The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aedus came to the management floor and while he was still exuding confidence he was tempering it with a bit of reality, He was an intern, he was going to be their go for, for quite some time yet, And while his paper might have carried some weight with Leaner, He doubted that it was going to give him much leverage on this floor. He nodded to a man that passed him on the way back, He was pretty sure the guy sniffed him, Odd, but no big deal, so long as he didn’t mark him, it was all good, besides, he did smell good. As he walked down the hall following the little cues put up on the wall to lead him towards Ms. Faust, He was thankful that he had taken the time to find a picture of the woman he would be talking to, She sat down the hall in front of him on a desk in awesome shoes and a suit just professional enough to not being in a a film that would have made this encounter something else entirely, she looked good. A song popped in to his head that seemed to fit her. She was obviously sharp enough to run a business; she was a fox, good taste, She had a calculating look in her eye as she looked at the papers in her hand, Her Legs crossed at the ankle modes,, but misleading according to her choice in shoes. She turned on a smile that he mirrored as best he could without leering as much as he was internally.
“Pleased to Meet you Ms.Faust.” He replied respectfully, he shook her hand firmly but not crushingly so, He had been working on a hand shake that was respectful without being crushing or insulting a female coworker, It was much easier to not worry about hurting males. And was pleased to meet her, he somehow regretted that he had to first meet her under these circumstances, this would base their relationship on strictly business. unfortunate, but necessary he supposed..
Aedus didn’t respond orally but merely fell in step with the C.E.O. He did his best not to still any glances at his new employer, The Cake song faded from his thoughts as he heard her cut to the Chase. She was no nonsense, he hadn’t expected her to be, but still it was a a relief that she hadn’t wanted to sit and have an awkward getting to know you chat. A lust that made his appreciation for the women in power next to him fades in comparison. He could be great, He would no longer be the odd man out at the Teague family reunions, and He would no longer have to worry if he could do what he needed to with his soft human hands. Everything Jude showed him would come true. And she was a blonde, If he hadn’t signed that gag order he’d would of told him, he found his Blonde.
“ Absolutely.” He paused to let his answer stand on its own merit before he continued. “ Second, I would like to review whatever information is available. I assume that not much could be done with animal testing as they lack our makeup, more than likely staying the FDA’s hand on any kind of approval. Based on your company’s mentality, I’m sure it is unrelated to this street drug that is making the same claim?” The last was more to show he was informed, it seemed like the two would have a curious connection, but then pharmaceutical success were often perverted by those that didn’t quite know what they were doing. Information aside he knew it would work, He knew because he saw it. Bolstered by the fact that she obviously was not racist to mutants, if canine ones He proceeded to divulge some information that might make or break the trial. He took a deep breath “Ms. Faust I’m not a superstitious man. But I am confident that this will work based on another mutant’s ability…If the prediction comes out to be true as the rest of them we will need a room that is tolerant to extreme heat…let’s say 1400 degrees.” He had studied lava since he learned of his ability and found some information informative and other parts disturbing.
As a scientist he had trouble founding the claim, but trial and error had proven that future sights tactics of prophesying was accurate. So it was semi scientific at least. He turned toward his new employer to see what she had to say about his response.
Aedus was fighting two battles, one was the literal one, which at this point had been somewhat like whack a mole, the other was an internal fight with his gag reflex. It isn't something they can convey in movies or on shows, but the stench of the undead has to be the second worst thing about them,
1. they are walking around, unacceptable. 2 They reeked worse then rotten eggs, spoiled milk and unmaintained public restrooms combined. 3. they wanted to eat you...why? why couldn't they eat grass? dirt? coffins maybe? 4. Parts of them were hanging off of them, eye balls, arms, flaps of skin... 5. the carrion that were currently eating their flesh.
He stopped him self from thinking about it as he forced the urge to vomit down. He jumped back as one of the zombies surged forward... More of the cemetery residents were breaking loose. The zombie at hand was a large fellow that apparently died of something gruesome...or he hadn't been deteriorating well.
