The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kitra blinked and blinked again as she digested the information she'd been given. Mutant Related Crimes?! Just how long have I been gone? I need to make sure I don't react oddly at all though. Even though I haven't done anything wrong. She had always had issues with authority figures, at least law wise. Getting a hold of herself mentally, though she had shown no reaction but slight surprise on her face. kitra caught why he still did it, despite the difficulty and long hours. She could easily understand helping people, even if they weren't always grateful.
"What about you? What do you do for a living?"
Ah, a question she could easily answer by showing him. Kitra smiled, "I am a freelance artist, and its quite commendable that you do such a thing. I've heard some mutants can get rather, nasty." Her tone had went grim as she finished speaking. Her mind had turned to some of the nastiness she had seen, friends she had seen changed for the worse. Kitra shook her head and took a long swig of her drink. She also munched on another fry and looked around to see if there was a paper coaster for her to use. Aha! She spotted one and a pen nearby which she snagged.
Kitra took a closer look at Ashton before looking down at the coaster she had snagged. She hummed briefly while she quickly sketched out his face and features before sliding it to him. She put the pen back where it was before the bartender would need it again. Looking at Ashton, she rested her face on one of her hands as she spoke, "That's what I do for a living. Been drawing since I was little."
"Well, normal for me. Though I do have to have smoke stored for me to be able to do it. While I'd normally be okay with risking getting thrown out of a joint for quote-unquote 'smoking,' this is one I'd like to come back to one day. Though I'd be happy to show you later."
Kitra blinked and blinked again, extremely amused. Flirting again was fun, yes fun. It made one have to think and react with wit and sultriness. Which she was currently failing at. Best to step her game! "Perhaps I will see it later. Who knows yet?" Kitra grinned and finished the rest of her cheeseburger and zucchini fries quickly.
Let's see how he was at the old arcade games, or pool. She'd let him choose. "So, pool or arcade games?" Kitra asked while grinning coyly. "While you decide, I'm going to go wash my hands." This would give Dante a few minutes to decide. Once she came back though, let the games began!
Kitra chuckled, "Normally I do not. However, you caught my eye in more ways then one." She removed her over shirt to reveal her short sleeved, reddish purple shirt. More of a low cut blouse with short sleeves really, it fit her figure quite well. It also showed that she was well defined in the muscle department, which tended to put some men off. It certainly wasn't overbearing, but still. Kitra looked at his tattoos with interest, she hadn't really looked while she was at the tattoo shop, so she did so now. Her inspection was cut short by Julie bringing them their food.
"So." Kitra was happily munching on her fries as her eyes moved up to Dante's. "Is smoking without a cigarette with you a normal thing?" She kept her tone light and took a bite of her cheeseburger, she truly wanted to know. Sometimes though, curiosity killed the cat, but it could also bring it back. Kitra continued to eat her cheeseburger while waiting for Dante's reply. She just hoped it wouldn't be him up and leaving.
"Oh, I can put away a few drinks, but that other stuff sounds fun too."
Was that a wink? Kitra couldn't help but grin and take Dante's arm and they headed inside. Once inside they headed down one flight of stairs and into the pool hall/arcade room. There was alcohol allowed here, but food and games seemed more needed and fun then anything else at the moment. " So any particular food tickle your fancy?" Her stomach let out a low growl and she continued sheepishly. "I sorta forgot to eat after I left the tattoo shop. I was working in my studio and lost track of time."
Kitra made her way to a table towards the back where there wasn't anyone and flagged down one of the staff. The waitress smiled and handed her and Dante a menu apiece. After looking at it briefly, Kitra looked up. "I'll have a cherry Dr. Pepper, a basket of zucchini fries and a cheeseburger please."[/color] The waitress nodded and looked to Dante for his order. Once she took it she left to go get their drinks and put their orders in. Since they would be waiting a bit for their food, Kitra decided to get to know her date a bit better. "So, do you normally go out with chicks that show off their first time meeting you?" Her voice was coy and teasing.
By this time Kitra had removed her trench coat and hung it on her chair. The waitress, Julie was her name, Kitra had finally spotted her name tag, had brought their drinks. Taking a sip, she sighed with relief as the cool liquid slid down her throat and wet her dry mouth. It wasn't like her to be nervous, but things had changed a lot since she had been gone from America for nearly five years. She had no idea if any of her friends were still around, or her enemies for that matter. Ah, no matter, it's best to be in the present and not the past. At least for now, especially since she had a hot guy in front of her. A tiny thought entered her mind but she dismissed, she would ask his age later.
So eight pm was the date time. Thankfully Rivalry's wasn't that far and it didn't take her long to get ready. Kitra finished freshening up, took her hair half way out of its braid and retied it. She grabbed her smaller purse this time, it still had all the necessities, just less paper. Her shirt and skirt was now a reddish-purple. However, she kept to her same trench coat as it had many inside and outside pockets. The inside pockets had some extra paper in them. But her pockets where she would keep her hands warm now had a dagger in each of them.
