The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Butterfly woke up in the apartment that Ty had shown her. He was gone, but he said that he would be back and she kept focusing on that promise to keep herself from crying. She didn't want him to leave, but he had to go check on his girlfriend. He'll be back. She hoped.
Once she woke up a bit, she thought to herself "I'm hungry. And Ty didn't show me where a market was earlier. Oh well. Guess I'll just have to find one myself. Maybe I can find the apartment when I get done"
She walked out of the building and looked around. She thought she could see a few buildings that were really lit up. That's where she headed. It looked like that's where all of the city's shops and businesses were anyway. She kept walking until she got to all the buildings and lights. She was astounded by the size of the area. She just decided to pick somewhere and start there. The first building she past was a huge shopping mall. "Nope." she said to herself. The next one she past was a little boutique that sold clothes and other knickknacks for decorating a home. "Definitely not gonna find food there." she said. She rubbed her stomach and heard it growl at her. She kept walking past building and building, she was starting to feel disheartened when she finally found a grocery store.
The moment she saw the building, her eyes lit up and she smiled. She walked inside and grabbed a basket and began to walk over to the produce section. She began to grab a bunch of carrots that still had the greens attached to them and put them in her basket, she also grabbed some celery as well. She then began her hunt for parsnips. She began to look closer in the produce section. They looked a lot like carrots, but most supermarkets seemed to confuse the two. "Where could they be?" she thought, still looking for them.

Out of the bar, Melissa had left to do some food shopping, for herself. She had at last gotten tired of bar food and so wanted to make a home It felt good to be out her normal bar attire as well, even if it was for a sweater, jacket and jean's. She had no idea what she wanted really in the supermarket, though she smirked at the booze aisle. Pushing the cart in front of her, she looked down to realize the only thing's she picked up were drink mix's. Putting them back she forced herself to focus on her and not work.
She made her way to the produce section and saw that other then one other person the area was relatively abandoned. Looking around she realized she still had not decided what she wanted to eat. "Maybe i should have just eaten pizza" she said as she picked up a carrot looking thing called a parsnip. she had a vague idea of what it was, but was not much of a cook herself.
Holding the strange looking carrot up a bit higher, her eye caught the parsnip sign. she assumed they likely tasted like carrots. " what is a parsnip?" she asked herself glancing back at the vegetable, loud enough for the other in the section to hear though she did not mean to be that loud. Maybe she would just order out she considered again, thinking maybe the food she normally ate at her bar would be deiffrent somewhere else.

Butterfly was still looking when she heard someone speak. She turned her head and saw a woman, not too far from her in the produce section, holding up a parsnip and she had heard her ask what it was.
Butterfly walked over to where she was and grabbed a few from the section and placed them in her basket. "They are a root vegetable related to carrots, but they are sweeter and slightly spicy. Thanks for finding them for me. I've been looking all over the produce section for them. Most supermarkets that I've gone to before either don't have them or get them confused and put them as a different type of carrot."
"I'm Butterfly. Chloe's my actual name, but I like Butterfly so much better. I'm kinda new to New York City. And you are?"

She smiled as the other customer walked up to her and after grabbing a few of the vegetables herself, educated the bartender on them and what they were. Even though she had found them on accident she felt it best to be polite. "Thank you chl...Butterfly" she said correcting herself. Having worked in a Mutant bar she knew most mutants preferred their chosen names. She assumed butterfly was a mutant do to the name, amazing how the idea of nicknames had flown from her mind. She considered getting one herself but she never had done so.
"I am Melissa" she said having no mutant name to give. "I run a bar not to far from here actually. A mainly mutant bar" she said with a smile. She had no idea if the girl was old enough to drink, but a little shameless advertising could not hurt. She was also not entirely sure what to day.
"I am new to the city as well, been here a few months, before that i lived all the way in Cali" she said missing her old home just a bit but knowing for better or worse NYC was now her home for quite some time and she really had no reason to go back. Brushing some of her locks out of her eyes, she begged her parsnips decided to try them when she got home, or mroe likely when she returned to the bar.
"You're Welcome, Melissa" she said, listening to Melissa's profession. She had never really been one to go to a bar. Even though she was 19, she had never been to a bar and being a person of her age, she kinda wanted to go to one sometime. She didn't know if her brother would go with her, but she's like to check it out. See if it might be fun to go to.
"How old do you have to be to get in? And what's it like? I've never been to a bar and haven't been in the city long enough to really have a job just yet. I'm from Macon, Ga." she said to Melissa.