A large Zombie hand landed on his shoulder and started to pull him towards its Maw. Maya was moving towards the shops. Panda Girl seemed to think it was a pertinent time to argue. Aedus struggled as he whacked the large creature with his nun chucks several times as it dragged him closer. He hoped to the heavens that these were the kind of Zombies that couldn't spread the disease, particularly by their Nails.
He looked into her eyes and he believed her in spite of the answer’s shock, she didn’t look ashamed and he hadn’t noticed any bruises. “Yeah I’d like to meet up again, and Sorry, I had to ask.” He was too, sorry that he had to ask, no one deserved to be treated like that, and she was sitting here defending him the whole time too. He was convinced that he hadn’t hit and more so that she could take care of herself.
“You’ve got my number. Give me a call and we’ll figure out where to meet.” He smiled genuinely, “It was nice meeting you Lydia.” He glanced at a car that whipped into a parking space. “That looks like your ride I’ll go ahead and leave you here; I don’t want to stir things up more than I already have.” He had no Idea what he drove, He figured it would be expensive, and driven poorly. And the car fit the profile. So he sighed and went on his way, he didn’t bother waving to her as he left, not out of spite but out of consideration for her drive home, the shirt was already going to be trouble enough.
As he walked away he imagined how his night might have gone without the interruption of a certain Neanderthal. as He went and thought about how much fun he'd been having before Eli showed up, His mood slowly soured into a grumpiness that he tried to avoid, he hated it when he was one the people on the street that he might avoid if given the chance.
Aedus found a small mom and pop home cooking place, He was in love, It was somebody else's grand ma that did the cooking, but he had only wanted mash potatoes and gravy and these were heavenly. Gram wouldn't find out. He set on the patio of the shop over the Family sized Container of Mashed potatoes. Call it a stereotype all ya like, Aedus wouldn't care.
It reminded him of the good parts of Thanks Giving, it was coming up soon. He stopped and smiled to himself of the warmth and hustle and bustle of the kitchen. What would go really well with this was a roll or two and some Turkey.
He could almost taste it.
THUDD!!!!
THUDD!!!
THUDD!!!
A scream went up into the air and everyone he saw him pass going to the right came sprinting back, people on the other side were running too, some ran into buildings some ran headlong in the opposite direction.
Aedus stood up spoon and potatoes in hand. He walked to the edge of the side walk and looked, his eyes widened at the unexpected answer to his request...The Styrofoam container of spuds and plastic spoon slipped from his grasp. That was a whole lot more turkey then he had in mind.
Aedus's eyebrows raised as the boys shot past them in light hearted fun, He couldn't help but grin at the carefree boys, he hoped they stayed out of the thorns in the bushes. He nodded a slight shift of his head to Chase as encouragement, the entered into the lobby, it shot off in several directions from them, most notably a large living room like area, a large tv and a few game tables waited, He thought he spotted a pinball machine in a corner too. He followed Agnes as quickly or slowly as chase liked.
"So, there are classes on anything Chase could want to learn, and you go at your own pace, but how does it work in free time? I guess what I am asking is how large is the staff?" He noticed an adult here or there, but the majority seemed to be running free, all in all it couldn't be worse than the streets in the city, but he was still curious. He could volunteer if needed.
The stair way was large enough for several people to pass both ways. Before them were several different paths they could go.
He slipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out a random piece of paper and snatched a pin from the pocket of the bouncer before he left, His scribbled phone number found the paper before the bouncer could punch him. He handed the bouncer his pen back and Lydia the piece of paper.
Aedus opened his mouth to reply when she was holding the door open and talking about how she didn’t blame him for thinking he was a bad guy. She picked back up before he could decide how to put it gently. He listened to her speak her piece before he started.
