The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character
Personality: Donovan is a warrior. Ever since he was a kid in Riverdale he loved the thrill of a fist-fight with kids bigger than himself. Eventually the school counselors found a positive outlet that rather than going around and picking fights he stops them. Of course this didn't remain the case for long as he went on to become a boxer as his own profession.
Of course he isn't so one-dimensional as to only be a fighter, he also loves science. Not something typical for someone who gets hit for a living, but currently he is a student at the University of New York, and wants to someday be a teacher.
He also isn't the best with the ladies, but what young man isn't, of course some day he wants a wife and kids. But he always seems to strike-out in a coimical manner, through forces he can't control. Morality
Good 4.5: Donovan is a mostly good guy, doesn't hit girls, won't steal your wallet. But most often he lacks the perception to know the problem. He can walk by a mugging and hardly notice it occuring, though, as such he is hardly the heroic type of good.
Mutations
Mutation description: Donovan's molecules have the ability to mimic the properties of the metal commonly referred to as steel. At this point his muscles, skin, and bones, essentially every living cell in his body, take on the properties of steel. This transition takes approximately 10 seconds to complete entirely throughout his body. This transformation can become indefinite, but it requires longer, and more effort, to change back.
Strengths: This power spreads the material throughout his entire anatomy, granting him a degree of enhanced strength and durability. The reason for this being that he now exerts force with the weight of a body of steel. While in this form it takes the same amount of force, or piercing capacity, to injure him as it does a layer of steel. Armor piercing bullets and full collision with cars can not only hurt, but injure him as well. As apposed to a punch from a full-grown man, he can acknowledge it, but won't feel pain from it. Standard bullets will also make him feel pain, but is unlikely to pierce past his skin. Weaknesses: Must have contact with the steel in order to shift into it. The transformation requires unbroken contact and focus during the period of transition. If his focus is broken, or contact, the transformation stops mid-way and it becomes more difficult to shift back to normal. If he is missing enough matter from his body then he is incapable of shifting back, i.e. he loses a finger he can't shift back without some way to replace it. While Donovan can stay in this state indefinitely it takes more effort and time to transform back the longer they stay in that shape, essentially six times the amount of time. Donovan is incapable of swimming while in his steel-form, being too dense to remain afloat. As a fantastic conductor energy sources hurt McCalaghan even more than normal in this form, though they may not necessarily kill him, unless it induces some type of warping or melting that he cannot heal from. Donovan also feels pain an discomfort to a more extreme extent from heat and cold, than would be normal for a human at a temperature that heats his metal, or makes your tongue adhere to it.
Secondary mutation description: Donovan is capable of absorbing steel into his body to heal injuries that he has sustained while in steel form. Any injuries he sustain in flesh form disappear when he shifts into steel form, but return as soon as he goes back to his normal form. This does not extend to things such as diseases or toxins.
Strengths: Donovan absorbs steel by making direct contact with an outside source of steel to heal injuries which he has sustained while shifted. Weaknesses: Any injuries sustained while in his normal form cannot be reversed. This power is only limited to tissue, cell, and bone damage. He cannot absorb while in his "flesh" form. Also missing body parts sustained in his standard human form cannot be replaced by simply turning into steel and absorbing more steel. But while performing this it takes about a full minute to heal most minor injuries, and as an injury is proven more serious it begins taking a longer period of time to absorb the steel into his body to recover from injuries.
Fighting Style
Explanation: Donovan got in a lot of scraps as a child, later on he went to learn boxing. The boxing was something he trained in for a few years and as such has reached a decent level of proficiency, but would probably only be able to match up against low teir pros. Even then probably not being able to win. Pros for fighting style: He can dish out a great amount of force with his fists, or jab with a quickness. Dodging punches is also an important plus-side to this fighting style that McCalaghan takes advantage of in this style. Cons for fighting style: Donovan has very little capacity for kicking and isn't any good at grappling. As such if he gets grabed the boxer more or less has to try to find a way to punch his way out or he's helpless.

History Of Your Character
Donovan McCalaghan is from North Riverdale, in the Bronx. His father was a stereotypical raging Irish drunk, who simply disappeared by the time the boy had turned 8 years old. Up to that point he was exposed to a large amount of physical and emotional abuse, but not nearly as much as his mother. After his father left Donovan and his mom did fairly well for themselves, the boy even joined a local boxing gym so that he could have a job fighting in matches when he became old enough.
Donovan's life continued on with this impoverished life-style until he hit 16 years of age and was old enough by the gym's rules to compete in boxing matches for money. For six months and 7 matches he went undefeated and him and his mother were able to afford a piano, so his mother could begin to play again and even teach him how to do so. Donovan soon discovered he had a talent for music and began to practice whenever he could, he had found a way to express himself freely and potentially make a living. Soon he began to play guitar and sing as well.
But one night, during a match, Donovan was not feeling too great, and was up against the corner of the ring taking a beating. While he was trying to protect his head ,soon the punches began to hurt less and less, after a few more moments he didn't feel the blows much at all and began to lay in on his opponent knocking him out with a series of, what felt to him like quick jabs. After the knock-out blow Donovan had figured he'd be met with cheers, as was the trend after winning a match, as usual for after a come-back victory like that, but he was met only with silence, and soon, roars of outrage and anger.
Donovan looked down at himself to see that his body was compromised of black steel, the very same kind that the corner bars of the ring are made of, and quickly ran out of the arena. The next day, due to suspicion based on his new mutant status, Donovan's entire match record was revoked and he was no longer allowed to compete in any legitimate fighting organization, thus forcing him into retirement. Soon after the news reached the papers he was subjugated to a large amount of mutant-based racism at school and he was ostracized for something he couldn't help.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google is fond of you Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: nada Sample RP: (A morning in the life) Donovan woke up abruptly from a deep slumber, almost as if something had occurred in his presence that was just loud enough to start him awake, but had stopped just as suddenly as it had begun. He looked around hastily, in order to ensure that nothing had happened in the two-room apartment that he currently inhabited. Same posters, same music and college texts, nothing seemed out of the ordinary at the time.
"What could that have been?" He wondered out loud. He mused about the circumstances of his awakening a while longer before looking up at his clock to check for the time and day. "Well I guess I should get going..." he said to no one in particular.
Donovan climbed sluggishly from the mattress onto his floor and dressed himself in a similar manner. He then made the brief journey to his refrigerator with a tired gait and opened the door. Looking inside disappointedly he muttered to himself, "I need to make some money soon or I'll starve before old age kills me." After this the man removed the remains of a half-eaten chicken, that shouldn't have been more than a week old, from the center of the machine.
As he pulled off a small chunk of the carcass, it made slight contact with his tongue. As the meat met his taste buds they began burning with a rancid sensation, inducing the involuntary reflex to spit out the food, if one could call it that by this point, with hardly a moment to waste. Running with more speed than he had used to move all morning he ran over to the sink and began flushing out the bird-flesh, the chicken may have been a little older than Donovan suspected. His apatite had all but disappeared as he disposed of the chicken. He then pulled on his boots and walked out his front door to greet, what was shaping up to be a bad day.
Cool character and his power is ... totally the opposite of waffle softness! He seems quite balanced though. Glad to have you on board. Welcome to MRO, Donovan!
