The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Simon listened impassively as Hunter introduced each member of the newly formed Kebal’s in turn, listing their names and area of expertise. The elemental was somewhat surprised at his own introduction, for while he did consider himself more skilled than most he had only begun his career a little over a year ago; hardly enough for someone else to consider his experience worth anything. ‘If this is an attempt at flattery it’s a poor one’ , still such a tactic showed that the man valued the people in his employ and was therefore less likely to send them out on potential suicide runs, always a positive with any employer.
Glancing around at his fellow “teammates”, the first one that caught his attention was the hulking green lizard who was just a hair shorter than Zephyr himself. It had been stated that this creature was to be the combat specialist of the group and upon seeing the razor sharp claws that tipped each finger and the jagged collection of fangs in his maw the elemental was inclined to agree with Hunters decision. Despite this though he couldn’t help wondering how capable the creature actually was, after all there were many creatures in nature that appeared fiercer than they actually were, ‘I suppose I shall have to wait and see’.
The next one to meet Zephyr’s azure gave was an individual roughly his own age. The boys name was Calley and he had been designated as the group’s stealth and reconnaissance expert, or in other words a spy. Zephyr nodded as this was announced, the kid seemed like good choice; he appeared normal enough to blend in with any crowd and the way he behaved conveyed an air an air of childlike innocence that would make most react to him as such. ‘Now the real question; is he a mutant?’ judging by the rest of the crowd the kid almost certainly had to be, but as to his abilities, well it seemed Zephyr would be left in the dark for a while longer.
The third and final member of the Kebals was a man who reeked of arrogance and made no attempt to hide it as he challenged Hunter's authority at nearly every turn. Simon swiftly concluded that the man had to have come from a rather privileged background to be able to act with such over confidence around scores of arm guards that were not under his control. From what Dakota let slip it also seemed apparent that he was quite familiar with Simon's new employer, one thing in particular caught the mercenary’s ears though, “I don't give a $h!t if you are 400 years old or not…”
400 hundred? Surely not, even the most long lived of humans never reached 200 and if they did they would have been reduced to flesh and bones, confined to bed in order to prolong the pitiful existence they refused to relinquish. Yet the twenty five year old before him was supposed to have nearly half millenniums worth of experience. As the elemental pondered over this enigma Hunter continued speaking, informing them that they would each have their abilities tested. Normally Zephyr would have greeted such an announcement with a sigh and possibly a roll of his eyes. Unlike some mutants he did not relish demonstrating his powers to every naive and curious fool in existence, one of the reasons he had managed to become so successful in Europe was because no one knew exactly what his powers were.
However Zephyr did not register Hunters words, too caught up in his own thoughts he simply followed the group as he tried to discern if Dakota’s words had any truth to them. ‘No human could reach 400 hundred years of age, it’s simply impossible. A mutant perhaps but we’ve only recently started to emerge at the turn of this century, there haven’t been any records of us before…’ Simons eyes widened slightly as the realization hit him; of course there had been mutants before! Where did people think myths of vampires, witches and werewolves originated from?
Focusing his gaze back on hunter Simon observed the man; there was nothing outstandingly remarkable about him, he came from money that much was easy to see just by his dress and his style of speech. Yet his physical behaviour suggested that of predator, one who was used to having powers over others and had no qualms about using it to his advantage. Nothing about the man shouted mutant, but now that Simon was actively searching he couldn’t say with any certainty that he was human either.
Deciding to file this interesting little puzzle under things to do Zephyr returned his attention to the events around him and observed as the others demonstrated the unique abilities they possessed. Dakota proved to be little more than parasite, but a strong parasite none the less as he drained energy from those around him and used it to unleash bursts of energy and even influence the gravity around his targets.
The Lizard, contrary to any doubts Simon had had, proved himself to exceptionally capable in close combat as he used his god given abilities to defeat three assailants without killing a single one, which was far more difficult than simply killing your opponent as Simon had learned early on.