“look, I don’t think he is horrible, I think he is brash, I think he talks down to you in anger and the way he orders you around he apparently thinks he owns you, It’s great to help people but just because he helped you find a place to start, doesn’t mean you should take that from him.” If he had a jacket he would have left that with her. but as it was. He started to unbutton his shirt and then unrolled the sleeves. He handed her the shirt, it would at least keep her a little bit warmer while she waited. “You can let him throw it away later, and if he has a problem with it tell him not to make you wait in the cold next time.”
Aedus couldn’t help but believe her when she said she could take care of herself. “He doesn’t hit you does he?” He wouldn’t have assumed so, except that he had no control of himself tonight, and she said she could fend for herself. She shouldn’t have to.”
Aedus set there in the Subway, He had been ready to go hit the next club when he realized the bruise he was sporting would probably mark him as a trouble maker for the rest of the night, and He didn’t want the hassle with trying to talk his way in. so he took his bruise to the subway, half inviting someone to mess with him, He could really let loose on some would be mugger and not have to hold back like he did to that chauvinistic punk. He wore a white tank top and slacks, it was too cold for this but he made the decisions he made tonight… and it was kind of fun.
It was dark damp and the wet smell of dirt and grim permeated the air, it was a good setting for a bad mood.It was only worth getting punched in the head if you went home with the girl, or at least got some food afterward.
No one even so much as talked to him on the way to the subway station or as he waited. Maybe it was the set of his Jaw, his brow, maybe it was the fact that he looked like he was ready to set someone strait. He entered the relatively empty subway car and set himself down on the cold plastic seat of the subway car.
He glanced around at the pair of guys down at one end of the car and then at a forth in the opposite end. Ah the socialites… he wondered momentarily if this was a bad Idea. Aedus set his eyes to the floor and realized that they might be thinking the same thing about him. He did look somewhat down on his luck.
Aedus nodded to what Lydia and stated simply “ I understand.” Apparently, she was ok with being told what to do. He had to resist punching Eli again as he talked down to Lydia. He hadn’t learned anything he just knew that she was kneeling next to him.
Aedus put his hands up in a gesture that said he’d go along easily; his temple throbbed lightly to the bass of the song. He looked too Lydia from the side as she joined them on the way out, at least the crowd parted for them this way.
His lips perked slightly as he watched her pout her way from the club. She was on the side of them had been tagged twice and had a light red bruise. He knew how to take a punch too, most of the shock was avoided by moving away from it, if you resisted the movement you absorbed the damage but when you went with it there was a lot less to absorb.
“You know, this isn’t the only club in town.” He was tempting a lot; it would probably be the end of a relationship, a toxic one, but still he was right in the way that he had made assumptions.
When she said it didn’t work that way He started to give a look that was almost relieved. But then she raised her eyebrows.
‘It’s not, you can try to explain, but if she decided that the moon was made of cheese, well then it is cheese and that’s that. I am not that bad, If I had a steady girlfriend I wouldn’t date around. But then she’d be after me to settle down.”
“see that makes perfect sense, Church for a moral center, I could go for that, but the fashion show, political, who’s who stuff that goes on with them, ugh. I can’t say that to her either though. I would never hear the end of it if I told her they weren’t actually going for the church.”
Aedus then seemed to stumble on something that made perfect sense to him “Wait a second! How does it work? if you can draw up memories from a fork or a cake, then you don’t just forget you remember too… would it work with this stuff? ” He motioned toward the table and sesame street. He looked at noel with a surge of wonder. She might not have to function in a world of not knowing she could know everything, ever! they just had to figure out how to be efficient. If what he had in mind was right, It was like a computer, she just needed a back up system.
Aedus gave Lydia a look that asked are you kidding me. In response to Eli’s childish territorialism, Eli even went so far as to step in the way of the look…. Aedus’s demeanor went a little bit colder at his dismissive tone.
