The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Wait!" Aedus sprung to his feet as soon as she was done trying to make him break his word. her arms were wrapped around him, her cheeks now held a lovely blush... she kissed like someone dying of thirst in the dessert and she just found an Ozarka factory. "...did it work?"
He looked puzzled at her frantic reaction. " My mind was on reading the whole time, I swear! he meant it, even if there were those first couple of seconds, they didn't count because the effort it took to concentrate on something else and still preform should have earned him a medal.
Aedus was grinning ear to ear as he placed his bike on the rack and opted to just go for more deodorant instead of taking a shower. He realized it was a waste if he was just going to get sweaty and filthy again. so he threw on some jeans, switched out his tennis shoes for a pair of rarely used work boats and plucked a random shirt out of the closet. Orange.
He locked up his apartment and turned back around, he Caught a cab magnificently fast and was heading the six blocks down again when he got a text.
Aedus: Family emergency, had to run. Call you later. -Kat and Jude
" Whoa, stop here! Hang on a moment for me Alex." Aedus said to the cabbie, who he already paid in case he caught another fair.
Aedus opened the door and waved to Jude and Katrina who had just exited the building through a back or side door.. "How can I help? and will we need a cab to get there?"
The other guy grinned. “Yeah, you ready?” he raised his hand to show him nothing was in it and looked away, Aedus tensed not sure what was about to happen, Rust and the other guy closed their eye’s and Aedus realized it just in time, His eyes slammed shut and an overwhelming light was pointed toward him. Aedus rolled out of the seat away from them, He could probably handle the guy with the pip, He couldn’t do it blind. He sought cover under the seat. It blocked the light out but dots and spots floated before his eyes.
“Ok, Light, enough.” Rust growled. Wow, these guys were creative.
But when the pair opened their eyes he wasn’t there and lucky for him it did the same thing to them too. Aedus couldn’t stay there forever, but he was kind of stuck. But it was better now than never. He rolled out from under the seat much to the chump mutants’ surprises. He managed to get his feet under him as the pole was swinging toward him; on the upside it seemed unwieldy because it was large. On the down side if he got hit, it was going to suck.
Aedus flopped back ward across the aisle. The third guy was just watching, he was either in on it or he was playing the classic better him than me card. Fricking New York. He hopped backwards away from the pole swinger, but the pair didn’t work well with each other either, at least not in tandem.
Aedus leaned back and watched the pair of thugs down at the one end chatting with each other in hushed tones. The guy at the other end covered his face even further. Crap. did he get in a car that was just waiting for a mark. None of them looked like they were all that law bidding, judging by the need to wear bandanas or pull their hoods up.
"Hey punk. You gonna give me your cash and walk away." The fellows walked forward toward him.
Aedus glanced to the other end and decided against running, the third would just join in. screw it. He looked up at the man.
" **** you!" Blunt but effective.
The guy behind him laughed. " you messed up now, show him Rust."
The large man grabbed one of the poles that you held on to in the middle of the of the subway and seemed to concentrate. a small line of rust ran down the side pole and then formed two rings at the ends of the pole about six feet apart and cut the pole from the center.
Aedus was in a belligerent mood and laughed. "' Thats the best you got? you can acquire a pipe." He looked behind him, you got anything better," cause I'm still liking my odds." He drew his legs back readying himself for his first move.
Huh?! She put her tongue in his mouth, was she testing his metal, that wasn’t fair. He concentrated on reading. He responded in kind, parting his lips and tentatively responding with his own tongue.
He settled his mind and tried not to think about what was going on with him physically, it was so very odd. He concentrated on himself sounding out the story of little Morris McGurk. He cleaned up the parking lot of cans cars and trees, he sold impossible amounts of lemonade, roped by a clown and wrestled a grizzly ghastly, and he skied and avoided cacti.
~He stuck his tongue out at his sister after she had called him a name.~
~ He repeatedly licked strawberry ice cream cone.~
~He passionately Kissed a redhead next to a pool.~
~His brother’s dog Ogre slammed into him licking him repeatedly.~
~Noel’s tongue flicked into his mouth and his tongue responded.~
Aedus laid an arm across the back of the couch, the finger tips of his other hand rested on her nearest leg, they were behaving. He thought of practicing lines for a school play, repeatedly reading them over and over to memorize them, it beat thinking about anything involving his dad.
She went from pursing her lips curiously to staring at him with the power of scolding. He swallowed again. He paused to steel himself to the decision, to dedicate his will to it. “I will do my absolute best to try.” It rang true he meant it.
He looked her in the eye ignored her pouty lips, He leaned in the couple of feet became an impossible distance, when he got close to her he closed his eyes and tried his damnedest to multitask. He plant his lips on hers, not able to resist adding a little bit more context to the kiss then needed, he didn’t however add tongue and he resisted the urge to place a hand to her face. For the first couple of seconds he couldn’t get past kissing her.
But he took his word seriously and if picturing himself as boy learning to read from his father didn’t dose the spark of romance nothing would luckily it did the trick. It was weird but he managed to picture his bed room and sitting on the edge of a bed with creamy orange sheets and maroon pillows. He stared down at a book in his father’s hands and sounded out the words in typical doctor Seuss Rhyme. He did his best as he concentrated on it.
He nodded to the statement, happy that whoever leaked the information would be in trouble if he signed a gag order other people should have to abide by it to. If that was even the case, He might have been wrong but it seemed likely to him.
