The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Melissa had not been to the Mansion in quite some time. at the very least before the riots occurred. She had come here to try and learn control but things during the riots had gotten really out of hand. Her bar had needed protecting and while she was under equipped for such a task her bad had managed to come out standing. SHe had to restock quite a bit of liquer including her own brands.
SHe looked around the deserted living curiously, it really was a wonderful set up. Still it was late and thus why she expected the living room might not have people around. Sitting down she ran a hand through her hair and looked around then at the tv in front of her which she switched on to the local news.
It was snowing pretty good outside and with the road closures she knew she would not be making it home tonight or to her bar. With a sigh at the weather she munched on a cookie as she watched trv, board out of her mind

Alex was feeling antsy. Well no antsy was too calm a word. Trapped more like it, yeah that was a better word. In all honestly waking up to inches and inches of snow was not something that he wanted. He knew he was perfectly safe inside the heated mansion. But past experiences with snow hadn't been pleasant. His first instinct was to go, leave the state, and get to somewhere warmer. However, that wasn't exactly a viable option at the moment. It didn't look like any buses were going to be up and running. Besides that, he had a life here now. Couldn't really just up and leave, not again.
So, blanket wrapped he wondered about the mansion, trying to get rid of some of the nervous energy for the majority of the day. By the evening he ended up going to the kitchen, grabbing a bowl of cereal and heading for the living room. Hoping maybe some tv would distract him. He was surprised to find someone already there. "Uh, hi?"he murmured wondering over to the couch and sitting on the end farthest from the woman. He didn't recognize her face but then again, he had only been living here officially for a few months. There were lots of people he didn't know.

She blinked as she heard the kid speak. SHe had no idea he was even there untill he had. Great a kid, for the life of her Melissa had never dealt with kids well and with her power and business she tried to associate with only people old enough to drink. Still she was in a place full of them and she knew she just had to deal with it.
"Hey there" she said searching for a topic that was suitable for kid's. "So the weather sucks....." she started and then considerd how painfully obvious that likely was, both from the windows and from the tv which had the news on it. The news also told them it was not going to be ending soon.
"My name is Melissa by the way, and yours?" she asked trying to be polite and realizing she had not mentioned her name yet. She had no idea who the kid was but she did not frequent the mansion much so that was almost no surprise. SHe barely knew some of the staff and the ones she did know had not been around in a while.
She hoped she could at least get something done here this time though she also knew that depended more on her comming more frequently.

He blinked at the comment about the weather, looking from the woman to the windows to the tv and back again. "No kidding, hate the snow..."he sighed setting his bowl down on the coffee table to wrestle his blanket into place. Once comfortably wrapped up he picked up the bowl again, spoon in mouth when the woman mentioned her name. "Alex."he mumbled around the mouthful. "Do you work here?"he asked.
Most of the adult he had met so far worked in the mansion in some capacity. There was the teaching staff, people like Miss T who helped with the legal stuff, and so on. He knew Mirror and some others also worked with the police and there was a place in the basement that he wasn't allowed to go to. Not yet at least. He still had yet to properly scout out the entire place. The exterior was easy enough, being that it was all open. But there were a lot of halls, bedrooms, offices, and spaces that he might not of thought of. He made a mental note to send some bugs to explore the vents later.

"No i don't work here, i just visit sometimes. I need to learn control" she said which was true. SHe wanted to do things like take showers without using salt water. Her power not turning off could be very annoying in many ways though she had made it profitable for herself. One had to make the most of things even if her parents could not see that. Many she met had parents who despised them as mutants, not her, no her parents despised her for being a bar owner.
She considered asking the boy if he lived here but figured he likely did from his age. As far as she knew most students lived on campus. "Been here long?" she asked curiously. SHe knew many mutants had bad circumstances they came from, she heard that every day and looking at the kid she had to wonder how much pain he had endured. Humans and Mutants needed to figure something out eventually.
SHe slid the remote across the coach to Alex not really caring what was one now that she knew it planned to snow forever. The place was huge but built to be warma nd comforting, which to her was a nice touch. "I Live across town" she said which was true though she had moved closer to her bar recently, which was in a slightly worse neighborhood then she had been in.

"No I don't work here, I just visit sometimes. I need to learn control."
Ah, that made sense. So the woman was a mutant who didn't have complete control of her powers. He had to wonder what they were. She didn't seem the dangerous or violent type, the kind usually associated with the more destructive mutations. Though that was all stereotype to be honest. But hopefully it wasn't a power like spontaneous combustion or lazer eyes or something like that. It might just be a power that makes her everyday life difficult.
"Been here long?"
"No, not really. A couple months maybe. It's been weird."he murmured picking up the remote that was slid towards him. He flipped through the channels absently before landing on a nature documentary. A bit nerdy but he wasn't exactly ready for regular tv at the moment. Apparently even in the last three years there's been a big leap in how shows were done and he just couldn't keep up when he tried. So for now he stuck with what he knew.
He ate a spoonful of the sugary cereal and nodded when she mentioned that she lived across town. "Never been. Good place to live?"he asked, if only because he felt obligated to keep the conversation up.

" Yea I have only been here a dozen times or so myself over the years." she said not entirely sure when the last time she had been here actually was. She liked the place but did not want to get anyone in trouble, including herself.
She was sure it was weird here with so many mutants around. She could only imagine what might see here if they lived here. She had a feeling it was even stranger then her mutant friendly bar.
" I don't live in the greatest neighborhood" she admitted shaking her head. She lived where it was cheap though she really did need to find a better place one of these days. She looked around again noting they were unusually alone here.
" What can you do? I turn water into wine" she said which was a short way of explaining what she could really do. She did not feel the finer details were likely needed at the moment. She was curious on what her littlie friend could do, she might encountered him in a dozen years or so when he could drink.

