The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Melissa was unable to suppress a slightly shocked look, as a huge red pile of muscle walked through the door. The man looked strong enough to lift the bat and throw it to her Parents house so they could tell her, they told her so. Keeping herself mostly professional she walked over to red Man as he sat down. The man asked for their best and Melissa turned and considered for a moment, her fingers brushed over a bottle of gray goose, but with a moments hesitation before setting it down again, Instead she withdrew something else, the bottle was labeled Gray goose as well, but this had a purple band wrapped tight around the neck and a Number 7.
"It's not goose, it's stronger" she said with a bright smile, getting out a clean glass and setting it in front of her first Customer. The Number seven had always been a hit back home, despite it's lack of FDA regulations. She made the stuff personally, it was a harder to make, as her powers were not always exact. The 90 proof Alcohol she was giving the man, had a taste of cherry in it. She then cracked open a can of red bull, and added a small amount to each glass, a pair of ice cubes and the rest was filled with strong smelling liquor. "This one's on the house by the way, My Names Melissa and yours?" she added, a happy customer tended to return.
"Well it was suppose to be poetic, because, mutant feel they have to hide themselves. It's why i chose this place, for reason's people seem..... reluctant to discuss, data shows their's a large number of Mutant's in the area, i want to give them a place where they can be themselves, outside of their home. she said honestly. Making money while she was at it was part of it as well, but she felt that part likely did not need to be said.

It was at last open, the Shadow's Light bar, neon sign lit the window as well as various other bar signs. She smiled the, Bar top was polished well enough she could have done her hair in he reflection. Looking around, her eyes looked over the four brand new pool tables, as well as an ATM machine and a dart board. On the other side were Booths down one wall and some tables, but the Large U shaped bar that divided the bar almost in two, dominated the view. Behind her Dozens of Bottles of liquor were neatly placed in a central Island that contained the Registers. Several Fifteen inch Tv's were scattered around the bar based around the overhang, that also brought lighting to the bar. The one poor thing about the place had been it's location next to a large abandoned building. Well the building itself looked fine, it Cast the place in Shadow. She had Used Lighting to brighten the place up. To Melissa the bar, Her bar, was a thing of beauty.
Her parents had not been receptive of the idea, their daughter had drained the fund put aside for her for collage had been redirected to building a bar in of the more expensive places one could live. Well the Bar was open she was the only person there other then the cook. Funding had not aloud for much advertising, so she was not expecting to much business today. "I hope this was a good idea" she muttered to herself, as she unpacked shot glasses complete with bar logo on them, coasters as well. She looked back at her cook, he was a very obvious Mutant, he looked half way between a raccoon and a human.
Leaning back against the inside of bar, she glanced out the front window. She had gotten a place near an area where mutants tended to be in more abundance. SHe had seen few Bars themed for mutant and was hoping to start one, both to hear the stories of her patrons and because to her it seemed profitable. Her Mother and Father had told her it was suicide. The Reinforced wall's had not reassured them at all. "I'll need a bouncer" she said tilting her head. She was an optimist but she also knew drunk people often did stupid thing's and the fact that some might be able to level the building, was a parental warning that echoed in her mind. She also knew she wa snot the strongest five foot tall girl around either.
She smiled, despite what her power might imply about her, she drank little, on purpose. Her parents had been preening her to be a doctor, she understood what her power would let her do to her own insides. Still she grabbed a Bottle labeled gray goose and poured two shots, handing one back to the cook, and toasted him. She then drank the shot quickly with a smile. "It's a great day, MY bar is open" she said, taking pride in the fact she was at least open.

