The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Alex had seen the 'king of the hill' thing advertised on the window outside the gym when he first entered the shop, but he hadn't entered the gym to beat several people up with his fists before he got tired out and then thrown out of the ring... he had come to get a work out and see about changing his attitude. Pounding the tar out of a large sand punching bag would do the trick for him. As the malachite manipulator pounded the daylights out of the punching bag, he was alternating between quick jabs, a few right and left cross punches, and then one really strong center punch before he went back to jabbing. Alex was so focused on the punching bag that he didn't even notice a new guy step into the boxing ring and knock someone out with a single uppercut.
Suddenly a loud SNAP echoed throughout the gym, which was quickly followed by the punching bag that Alex was pounding falling to the floor. He had punched the thing hard enough that the hook had given way. "Whoops..." Alex exclaimed with surprise before he knelt down to look at the hook. The darn thing was made out of cheap aluminum and was very hallow. There was almost nothing holding up that punching bag. No wonder it failed. The referee for the 'king of the hill' match had heard the sound of the hook breaking and had stopped to stare in Alex's direction, clearly not knowing that the broken hook was a bad one, dumbfounded.
The owner of the gym wasn't happy. "Hey! What gives you the right to break my equipment?!" the man yelled as he stormed over to Alex. "Hey, sorry about that. It was an accident. I'll gladly replace it for you if you want." Alex offered as he removed the rented boxing gloves. Hearing that Alex was willing to pay for the damages right away, the gym owner calmed down a little. "You do that son, but I don't want you in this gym much longer. You want to keep throwing punches, do it in the ring till someone knocks you out." the man said in a booming voice before grabbing Alex by the shirt and started to pull Alex towards the boxing ring.
"Whoa, hey! I didn't sign up for that! All I wanted to do was blow off some steam, that's all!" Alex stated before the gym owner shoved Alex into the front of the line. "You've been volunteered. Get in there!" The owner yelled, and Alex was starting to get annoyed. "I said only came here to blow off some steam. Doing that against another person is a bad idea." Alex protested, but the referee walked over to Alex and offered a padded helmet. "You might as well step into the ring pal. He only gets like this when he sees someone that might make it as a pro, and he wants to get them to box for him before they go for anyone else. He's basically testing you." the ref stated. "Fine." Alex stated and climbed into the ring, ignoring the padded helmet that was offered to him as he put the rented gloves back onto his hands.
Turning to face his opponent, Alex offered a gloved hand for him to shake. "Hey, I'm Alex, also known as Mr. I can't control my own strength. What's yours?"
While the expression on Alex's face remained neutral, he was smiling slightly on the inside. He could see it in the shadow mutant's eyes that he hadn't been expecting the malachite blade to shoot out from Alex's elbow. That inward smile vanished however when the man avoided the attack and vanished into the shadows, only to pop out of another one and threw a black throwing knife at the malachite manipulator and at Koga. Alex was in the middle of retracting the malachite blade from his right arm while turning around and forming a malachite shield in his left hand to block the incoming attack when Koga, using those night sticks of his, blocked the knife heading for Alex... though Alex's rescuer got a small hit from the blade that was heading towards himself.
"Thanks." Alex stated with a nod as the blades from his right elbow were fully retracted back into the bracer that was hidden under his leather jacket, while the shield that was forming on Alex's left arm was now fully formed so it was two and a half feet wide and three and a half feet tall, and was two inches thick. Alex's glowing green eyes were locked onto the shadow mutant and was ready for the next move when his ears started ringing from a massive KABOOM that shook more then half of Alex's merchandise off the shelves, and they all shattered when they hit the ground. For a moment all Alex could hear was a high-pitched ringing sound in his ears and his vision was doubled since the blast knocked his eyes out of focus for a short time. Slowly though his eyes cleared and he could hear everything else, but his head was still ringing... and the malachite shield showed the loss of concentration. It had ripples on the surface of it similar to that of when you drop a rock into a still pond.
As Alex's head cleared, the ripples started to smooth out, Alex glanced around to figure out what had happened to cause this... and he saw a large hole in the side of his shop with a young girl standing in the center of the hole as if she had done that. "You couldn't of used the back or front door? You had to make a name for yourself by blasting a hole in my wall. My insurance doesn't cover explosions you know!" Alex grumbled at the girl before he turned back to the shadowy man as another person entered the shop and took his place between the malachite manipulator and this new threat, and confronted it with silver knifes. That was when the guy looked familiar from when Alex was playing the part of an extra in a movie, and Koga had called him Silver. It was nice to have some more back up, but still, they were in a pickle. There was also a bystander in the doorway of his shop, and Silver had directed her to call the cops and to leave. Okay, so help was going to be on the way... but this wasn't that helpful. They had to get outside... but how the heck were they gonna get out?