As his teammates finished their demonstrations it seemed as though Zephyr had been forgotten, not that he was going to complain of course. Simon was more than happy to allow his talents remain in relative anonymity and so continued his role as Silent observer as a team of technicians arrived with a strange of suit if the armour for the Lizard who had named himself Xii.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
'Ah so that was her name' Simon allowed a small grin to form as he filed away the womens name and linked it with the voice he had heard; it never hurt to know people's names, especially if they didn't expect you to know them. At one point during his stay in Europe Simon had managed to start a rumour that he was a telepath simply by listening in on random conversation he happened to encounter. It had amused him for a time but the rumour had quickly died when he became more well known. 'Anonymity is such a blessing' he thought wistfully just before a half dozen armed men surrounded him.
“You’re to come with us sir.”
"Is that so?..." Simon left the question hanging dangerously in the air allowing the tension to mount. 'It would seem my new employer is most cautious' he noted as he observed the guards clutch their rifles more securely and spread their stance in preparation for a fight. Glancing up towards the security cameras the elemental noted how they had fixed on his form, 'most cautious indeed' giving the cameras a dry look he returned his gaze to the man who had spoken. "Well let's not keep him waiting, lead the way"
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Having left sanctuary at a casual pace Zephyr had quickly found his suspicious good evaporating, replacing it instead with a moderate level of anxiety. He wasn't use to be contacted out of the blue like this, normally he was the one to approach an employer and when it was the other way round Simon usually specified the meeting point. This time though events had been left completely out of his control, and this caused the elemental to be somewhat more cautious than usual when he entered the peculiarly named "Bite 2 Eat".
The place had seemed ordinary enough at first glance, the patrons for the most were human, for Zephyr had yet to see am obese mutant who wasn't big enough to tackle a tank. There seemed to be something about the x gene that kept those possessing it in surprisingly good form no matter what their diet. Still dispersed among the largely human crowd Simon was able to pick out a few tell tale sings of mutant guests, it was nothing obvious, things only an experienced observer would notice, but Simon had been fighting for his life for over a year and so he noted those who were exceptionally confident or skittish and noted that they possessed something unique, whether it be coloured lenses, exceptionally baggy clothes or extendable tongues.
It was not these ordinary mutants who worried the mercenary though, if a fight broke they would represent no great threat to him; for Simon could easily level the building if he chose. What truly bothered the elemental was the staff of the fast food joint; their movements were too precise, their behavior too polite and the quiet way they took almost any abuse thrown at them set off an alarm in Simon head. The fact that nearly all of them were 6ft and built like commandos did not ease the situation. This was far more than the burger joint and at this point in time Simon had no interest in uncovering whatever ulterior motive was hidden.
Still he was supposed to encounter his contact here and after abandoning Sanctuary he couldn't easily afford to turn back now. so he had silently joined the steadily moving line and when it came his turn to order he used the corny pass phrase that had been given to him and ordered the "burger with extra bite". The man behind the counter had shown no reaction to Simon's words and calmly retrieved his order like he had with previous untold customers he had dealt with that day, serving the elemental a surprisingly small burger on a tray with a large soda. Thinking that he was still waiting for his contact Simon had taken his tray and chosen a seat at the back corner of the establishment so that he would have a clear view of anyone who approached him, yet no one did..
It will not be stated how long it took Simon to glance back down at his tray and realize that the normal paper mat provided was in fact a map. Let us merely say that he was quite glad his contact wasn't present to notice it. After quickly scanning and absorbing the route detailed on the cartoonish map Simon left Bite 2 Eat at a swift pace and quickly ascended to the nearest roof and from there called upon the element that was under to his command to lift him into the sky and carry him to his destination at a breakneck speed.
The destination marked on the map was no small complex, it was easily the size of a military base, and probably had most of the same safeguards. After observing the structure a fair distance away from the air Zephyr decided it would be more prudent to approach on foot and clearly allow them to see him coming so that he would not be mistaken for some type of missile. Landing a mile away from the facility the elemental brushed off his clothes and headed towards the lab at a causal pace, he still twenty minutes of his two hour deadline left and he figured he may as well use them.
Roughly twenty minutes later Simon finally approached the Mondragon facility. As he attempted to enter his path was blocked by two security guards with roughly the same build as the staff of Bite 2 Eat.
