty.
Walking up to the bird man and he took a spot at the bar she shook her head. "No, sorry NHL is on lockout, they say the entire season could be lost" She said not caring to much about hockey, but knowing enough to carry on a conversation. You learned to pick things up in a bar and a basic understanding of sports let some people open up.
"My name is Melissa, can i get you anything else? We got a pretty good sports package here" she offered, setting a remote to the nearest tv before him. She had little idea why the NHL was on lock out but she assumed it was about money, it seemed a good guess.

Melissa considered the girl's offer and wondered for a moment if she knew what she was asking for. Not being able to drink limited her a little but a good worker could always be useful. "I can use the help, but you are considering that your asking to work in a place frequented by heavily drinking mutants" she said mentioning mutants only because of their powers which meant some could be dangerous.
"What do you want to do, work with people or cook? she asked. She was trying to probe a bit into the girl's skills. The Raccoon mutant was her only real cook, but another bartender would give her some more freedom away from the place.
"I can do that, you drive? If not i have a car" she said. with a smile. She picked up a case of Pepsi on their way past. Then she recalled what she had been looking for, she begged several dozen lemons and put them in the cart as well.
"Most of the staff are Mutant's but none of have powers worth mention. We mostly lie, drunks don't recall much clearly" she said honestly. It worked well to, as no one on the staff could really do much harm, unless you counted Jupiter playing Bouncer on a night she needed the power house. But he liked to drink more then bounce and Melissa was as happy to take his money as she was to pay him.
"I just need.... Light bulbs, you?" she asked, not at all sure of what the girl was looking for other then the parsnips. SHe silently thanked the silence of her phone, it meant the bar was still standing, a very important thing when hiring.

"Well any age can go, but to drink you have to be 21" she said unsure if the girl was old enough. Shew hated to turn away money but she did not want to take more risks then she was already. A job however was another story entirely. "What kind of work do you do before?" she asked curiously. She could always use help and inquiring about skills was helpful.
"This city is huge, so easy to get lost in" she commented. She had a decent sense of direction "Bar's tend to be loud places where people come to celebrate or cry. Gives people a place to get away to when things are to much or for a party." she said finding it hard to describe what a bar was like. Had she been in them that long it all seemed so common?

She smiled as the other customer walked up to her and after grabbing a few of the vegetables herself, educated the bartender on them and what they were. Even though she had found them on accident she felt it best to be polite. "Thank you chl...Butterfly" she said correcting herself. Having worked in a Mutant bar she knew most mutants preferred their chosen names. She assumed butterfly was a mutant do to the name, amazing how the idea of nicknames had flown from her mind. She considered getting one herself but she never had done so.
"I am Melissa" she said having no mutant name to give. "I run a bar not to far from here actually. A mainly mutant bar" she said with a smile. She had no idea if the girl was old enough to drink, but a little shameless advertising could not hurt. She was also not entirely sure what to day.
"I am new to the city as well, been here a few months, before that i lived all the way in Cali" she said missing her old home just a bit but knowing for better or worse NYC was now her home for quite some time and she really had no reason to go back. Brushing some of her locks out of her eyes, she begged her parsnips decided to try them when she got home, or mroe likely when she returned to the bar.

Out of the bar, Melissa had left to do some food shopping, for herself. She had at last gotten tired of bar food and so wanted to make a home It felt good to be out her normal bar attire as well, even if it was for a sweater, jacket and jean's. She had no idea what she wanted really in the supermarket, though she smirked at the booze aisle. Pushing the cart in front of her, she looked down to realize the only thing's she picked up were drink mix's. Putting them back she forced herself to focus on her and not work.
She made her way to the produce section and saw that other then one other person the area was relatively abandoned. Looking around she realized she still had not decided what she wanted to eat. "Maybe i should have just eaten pizza" she said as she picked up a carrot looking thing called a parsnip. she had a vague idea of what it was, but was not much of a cook herself.
Holding the strange looking carrot up a bit higher, her eye caught the parsnip sign. she assumed they likely tasted like carrots. " what is a parsnip?" she asked herself glancing back at the vegetable, loud enough for the other in the section to hear though she did not mean to be that loud. Maybe she would just order out she considered again, thinking maybe the food she normally ate at her bar would be deiffrent somewhere else.

