The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Aikido," Amelia replied, crossing her arms over her chest. "Like Murphy from the Dresden Files. And Lenna's been teaching me Krav Maga, too."
She liked them. They could use enemy weak points against them. Use their strengths, as well.
"How does your power work exactly?" She asked. "Can you, like, skip parts of the movie? In them? Outside of them? If you set a DVD to a specific scene, could you skip the first half?"
"You're sweet," she said. He was trying to be understanding. Really, he was. "But don't worry. I wouldn't let you hold me back. It's just on my 'want list'. Not having to leave you in my dust."
She donned a cocky smirk and put her hands on her hips.
"If all the mansion and X-men stuff is important to you..." She noted, understanding working its way into her voice. "... Then you should do it. I won't force you to be a cop. Although you'd look awesome. And cop uniforms are way hotter than X-men scrubs." Sorry Kealey, she thought. "That shouldn't stop you from doing some things to improve yourself, though... I mean, if you want to teach here... maybe you could do some classes, part-time? Get a teaching degree? I'm sure it would help."
"Well, like I said when we were showing Twyla around... maybe FBI or CIA. My friend Miri is FBI. She taught me some stuff. How to use guns. And I've been training in aikido with Quin. And Lenna's been teaching me Krav Maga on the side, so I think I wouldn't have any trouble keeping up with the boys. And it'd be helping people. Probably more than the X-men when it comes to fighting crimes. I was thinking I could try and get into a college with a good forensic investigation study program, or major in science. Maybe I could wind up a lab girl instead of an agent. Or just a really good detective. I've looked at some potential apprenticeships, scholarships, and study programs. But if we're dating, I don't want to stray too far from New York. Long distance relationships suck."
Wow. That was actually a lot of thinking she'd done right there. She had surprised herself.
"Which is why I was sort of hoping you'd be able to get into the same school I do... because then we could stay close." She finished thoughtfully.
She wanted to stomp her foot and pout, but she settled for letting him kiss her cheek again. Fine. She could deal with it. Damn charmer.
It wasn't her fault she was a mood-killer. Serious stuff was serious. And this was an important topic for her.
He was trying to evade. She frowned.
"I know you think you have a future career being an X-men and a greeter and all of that, but... what if you get hurt? And can't help them any more? I want to be an X too, but... I also want to get an education, so I've got some way to get a job that pays well. And doesn't involve fighting crime." She flushed and added. "... Unless it's justice stuff like working for the police or the FBI." Those two were okay. "Have you considered that?" She asked. "Shin's doing it, and Kealey says he's okay with it all." Conspiratorially, she noted an additional fact. "I've heard some women like a man in uniform, too..."
Amelia rubbed the back of her neck too. "I, uh, kind of wasn't aiming for a mood." She confessed. "I just wanted to finish all this awkward dialogue in a place where nobody could interrupt it or escape."
Because she knew that she wanted to run for the hills.
"I guess 'future talk' is off limits, then," she noted with a half shrug.
He reacted like she'd suddenly told him 'I want to have your babies'. Wait. Had she? She hadn't even been thinking those thoughts. Or humming that tune.
Amelia dropped her attention to her shoulders. Which he was pretty much shaking her by. She tapped a hand with a finger and frowned.
"Calm down. I didn't just say "I want to have your babies", did I?" She asked to tell him she hadn't, but also for confirmation. Her tone sort of showed it. "... I meant that I have stuff to do before I even consider it... and I want to be safe. Which you get. So thank you." Unless you're carrying that stuff around for ladies like Maxine...
So he just carried that around all the time? Like a boy scout or something? She didn't know what to think about that... except that it was... good? She supposed. She confirmed that out loud. "Good." Because. "I don't really want any kids before I'm ready..."
Hey! This was awkward! Cool. How could she make it less awkward?
"Or before we're ready..." She added. "We both need to get through college and get jobs..." And there was more stuff to list, but she left it unlisted. She just looked him in the eye.
"Sorry," she said frankly. "About last night. That was messed up."
And the awkward ride home with Kealey hadn't been any better. Apparently, they were cool. She understood. But... Amelia hated herself for having put Kealey in that position. Where she'd had to be the adult, not just the friend.
He'd brought gear. Funny. She supposed maybe they could train too, if he wanted. She had been training on her own. Hadn't shown any of it to him, either. Could be fun.
"Hey, it's Ami. Meet me in the Danger Room in thirty."
She hung up.
Thirty minutes later in the danger room, she checked her watch.
Man, this was going to be an awkward talk. So she checked her watch again and was glad she'd scheduled it for somewhere they were unlikely to be disturbed.
