The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Ah the spit take; a classic. Apple juice sprayed in a fine mist out of Aedus mouth, his only saving grace was that he turned away from Noel in time to not hit her with it. “Um, no, the whole Irish catholic thing, just doesn’t work with me, I um how much of that conversation are you um, remembering exactly. Let me know if you get to the part where she starts talking about women. “ Aedus paused the DVD so they wouldn’t miss Grover spilling soup on the bold complaining costumer.
“They all go, and make a huge deal out of it, and they want me to go so they can make me feel excluded, I know my ma and Da aren’t like that, but my sisters and brother, and my cousins all of them, eh.” Even if there wasn’t a lie to taste, it didn’t take much to know he was both avoiding and addressing the subject. are you into church?
If she listened to much more of his Ma’s ramblings Noel would find that his mother at least didn’t think he was anywhere in the running for a sainthood, not that he couldn’t be if he would just stop chasing skirts. Now, He would admit he was girl crazy growing up, but he had changed…hadn’t he? Well maybe not, but he wasn’t the lady killer his mother seemed to think he was either. Was he? He glanced at the screen and smiled.
It took her a little bit to warm up, but once she got going it was worth the wait. He figured it was the shoes, a sacrifice that looked good on her, but he never understood why women had to take style out on their feet. He meant it to that Dancing was a good way to get to know someone, maybe you might not know a ton of facts about them but you could learn if you had good chemistry and they did and ultimately you would end up more comfortable with them earlier on, I mean how else would it be except able to hold onto someone you just met?
He smiled at her as an LMFAO song came on, those guys were hilarious, and talented, he wasn't too sure about the rock part, but he could tell they knew how to party. The crowd seemed to thrive on the energy and noise and they were just another pair moving to the beat. As they danced he was enjoying himself and the fact that she was just letting herself live, they didn't bother trying to hold a conversation, movement was saying all they needed too.
Someone else however had read the movement as a much less desirable language though and things were about to go from fun to hectic.
Aedus took another couple steps back and grabbed the gate closest to him yanking on it and pulling it shut as the ladies moved out of the way. He heard it even as he was in denial... they were x-men? he didn't recognize them, but it was Halloween, and they were dressed up, but Kat too? she could have told him. Was he being recruited by the x-men through future sight?... as a human? that didn't seem right.
Make them invisible? was that to Katrina or the Panda?
As the first zombie made it free of the grave Aedus rolled his neck letting the crack ripple through his neck.
At least the zombies went at zombie speed. They didn't put their arms up like mummy's abd 1920's undead though, a little disappointing. He slammed the bar down that held it in place in the ground and got in the majority of the other gate. they would be able to limit the amount they would have to fight this way, at least for awhile.
The Zombie bride was giving out orders and Aedus was glad someone was, he was more than happy to listen to the game plan, good organization was what made you win games...at least that was how it worked with soccer.
He looked over his shoulder for a split second to speak to the zombie bride, why did she have to dress as a zombie?
"You'll want a weapon with reach until they deliver." Aedus leaned slightly back and leveled the first ghoul with a kick meant to push the thing away.
Aedus walked into the interview for a paid internship at Faust Pharmaceuticals blazing with a cold confidence, He knew it was his if he took it. He was dressed to the nines and he had even brushed up on his keystone paper. He didn’t need to, he had his brain and that would get him through the door.
It was a group interview, personally he liked group interviews it suddenly became an observed contest against peers, it wasn’t the typically ping pong match of an interview. He was their earlier than any of the others and happened to sit down across from Ms. Leaner a portly woman he recently made a delivery to, she had suggested the job to him. She looked pleased to see his arrival. Three other’s came in after him and then a steady stream filled the remaining seats, after that the door was shut and a pair of stragglers were sent away.
Aedus followed the presentation of what Faust Pharm represented in the industry and its ideals championing a cutting edge solution to medical problems. All in and all it wasn’t the worst company video he had seen. QuickTrak had used tapes from the seventies…and a video exhibiting messenger biking shorts from the seventies was not something he would wish upon anyone.
He paid careful attention to the video and then was handed a packet and answer sheet. He flew through the mathematical and scientific problems with ease, the psychological section was a breeze, and he knew the answers people wanted to hear. The essay question of what first gained your interest into the field of biochemistry caught him off guard. He answered honestly and was soundly pleased that he had studied his thesis paper on the x gene. He rattled off accurate information concerning the finer points of Dna and showed an interest that bordered on obsession.
The Essay unbeknownst to him was what would push him from the front of the class, to the unchallenged victor of this process. He had stated a simple sentence that increased his odds of receiving the job a hundred fold.
~Within the scientific world there is nothing more fascinating than the x gene, a simple step in evolution that has an infinitely massive ability to change and improve our world, I currently posses an inactive x-gene that through scientific channels I hope to activate synthetically.~
He acquired more paper as they said he could as he rewrote an essay that he perfected over the course of his lifetime. A Passion took him over, one that let other’s finish first when he had completed the Q&A portion of the test before any of them. He finished his paper last and when he handed in the fully thought out twenty page essay. He was a bit abashed when he realized he and Mrs. Leaner were the only ones left.