With an angry grunt, Alex's shield shifted form so it was a round shield now that was three and a half feet across and three inches thick... and the outer edge was lined with sharp razor blades so it looked like the rotating saw of an electrical saw. The razors started to rotate along the edge of the shield, so it looked like the malachite shield was now a large spinning saw. As Alex was doing this, Alex formed a three and a half foot long broad sword in his right hand that was also edged with razor blades, and they started to rotate along the edge of the blade making look like a chainsaw sword. Alex had finished doing both actions with his power in a matter of seconds... and he was more then willing to use them. With both malachite weapons whistling because they were rotating so quickly, Alex glanced at Koga, then at Silver, and nodded slightly. He was ready, and he clearly heard where they were intending to go: the X-mansion.
With that, Alex glanced back at the girl that blew a hole in his wall, and narrowed his glowing green eyes in sorrow. "A child like you, mutant or not, shouldn't have to deal with such things. I'm so sorry." Alex stated calmly, and his sad tone showed that he was truly sorry for her. Without another word, Alex swung his extending chainsaw sword at floor near the shadow mutant while his shield was used to cut in half a nearby support beam. The malachite cut right through the cement floor, and after making several slashes in a matter of seconds, the floor started to groan and cave in. With the floor giving way into the basement and the wall already damaged, more parts of the old run-down building started to give way. Without saying another word, Alex jumped backwards and dove out the broken window, and landed on his feet. He turned around, shield ready to block anything that was thrown at him... while hoping he would see Koga and Silver jump out behind him and see the building collapse on the shadow jumper. "So much for my pottery business."
Alex was walking through the streets of New York with his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket, his cyan eyes aimed towards the ground, and a frown on his face. It had only been two days since he had a deity for a customer in his pottery shop asking for an idol and he basically bit her head off, and a few days before that he had a duel with an aura manipulating mutant in the alleyway behind his shop and got his shoulder dislocated during that duel. Needless to say, he was a bit sore in the shoulder and unhappy with his own attitude. Sure that wannabe deity needed to be taken down a notch because she had insulted him... but he might have over did it. And that mutant he fought with in that back alley needed to be taught a lesson, but he was still feeling the effects of it, despite the fact that his arm was already back in place.
With a grumble the malachite manipulator turned down a block and walked down that road, pushing passed the crowds of people that were moving around at noon on a Saturday... and most of them were looking like they were recovering from a hangover from drinking too much during happy hour on Friday. Alex squeezed his way through the growing crowd as he kept on walking, not sure of what he was going to do today since he always closed his pottery shop on Saturdays, but the places that he normally hung out at were closed do to mutant activity... go figure. Reality was that Alex was looking for something that would require physical activity that would test his limits since something like that always made him feel better.
However where ever Alex looked, the only thing he found thus far was a park where he could run... and that wasn't a challenge at all. "Forget this... I'm just gonna build a dueling dummy in my basement and slash it to pieces..." Alex grumbled as he turned around and started to head back... and stopped when he noticed a public boxing gym. It had been a while since he practiced his boxing... eight months to be exact... and it was physically demanding... and he might even learn a new trick or two here. With a nod, Alex walked into the gym, paid the walk in fee in cash, and was handed a key to a locker for him to store his stuff. It didn't take long to find his locker, and with his leather jacket no longer weighting him down, Alex walked over to one of the larger punching bags and gave it a left cross, resulting in a satisfying thud.
As he worked on the punching bag some more, Alex glanced around a little and noticed that there was a boxing ring off to the side of the gym, and there were people lining up to box. Was there a competition going on? That would be interesting to watch... or even participate in. With that in mind, Alex went back to focusing on the punching bag, a bit oblivious that some people were staring at him since he was still wearing his malachite bracers.
Hm... Your character is a boxer, eh? Alex has had some training as a boxer himself. Maybe we could have them both go to a public gym to work out some and there happens to be a boxing arena there. They both step in and start having a friendly brawl and end up teaching each other a few things. Afterwards the two could have a conversation.
Or...
Then while they're in the ring, a would-be thief grabs Alex's and Donovan's bags in order to find their wallets, and Alex senses the malachite in his bag changing location, and jumps out of the ring. You could have Donovan follow because he sees the guy also has his bag too. The two of us work together to stop the the thief, then talk afterwards.