MutationsTouch of Alcohol
Mutation description: Melissa’s skin Turns water into Liquor upon touch. When Conscious of the touch, Melissa can affect the Proof of the Alcohol her touch produces to a degree. If she does not however know of the touch, her body makes it Roughly 8 Proof, or that of a standard Beer. Her touch however cannot affect Salty waters like ocean water or sweat. She cannot turn this power off and so any water she touched turns to Alcohol. In large bodies of water, like a pool, only the water in direct contact with her skin is changed. Her power can also affect a liquid where water is the dominant ingredient. She could turn the water in a Gatorade to alcohol but this is harder.
Strengths:She has a ready supply of Alcohol almost any time she wants it and can sell it to people at entirely profit. She can also clean wounds with it. Upon touch she can decide the relative proof of the Alcohol made. Once this choice is made she cannot change the result. Her power is also always active and requires little effort on her part to use. She could eventually create a swimming pool full of fine alcohol simply by swimming laps. She could also take a PowerAde and make it into an alcohol power aide flavoring mix for example. Melissa can still get drunk but her power has given her a healthy tolerance over the years. She has also made considerable profit with her created Alcohol as it costs her almost nothing to make.
Weaknesses: Since her Skin turns any water she touches into Alcohol, Melissa has a hard time with some of the simpler things in life, Like showers. Since the water turns to booze as soon as it touches her skin. Melissa uses a large salt water aquarium for bathing for this reason. Melissa is also prone to dehydration as any water that touches her lips will turn basically into beer and she cannot eliminate the created Alcohol proof below 2 proof. Even the skin in her mouth will turn water into Booze. She cannot control the created booze in any way, once it is made it stays that way. When it rains or she tries to swim, she ends up smelling like a Bar. Her powers will not affect salty water like the ocean or sweat. Her power gives her no help at all in a fight all. To control the proof of the booze created Melissa must be ready for the water to touch her as it happens and so while not largely energy consuming, creating higher proofs takes more concentration. Melissa can not entirely control the proof she makes, if she intends to make 50 proof alcohol she might actually make any ware from 45-55 proof instead. A Liquid Must be over 90% water for her to effect it Secondary mutation description: N/A Strengths:N/A Weaknesses: N/A
Fighting Style Talk it out! Or Run.
Explanation: She would rather avoid a fight if she can. She would run from most fights other than to defend her bar. Bar tending for a number of years has taught her to throw a solid punch however her main weapon in a fight would be to try and talk the attacker down from the fight. She has even bribed people to leave peacefully by making them a small batch of higher proof liquor.
Pros for fighting style: People, even drunks are surprisingly disarmed by the offer of free liquor and a solid right punch to the nose can help to.
Cons for fighting style:She is not very strong or particularly fast. If her last ditch offer of booze does not sate her attacker and she can’t run away, she probably will lose most altercations.

History Of Your Character Melissa was a helpful and bright young woman and all through school helped others when she could, from tutoring to just being there to talk. Though by no means popular she hung out with a wide verity of people all through School. Upon graduation she got an apartment and a job as a waitress, where she started gathering money to go to college. Enjoying the job so much, she decided against going to collage at all. She was a supporter of Mutant equality though was against the idea that Mutants should become the human masters.
Melissa discovered her power one day when taking a trip to Florida. Spending hours in a pool with other spring breakers, someone tasted the water she touched and realized it was almost like beer. Pretty sure this had not been the case when she got into the pool, she instead assumed it was just a joke someone was playing. When she went to shower that night, she found the water from the shower head, was also alcoholic. Frustrated on what she perceived was a furthering of the joke, she decided to use her friends shower who was in the hotel room next to hers and after getting confirmation it was water, she tried this shower as well. Much to her annoyance she found the same effect. Believing her friend to be in on the joke, she demanded the other girl come into the bathroom and checked the water.
Checking the shower head her friend found only water but did notice a strong scent of alcohol. Testing the tub water her friend found that indeed it was Alcohol, lacking any other explanation, her friend suggested she might be a mutant. Ignoring this and believing it to be something she may have done on break, she returned home. Once Home she discovered much to her great annoyance that the facet water and shower water were the same as at spring break. Walking in to work she was promptly fired for smelling like a mini bar.
Unemployed Melissa began to work at using her power and over the next few months discovered she could make stronger alcohol. With this power she catered a number of parties however she passed out after the third one. Waking up in the hospital the doctor confirmed she had dehydrated from lack of water and what he thought was too much alcohol consumption. Released from the hospital, Melissa obtained a business license and decided to move to NYC to start a business and to start fresh. Having heard of the Xavier's as well and wondering if they could help her control her power she made the move, even braving an airplane, which she got very airsick on.
Roleplay
Where did you learn about this site?: Aura, my first character, in her infinite wisdom Showed me the place. Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who:The Cute and cuddly Aura Sample RP:
As Melissa looked around at the building, she had made sure the builders had started fresh. Having researched the Area and the local bars when she got there she had found the location she had chosen had an unusually high number of Mutants living there. There was also a place called sanctuary relatively close by. She had a vague idea it was a homeless shelter for mutants but wanted to visit it once things were settled. Shaking her head, she took an offered clipboard and signed her name to it. Melissa had asked the crew to make the building with hurricane forces in mind. She wanted to ensure it would handle its mutant occupants quite well and as in any bar violence was not only possible it was at some point likely.
Running her fingers over her curled hair she knew it would still be a week or two before the bar was up. Waving to the construction foremen she walked out of the forming bar and looked around the neighborhood. It looked a bit run down but it was not the worst neighborhood she had seen. Sniffing her skin, she was happy the floral perfume she wore mostly hid the usual smell of liquor on her body, her fish tank she used to bathe had not been delivered yet and so it had been several days since she had a normal shower. She did not like smelling like happy hour all day, she recalled
Walking down the street, she saw a man with a cardboard sign. The Man was large, heavily muscled and clearly had seen better days. When she got close he flashed the sign, and she flashed a smile. Wanting to help the man, she reached into her purse and gave the man a $20 bill before speaking up. “I am the owner of the new Shadow’s Light bar, if you need a job” she offered the man who looked slightly interested. Instead of thanking her, the man reached for her purse and attempted to steal it from her, only her tight grip prevented the man from a quick escape and Melissa did the one thing she knew to do in the situation, she screamed.