She basked in his embarrassment, taking what pleasure she could from the wait she had already received due to his need to answer thoroughly. Fourteen of the fifteen other packets of paper rested precariously near the waste basket, one other paper set on the desk in front of her.
She raised her eyebrow at him. “If this is worth the energy you put into it, we will be calling you tomorrow.”
Aedus nodded and turned to walk away. “I’ll talk to you then.”
Aedus turned his head toward the line of trees and closed his eyes. ~they were not surrounded by trees nor would they be, they were in a car on a road near a field by some trees, there were no forests in the city…only small groups of trees. They were not surrounded by trees. They were not.~ one hand squeezed the door handle, the other hand he dug his thumb into his palm to ground him. A deep breath and a release of it had him significantly calmer. His right leg seemed to not quit be convinced as it seemed to decide that tapping uncontrollably was the right thing to do.
He opened his eyes as Chase gasped with appreciation. His right hand forced his leg to the ground as he stared in astonishment at the building before them. He made note that if he looked he could still see through to the other side of the wooded area. It was small, it was escapable.
“That place is Nice. Extremely nice.” His was suddenly glad that there was no tuition, he wasn’t sure if he could have afforded the tuition this place would have cost, at least without cracking open his trust fund. He wondered briefly at how many people lived here. He wondered at how rich whoever ran this place was. Surely there was a powerfully wealthy mutant backing this place. Teens and tweens ran about all over the place, using their powers as they pleased, playing sports, running in the field and climbing trees. Gross. He cleared his throat as his stomach turned slightly.
He looked at the meter to distract him from the daunting sight of a tree line at the edge of the landscaped property. He pulled out his wall and hand the man three twenty dollar bills, it was a decent tip on top of a nice drive. Aedus thought it was fair and after a moment Clive seemed to as well. He hadn’t even realized what the school might look like to a random Cabby, but Clive seemed to be interested in the place as well. He was glad it was Clive instead of their other Cabbie, or they might have gotten dropped off further up the drive way.
Aedus guwaffed a laugh at the remark. He shook his head lightly but couldn’t help but think it was funny. “I’ll take the awesome part of it and try to look the other way from the housewife part. But, yeah. I’m good.” He shut the door behind her and was glad he resisted putting an apron on. He had reverted back to house clothes which put him in a pair of yellow and white swim trunks and a plain white tee shirt, his feet were free from the socks and shoes that typically oppressed them.
“As genius as it would be to order and try to take the credit, it is much more satisfying to make. Besides you mentioned there is no fooling you right?” He was happy she had a definite up side to her powers, he was going to feel like she got shysted out of a mutation if all she could do was forget, though she did say she could make others forget as well.
His phobia nipped at his mind again telling him it was unhealthy to run from trees when they gathered but he persisted that it wasn’t right to let go. He sat on the Coach and watched as Big bird and Elmo threw a singing v back and forth. He caught a rather genuine smile on Noel’s face and savored it. She should smile like that more often.
Nodding he replied. “It means Fire and if I remember correctly, your name means Nobel Kind.” He went to school with a girl with the same name and remembered thinking that it was a tragic Irony, and her name didn’t fit at all, this one however; He could see the name and meaning fitting well.
Aedus didn’t hesitate before mimicking Lydia and tipping his drink to the sky, he followed the sassy young woman to the dance floor. He liked this club because it did some of the work for him; they had to dance closely because there wasn’t space for much else.
His hands found their way to her waist as they began to dance, one because it was a nice place for them to be and two if any one crashed into her then he would be ready to pull her out of harms way.. Compared to some of the people around them Aedus was fairly tame, he tended to let the lady choose how exactly they would dance and follow her lead as far as what would fly or not. The beat thumped around them and the crowd seemed to move with it. It was a good night; the place came to life in the last hour or so.
“Nice to meet you Lydia, I am Aedus. I won’t drag you out there either, not kicking and screaming anyhow. I’d be happy to escort you out there though.”He took a second drink and the happy warmth settled through him, He was already loose, but he was still happily in a buzzed zone, nowhere near being drunk, that wasn’t what clubs were for at all.
“ You sure there isn’t anything else you’d like to know?” she wanted to ask questions, he would be happy to tell her whatever she liked to know, He wouldn’t take her out there until she was sure he was worth her time? Effort? He wasn’t sure what he was being measured against but today he felt kind of invincible, four years of college were about to pay off and launch him into a career he had been interested since he was a boy.
The club was starting to heat up with the press of bodies everywhere creating ample amounts of heat. He began to roll up his sleeves. He looked again at her intense eyes, The eyeliner wasn’t necessary but brought even more attention to them.