"We'll need to see some authorization"
Giving the man a dry look Simon noted the many surveillances cameras and decided not to antagonize the man "Tell who ever is responsible that Zephyr has arrived"
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Extending his own hand Simon allowed a brief smile to form on his features as a small, but powerful wind snagged the offered card out of the red mutants hand and into the elementals own. Taking a moment to appreciate the gold leaf design on the front Simon raised an eyebrow at the mention of the Sanctuary.
'Sanctuary, where have I heard that name before?' he turned the question over in his mind for a moment or two until the answer crept to the front of his consciousness. 'Ah yes, the large building with the rather ornate doors, the very place all the local street gangs seem to avoid, I had thought it merely an over funded homeless shelter. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised the place had an ulterior motive.'
Lifting his eyes the elemental returned his gaze to Pluto and incline his head, "Aybss was it? Yes that was all I required, my thanks for your assistance."
Placing the card in his back pocket Simon gave a final glance to three crimson forms before turning away and exiting the area at a casual pace.

Off to Sanctuary I go.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
The elementals eyes darted to his right as the flash of another portal signaled the entrance of a new contender, another clone it seemed, yet this one appeared far more level headed than its originator. Simon gave this newcomer a nod of his head and if he'd had a hat he would have tipped it, sadly though such an item was missing from his inventory... Closing his eyes for an instant Simon filled his lungs and cleared his mind; hats were not important right now, he could purchase scores of them at later date if necessary, but for now he had other matters to attend to.
Fixing his eyes upon this new clone Simon considered his words, a response was needed, that much was certain, but as of yet Simon saw no need to trust the crimson figure or his clones. The elemental was not such a novice that he didn't recognize a possible distraction, so when he turned his gave upon Pluto and gave his reply he made certain to keep both Jupiter and Abyss in his peripheral vision.
"If time is of the essence then I will make my request short, like you I was born with a unique gift. In order to make the best of my abilities I am in search of an affluent employer, preferably one whose morals would be considered...lacking, by the rest of society. Do you have knowledge of such a person?"
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
A shallow breath escaped the observers lips as his azure eyes watched the actions of those before him. The two, or perhaps he should say three, had demonstrated interesting abilities, both of which could be lethal in the right circumstances. However they both seemed to share a distinct weakness; a lack of range, as long as one could maintain at least five meters of separation there was no threat and for someone with Simon's abilities this was no problem at all.
'Hmm? That was rather short' the wind elemental mused as he watched the paler of the two challengers vanish into a subterranean tunnel, supposedly to escape the battle and leave the area all together. Whatever the mans reasons it mattered not to Simon, now was the time to abandon his role as observer and take an active role in this diminutive drama.
Rising from his seat Simon took a brief moment to scan his surroundings for any signs activity; it wouldn't do if another unexpected visitor arrived to ruin the only opportunity he'd had so far. Seeing no one and nothing suspicious the wind elemental adopted a swift yet graceful walk that took him inside the crimsons fiends hearing range while at the same time maintaining a safe distance from any sudden actions, the man was drunk after all.
Using a polite yet indifferent tone he had mastered on suspicious locals in the crowded cities of Europe Simon addressed the man, "Pardon me for interrupting but if I may have a moment of your time there is something I would like to discuss..." he trailed off and awaited the mans response, if there was any sign of hostility Simon would not hesitate to take flight.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
The thought came from a solitary individual a ways off from the two opposing mutants. Sitting on the grimy wooden bench Simon placed his elbows on his knees and steepled his fingers as he got ready to take the role of observer.
He had arrived in America a few weeks ago and after asking around and interrogating the local street trash the young man had found that for some reason mutants tended to congregate around the in the city of New York. Simon had wasted no time in packing his bags and using the funds he had acquired in Europe to procure a relatively comfortable upper class apartment on the west side of the city. With a base of operations established the mutant had proceeded to try and find an employer for his unique abilities, preferably one that tended to work in the shadow of the law. However he had run into a few difficulties; while he had ascertained that New York was a veritable buffet for shady characters contacting them was another matter entirely.