"Well any age can go, but to drink you have to be 21" she said unsure if the girl was old enough. Shew hated to turn away money but she did not want to take more risks then she was already. A job however was another story entirely. "What kind of work do you do before?" she asked curiously. She could always use help and inquiring about skills was helpful.
"This city is huge, so easy to get lost in" she commented. She had a decent sense of direction "Bar's tend to be loud places where people come to celebrate or cry. Gives people a place to get away to when things are to much or for a party." she said finding it hard to describe what a bar was like. Had she been in them that long it all seemed so common?

"Well I could definitely come, but not old enough to drink just yet. And I've never really worked before, but I was filling out job applications for anywhere that was hiring. If you think that maybe I could get a job there, I could come by and interview or you could teach me what I needed to know for the job."
She kinda liked the idea of going to a bar. At least she would get to meet new people and could make money. "So do you wanna show me where it is after we get done in here?" she asked, starting to walk around the store. She looked down at her basket and figured she was done shopping, but saw that Melissa wasn't done shopping at all. Maybe if they walked around, then she would remember what she had came in here to get. Butterfly was happy that she was meeting new people. She had met a guy who turned out to be her half brother and was attached to already and she had met another young woman in the grocery store. She had never really been called a mutant before and never really realized that she was one. She knew she was definitely different, but she was still figuring out everything with her powers and how to control them. But she definitely liked that she had found people that were like her and the word mutant is one that she was starting to really embrace. She was different and she was proud. Now, just to really understanding it. That would be the next step for her.

Melissa considered the girl's offer and wondered for a moment if she knew what she was asking for. Not being able to drink limited her a little but a good worker could always be useful. "I can use the help, but you are considering that your asking to work in a place frequented by heavily drinking mutants" she said mentioning mutants only because of their powers which meant some could be dangerous.
"What do you want to do, work with people or cook? she asked. She was trying to probe a bit into the girl's skills. The Raccoon mutant was her only real cook, but another bartender would give her some more freedom away from the place.
"I can do that, you drive? If not i have a car" she said. with a smile. She picked up a case of Pepsi on their way past. Then she recalled what she had been looking for, she begged several dozen lemons and put them in the cart as well.
"Most of the staff are Mutant's but none of have powers worth mention. We mostly lie, drunks don't recall much clearly" she said honestly. It worked well to, as no one on the staff could really do much harm, unless you counted Jupiter playing Bouncer on a night she needed the power house. But he liked to drink more then bounce and Melissa was as happy to take his money as she was to pay him.
"I just need.... Light bulbs, you?" she asked, not at all sure of what the girl was looking for other then the parsnips. SHe silently thanked the silence of her phone, it meant the bar was still standing, a very important thing when hiring.
"Yeah I considered that as well, but I'm pretty sure I could do it as long as I don't have to go at it alone." And I'm pretty sure you don't want me to cook. I got cut earlier and my half brother just got a little of my blood on his finger and his whole hand went numb. I don't wanna think about what could happen if some of it was ingested by mistake. So I'd rather work with people. At least then, I'd get to meet people and if it does get dangerous, then I have a means of escaping. I can change into a butterfly, hence my name."
She continued to walk with Melissa. "Nah, I don't drive. I used to use the public transportation all the time when I was in Macon." When she mentioned lying to the drunks, Butterfly nodded her head in agreement.
"So what kinda powers do you have?" Butterfly asked, assuming that she was mutant as well. Butterfly shook her head when Melissa asked if she needed anything else and started to walk in the direction of the light bulbs before then heading to the check out.
"Oh, by the way, how's the pay? Do you make pretty good money being a bartender?" she inquired.