“That makes sense. I imagine that it will be particularly intense as there will be a major physical change initially as well.” He was confident that he would be able to change his features on command eventually, but who knew how it would go at first. He took a deep breath. He didn’t care what it took, he was in. Aedus took the lead looking, in each window for signs of other mutation activations. Struggles, what might appear sinister to some, seemed sensible to him, A controlled environment was all a scientist could hope for, the repetition and simplicity were perfect.
He bent over the paper work and put a tick mark everywhere he needed to sign. He then went through it and signed each with as little flourish as possible. He had never anticipated anything more in his life.
He handed Ms. Faust the stack of papers. "When do we start?"
"Some it is easiest to read oout loud so you can sound it out, I also got a movie with subtitles that way you could see what they were saying as they said it...but it would probably move too quick., I dunno, I was thinking that my lips were part of me and that I was learning it... we definitely don't have to if you don't want to, I won't force you but it's worth a shot, there are definitely worse reasons to kiss someone."
His heart seemed to beat a little bit harder, were his hands sweating? that hadn't happened since he was a teen. He swallowed and turned slightly. he was there ready for the kissing if she wanted to. her lips seemed to want to be kissed... He looked into her eyes to try to figure out if it was a yes or a no.
"Well... what I was doing with the pencil, I was trying to force my memories onto it. but I can simply remember my memories, if I could concentrate on it and we kissed." he looked down slightly. "Its up to you if you want to try, we can always do this the old fashioned way to, I was just thinking it would expedite things...and if there was anything else you wanted to know, I could try to teach it to you, at least from my perspective...if it worked." so serious.
Aedus raised an eyebrow at a devious thought that crossed his mind. He shouldn't suggest it, it would point to everything that his mother had said and... well, he had suggested kissing for much pettier causes...wouldn't it be awkward to think about his dad teaching him to read while they kissed though... that made it much weirder and somehow less inappropriate, he would be suggesting it educational purposes wouldn't he. "does your ability only work inanimate objects?" he looked at her from the side.
“I was around seven before I really got interested in trying, I wanted to be out in the yard playing, so my Da, would sit me down and read to me, I followed along and that’s how it worked.”
Aedus looked disappointed by the fact the memory didn’t carry over of him writing it. “He was really patient with me, but he kept me close to in case I got tempted to run out and chase my brothers or sisters in the yard.”
He picked up a book he had brought from the library the day before and plopped down next to her, it was a Dr. Seuss book entitled if I ran the circus. “If I could share that memory I would its one of my favorites. This was one of the first books I learned to read from.”
He hadn’t meant to be sentimental, but if he was going to share Sesame Street with her, well then Seuss needed to be represented as well.
He kept his mouth shut with anything else he had to say about anything based on the carefully calculating expressions that would cross her face as she listened, He would wager there was a respectable brain behind those eyes. ~a mind like a diamond.~
Taking the stack of papers, he stated. “I’ll see that everything is in order, typically I look over things more thoroughly, but I don’t mind what it says in here, the payout is too much to worry about what I have to sign.” The word unstoppable echoed through his head.
He mentally. Hmm’ed at the answer. He waited to address the subject until they were both in the pleasantly close corridors. “I wasn’t implying that Faust is officially connected or intentionally even. As you are aware I am interested in activating my genes to their full potential. So when I heard about this M. I was curious to study it. I talked to some of the users and decided against it based on their short lived reign. But the ingredients seem like they would come in handy for activating the gene in earnest. It wouldn’t have even occurred to link the two accept that I know of the existence of this.” He held up the folder for a moment and then shrugged lightly.
“My suggestion is that you might have someone look into whoever is working on this and insuring everyone is keeping their mouths closed. Though if someone has helped the dealers concoct a bastardized version of the real thing, the cat is already out of the bag I suppose.” it didn't make sense for a pharmaceutical company to risk trafficking in illegal substances. if they wanted money all they had to do was stamp a label on a cod medicine and mass produce.
He didn’t care what the effects or consequences of the development of the official drug were; this was one of the few things in his life that he needed to achieve. He wasn’t whole, his whole family every single one had some form of mutation. Most were subtle, his brother could account work with numbers in ways that would make Einstein scratch his head in wonder. His mother could give you a look at any place in the world and if she was willing to exert herself she could show you the moon, all and all a dull landscape, but watching the sun’s affect on the earth from the moon was a view that everyone should see. His father’s left and right hands worked like matches. Nothing wildly dangerous, everything could be controlled, excused made to keep quiet if needed. But his genes denied him. They would no longer.
He conceded to the oracle lightly, if they didn’t want to be known for their abilities they were going about it all wrong.
“As for the information I was curious to see ingredients, I’m aware of what a lot of chemicals will do alone and most in what they do in combination, there is a reason that I felt qualified for a position here. It would be hard to say as the gene is such an unquantifiable variable, I suppose the question I would like to know most is based on what you have developed, what should I expect?”
He realized that it was taking them longer to go down then it had for him to come up from the lobby. He also couldn’t help but notice that this was a very private, very snug little room.
Something clicked in his brain, she wasn’t picking up memories off everything in the room, everything she saw or even everything she touched, her power was oral. Aedus hopped off the couch and snatched a new pack of mechanical pencils out of his bag. Opened it and washed them with soap and water in the kitchen, He washed his hands while he was at it.
On the way back he grabbed a stack of paper from the printer and dropped it on the coffee table and sat down to carefully scrawl the alphabet, concentrating as he did so to make the letters perfect. He thought about nothing but what he was doing, he concentrated on exactly what the letter was as he wrote it.
“I know it’s probably the oddest thing someone could ask you, but humor me. Would you mind tasting the pencil?” he offered her the clear plastic tool to see if she would do so. Between the sesame street and the pencil tasting he sounded like one twisted weirdo…out of context anyhow.