Alex was about to fish the keys out of his pocket so he could lock up the store when he and Koga left when he noticed something odd in the reflection of glass in the front of the store. He could see his reflection in the glass quite clearly, along with Koga's... but something about the shadow in the back of the shop had changed shape. Alex was going to dismiss it as a floater within his eye when the changed shape walked out of the shadow and turned out to be a person wearing a hoodie that hid the person's face, and all the guy asked was if they were going somewhere. Koga was right... the malachite manipulator had pissed off whom ever was in charge of the M-drug production and distribution... and they had sent an assassin that could enter his shop without him knowing about it. He was either a mutant or person on M... but he was clearly a threat.
Koga clearly thought so to since the man had taken out some weapons that looked like small night sticks and got between this shadow assassin and Alex, and warned the man to leave just as Alex had turned around half way around so his right shoulder was facing this intruder. "Yeah, we were planning to check out a nearby bar and share a few drinks... but I think I can be talked into sticking around for an introduction." Alex stated with a hint of smugness in his voice as he crossed his arms over his chest. Out of the corner of his eye he thought he saw something silver outside the shop, but Alex couldn't make it out... nor did he try since he was focused on the shadowy intruder with glowing green eyes.
A whole three seconds passed before a green blade ripped out of the elbow of Alex's leather jacket and grew towards the intruder. It went around Koga on his right side then split in half, forming a Y shape as it grew towards the intruder. The tip of the growing malachite blades curved inwards and headed for the shadowy man, on aimed for each shoulder, and they were growing as fast as Alex could run. His malachite couldn't grow any faster. Alex knew full well that this guy was here to kill him, so Alex chose to take a gamble and tried to take the guy by surprise by attacking first.
When Aura's metal katana clashed with Alex's malachite weapon, he could've sworn that he felt fresh cracks forming in his weapon where the two swords had clashed against each other. He felt those cracks increase in size as his opponent pushed against him, and he in turn pushed back, so the cracks were starting to grow large enough that they were visible to the naked eye. That was the weakness of his malachite... it was twice the strength of cement, it could handle tin, and maybe it could hold it's own against aluminum, but iron had malachite beat... which meant that the green gemstone that Alex had control over was greatly outmatched against the steel that Aura's weapon was made of. A few more clashes on that same spot of Alex's sword before he could fuse it again could mean the weapon breaking altogether.
Before he could worry about that though, Alex felt his malachite weapon pierce through Aura's pink power and cut into her flesh, and once again it felt like he was pushing his index finder into raw meat. The feeling was so disgusting to Alex that he shivered uncomfortably, but he kept pushing his weapon against Aura's katana even as she pushed harder, so the forming cracks in the malachite katana were growing larger and deeper. During all of this though, Alex's gaze never left Aura's eyes as he retracted the second blade of his weapon back into the hilt of his katana and starting to use both hands to push back against Aura. He knew that he had hurt her twice, and even though he didn't see any pain in her face he knew that there was only so much the body could handle.
After she gave him and his power a complement, Alex nodded slightly. "You're battle hardened, you have a lot of skill, and even more potential... but if you get hurt one more time I suggest you yield. There's only so much anyone can take." Alex responded just before Aura attacked him with her leg that had a hammer on the end of it. Alex adjusted his weapon to deflect the incoming attack, but that resulted in Aura's katana slipping into the developing crack on the malachite katana. When the aura hammer struck the malachite sword, Aura's own katana acted like a wedge for when all of that force was applied to the already weakening weapon.
CRACK!!
Alex's eyes went wide as he felt his malachite katana break half way up the blade. The broken off piece fell to the ground, shrinking in size till it was just a sliver of green gemstone by the time it hit the ground. Now unhindered, Alex could only watch as the aura hammer went passed Alex's broken weapon and nailed him on the shoulder... and the malachite manipulator sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth in pain as he felt the ball and socket joint in his shoulder give way under the force. He might have injured her twice... but with one hit she had dislocated his shoulder! Alex jumped backwards as his right arm went limp, his fingers barely clutching the broken malachite katana. The balance of power for this battle was up in the air now, and was starting to show favor for Aura.
"Impressive... but this isn't over yet." Alex stated with a smile as his malachite shield shrank back into an armored fist, which Alex aimed at Aura's stomach. The armored fist suddenly grew out towards Aura was surprising speed... the same amount of speed that Alex's best punch could be at. He might have been reduced to one arm now, but he was still in this fight... but Alex was willing to call it quits if Aura got another hit on him.
This looks really interesting. Yes for me since Alex would find himself torn between whom to side with since he's in favor of equality like the X-men, but he would also call for those policemen that nearly beat a mutant to death to have disciplinary action taken against them since he feels that everyone that uses their gifts or position wrongly should owe up to it.
Also, the M-drug thread that I'm doing that has to do with an enhancement drug for M-drug users could really have an effect on this too if the M-drug users join the mutant rioters.