It took her a moment to consider the implications of what she was told. A drop of her blood had made her brothers arm go numb. She could only imagine a half decent knife cut and resulting issues if things were not caught entirely. She had a fair point and besides she had mentioned the reason's Melissa did her job, meeting people.
The fact she could turn into a butterfly sounded pretty. Melissa liked butterfly's and she had never seen anyone with a mutation that involved them before or any insects now that she thought about it. "Sound's Pretty" she said still picturing it in her head.
"Any water that touches my skin, changes to alcohol, nice when you want a drink, not so nice when you want to shower" she said shaking her head slightly. She supposed their was few mutations better suited for her, but how nature had known she would never have guessed. Still it was annoying in many ways.
"The thing with bar tending or being a waitress, is you make less then minimum wage, in your paycheck. However almost all your money will come from tips. Unlike most job's you will go home with money every night and most of it's not taxed, and it can be very good money" she said as they talked she she finished shopping, having only a few bags.
Her car was a 98 Sunfire, the black car looked a bit beaten but it decent shape for a car as old as it was. "TO be honest the biggest part of the job is listening and knowing how to pet an ego when needed" she said with a smile. The right work could double a tip with some people and once you knew them you learned where to press.
"Thanks. I'm still working on trying to control it." she said to Melissa. "Yeah that wouldn't be great for a shower, but at least it comes in handy for bar tending, maybe?" she smiled still walking around with her.
"Well some money is better than no money at all and I'm a great listener and can comfort people when needed." she said, smiling back at her. She hoped that she would be good at this job. She thought it might be fun and interesting. Maybe she'd be able to make it here after all on her own.

"It can be" she said with a smile but decided to elaborate later. It would be easier at the bar, where her self made brew's were. It was a good part of the reason she chose running a bar, the other was her love of people.
"Good you should do fine then," she said as a few minutes later they entered a lower end area, in that, much of the area around the bar was vacant. The Bar itself had a bulky look to it. from the outside, as she had the place built to withstand some serious punishment. The Neon Shadows Light sign looked somewhat duller in the day time.
"Area's not as bad as it look's" She said as a Mutant who looked like he was part Squirrel staggered out of the door and walked off. As she lead her new found Employee in, she saw the bar was mostly empty. "We don't really get going till the night time, although..." her voice stopping as they passed by a very drunk man, who kept sobbing about his wife leaving him. The man's wife, Melissa had found out had left him five years earlier.

Butterfly smiled when Melissa told her that she would do fine. She looked around the neighborhood and when Melissa said that the area wasn't as bad as it looked, Butterfly replied with "If you say so." She followed Melissa. She knew what the ghetto could be like and even though this area was vacant for the most part, she was still on her guard ready to take off if need be. She walked past the part squirrel guy and walked into the bar. She heard the guy sobbing and she felt bad for the guy. She knew what it felt like to be alone. Butterfly nodded her head when Melissa said that the place didn't start going until night.
She looked at Melissa and waited for her to finish her sentence. "Although what, Melissa?"

"Well some people will drink at any time and don't mind being passed out before noon. Not normally a good sign" she said after they had passed out of earshot of the man. She was not entirely sure what power the man had, but it was best not to find out while he was obviously very drunk. Making her Way to the back of the building, she pulled a card out of her handbag and swiped it, the steel door unlocked and Aura moved into the small room to allow Butterfly in as well.
The Safe, bolted to the wall, was the obvious reason for the heavy lock of the room. Searching through a few files, she pulled out various pieces of paper as well as a purple folder, then after adding what was slightly over a dozen pages, she presented it to Butterfly. "Usual annoying paperwork" she said, not really caring for it herself.
"The head chef is a grumpy ill spirited Raccoon. So don't take anything he says to heart." She said having had one or two less then thick skinned girls in the past cave to him. Chef's tended to be argumentative in her opinion anyway, but her's was bitter from his mutation.

Butterfly walked with Melissa and nodded her head when she spoke about people drinking at any time of the day. Butterfly continued to follow Melissa to the back of the building. She wondered what they were doing and asked Melissa what was the room that they went into. She saw the safe and watched as Melissa began to look through files and put all the paperwork together and into a purple file and handed it to her. Butterfly took the paperwork from her and asked "Is there anything else I need for the job?" And when Melissa went on to explain about the ill spirited chef. Butterfly nodded and told her she thought she could handle it. She didn't let what most people say bother her anyway. Unless they were close to her, but not that many people were around here. Besides, dealing with people and their attitudes came with the job if you wanted to have a position where being around people was common. Hopefully, she wouldn't do too badly at this job. "When do you want me to start? Or do you have to train me/ want me to sort of shadow you first?' she asked.