Alright so across town is a shit neighborhood. Noted, not that he needed to know. Not with the snow locking them in. Even without it he was fairly certain he could spot a bad neighborhood easy and avoid it. He swirled the cereal in his bowl, feeling boredom sink in as the tv droned on. Something about the hunting habits of dolphins. "What can you do? I turn water into wine."
He blinked, well that was straightforward. "Well it's a little complicated, but basically I can turn organic matter into living things."he shrugged. Normally he'd show off, but he didn't want to bother finding something appropriate to use nor did he want to give up his cereal. "So, does the Jesus power come in handy?" It must for an adult, if she liked to drink that is. She could very well hate it.

"Oh child it let's me walk on water and split the seas" she said playfully back. "Honestly though it sucks mostly because it does not turn off. When i shower the water turns into liquor for example" she said and while she had found a way around that issue it did involve using salt water.
Control was why she was there. SHe wanted to turn her powers off to take a shower or drink water without getting a hangover. Ironically she was not immune to hang overs which were caused mostly from dehydration and whose best cure was to drink water. Her powers worked very well at the bar however which was a bonus but telling that to a kid was liekly a poor idea.
"So you could make a wood table dance?" she asked curiously. WOod was organic after all and he did say make it living. SHe was curiously on this but would not press it further.

He chuckled at that, "Ew, that's gross. You must get super dehydrated all the time then huh." He wasn't dumb. He's been around enough alcoholic hobos and drunk road-trippers to know a thing or two about alcohol. He got drunk once two but that was a story for another time. Still, it was an interesting power. "And it was Moses that split the sea by the way, not Jesus."
"So you could make a wood table dance?"
"Mm, no, not exactly. It's more like I can break down the wood table, turn that material in to something else, and make that dance. Oh but the wood has to be raw, no artificial stuff. Like the coffee table for example, completely useless to me. It's covered in paints and sealants, so the material is more fake than real. If it was ever real wood in the first place."he explained. He glanced down at his cereal bowl, wondering if he should make a sacrifice for the sake of example.

"Yea their are a few issues with the power. Though fortunately i got it late enough where it not cause other issues. Like showing up drunk at school" she said with a laugh and smile. She could have imagined a police investigation to that. Which was an amusing thought but not one her parents would ever have let happen. It had been a long time since she had touched a bible or been to church and it showed as the kid corrected her.
"You know one has to wonder what nature was thinking with some of the powers we have in our people. For example why would someone ever need to be able to make booze by skin contact?" she said really not understanding why nature gave her such a power. It had no real use in nature other then a disinfectant.
"Im guessing you can't make the trees outside shovel snow though?" she asked. She had a feeling the kid did not have the power for it but it seemed like a reasonable solution. As powerful as the combined might of the mansion was they were still at the mercy of mere snow.

"You know one has to wonder what nature was thinking with some of the powers we have in our people. For example why would someone ever need to be able to make booze by skin contact?"
He thought about that for a moment, it was a good question. "Well...Alcohol, depending on the purity, can be used as a disinfectant. And people used to drink that instead of water because it was cleaner. Maybe there's a natural medical purpose to it?" It was honestly just the first thing that came to mind. More often than not, that how he used alcohol, cleaning cuts when water wasn't an option. But without actually seeing her power in action or studying the result, well there was no way to know.
"I'm guessing you can't make the trees outside shovel snow though?"
He glanced at the window and shook his head. "Nah, don't have nearly enough power for that kind of thing." he said swirling the cereal in his bowl with a thought. Eh, fudge it, he could always make more. With a flicker of thought, the food in the bowl started breaking down before being recombined into one of his rat constructs. "But I do have enough to show off a little." He grinned at her as the little critter skittered out of the bowl and up his arm to perch on his shoulder.

"That's true, maybe that's why i can't recall getting to many infections"" she said though she really did have the memory to think about that as she had never actually paid attention to that type of thing. Still the kid had a point and she thought maybe she could use the idea somehow.
She looked at the rat creature amazed. It was not the most impressive thing she had seen nor the most dangerous, but it was an interesting one. Again she was at a loss to consider how this would help the kid survive, the thing she thought nature cared about. " Nice, That's pretty cool" she said with a bright smile. She could see someone playing a lot of pranks with a power like that.
Walking to a window she picked up a clear water filled vase and removed the flowers from it, putting her hand in, nothing visual seemed to happen at all. After a few seconds she took out a lighter and lit one end of one of the removed flowers on fire then dipped it back into the water, on which the fire actually spread. Opening a window she then tossed the vase into the snow to burn out. "That liqueur was likely 150 proof or 75% pure liqueur"" she said realizing showing him this might not have been the ebst idea.

He laughed at the light show, "Now that was cool. Though 170 proof sounds insane. Is that normal for alcohol?" The closest he's ever gotten was beer, which seemed mild in comparison to the kind she could produce. 75% liqueur deffinetely seemed like the kind you wouldn't want to drink and could probably cleanse a wound or two.
He had nearly forgotten about the snow storm raging outside which left him huddling further under his blanket. The fire was quickly consumed by it at least.

"It's prolbely not healthy" she replied with a smile. their were people that wanted drinks that strong but their was a danger point a long the line as well. It was also a key way she made money. She had to buy much less stock then other bars in the area. It also helped to give her unique drinks you could buy nowhere else.
Glancing outside she saw the snowstorm still raging and not looking like it planned to stop. She briefly again considered she likely should not have shown the kid what she could do, but then she figured people would find out here eventually. She wished she could change snow as well but already knew that was not possible, and nether was ice.