If she handed the keys to a candy shop to a kid with sweet teeth, she wouldn’t have gotten a happier reaction. “ Are you serious? That is awesome! I was thinking maybe you just had a knack for imitation but some of the details are just too accurate.” He always wanted to be a super hero and the x-men did fine work. He tried to rein it in and not gush too much.
He noted a sketch of the girl that was mastering her turns. “You’re good. Probably don’t need me to tell you that though. The proofs right here, that was Cocoa well spent.” He pointed to the spinning little girl. " She can do it like a pro now."
He handed the sketch book of fine art back to Kealey and retrieved his cocoa. He leaned back and gave a little bit more space than he had initially while making the move to get his drink. “So, what part of Ireland are you from?”
Aedus entered his apartment and grinned, he enjoyed making the world better, and She was innocent in a why he couldn’t quite liken to anyone he had met; it wasn’t a childish innocence more of a matter of fact innocence, that seemed to take the world for what it was. no pre existing notions about how or what it should be. He did pull ups until he managed to get exhausted once more. When laying down didn’t prove to make him pass out he followed up with pushups and then managed to get some sleep. His phone started to vibrate in his pajama pocket and he woke up, jumping from his bed. It worked well to wake him up for important occurrences, but his battery suffered for it.
Aedus had gone for a run, picked up the couple of things he was missing for perfect waffles. He got home, showered, brushed his teeth and got everything set up for a educational day. He whipped the cream into a light cloud like mixture, he sliced up little fruits that would complement the dish and made glorious fluffy waffles. He also spent about an hour on the phone with his mother while he cooked; he had attempted to end the conversation seventy-six times, she did however give him a tip that made the waffles that much better. He finished the waffles as she rapped on the door. He pulled the syrup from the micro wave and set it on a pot holder.
“Morning Noel.” Aedus stepped aside and let the morning aroma of breakfast hit her. “Come on in. I figured we could eat and watch today.”
He grinned at being busted. ‘Makes sense. The Boyfriend. I will need to behave then. Your hair’s great, up or down I bet. I just thought that with that line there.” He motioned with his pinky toward the cut of the neck line. “It’d accentuate your neck.” He turned the page and mentally turned the subject. His jaw dropped a little bit. “A lot of these are really accurate, do you design for the X-men?”
He turned finally to the page that she was working on after noticing that there were no sketches of handsome mean in skates, Or at least not him in particular. “What is today’s assignment?”
Aedus leaned on the bar next to her. “ Dancing is one of the most fun ways to get to know someone.” He relented slightly though. He noticed the way she moved, she hooked the leg further from him as the one above, which, at least according to psychology meant she was open to him. He turned to his side and ordered two Khulua mud slides for a nearby bartender.
He had already ordered and she recognized him from earlier, so she didn’t bother carding him, it didn’t hurt that he tipped well. He wasn’t typically assertive enough to not ask what a lady wanted to drink, but he was in a great mood. He had an interview that went amazingly earlier that day.
He slid one of the dark drinks toward the woman near him. “ what would you like to know about me? we should be out there…it's where the fun's at.”
Aedus took a drink of his cocoa enjoying the way it burned on the way down. She was smiling, usually a good thing. He set his drink to the side as she offered him the sketch book. He wouldn’t risk spilling on her work. “I’m Aedus.” He replied with a friendly ease that made him seem like an open book. Just like that they were friends as far as he was concerned.
He looked at the sketches at a slow pace studying each of them as he went. His eyebrows scrunched up just a little as he thought about the question. ‘ Not quite like this no, but living here, it’s hard not to meet interesting people. “
“Are you in fashion? Or maybe graphic design?” He asked cautiously. She could have been either some of these looked like super heroes while some looked like things he would see on runways. “That would look nice on you.” He pointed out a particularly Vivacious Halloween costume. “Maybe wear your hair up with it.”
He was having a great night, as he danced on the floor with random strangers; no one had really caught his eye in particular, until He noticed a bright eyed brunette tapping her foot alone at the bar, He may have also noticed the impossibly form fitting dress and high heels she was rocking. He broke away from the group and made his way to the Bar.
He raised his voice just enough so she would notice that He was talking to her, but not enough to actually be heard. When she couldn’t hear him it gave him the excuse to get closer. Leaning in close to her ear he spoke. The cologne that he was wearing lingered momentarily.“You look like you’d rather be dancing, let’s Dance.” He nodded toward the dance floor and held out a hand. He stood at an even six feet and pale skin; his green eyes seemed to shine with an energy that wouldn’t quit. His pale skin contrasted with the maroon dress shirt he had on. He had always been described as handsome and he the fact that he worked out was apparent.
He stood back from her for a moment and turned his charm on full, His bright white teeth shined in a what could only be described as a winning smile, he awaited the petite brunettes response. If she was here with a guy, it was too bad for him, Aedus was a perfect example of why not to leave a lady at the bar alone, He didn't mind sweeping a woman off her feet, if she'd let him.