So Simon had been forced to play the waiting game as he wandered the city searching for someone who had both low morals and the income to pay his rather high fees, and at last it seemed as though he had gotten some kind of a lead.
The crimson mutant, while obviously inebriated, showed the precise lack of morals that Simon was searching for in an employer. If scarlet fiend managed to come out on top in this scrap then Simon would take the opportunity to question him.
For now though, he was simply an observer.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Zephyr watched as the woman slowly collapsed to the earth and heard her mutter a half finished curse before she lost consciousness. Gazing at her vulnerable form for just a moment the British merc allowed a predatory grin settle on his features before turning his attention to more pressing issues, such as escaping with his prey unnoticed. Although Tris had failed to destroy the dart that had rendered her unconscious her ill aimed explosions had succeeded in drawing the attention of those outside the alleyway. Even now he could near stunned civilians whispering rather audibly, asking each other about the source of the explosions. The elemental wouldn't be surprised if the local authorities had already been contacted and were on their way, he would have to move fast.
Striding over to the girl's prone form he swiftly scooped her petite body into his arms and tossed her over his shoulder steadying her with one hand while the other grabbed her discarded bag of shopping, he would leave no trace of her presence. As he stood up to his full height he glanced at the two thugs he had muted earlier on, they had long since ceased moving upon running out of air and now lay motionless on the grimy alley floor. Still they were not yet completely useless, picking up the sharper pieces of debris with a miniature twister Zephyr impaled the dead bodies with crumbling shrapnel, making it appear as though the two had died in the explosion instead of from suffocation. Of course a thorough forensic examination in the morgue would reveal otherwise but if Hunter was as influential as Zephyr believed him to be then bribing, or even blackmailing a few scientists shouldn't be a problem.
Examining his hurried work with a critical eye the elemental searched for anything out of place before nodding to himself. There was nothing here to suggest that either he or Trista had ever been in the alley, police would investigate the scene, discover the two dead bodies covered in alcohol and would have to conclude that the idiots had somehow blown themselves up. As Zephyr slowly began to rise into the air though he was struck by a thought and he paused, 'it wouldn't take much' he told himself, 'just her work ID or possibly even one of her shoes.' If such evidence was found the forensic team would then have reason to suspect Trista Evans for the murder of two men below him, it was a tempting opportunity...
After debating the pros and cons of such an action mentally for what seemed like hours but was in fact seconds Zephyr decided against it. He would be better off if no one knew that either he or Trista had ever been present here, if framing Trista turned out to be necessary then Hunter could simply throw money at the police until they they agreed with him.
Taking off silently into the clouded skies overhead just as the first pedestrian came to investigate the alley Zephyr settled the sleeping woman more comfortable on his shoulder and began sorting through her shopping as he made his way towards the labs. He was pleasantly surprised when he was greeted by the sight of anothere bottle of scotch. 'It seems I'll get something out of this little run around after all' he thought to himself as he closed the bag and sped off towards the labs, fully intent on enjoying a drink or two the moment he releived himself of his burden.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Zephyr allowed a smug grin to tug at his lips as Trista finally seemed to comprehend what he was offering her. 'About time' he thought with no small amount of annoyance. This little hunt had gone on far longer than it had any right to and now that the elemental had something that could be construed as acceptance of Hunters invitation Zephyr planned on returning to the labs as soon as physically possible, however that meant flying and the merc wanted to keep this woman in the dark about his abilities for a while longer.
Standing up to his full height Zephyr crossed his arms behind him, in doing so he once more felt the outline of the tiny array of tranquilizer darts that lined his sleeves and for a split second his eyes gleamed with gleeful malice as he concocted a plan. Swiftly schooling his features into a pleasant expression of triumph over Trista's supposed acceptance the elemental gave a slight flick of his wrist, the action would be invisible to Trista but this precise movement dislodged one of the sedative darts from it's place and allowed it to fall to earth where it was quickly caught by a wayward gust of wind.
