The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Thank you" she said as he helped her to her feet. She certainly appreciated it. "it's ok" she said looking to the rather happy dog at Sam's side. The dog seemed nicer then the fur ball she had work her kitchen. One day she was going to get in trouble for that one.
"Yea, decided i needed a bit of help on control so decided to visit. Was checking the place out when we ran into each other" she said smiling. She was glad she had run into something who was obviously of age she could talk to. Other then the counselor who canceled powers, most of the people she had met here were kids.
"I had heard a lot about the Mansion from working in my bar, you run the place?" she asked taking a leap of logic. She had heard somone with ice powers did so and since this man obviously seemed to have ice powers it made sense it might be him. It was odd to feel at a loss for a conversation topic other then that.

SHe was not sure what she had thought she would see on her stroll. A guy playing with a very large dog on ice was not it though. Still she found the sight hard to take her eyes from. She He looked like an older student to her but then she reminded herself the school did not just take kids but anyone who needed help with their powers. She managed to take her eyes away and turn around to continue her stroll.
Moments later she heard a shout and turned just in time to be knocked from her feet by something large. Looking up she saw the dog first and then her eyes went further up to see a man, the dame man she had been watching just moments before.
"Hello" she said making her way to her feet unsure of what else to say. If it was her bar she would have yelled but here, did it just come with the territory? She had no idea. She had to smile over the dog'd eagerness to get at the ball though, he was sure focused. "My name is Melissa, nice dog" she said trying for a friendly smile.

She was glad Gemma seemed to understand her worry. SHe nodded as Gemma seemed calm and confident they could prevent an issue. It certainly had been a key reason she had stayed away from the place as much as she had. The riots had not helped much either having cost her quite a bit in damages over the time it lasted. She was glad she had built her bar in such a sturdy building.
"Whatever water directly touched my skin would transform. Anything that did not contact it would not change. So holding my hands under the faucet, with the sink plugged, you would end up with watered down beer, from the water that touched my skin and that which never made direct contact. I...." she paused a moment looking a bit guilty. "....use my powers for work...of course and often used plastic kid pools. What i mean is when i do it, i have to keep the water moving so it all touches my skin" she actually did that to speed the process up but she was hoping her examples made sense.
"It seems things have to be mostly water to work. Soda would not change but rain water will. I am not entirely sure where the limit is. Once i learned what i could do, i took what was left of my collage fund, found the city with the highest concentrations of mutants and then found the two points the mutants seem to flock, here and Sanctuary and put the bar almost at the middle point"" she said pretty sure she was rambling at this point.
"I can for example add say apples into the water and when i change it, the resulting alcohol will take on an apple flavor. Ice won't change though, unless it melt's" she said not sure if this was helpful but trying to give Gemma the best idea she could of what she could do.

After her meeting with Gemma she had spent the next few hours looking around the school. It really was a nice place. quieter then she would have assumed for a mansion full of mutant adolescents. She had expected maybe more explosions? Still she could not complain, compared to the bar this was extremely peaceful.
She had no really intended to stay this long but had found herself reluctant to go and end up back at the bar. Her manager was likely also grateful Melissa was for once letting her do what she was said to do instead of handling it herself. Even Melissa had to admit that she tended to almost live at work.
She was walking across the grounds without a clear direction in mind. It was starting to get late but the sun still hung in the sky though the moon could be seen as well. She found herself looking up at the passing clouds and doing her best to ignore what sounded like a dog barking, but surely they did not let pets live here as well? the chaos had to be already very high without them.

She took a drink of water and it was nice not having to worry about it. "Well my powers turn water into liqueur upon skin contact. If i focus i can make the resulting liqueur more potent or less but never non-alcoholic. " she started taking another drink of water. She liked this woman already and she barely knew her.
"With enough impurities the water won't change, usually salt. I take a shower by mixing sea salt into the water, just so i don't smell like an alcoholic after every shower" she said shaking her head slightly. "My power will not turn off. Manifested in collage luckily, hate to think if it had been earlior" she said imagining the chaos she would have caused just by smelling like a booze hound.
"I imagine i will be visiting, as often as needed of course, but I don't like the idea of being around so many children. Police would take my liquor license away the first time them found out i got a kid drunk" she continued. Truthfully her neighborhood sucked right on the edge of a nasty part of town near order territory. "I did mention i run a bar right?" she said unable to recall. She knew she had called from the bar.

"Thank you, mam. she walked into the room without an issue. She did not notice her power being effected. She figured she would feel something when her powers turned off. "Water would be nice thank you"[/color she said as she sat down. Truthfully she asked for it more to test her powers then to drink it.
"Water is normally hard to drink" she explained which was also true she needed a straw and to try and make sure it did not touch her cheeks. She had gotten drunk more then once trying to brush her teeth.
"The schools nice" she said and it was a lovely place it just had way to many children. Still the appointment was needed and she was grateful her power was unlikely to kill anyone directly. The mansion itself was huge and seemed well equipped and its students seemed well behaved. Nothing like how kids acted on the movies or even how she had acted in middile school and high school.

She had been to the mansion a number of times but for various reasons had not been able to follow up her appointments. She was starting to question weather she was a workaholic or not but figured if she could question it she must be ok still. Still she really needed to learn to control her powers.
SO she had made an appointment with a woman named Gemma to try and establish just that. SHe really did want to be able to take a shower without having to add a large amount of sea salts. It felt terrible and was costly as well as she need special shower equipment to do so. Baths were easier but the sea salt tended to settle after awhile and she was soon bathing in hard liqueur again.
Dressed in a black blouse and matching pants, she knocked on the door of Gemma. SHe was hoping the mansion could help her. SHe knew she was older then most of the students here but that was fine as long as she kept her powers on the low and did not show off.....which she had once already a few weeks back. "Hello My name is Melissa, Xilx" she said with a friendly smile.