Satisfied, Kitra grabbed her keys and exited the apartment building and made her way a few blocks down. Her smile was happy and sincere as she came upon Dante standing outside smoking. "Hey! I didn't make you wait too long did I?" Without skipping a beat she continued with a tiny smirk on her face. "Wasn't sure if you would be a big drinker so I figured having a pool hall and arcade here would be just as epic as well." Kitra leaned back slightly on her heels while waiting for Dante to be done smoking. She had switched to her half inch heels so she didn't overshadow Dante too much. Once he was done they could head inside and decide what they would want to do first.
Kitra blinked a few times and also took another sip of her drink. It was getting down towards the bottom and was a bit tart.
"One of my teams is doing well. Villanova. But the others... Syracuse got bumped early. Ohio State... made it past the first game, but Gonzaga got em. And Rhode Island lost to Duke. Clearly outmatched, but I'm sentimental with my picks. Except Villanova. They just look good. "I mainly picked teams from places I've lived."
She digested this information with a nod and another sip. " Sadly, I'm not a huge fan of certain sports, but I try to track of them." Kitra shrugged slightly before downing the rest of her drink. She flagged the bartender down, who simply put another strawberry long island in front of her and grinned before turning back around to grab another basket of fries from the window and placing those in front of her as well. Kitra smiled and pushed a twenty towards him before turning slightly to the man besides her.
Popping a fry in her mouth and moving the basket closer towards the gentleman, she swallowed and then smiled and gestured to the fries. "Help yourself. Name's Kitra, thought I might introduce myself before we get further along in our conversation." Taking a swig of her drink, swallowed, then spoke again. "What makes your days so long at your job? And if its so long, why not try something new?" Kitra was genuinely curious and her tone reflected as such. The fries were too good to resist as she popped another in her mouth while waiting for his reply.
There Were So Many Orders! Kitra buried her face in her hands. How, how was it even possible?! She had left the tattoo shop and headed straight back to her apartment building and to her studio. Once there she discovered what should have been impossible. Eight hundred and twenty eight requests for her work. She let out a huge sigh and removed her face from her hands. Kitra didn't need the work, she did it because she liked drawing. Right now however, well, that was feeling was not so true. Her pacing began as rantings echoed in her studio. "How is it even possible to have 828 requests? I haven't even been back in America for a week. This is freaking ridiculous."
Mutterings still spewing from her mouth, her pacing become work pacing. Paper moved through the air, of all different sizes. Thankfully, the orders had been separated into categories and sub-categories. Orders for portraits went to one area, along with the supplies needed. Pet portraits to another, scenery to yet another area. Anime or gaming requests went to her desk. The, uh, not so tasteful requests were slipped into a folder with their needed supplies on top into a corner. The sorting went on for about forty-five minutes or so. Now, Kitra just needed to decide what to start on first. Her eyes went to her desk, the anime and gaming requests would be first.
Paper rustling around her, Kitra drew and drew. The requests were from everything you could imagine. Link from the Zelda franchise, Thrall from World of Warcraft, Kerragan from Starcraft, Tracer from Overwatch. "Wait, what the hell is Overwatch?" Her tone was purplexed and her face went red when she realized she was behind the times a bit and should have recognized the request. Kitra sighed, feeling somewhat annoyed with herself. She should have known that one, she had been staying in Japan for the past two years.
Time passed by quickly as she drew even more odd requests, and requests from much older franchises. Alucard from Hellsing was a favorite of hers, she of course took the time to actually color and shade that one. The rest she had just done the outlines of. Kitra's stomach let out a low growl as she stopped to stretch and move around a bit. She realized with a start it was somewhat later then she thought. And she had been glad she had plugged her phone in about an hour ago. Kitra was a bit startled when it rang and moved to answer it with a perplexed look on her face.
"Hey. I just got off. Need to feed and walk my dog right quick, but I'd be good for anything after that."
Kitra blinked, then blinked again as Dante's voice came through her phone. "Hello Dante, I hadn't realized it had gotten so late." She mentally facepalmed, she had completely forgotten about their date! Yesh, she was a space cadet. Of course, work can do that to a gal though. "How does meeting at Rivalry's sound? It has a pool hall, arcade, music and of course alcohol." One of the first things she had done when she arrived back was to find out where some of the safe havens were for fellow mutants. Can't be too careful when alcohol is involved.
While talking with Dante, Kitra had managed to lock up her studio, get down a few floors to her apartment and into it. She was already eyeballing some clothes and was just awaiting Dante's response so she could clean up and get dressed in out around town attire.
Kitra grinned and turned on her heel to head out the door. She couldn't help chuckling to herself for a bit. She had a new tattoo, would have a date later and her need for wandering was somewhat sated. Kitra left the tattoo shop and headed back to her apartment building. It had her studio up top and maybe, just maybe, she would work on some of the new orders that starting pouring in as soon as her clientele found out she was back in the states.
"Let's see....how's Tuesday? I'll let you pick the time."
"Hmm, 11am would be fine." Kitra glanced at him as he was looked at her. She smiled as a small 'oh what the hell' thought crossed her mind. "But, I am curious as to what you might be doing after work this evening?" The pinkish tint was barely noticeable under her tan, but it was still there. A low whistle could be heard behind her and she responded with a wry smile and a roll of her eyes.