Maintaining eye contact with Trista the entire time this was happening Simon continued his role and began speaking once more, "I can assure you Ms. Evans that your salary will be suitably impressive, in fact if you are a good negotiator you may be able to persuade my employer to give you more than you are worth... As for the matter of control well, those are questions best left to my superior as I will not be in charge of your training. Now if you have no further queries I shall arrange us transport." Retrieving his sleek obsidian phone from his pocket the elemental began entering a number.
The whole time Simon had been talking the unobtrusive dart he had released earlier had been traveling silently as it made towards it's target. Sticking to the natural shadows of the alleyway the projectile had journeyed far above the two mutants heads and had essentially made a giant loop so that it was now behind Tris. Altering the projectiles path just slightly Zephyr made sure that if dart did somehow fail to it's target it would not be heading towards him.
'It seems I finally get to test my new toy s on a mutant' the elemental mused to himself with no small amount of satisfaction as, with a final thought, he directed the dart to impale itself in Trista's neck. as he did so Zephyr planted a look of alarm on his features and shouted out a warning, "Get Down!"
If Tris did somehow manage to avoid the projectile she would think they had come under fire from a third party, if not well... that would just make things so much easier.
---
((OOC: It's your choice whether ot not you get hit by the dart Tris, I just thought I'd try and wrap this up so we can get to the labs that much sooner.))
Zephyr frowned slightly as the girl mocked his social skills. It wasn't that the pitiful insult had actually offended him, he wasn't vain enough to care about the opinions others had of him. No what irked the elemental was that the girl hadn't seemed to notice his not so subtle hint about her future salary if she agreed to work for the Kabal. Zephyr had seen where Trista worked and lived, neither had been particularly remarkable and so he had been sure that she would be impressed by his somewhat vague offer, but she hadn't. 'Perhaps she has a different motivation' he mused to himself as he watched Trista struggle with her anger. He had come across such people before, those who thought nothing of money, those kind of people had always been somewhat of an annoyance to the merc, however he had learned a long time ago that everyone has a price, some simply used a different form of currency.
When Trista revealed that she did indeed rely on her hands to control her mutation Zephyr restrained a disappointed sigh, he didn't really need to provoke the girl more than he had as it would only drag things out longer than needed. However when the woman continued speaking and attempted to mock his abilities the elemental could not suppress a low chuckle, for she truly had no idea what she was talking about and he found her ignorance amusing.
"I'm afraid to say Ms. Evans that you only scored one out of two" he said in a light tone, still not completely capable of removing the slight grin from his face. "I may be able to "sound proof things" as you put it, however your mutation does not require the use of your hands, they are merely a crutch..." he trailed off until he was suddenly struck by a thought as he recalled her struggle to control her anger, "Would you like to learn control Ms Evans? Would you like to be free of the fear of accidentally destroying a city block and countless lives becuase for one moment you let your anger take hold of you? My employer can give you that." It was a shot in the dark but Zephyr was confident that his words would have the necessary effect and just to be sure he had been subtlety increasing the ratio of oxygen in the air around Trista the entire time he had been speaking. The increase in oxygen would make the girl feel light headed and hopefully make her more agreeable.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Zephyr's eyes narrowed only slightly as he examined the girls body language, the first and most important thing he noted was that she was far too expressive in her gestures; she wielded her hands in the same manner a human would a gun. This was a glaring weakness for many battle able mutants with insufficient control of their abilities; not only did it mean they were half a second behind in any attack they chose to initiate, it also publicized their intentions to the entire visual world. Making a mental note of this deficiency Zephyr resolved to mention to it Hunter if the girl was accepted into the Kabal; the elemental would not have his own life put at risk becuase of the incompetence of his supposed "allies".
When Trista gave her mocking imitation of his earlier comment Simon simply raised an inquisitive eyebrow, as one would do with an eager nephew proclaiming they had a new magic trick. Although the impression wasn't half bad, in Zephyr ears it was found severely lacking and he gave a low "tsk" of disappointment in same manner a school teacher would to a mischievous pupil. "I'm afraid to say Ms. Evans that your talent does not lie in mimicry, fortunately my employers six figure rate is for your rather unique abilities and not your severely lacking comedic skills."