“If that is how you treat her, no wonder she was dancing with me.” It wasn’t arrogance that made the statement, but simple observation. He shook his head and looked and lowered his head slightly as he listened to the comment. “Can’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Eli Broadcast his move like a bull charging a matador, Aedus had grown up playing soccer, he drilled for agility training for a long time. He got into fist fights all his life, whether it was for taking care of himself or sticking up for someone else. He had honed his abilities over the years, it all boiled down to keeping a clear mind, completely clear, a serene beast stocking prey. That and getting your foe worked up to the point that they were sloppy. This was going to be over fast.
Lydia protested in the background and Aedus had a mount to give her an apologetic glance. Eli came in with a wide right haymaker, Aedus Jumped hoped and raised his left arm looping it over Eli’s gaining control of it, his hand got a tight grip of Eli’s expensive shirt it was high quality fabric. Aedus then leveraged Eli’s arm upward making it awkward for him to do just about anything else. Aedus had yet to thrown a punch, but as Eli’s left up swung in viciously, Aedus stopped the southpaw blow by delivering a harsh jab into Eli’s upper arm. It wouldn’t disable it, but he wouldn’t be throwing punches full force either. Eli’s Hand connected to the side of Aedus’s head with a lot less force then intended, he would still have a bruise, Maybe Lydia would help with it and now Aedus was in the moral clear to rain a flurry of blows on this punk.
Aedus followed up his first punch on Eli’s arm with two more hammering blows to his upper arm. He was taking control of the fight and finishing it quick before the bouncers managed to get in. He grabbed Eli’s left shoulder at the end of the third blow and then went to work bringing his knee into Eli’s stomach repeatedly. Eli moaned in pain. Aedus leaned in close to his ear and spoke in guttural whisper. “We are done here?” He had hit him enough and made his point to the man, but Eli Replied with a head butt catching the same side of Aedus Head that he had hit earlier. He wouldn’t lose gracefully, So Aedus had about enough.
He pulled his arm back and slammed elbow into the top of Eli’s Face. Aedus watched carefully to cover the fact he was pleased to watch Eli’s eyes fluttered. He released the man dropping him to flop dizzily to the floor.
Stepping over Eli he closed the Gap to Lydia, “Lydia I’m Sorry, He didn’t leave much option and the way he talked to you , well I can’t say I didn’t want to punch him. “
His smile showed his gums a bit it grew so wide. He typically controlled his looks very carefully but he couldn’t help but be excited. He reeled it in fairly quickly however as he met a celebrity once that had been met a few too many times by excited fans and said celebrity thanked him for treating him like a normal person and simply shaking his hand and thanking for his work. And thus he wouldn’t pester her anymore than he already had. though he did have some questions about the younger members of their group, surely she had heard about what happened on Halloween, no better not to bring up zombies to any one. He remembered to file real zombies under not for polite company.
He listened to the places she had been and though the list was short, it was more impressive than his, and was a other than New Mexico it had his top three.
“Hmm, I don’t know, I might feel at home with the grey and rainy. I intend ongoing and getting off the beaten path if I can help it, experience the country side, figure out what the world looks like without a sky scrapper in sight. Well Kealey, I am glad to have met you. Should I leave you to your studies? I don’t want to intrude more than I have if you are running on a deadline. Then again, I've got nothing on my agenda for today.” The question seemed to be if she wanted to hang out. or wanted this random man to leave her be.
Aedus almost answered the phone with ‘I accept’ but he decided that he didn’t want to come off as cocky, at least not right away anyhow, he would impress them and then be cocky. Yeah that was it. When Ms. Leaner said that Ms. Faust herself wanted to meet with him after orientation, based on his essay, her tone said that he could go ahead and be skip strait to arrogant, she was already impressed. Ms Leaner had called his paper an enlightening and fresh view and when she sent it upstairs she had expect a positive response, but hadn’t realized Ms, Faust would want to meet him right away.
Aedus dressed in his finest clothes, the owner of a company he hoped to move up in deserved the best, and when he decided to Google Ms. Faust to find an image of who he would be meeting he was astounded by the fact he wasn’t looking at the older frumpy German pharmaceutical company owner he had expected, he had in fact found a rather attractive blonde at the head of the company. He couldn’t say he was displeased. He hung his suit coat in the locker they had assigned him and replaced it with a lab jacket with the FP logo on it.