Kitra shook her head, rather amused. A small business card seemed to float from her pocket and landed lightly on Dante's appointment book. Her card read; Kitra Mavrick Freelance Artist Tattoo Artist Martial Artist KitraMavrick@mro.com 1-888-909-7278
A small gasp of astonishment was heard behind her, "Dude, she's hot, into tattoos and can move sh*t with her mind? I'd tap that." A loud thwack was heard and muttered "Shut it man. She ain't flirting with you." Kitra held her laughter in, but it was just barely.
Kitra breathed a sigh of relief and almost instantly relaxed, just seemed he was curious and in some disbelief. Which, in hindsight was completely understandable. " A gift I used to have." She shrugged and smiled at Dante with a bit of forlorn, " Not sure what happened but things became, different."
She shrugged while smiling at Dante. Kitra handed Dante two hundred, while he went to make change she slipped a one hundred dollar bill into his notebook he had been using earlier to sketch out her piece. She quickly straightened to make sure Dante hadn't seen her. But did notice one of the other artists give her a thumbs up and pointed to him and pointed at his sketch book. She smiled and turned her attention back to Dante. "Anytime next week for the touch ups would be fine."
Kitra's eyebrow quirked up, she would have charged closer to two hundred for that tattoo. Especially since he had a steady hand and worked well. "I do believe you're actually undercharging me. I will happily pay $160 for this piece." She angled her leg so it was easier for her to see, no need for her to show off her balance and stand on one leg though! "The color blending and shading is one of the better works I've come across."
She sighed, looked Dante in the eyes and spoke quietly and with a slight hint of trust in her voice. " I've traveled the world for years and have seen much work in progress and beautiful finished art." Kitra's voice turned serious yet still trusting as she went, despite little alarms bells in her mind telling her to shut up. " I've also done all my tattoo work myself, and I do mean all."
She went quiet as she slipped her trench coat back on, slightly worried about meeting Dante's eyes now. Why oh why did she say that!? Not all mutants are trustworthy. She knew it wasn't a trick of the light what she had seen earlier. Kitra slipped her hand into one of her pockets and pulled out some cash while she waited for a response, any response at this point.
"Just let me know when you'd like to set a date, and I'd be happy to have you back."
Kitra couldn't help but let out a giggle, a good giggle mind you. "A date hmm? I wouldn't mind a date." She coughed slightly before pulling her shirt back over her head, more so to hide her slight blush. Recovered, she turned back to Dante, looking much more professional and calm. "How much do I owe you and yes lets set a date, perhaps two." Kitra smiled somewhat mischievously as she pulled her boots back. Her smile quickly turned to a small wince as she had forgotten that she had put boot daggers in them.
Moving quickly she pulled them out and put her feet in and rearranged her daggers back in her boots. Kitra looked up at Dante with a careful smile, "One can never be to careful eh?" With that she straightened and noted with an inward giggle that her boots put her about three inches above Dante.
Kitra retrieved her wallet and then grabbed her trench coat and purse and looked to Dante awaiting his response.
Kitra nodded and gave Dante a small smirk, "I have a tank top under my shirt so no free show, sorry." Her tone was more amused then anything. She carefully pulled her shirt over her head, her tank top was cream colored and higher in the front but the back showed off her entire tattoo of her leather dragon wings.
Kitra turned her back to Dante so he could look it over. Mind you, it would be a lot to take in. They were well detailed with the creases and mix of brown and black leather. In all actuality, the wings looked down right real, as if they could pop off her skin at a moments notice. While Dante was examining those, she spoke again, somewhat hesitant this time. " I have two whip tattoos, one on each leg. I also have my dagger here." She turned her left wrist over, and looked back at Dante awaiting his responses.
Kitra merely nodded at Dante's words and settled into a more comfortable position. He was quite good, no more pressure then necessary. No unnecessary movements either. SHe nearly drifted off to sleep, pain really didn't bother her much. It was easy to phase out with meditation and this was nothing compared to when she had done the wings on her back.
It didn't seem like long before Dante finished her tattoo and was cleaning it up. Kitra examined his work, she was rather pleased with it. "You're quite good!" She spoke in a happy, pleased tone, the smile on her face showing her pleasure at his work as well.
"Would you like to take a look at the tattoo I would like touched up?"
"I like this one the most," Kitra was smiling as she pointed to the more rounded Ankh. She swiftly moved to the table/chair and hopped up on to it with an fluid like ease. Her boots she removed just as easily and had unzipped her left legging up to her knee.
Kitra made a small grimacing noise and looked up at Dante, "My other tattoo won't be in the way will it?" Kitra looked down at her left leg and did a quick look, she didn't think it would be in the way. It ended on the outside of her left leg but she wanted Dante's opinion if it would look odd.
She again looked at Dante with a small smile, " Depending on how this turns out, what do you think of touch up work?" Kitra's smile turned slightly sad as she spoke again. "I am not sure I can do it myself anymore to be honest." She wasn't being dishonest, she simply hadn't tried to ink her wings with her paper manipulation. Thankfully, they weren't really faded, but did need touch ups.