Giving the equivalent of a mental shrug Zephyr put the slip behind him, 'Whats done is done' he told himself idly as he fired out a final question in an attempt to distract the girl, "Tell me Ms. Evans do you always rely on your hands when using your powers?"
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
From his place in the shadows Zephyr observed silently as Tris launched and somehow detonated a rather well aged bottle of scotch. An expression of distaste crossed his features as he watched the two goons writhe in pain from assault, 'What a waste' he thought sourly as he gazed upon the spilled contents of a bottle, 'That whiskey would have been aged for at least twelve years if not more and in a single senseless act all of that time has gone to waste... such a pity.' Shaking his head in dismay the elemental tried to rid his head of such thoughts, it was not Trista's fault that she was ignorant of the finer things in life.
Landing without a sound on the ground behind Trista Zephyr calmed his features. Now that he had identified her mutation he still needed to get her to accept Hunter invitation and that task would be easier by far if she didn't view him as any kind of threat. 'Time to ascend to the stage once more' he thought dryly as he placed a warm, albeit thin smile on his face.
"Most impressive" he stated in a pleasant tone as he emerged from the shadows, "You seem to have a reasonable grasp on your gift and you have demonstrated a certain underhanded initiative that is rarely seen these days." For a moment the elementals eyes flickered over to the two men who were still moaning over the injuries, their whining was quickly becoming a nuisance, however the problem was quickly solved as Zephyr constructed a dome of nothingness around the two quickly muting out any sound they could make as well as giving them a limited supply of air.
Turning his gaze back to the explosive red head Simon continued his charade of harmless bystander, "Tell me Ms. Evans would you be interested in answering to a higher and rather lucrative calling?"
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Zephyr haunted the rooftops of nearby buildings as he silently shadowed his target. Hunter had contacted him earlier in the week and assigned him the role of recruiter for the Kabal, his vampiric employer had also designated the elementals first potential recruit; a young woman by the name of Trista Evans.
After receiving a photo and being given her address Simon had located the petite girl fairly quickly, however the red head had an annoying habit of sticking to crowded places and Simon wanted to make his offer in private incase Tris turned out be as volatile as the last two red heads he’d met. Simon had no desire to publicly expose himself as a mutant he still wanted to enjoy being anonymous for a while longer. There was also another problem he had yet to resolve, Hunter wanted him to identify the girls mutation but so far the girl had yet to demonstrate any evidence of her X gene and Zephyr was of the opinion that she wouldn’t use it unless provoked.
Fingering the tranquilizer darts concealed in his sleeve Zephyr kept his gaze focused on his target as he toyed with the idea of simply abducting the girl and bringing her back to the labs. It wasn’t exactly what Hunter wanted but the man hadn’t been that specific on how the girl arrived, however he doubted the woman would take too kindly to such an act and that would make the act of recruiting her more difficult.
Finally dismissing the idea Zephyr turned his head as he caught a flicker of movement on the edge of vision, ‘what’s this?’ A pair of masked men had somehow managed to get onto the rooftop parallel to Zephyrs own and were busy trying to pick the lock on the trap door that led to the buildings entrance. A thin smile formed on the elementals features as he swiftly formed a plan, noting Trista’s current location he made a hurried prediction of her most likely route before gliding over to the two oblivious masked men. Swiping their feet out from under them with a burst of wind Simon kept the two pinned faced down on the ground with a strong down current of air, kneeling down between them he made sure they couldn’t see his face as started to speak, “Gentlemen today is your lucky day…”
A few minutes later after he had convinced Fred and George that it was in their best interest to help him Zephyr was once more silently following his unwitting target. Everything was planned, if somewhat hurriedly, Fred and George would follow Tris with as much subtlety as they could and the moment she entered some desolate area they would attempt to mug her hopefully forcing her into using her mutation. Even if she was a woman as long as Tris had some kind of worthwhile mutation she should have no problem taking care of her pursuers
‘Here we go’ Simon thought to himself as he watched Tris enter one of the many dark alleys that were scattered over the city.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Aware of only the slightest hum in the air Zephyr did not immediately connect this to the girls condition for he had more pressing matters to attend to; key among them being his efforts to keep himself somewhat clean while under an assualt from the local wildlife.