Melissa left the bar with her Manager who was delighted to actually get to manage as Melissa spent half her time bar tending and directly delt with most issues. She decided to ditch her normal black t-shirt and pant look and was almost surprised to look in her closet and recall she had other clothing. She picked out a knee length black skirt and a nice white t-shirt and made sure she had the right time.
She had no idea how good of a tour guide she might make but she would certainly try. It would be nice to get out of the bar she told herself though not convincing herself. SHe always worried about the place when she was away.
She got to the place on tiem and quickly spotted Richard and waved to him as she approached.

"i would not count on it" she said with a shrug. New york winters were long and sometimes lasted well into spring. Still one could hope. Being from the west coast had shown her a big difference between winters.
"Well, I need to go find one of the teachers to ask them somthing" she said making an excuse to leave. It was not so much that she did not like the kid as she liked him enough but she was unsure what to do.
She really did need to reestablish a schedule to try and control her power. Controlled or gone she would be happy when she could go for a swim and not get everyone in a public pool hammered.

Her get out of work? that pretty much never occurred as she ran the place. "Sure, sound's good to me" she replied with a brief thought on the manner. The guy seemed stable enough and he had not sat at the bar long enough to be to drunk to know what he was saying.
"Would be at least a few hours though" she said knowing no one was going to wnat to come in before dinnertime. They did not have a good dinner menu, in fact their food was sub-par and she knew it but people came for the booze and becides it kept her friend and cook, a raccoon mutant whose weak eye sight had damaged his cooking skills beyound what he would admit to.
PUlling out a napkin, she wrote down her number and slid it to him.Melissa was not shy though she did use caution. Still she was in this buisness because she liked people.

"It's prolbely not healthy" she replied with a smile. their were people that wanted drinks that strong but their was a danger point a long the line as well. It was also a key way she made money. She had to buy much less stock then other bars in the area. It also helped to give her unique drinks you could buy nowhere else.
Glancing outside she saw the snowstorm still raging and not looking like it planned to stop. She briefly again considered she likely should not have shown the kid what she could do, but then she figured people would find out here eventually. She wished she could change snow as well but already knew that was not possible, and nether was ice.

"That's true, maybe that's why i can't recall getting to many infections"" she said though she really did have the memory to think about that as she had never actually paid attention to that type of thing. Still the kid had a point and she thought maybe she could use the idea somehow.
She looked at the rat creature amazed. It was not the most impressive thing she had seen nor the most dangerous, but it was an interesting one. Again she was at a loss to consider how this would help the kid survive, the thing she thought nature cared about. " Nice, That's pretty cool" she said with a bright smile. She could see someone playing a lot of pranks with a power like that.
Walking to a window she picked up a clear water filled vase and removed the flowers from it, putting her hand in, nothing visual seemed to happen at all. After a few seconds she took out a lighter and lit one end of one of the removed flowers on fire then dipped it back into the water, on which the fire actually spread. Opening a window she then tossed the vase into the snow to burn out. "That liqueur was likely 150 proof or 75% pure liqueur"" she said realizing showing him this might not have been the ebst idea.

"Toward Mutant supremacy though i don't advocate killing the humans. My own experience has been pretty tame though. My parents barely cared i was mutant" she said which was mostly true. Her parents had not exactly wanted to parade their daughters new ability to be the star of any party. Luckily her powers had emerged late enough where it was not much of an issue. Had her powers emerged in high school things may have been way different.
"It can depend on the area and your visibility. People deal with what they don't have to see much easier. Normal people might give you a dirty look but their are street gangs that get their kicks by attacking lone mutants and as for the police....well they have worked with the Mansion before to detain mutants breaking the law. How justified they were is normally dependent on who you might ask." she replied easily.
"They thought, I was crazy to start a bar in the city with the highest mutant density and mutant related violent crime rates in the country and cater a bar where they could get drunk, possibility out of control with lethal powers. Oh, and that i took their mney to do it" she said with a smile. Her parents would likely never talk to her again, but she did not really need them either. The bar would never make her rich but it was able to support her in what she wanted to do.

"Yea their are a few issues with the power. Though fortunately i got it late enough where it not cause other issues. Like showing up drunk at school" she said with a laugh and smile. She could have imagined a police investigation to that. Which was an amusing thought but not one her parents would ever have let happen. It had been a long time since she had touched a bible or been to church and it showed as the kid corrected her.
"You know one has to wonder what nature was thinking with some of the powers we have in our people. For example why would someone ever need to be able to make booze by skin contact?" she said really not understanding why nature gave her such a power. It had no real use in nature other then a disinfectant.
"Im guessing you can't make the trees outside shovel snow though?" she asked. She had a feeling the kid did not have the power for it but it seemed like a reasonable solution. As powerful as the combined might of the mansion was they were still at the mercy of mere snow.

"Oh child it let's me walk on water and split the seas" she said playfully back. "Honestly though it sucks mostly because it does not turn off. When i shower the water turns into liquor for example" she said and while she had found a way around that issue it did involve using salt water.
Control was why she was there. SHe wanted to turn her powers off to take a shower or drink water without getting a hangover. Ironically she was not immune to hang overs which were caused mostly from dehydration and whose best cure was to drink water. Her powers worked very well at the bar however which was a bonus but telling that to a kid was liekly a poor idea.
"So you could make a wood table dance?" she asked curiously. WOod was organic after all and he did say make it living. SHe was curiously on this but would not press it further.