Well she no trouble understanding searching for ones child, she was unsure how she felt about a pet spider the size of a dinner plate. Her mind played a cartoon of her crushing it with a pan. While she did not mind spiders normally, she found her opinion changed when it came to dealing with ones that could fight a house cat. "What's something like that eat anyway?" she asked imagining the thing eating a rabbit or something. She really hoped the giant spider did not eat bunny's.
"Thanks, that helps" she said, wishing her parents had been at all accepting of her career choice. They had been right that her occupation was likely to eventually get her hurt, but so far it had gone pretty well.
Which carried her into Nate's next word's. He lived by this lovely park and could tell from where she lived and the rent there, this place could not possibly be cheap. She wondered just how much teachers got paid vaguely. "Must be lovely waking up to such a vein each morning" she said, looking around. It sure beat where she lived, she was fairly sure somthing shady went down oin her block but kept her nose out of it.

She was about to respond when Nate, suddenly put his coat around her. The effect on her skin was immediate and the retained warmth of the jacket might have helped a fair amount to. She was glad she had decided to take the night time walk with him. He was a gentlemen, a rare find in her opinion and she found it hard to place in her mind, how his girl friend had let him go. She reminded herself that she did not know Nate Terribly well and then only from his bar visits. "Thank you" she said before she forgot.
"Really? That seems like a strange power. Nature really knows how to make life interesting" she said as they walked. "I hope she found somthing constructive to do with her powers?" she asked really hoping she had. Many mutants seemed to have th need to try and rebel against humanity, but they were all just human anyway and their were deeper issues with those ideas.
"you come here a lot?" she asked curiously as the park came into view. She had not found the time to come here despite wanting to. She glanced at her friend with a smile.
"My parents have no idea i'm a mutant, not that i could tell them really" she said shaking her head with a mischievous smile. "My parents put away a large sum of money for my collage fund which became mine not to long agao, they were unimpressed in my choice to build a bar" she said honestly. Her parents had not spoken to her since and she had no idea how they would react anyway.

Well she stepped out of the bar and it so far was still attached to the ground. Her sense reminded her just how often she had been at the bar. She was stunned the smell of liqueur and smoke was absent in the air.. "A good idea, " she said as she watched a colorful feathered mutant walk into the bar. Melissa smiled, normally the other bartenders pushed the guy on her, do to his colorful personality. She wondered if her cellphone was already ringing, then cast the thought from her mind with a bit of effort.
"It is a bit cold, i'm happy it's not raining though she said agreeing with him. Rain was annoying, she had never minded it before her mutation. The Bar stayed warm do the bodies and the kitchen and she had not quite realized how cold it was outside.
"Thank you for getting me to do this, Managing is like babysitting" she said shaking her head a bit, realizing she had just brought work back up. Sorry....I mean..." she searched her mind despretly for anything else to talk about. "The city is lovely at night" she said looking over the lit building as they went, shivering slightly as the wind blew a bit harder.

She considered his word and his offer for a moment. It would be wonderful to get out of the bar and she thought to herself, if someone really wanted to destroy the bar what was she about to do? SHe could try and bribe them with booze but short of that she had no more control over this place then her staff. All were mutant's but most lacked any power that could be used to fight much less stop a pyro from melting more then a tv.
"Hey Nica, the bar's yours for a few hours, if your survive and the fire department is not here, you'l get a bonus" she said before her mind had time to figure out her plan. Had many others made the offer she might have made an excuse not to, but Nate seemed like a good guy and it helped he was cute. Though she felt guilty at the thought as he had just broken up with someone.
"That sounds wonderful, give me a minute" she said offering a cute smile before she turned away and headed for a door in the back, Labelled Managers office. Once incide she grabbed her purse, wrote down a few notes for Nica. She then tossed her cell phone on the counter, knowing with it on her she would never really leave the bar. She checked her appearance in the mirror quickly, retouched her lip gloss and A few Minutes later she walked back out on the same side of the bar as Nate. "I'm ready, had to leave a few notes behind" she said knowing her bartender could do the job, likely even without her help. It was not easy to dispell the dooms day scenarios in her head but she did her best.