'What the hell is going on here?' he thought furiously as he fought to shield his face from the whirlwind of beaks, claws and fangs that were doing their best to gauge out his eyes.
Preoccupied as he was with these events the elemental could have easily missed the twins exit, had they not announced their presence with a such a thunderous explosion. Dodging the stone shrapnel by sheer luck alone Zephyr refocused his attention on the center of the explosion and to be rewarded with a flash of red and green whipping out of his peripheral vision. Twisting his head violently he tried to follow their flight but his attackers had other plans and his view was obscured by a cloud of feathers and papery wings as the flying vermin assaulted him anew and caused him to lose track of the twins, and his patience.
"Enough."
The command was not bellowed as some may expect but it carried in it a hint of steel which would have made even the most bold pause in theirs steps. Unfortunately it did nothing for the furious swarm surrounding him and so the elemental was forced to action; taking hold of the surrounding air and repelling it from his body faster than a bullet. This sudden explosion of wind not only dispelled his demented attackers and obliterate the girls coming attack, it left an indentation in the solid stone beneath his feet.
As air surrounded his body once more Simon took a deep breath and let his eyes dart over the arena. There was no sign of the two redheads and he couldn't feel any trace of the minute vibrations created by the one twin. Still Zephyr refused to lower his guard as he continued to observe his environment, 'too much damage' he noted idly to himself as he took in the scene of destruction. Although the British merc was normally loathe to fight the fairer sex, when he did he never fought with his full potential, and although that still held true here he had been forced to increase the intensity of his strikes somewhat to compensate for the defensive abilities of the girls mutation. The result of this increase in power was the scene that now faced his eyes; cracked and uneven earth, strewn pieces of debris along with a notably absent chunk of rock from lady liberties base. Not a lot admittedly but it was more than the elemental liked, especially considering he had vowed off his powers for the day.
'I suppose it's time to go' he decided when he failed to find any trace of the rotten red heads. Summoning an undercurrent beneath his feet once more Simon slowly ascended into the clear blue sky, halting when he was standing above the great golden torch in the statue of liberty's upraised arm. "What a disappointing day" he muttered morosely as the adrenalin from the scuffle quickly left his system. "Still, I suppose it's not been a complete loss."
With that final word the elemental turned his gaze back inland and rocketed through the air on his way back to his hotel, parting the air before him as he went.
Cafas: "Zephyr is the king of bad decisions, but if Sebby being weak to ghost is anything to go by, not so amazing at follow through."
Zephyr's eyes took on a expression of superiority that seemed to contain a predatory element as he watched the girls take a step backwards in fear. "Something wrong?" he asked in an innocent tone as he pasted his polite smile back on his features, "You seem to have lost your sting"
Normally Zephyr wasn't one to engage in pointless taunting; more often than not it resulted in the speaker becoming more distracted instead of the opponent. In this case though the elemental just couldn't help himself; he was feeling a rush of adrenaline due to the excitement he felt from testing out this new side of his mutation. If vibrations were the only thing these girls were capable of then he'd just found their achilles heel and there was nothing they could do about it.
'I'm going to enjoy this'
As the chunk of rock collapsed atop the twins Zephyrs smug grin diminished somewhat, "Over so soon? What a pity" he muttered to himself as he stared at the pile of rubble. He'd hope that their encounter would last a little longer in order for him to perfect his latest "parlor trick".
The sound of footsteps caught the elementals attention and he craned his neck around behind him to see a few cautious tourists come wandering around the corner. It seemed as though the fools had finally gotten over their earthquake and had come to investigate the sounds of battle. Swiftly dropping back down so he was once more only an inch above the earth Zephyr spared the these newcomers an irritated look, although they were a ways away at the moment it wouldn't be long before they saw the pile and rushed to investigate it seemed as he truly had run out of time. Still he was disinclined to leave just yet, he wanted to ascertain the girls condition at least; if they were alive he could always stumble onto them again.