He was oriented, as if they hadn’t subjected him to enough company propaganda the other day, then he signed a gag contract meaning he couldn’t talk about the work he did here, mainly due to recipe leaks he would assume, you had to tell the fda everything that was in it but that didn’t mean you had to tell the competition, so many patents get stolen and debuted by other pharmaceutical company’s it was ridiculous. But he was loyal so they didn’t have to worry about him. He was impressed by the benefits he would receive.
He had no Idea… The day went on and all and all it looked like he would be assisting for awhile before he got to run the show, he had expected as much, that said he was excited to be on the right track. He put his lab coat in his locker refreshed his deodorant, washed his hands, applied a bit of cologne and went to see the Boss.
“The other Xmen, meaning you are one?” he said feeling a little bit gullible, but really the details we a good reference to the truth of it. He went from impressed to slightly overcome. First off, had he just hit on an x-woman? and if so was her boyfriend going to fly down and smite him? Worth it.
He paused and looked her in the eye. “ I mean it, you are. And now that I know you are off the proverbially market, Well,I’m not just saying it.” he laughed at himself. “ not that I would, I mean I might, but I wouldn’t have to fake it in your case…I mean how horrible would it be if I started looking through the sketch book and it was all bland and terrible and what not, I would have to say something right?” he shrugged in his terrible defense. “my point being, that I don’t have to force the compliment.”
“Northish, towards Belfast? My Family is from Naas, its in Dublin’s back yard. I haven’t been to Ireland myself, I want to go sometime, but The City seems to have a strong grip on me.” He could say that, his mutant mother had taken him there mentally once, but then he would have to explain and so he didn’t. And while the Irish Lass of a x-gener next to him would understand better than most, it was still a tricky thing to explain.
Enter the boyfriend, that was the problem with Pretty women types, they just about always had somebody that thought that they belonged to them. He saw the guy just in time to notice he was about to pushed so when he was propelled backwards he was prepared for it and didn’t slam into the person behind him nearly as hard as he would of, merely stumbled. A male voice exclaimed with surprise. “hey!”
Aedus turned his head over his shoulder. ”Sorry, My fault.” He apologized taking responsibility for the ape before him. he was glad it was a guy behind him and not a skinny little thing in heels. He didn’t need to people angry at him. He turned in time to see Pushy shove Lydia away.
He watched as the man before him rolled up his sleeves, his were already there. Ignoring the man before him he leaned a little bit and addressed Lydia. “You, ok?”
You know one things ladies hated, someone over baring, particularly when in direct comparison with someone that kept their cool.
He looked the man in the eyes directly for the first time. “Eli, you don’t want to do this.” Aedus loosened is stance and turned slightly to the side, this guy was hot headed and it would make it all that much easier. If he kept his calm he could look like he wasn’t enjoying this and still knock him senseless.
"Thank you M'lady, did we mention it was a nice place you got here?" he felt like it could be said a few more times and still be relevant. He would try not to.
Aedus turned around and followed Agnes and Chase after paying Clive and giving a decent tip. It looked like Clive almost felt bad about it, Almost, but not quite it was just as well Aedus didn’t like to argue over money.
He looked on the scene before in awe, He was used to seeing mutations, he was a black sheep in his family because he didn’t have one. But seeing a mutation didn’t mean you had seen everything mutation had to offer, it was like experiencing a new flavor, seeing a color for the first time, an aroma coming out of the kitchen, that made you wonder what was cooking and when you could eat it…it was like that but not quite. He felt like he was intruding on a secret place where Fay or gods roamed and forgot their cares. He set a hand on Chases shoulder momentarily to remind them that he wasn't facing the situation alone.
“Nothing to worry about here, besides were with ya. Lead the way Agnes.”
